We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Fundraising Officer to join the fundraising team at the Batten Disease Family Association CIO (BDFA).

The BDFA, founded in 1998 is the only patient organisation in the UK for families affected by Batten disease, a rare and terminal neurodegenerative condition that affects children and young adults. The BDFA offers informed guidance and support to families and the professionals who work with them, as well as actively raising awareness, and promoting research into the management of Batten disease to improve patient care pathways and ultimately find a cure.

This is an exciting time to join the charity, which has grown to offer additional support services for families affected by Batten disease and to implementing a long-term strategy to develop its advocacy, education and research capabilities. We’re looking for an individual who has some experience in fundraising, particularly leading on all aspects of community fundraising, developing and nurturing relationships with volunteer fundraising groups and individual supporters. The successful candidate will work under the guidance of our CEO to develop community fundraising maximising the funds raised by volunteer fundraisers and developing supporter engagement. The successful candidate will also work alongside our Trusts and Foundations Fundraising Officer to support our Trusts and Foundations income generation.

The Ideal Candidate for this role will have:

- Experience in all aspects of community fundraising including events, assisting fundraisers to develop imaginative fundraising ideas and inspiring new supporters to raise funds whilst maintaining relationships with existing supporters

- Experience in building and sustaining long-term relationships with fundraising groups and individual supporters

- Experience in managing effective and creative fundraising communications on social media and the website

- Ability to contribute to the overall Trusts and Foundations income stream, including proactively researching and identifying grant funding opportunities 

- Ability to lead on creative fundraising campaigns around key events such as Batten disease awareness day and Christmas

This job requires a motivated individual who has a passion for all those within our Batten community and a strong desire to support the development and financial growth of the BDFA. The role is full time (35 hours per week) and is home based with occasional travel around the UK to meet donors and support fundraising events.

We’re looking for a Digital Communications Officer to support the Digital Communications Manager in promoting, strengthening, and protecting the reputation of the Academy by delivering and evaluating digital campaigns across key communications channels that engage and influence new and existing audiences.

You will achieve this by creating high-quality, engaging written and visual content that is on brand and optimised for different audiences and digital channels used by the Academy, including social media channels (LinkedIn, X, Instagram, Bluesky and YouTube), email and our website. You will work closely and collaboratively with colleagues across the Academy and external partners, including influential UK and international medical researchers as well as patients, carers and the public, to help shape our work.

What you will be doing

• Preparing engaging written and visual content for social media, email campaigns and the Academy website in collaboration with the Digital Communications Manager, Creative Content Manager and the wider communications team.
• Working on projects and tasks across social, email, website and content creation as required.
• Implementing evidence-based digital comms plans, focusing on optimisation, consistency, accessibility, engagement and impact.
• Working with colleagues to identify and action digital opportunities and projects, connecting with diverse audiences and stakeholders, while being aware of new technologies, such as AI, with consideration to ethics and reputational risk.
• Embedding user experience, accessibility, and audience needs throughout your work.

What you bring to the role

Purpose - what you will be achieving

The Programme Officer will be responsible for the administration and delivery of the Academy’s women in research programmes, including working collaboratively with external consultants that will facilitate the delivery of mentoring training and career development workshops. The role provides an opportunity for a person passionate about supporting the next generation of researchers to be involved in the delivery of our unique portfolio of programmes.

About the role - what you will be doing

• Administration and delivery of the Academy’s Mentoring and SUSTAIN – women in leadership programmes
• Shared organisation and delivery of a variety of online and in-person workshops and events for the Academy’s Mentoring and SUSTAIN programmes, with individual responsibility for developing and delivering specific events within the programme
• Working with professional consultants, who will assist in the development of the Mentoring and SUSTAIN programmes and facilitate mentoring training and career development workshops
• Supporting mentees and mentors during the pairing process by monitoring the Academy’s mentoring portal and CRM system, managing the mentoring inbox queries and providing accurate and frequent reporting on mentoring uptake via the CRM’s reporting tools

Veterans’ Voices: 100 Years of Housing Heroes is made possible with The National Lottery Heritage Fund. Thanks to National Lottery players, we have been able to launch an ambitious project exploring the rich history of The Stoll Foundation while engaging our residents through workshops and events and building lasting ties with the local community.

Veterans’ Voices: 100 Years of Housing Heroes
The Heritage Project is a direct response to the sale of our main site, the historic Sir Oswald Stoll Mansions, which will be handed over to our neighbours Chelsea FC in 2027. While residents of the Mansions will move to nearby, higher-quality accommodation in the new build development of King’s Road Park, aspects of our heritage including the Mansions themselves, our on-site archives and the memories and stories of our residents are at risk.

From late 2025 until early 2028, the Heritage Project Officer will deliver a series of workshops, tours, activities, and lectures which celebrate, preserve, and share our rich heritage while engaging and integrating the local veteran and civilian communities in Fulham. Working with partners including the Fulham Society, Hammersmith & Fulham Archives and two volunteer committees, the Heritage Project Officer will also conduct extensive archival and online research to piece together the hidden history and forgotten stories of The Stoll Foundation and our early residents. Additionally, the Officer will lead on the production of key assets including a website section devoted to our heritage and a physical and digital book of the local community’s memories of Stoll Mansions. The project will culminate in a temporary exhibition which the Heritage Project Officer will design and deliver with the support of volunteers and professionals.

Key Responsibilities

• Recruiting and managing two teams of volunteers: a Local Heritage Heroes committee of local community members and a Veteran Heritage Committee of The Stoll Foundation residents.
• Planning and delivering events and activities including workshops, open days, lecture series, committee meetings and field trips.
• Leading the planning and delivery of a temporary exhibition created in collaboration with project beneficiaries and volunteers.
• Tracking and reporting on a significant budget.
• Managing the creation of assets including a new Heritage section of The Stoll Foundation website and a physical and digital book compiling memories of Stoll Mansions from the local community.

We are looking for a highly organised, pro-active and confident Digital Communications Officer to join our Campaigns and Communications team. You will work closely with the Digital Communications Manager to support all things digital including social media and website content, as well as coordinating digital content for EUmetriosis, a European funded endometriosis research project. This role is part-funded by the EUmetriosis project.

You’ll be confident working across multiple projects to varying deadlines and enjoy working as part of a small but driven communications and campaigns team, who are passionate about raising awareness and driving change for those with endometriosis.

Endometriosis impacts the physical and mental health of 10% of women and those assigned female at birth, from puberty to menopause - although the impact may be felt for life. It costs the UK economy around £8.2 billion every year in healthcare costs, loss of work and treatments and yet it isn’t recognised by most employers. About the Role
