- Coordinate the delivery of high quality work on time, tracking performance and flagging progress against targets to your manager.
- Access and interpret campaign data via dashboard reporting tools, presenting clear analysis to your manager to inform decisions.
- Handle the process of working with suppliers and agencies independently, including campaign testing and reporting, feeding recommendations and options back to your manager for decisions.
- Have opportunities to work with colleagues across the wider fundraising team on other key projects as they develop.
You will join a motivated and passionate fundraising team. With your help, we will be able to recruit donors for the Supporter Involvement team to develop into long term donors, who will in turn help provide the income we need to expand the support St Mungo's can provide to people experiencing homelessness.
Whilst our main office is currently in Farringdon, London, we are flexible and encourage a blended working pattern including working from home and across other London or St Mungo's hub locations. More details will be provided at interview stage.

About us
Christian Aid exists to create a world where everyone can live a full life, free from poverty. We are a global movement of people, churches and local organisations who passionately champion dignity, equality and justice worldwide. We are the changemakers, the peacemakers, the mighty of heart.
We’re committed to building a diverse and inclusive workplace, and recognise the value this brings in forming strong, creative and high performing teams. We welcome applications from all sections of the community, and from those with experience from outside of the voluntary sector. And no, you don’t have to be Christian to work here – we encourage people of all faiths and none to apply. We just ask that everyone lives out our values of dignity, equality, justice and love. We value a good work-life balance, so we’re open to part-time and flexible working. We also offer hybrid working for our office-based colleagues. This is a homeworking role and you are expected to be in the London office once a month
About the role
Reporting in to the Church Engagement & Fundraising Advisor, the Church Engagement & Fundraising Officer is a proactive fundraising and church engagement role.
You will be out in churches and communities across London and the home counties, building new relationships, strengthening existing high-value support, and inspiring churches to give, act and pray with Christian Aid.
You will identify and approach prospective churches, pick up the phone to book meetings, speak confidently in church services and local gatherings, and make compelling asks that lead to increased giving and deeper engagement.
This is a remote team to facilitate post holders to be proactively present in local church communities. Much of your impact will come from being out and about: visiting churches, meeting clergy and volunteers, attending local events, speaking at services, and building relationships face to face. You should expect regular travel across London and the home counties, including some evenings and weekends.
We are looking for someone who is energised by being out in the community, not someone looking for a primarily desk-based role.
In this role, success will mean:
- building a strong pipeline of churches and groups with the potential to support Christian Aid;
- securing meetings, speaking opportunities and invitations into church spaces;
- inspiring churches to increase their giving, particularly around appeals and key fundraising moments;
- strengthening relationships with current high-value church supporters so they feel known, thanked and encouraged;
- equipping volunteers and local champions to extend Christian Aid’s reach;
- using insight, data and local knowledge to prioritise the relationships with greatest potential.
A significant part of this role will be proactive new relationship-building. You will not only respond to churches already connected with Christian Aid; you will identify new opportunities, approach churches and leaders, and work creatively to open doors for giving, fundraising, campaigning and prayer.
About you
Who we are looking for:
Essential:
- Demonstrable experience driving fundraising and relationship building.
- Knowledge of church audiences across all denominations.
- Experience of mentoring volunteers to add capacity, skills and aptitude to empower and support them.
- Detailed knowledge of the principles of good donor management or customer care, and understanding of the principles of relationship building.
- Developed communication skills to inspire others to take action and use their skills and resources to fundraise and donate.
- Developed communication skills to communicate complex messages creatively and effectively to diverse audiences.
- An ability to analyse and interpret information and data to prioritise work and achieve results.
- Organisational skills to work under pressure and manage competing priorities to deliver multiple concurrent activities.
- The ability to travel frequently to locations, including some evenings and weekends.
Desirable:
- Knowledge of current fundraising legislation and good practice.
- Knowledge of relevant church networks and denominational structures.
- Ability to effectively portray development messages in a theological context.
- Knowledge of global development issues and Christian Aid’s work.
- Good knowledge of the London and South East geographical region.
This role would suit you if you are a confident relationship-builder who enjoys getting out into communities, opening doors and inspiring people to act. You might come from community fundraising, church engagement, major donor engagement, sales, business development, volunteer mobilisation or a church-facing role with clear fundraising experience.
You will need to be confident talking with churches, meeting ambitious targets, comfortable making asks for financial support, and motivated by helping local communities turn faith, generosity and concern for global justice into practical action.
Further information
At Christian Aid we strive to be an inclusive and diverse employer and recognise the value that this brings in helping to build strong, creative and high performing teams.
We are actively encouraging racialised minorities, LGBTQ+, people with disabilities, returning parents or carers who are re-entering work after a career break, people with caring responsibilities, people from low socioeconomic backgrounds, women, and older workers to apply. This is because these groups are under-represented within our teams, especially at senior level, and we recognise and value the contributions members of these groups make to strong, creative and high performing teams.
We have a strong Christian ethos and we encourage applications from all faiths. Applicants will be expected to demonstrate an understanding of and sympathy with Christian Aid’s faith identity.
All successful candidates will require a DBS/police check appropriate to the role and location and a Counter Terrorism Sanction check as part of your clearance for commencing your role with us. We also participate in the Inter Agency Misconduct Disclosure Scheme. In line with this Scheme, we will request information as part of the referencing process from job applicants’ previous employers about any findings of sexual exploitation, sexual abuse and/or sexual harassment during employment, or incidents under investigation when the applicant left employment. By submitting an application, the job applicant confirms their understanding of these recruitment procedures.
This role requires applicants to have the right to live and work in the country where this position is based and undertake the role that you have been offered. If you are successful and we make you an offer for the role, we will be required to conduct a right to work check on your immigration status in the UK. We will contact you regarding the documentation you will need to provide to evidence this.

Our vision is a thriving world, fed sustainably.
With a nonprofit entity in Belgium, a branch in the UK and colleagues working from seven other countries that make up GFI Europe, we are also part of an international network of affiliates. We are looking for an Executive Director to lead GFI Europe’s strategy and team, play a key role in shaping and advancing GFI’s global strategy, and foster the relationships and organisational strength needed to accelerate the shift towards a resilient and sustainable food system.
How you will make a difference
You will have high responsibility and high impact. Reporting to, and appointed by, the Board of GFI Europe, you will lead a ~50-person team working from nine European countries.
You will:
-
Enable strategic focus:
-
Align the team around a clear and compelling organisational direction that aligns with the GFI network’s mission and theory of change.
-
Translate organisational direction into high-level priorities in collaboration with GFI Europe’s Leadership Team.
-
Ensure Europe’s strategic decisions are made well – soliciting the right input from the right people, preserving autonomy in areas of specific expertise, and making decisions when organisation-wide trade-offs are required.
-
Take ultimate responsibility for maximising outcomes and impact in pursuit of our mission.
-
-
Provide leadership to the team:
-
Empower, develop and inspire a high-performing, people-centric team.
-
Lead GFI Europe’s Leadership Team, formed of six department heads, ensuring they continue to function on a ‘first-team’ basis to achieve organisational objectives.
-
Champion and uphold a values-driven culture built upon transparency, autonomy, collaboration, accountability, and psychological safety. Champion the integration of diversity, equity and inclusion into the team’s day-to-day work.
-
-
Represent GFI Europe in GFI’s international network:
-
Participate in international strategic and coordination workstreams as a member of GFI’s Regional Leadership Group, comprising GFI’s affiliate leads.
-
Act as the primary liaison between GFI’s affiliates and European teams on strategies, processes and goals. Ensure the Europe team can successfully connect with, influence, support and navigate a complex international network, including global workstreams such as fundraising and impact reporting.
-
Participate in discussions about global strategy and resource allocation so as to maximise GFI’s overall mission impact, including communicating GFI Europe’s strategy, resourcing needs and contributions as part of the international GFI network.
-
-
Represent GFI Europe in front of donors and external stakeholders:
-
Work closely with global and Europe-based fundraising teams to help ensure GFI achieves its fundraising goals.
-
Build and maintain strong relationships with donors, prospective supporters and key stakeholders.
-
Serve as a public representative of, and spokesperson for, the organisation by speaking at conferences, events, and with the media.
-
-
Oversee organisational health:
-
Ensure strong governance, legal compliance, financial sustainability and reporting in partnership with the Board and the Head of Operations.
-
Be the main legal representative of the organisation, reviewing and signing all legally relevant agreements and organisational documents.
-
-
Perform other duties as appropriate.
Core capabilities needed to succeed in this role:
-
Mission alignment. A passion for GFI’s philosophy and mission.
-
Strategic judgement. Strong analytical skills and sound judgement, being able to absorb and process a range of types of information, understand the activities that GFI undertakes, and provide leadership and guidance to team members. You have the experience and ability to make strategic trade-offs across projects, functions, teams, countries/regions, programmes, etc – weighing resource allocation, prioritising impact, and communicating those decisions clearly and inclusively to stakeholders.
-
Thoughtful leadership. You align teams behind a clear and impactful vision. You know when to persevere and when to change course, and have led people, both directly and indirectly, to deliver impact. You trust the people closest to the work to make decisions, and you address hard topics when they truly matter. You own mistakes and make a genuine effort to learn and grow from them. You are intentional about remote leadership.

Understanding the wider context. You can make sense of the political, economic and cultural forces shaping Europe’s food system today and are adept at drawing on patterns and ideas from outside our field to identify possible implications for GFI Europe’s next move.
-
Excellent people skills. High emotional intelligence and an ability to diplomatically engage across perspectives, being able to build and maintain trust with colleagues and stakeholders across multiple cultures, viewpoints and needs within Europe and beyond.
-
Financial literacy. Skilled at overseeing substantial financial resources, including partnering with the operations team on resource allocation. You have held accountability for a significant organisational budget and can interpret financial data to make sound, well-informed decisions.
-
Fundraising acumen. You understand how GFI’s strategy, culture, and mission impact shape the organisation’s ability to raise funds and steward donors, and you’re enthusiastic about partnering with the fundraising team to make this happen. You bring an understanding of the philanthropic sector and donor relationships, or of fundraising in other sectors (eg, the private sector or government), while deferring to the fundraising team’s expertise on how donor relationships are best managed.
-
Strong communication skills. An ability to convincingly articulate and explain our mission and work and to represent the organisation in the media, with programmatic stakeholders, and with donors. Comfort adapting your tone and message for different audiences across diverse cultures, and excellent verbal and written English skills.
-
Flexible approach to work. We estimate that travel will account for approximately six weeks of the year. This will likely consist of two GFI Europe team-wide retreats (3-5 days each), one leadership retreat (2-3 days), other sporadic trips generally lasting 1-3 days, and occasional longer trips of approximately 5-7 days (for conferences and donor or partner meetings across Europe and internationally). In addition, you will need occasional flexibility in your working hours to accommodate coordination with other affiliates around the world.
-
Integrity. You do what you say you’ll do, and are discreet when handling confidential information.
It would be an advantage to have the following, though none are prerequisites:
-
Sector familiarity. Familiarity with or experience working in the food system, alternative proteins or an adjacent sector in Europe.
-
Impact leadership. Strong knowledge and/or experience of being part of the leadership team of a nonprofit, think tank or other social impact-focused organisation.
-
Governance and compliance experience. Experience with legal representation and board reporting, and/or experience working on nonprofit compliance, especially in Belgium.
-
Fundraising partnership experience. You’ve contributed to fundraising in a supportive capacity – whether managing a fundraising function, advising on donor and prospect strategy, joining donor conversations alongside a development team, or shaping fundraising strategy at an executive level.
-
Network experience. Experience working in one or more network models (eg, affiliate or franchise-style, federation, confederation, etc).
-
Languages. The ability to work in European languages in addition to English.

You will take the lead in developing, testing, learning and growing the direct marketing programme and developing supporter journeys both online and offline. You’ll develop our email marketing and online supporter journeys for now and the future.
This is a broad, varied role, and we don’t expect you to arrive as an expert in everything. Whether your background is in individual giving, community fundraising, legacies, digital or data, if you are a confident communicator and comfortable managing relationships with compassion and determination, this is the role for you.
Key responsibilities:
- Work with the Head of Income Generation and Engagement to develop the individual giving strategy and contribute to annual planning, budgeting and KPIs.
- Create a sustainable individual giving programme, increasing the supporter base across all channels and developing strategies to engage and motivate supporters.

- Ensure compliance of the individual giving programme, escalating risks to the Head of Income Generation and Engagement.
- Ensure data collection, management, use, storage and destruction comply with data protection law and best practice.
- Engage with staff and volunteers on the importance of fundraising from individuals and how their individual roles can enhance fundraising opportunities.
- Work closely with other members of staff to ensure individual giving products and initiatives are integrated with other areas of the charity, such as brand and marketing programmes, retail development and homing campaigns.
Essential skills and experience:
- Experience of working in an individual giving, direct marketing, community, or general fundraising role.
- Experience of delivering income growth and establishing new programmes of activity.
- Ability to manage and monitor external suppliers and agencies (copywriters, designers, mailing houses, platform developers, etc.) to maximise outcomes.
- Demonstrable experience of donor development, journeys and stewardship.
- Proficient written and verbal communicator with the ability to adapt tone to engage and inspire different audiences and write compelling fundraising copy.
- Excellent stewardship skills with the ability to communicate with supporters via letter, email, telephone and face to face with care and compassion.
- Able to plan and prioritise independently across several income streams.

- Have empathy and enthusiasm for the mission of the Greyhound Trust.
You don't need to have all of this – if you have strong individual giving or communications experience and are excited to grow into legacies and digital, we'd love to hear from you.
You will be required to work or provide support outside of standard working hours for events and operational needs, so flexibility is key. This post and its role requirement will develop with the needs of the charity.
