Job Purpose

This role is responsible for managing BSR’s day-to-day financial activities, leading on financial planning and reporting, and supporting financial governance. The Finance Manager acts as a trusted business partner to colleagues across the organisation, improving financial understanding and supporting business delivery.

While you will need a strong background in finance to meet the technical requirements of the role, as a learning organisation we recruit for potential, not perfection. This might be your first management role, or you might not have worked in the charity sector before – but if you are able to do the role, we are happy to provide you with the support and training you need to succeed. This could include supporting you to complete a professional accounting qualification if you don’t already have one. Alternatively, you might be an experienced Finance Manager, looking for a new challenge or to join a flexible organisation which aligns with your own values. 

Main responsibilities

Day-to-day financial operations

• Manage the financial activities of the charity and trading subsidiary (BSR Enterprises)
• Ensure accuracy and efficiency in the accounts
• Process payroll and administer the pension scheme
• Ensure compliance with HMRC, including monitoring VAT threshold, tax and gift aid, and undertake necessary returns where necessary
• Be the main contact with and management of, the day-to-day operations of the Charity’s banking arrangements, in line with authorisation requirements

Financial planning

• Lead the preparation of the annual budget
• Produce the monthly management accounts
• Maintain cashflow forecasting looking forward at least 12 months

Business partnering

• Work with the COO to improve financial understanding across the organisation
• Train, support and develop budget holders
• Support business delivery and development

 Financial reporting

• Provide financial reports and analysis to the senior management team and Trustees
• Attend quarterly Finance and Risk Committee meetings 
• Complete required statutory reporting
• Prepare year end schedules and act as main point of contact for financial auditors

 Financial governance

• Ensure appropriate financial controls are in place
• Identify and mitigate financial risks

 Finance function development

• Develop finance policies, processes and systems to reflect best practice and improve efficiency
• Manage, support and develop the Finance Officer
• Develop and deliver a workplan for the finance team in line with BSR’s strategy and values

The Youth Development Coordinator is responsible for the development and delivery of our youth development programme for young refugees and asylum seekers. 

You will be focused on ensuring our programme activities achieve our outcomes, are in line with our strategy and identify areas for change and development under the direction of the Head of Services. An excellent communicator and skilled at working with partners, you will be key in the implementation and running all of our weekly youth activities, including a Youth Club and Advice and Support Hub working closely with the Youth Development Worker and having oversight of our weekly Young Women’s group. 

As an experienced manager, you will lead our team of skilled youth workers, working alongside the Brent team to provide holistic support to young asylum seekers and refugees in Brent.  

You will prioritise the participation of young people in all activities, ensuring excellent safeguarding by following our policy and protocols, and ensure that we collect excellent data for monitoring and evaluation and to aid our future planning. You will also assist with staff and volunteer recruitment and reporting to our funding partners. 

The Youth Development Coordinator will hold a Designated Safeguarding Officer role at Young Roots for which they will receive full training.

About the role

Working in close collaboration with the Senior Mass Fundraising Lead, the role will manage and deliver a variety of community-led fundraising initiatives and dynamic challenge events that engage supporters and generate vital unrestricted funds for children affected by neuroblastoma.

The role focuses on building strong relationships with fundraisers, volunteers and ambassadors, providing guidance, support and motivation to help them surpass their fundraising goals. The Community and Challenge Events Fundraising Manager will both steward existing and reactive contacts, as well as be confident in securing new networks, including representing the charity in presentations and other public speaking opportunities.

The role will work closely with the Directors in GPAC’s SMT and with members of the International Programmes Department (IPD) SMT to ensure that both departments’ plans are aligned. It will also engage with key Federation members involved in global policy, advocacy and campaigns work, with the WaterAid International Secretariat, and with the Global and UK performance, strategy and planning teams.

In this role, you will lead the design of the planning process for the department to deliver annual plans, ensuring alignment with similar processes in key Federation members and other departments, as well as being integrated with the wider organisation’s planning cycles.

You’ll also: 

• Project manage the implementation of the planning process, working in close coordination with GPAC SMT directors as well as and as relevant with other WaterAid, Member and WaterAid International directors.
• Lead the process to deliver an M&E framework for GPAC (including new metrics as relevant), that balances the effort required with the need to drive data informed decisions and actions.
• Run the quarterly and annual reporting cycle, working with senior leaders in GPAC to deliver high quality data, run learning sessions to reflect on the data to enable data driven and effective decision making.

Role Purpose

It is expected the Events and Campaigns Lead will develop an understanding of AMMF’s aims and objectives and its policies and procedures.

Responsibilities: 

• Deliver a programme for fundraising campaigns throughout the year, eg, summer competitions, Christmas fundraisers
• Lead on and be first point of contact for regional ambassadors, their meetings and events
• Develop, set up and manage a database and network of regional volunteers
• Organise patient and carer virtual meetings
• Prepare for and attend external events representing AMMF, for example, university or hospital information days
• Attend external AMMF networking, partner and fundraising events when required
• Attend the annual AMMF conference and other events, and fulfil duties as required.   
• Produce reports on campaigns, events and meetings as and when required

General:

• Effectively communicate internally and externally, providing a professional and courteous service at all times
• Support team members, fundraisers, supporters and volunteers to be as effective as possible in their work for AMMF
• Be prepared to work flexibly, when required, to best meet the needs of the charity
• Participate in team meetings, training courses, events, and e-learning where required/appropriate.

• Previous experience and understanding of fundraising and information events and campaigns in the charity sector, and of using a range of techniques, including social media
• Competent with Microsoft Office, in particular Word, Excel and PowerPoint, and with emailing services such as Mailchimp, virtual meeting platforms Teams and Zoom, and social media platforms, Facebook, X, LinkedIn, Bluesky, Instagram, and with Hootsuite.
• Excellent organisational and time management skills
• Ability to motivate and enthuse colleagues, volunteers and supporters.
• Willing and able to work outside usual office hours to support external events where, when and if required.
• Current driving licence and access to /use of a vehicle (useful not essential).

This role is critical in ensuring smooth onboarding, system integration, and ongoing support to enhance financial management practices across our partner network.

This is a varied role, ideal for someone who enjoys working across lots of projects at the same time. Your main focus will be managing our staff training programme, supporting with the recruitment and onboarding of new staff and overseeing our office functions. You'll also look after some of our financial admin as well as providing some executive support for our Board of Trustees. We're a small team of 30 staff and the role is a hybrid, designed to support all aspects of the central functions of the Charity.

Your HR responsibilities (around 3 days a week), will be to:

• maintain accurate HR records for all staff
• manage and administer our HR platform, Employment Hero
• co-ordinate our annual training schedule, manage the training budget and oversee our external trainers
• lead on the recruitment and onboarding of new staff
• oversee our DBS Records
• develop and oversee staff inductions
• manage the timesheets and payroll for Ignition Brewery, the Charity’s trading subsidiary

Your admin responsibilities (around 2 days a week), will be to:

• act as the office manager, ensuring that staff offices are maintained in a neat and tidy fashion

• manage service users' personal account records
• send out monthly statements to parent-carers and follow up on overdue accounts
• support the CEO and Finance Manager with the development and roll-out of new digital platforms as the service grows

• maintain our public noticeboards

• excellent communication and interpersonal skills

About the role

As the GIS Manager, you will lead the strategic use of GIS at Sustrans, embedding spatial tools and data across the organisation. You’ll manage a small team of talented GIS Officers, support projects, and drive the development of our ArcGIS and FME architecture. By delivering training and promoting best practice, you’ll build internal capability and expand the effective use of GIS. 

You’ll oversee the administration of our GIS systems, ensuring strong data governance and continual improvement. Acting as a champion for spatial data, you’ll enable effective analysis to support business needs and help shape evidence-based decision making across Sustrans.
