ABOUT THIS ROLE

In the past five years of running our Charity Entrepreneurship Incubation Program, we have found that the best predictor of which incubated charities will end up causing the highest impact is the quality of the co-founding team. As we scale up, one of our biggest bottlenecks is identifying highly talented, value-aligned people out of the thousands of candidates from all over the world who apply to our programs. The difference in outcomes between a bad and a good hire can be huge, but this variation is even more extreme when it comes to co-founders. The initial staff of an organization set the pace, tone, and culture for the long-term. We estimate the impact of each average alumna/alumnus of our Charity Entrepreneurship Incubation Program to be equivalent to donating $200,000-350,000 USD / year to effective charities. Finding 20-30 of these gems each year is difficult but is incredibly impactful. As such, the Recruitment Manager is one of the most important roles we are hiring for. 

The Recruitment Manager will focus on:

• Vetting multi-stage application processes (application forms, test tasks, interviews and psychometrics)

• Improving and adjusting our processes (e.g. coming up with predictive interview questions for new job roles; improving existing questions and tasks on the basis of data collected)

• Developing and formalizing a deep understanding of what traits, motivations, and personality types will be successful in different kinds of career paths and roles

• (if interested and a strong fit) Working with our outreach team to develop and execute marketing strategies that speak to the right people, inform them about our supported career paths, and help them apply

• (if interested and a strong fit) Managing or co-managing the recruitment team

The kinds of tasks involved in this look something like this:

• Evaluating hundreds of application forms and test tasks to figure out which are the most promising, using a wide range of information, formal and informal clues, and heuristics

• Evaluating and conducting candidate interviews to help identify and select the most promising candidates to join our programs

• Formalizing informal hiring heuristics into rubrics and learning algorithms (no programming required)

• Project managing each application round to ensure each candidate gets useful, timely, and relevant test tasks and information on next steps

• Analyzing historical data to pull out findings for future rounds (here’s an older public example)

• Conducting interviews with successful applicants to create feedback loops for improving our processes

• Automating aspects of the process to increase scalability and reduce staff time

• Conducting interviews with experts in vetting and hiring to determine cross-applicable lessons that we can apply

• Building models and character profiles of ideal candidates and talking to alumni from our programs to refine and improve these

• Running analysis and back correlations on historically successful founders to identify traits that may define the most promising applicants

The role

Main areas of responsibility

This is a key senior role within the Fundraising Directorate, collaborating closely with the Senior Corporate Manager – New Business the Fundraising Leadership Team to grow income and awareness from corporate sources.

The key focus of the role will be:

• Successfully lead the Corporate Partnerships account team to develop and deliver on our ambitious growth strategy across existing partnerships.
• Working collaboratively with the Senior Corporate Manager – New Business to deliver a seamless strategy, focussing on the transition of partners through business planning and maximising lifetime value.

Responsibilities

The Royal Hospital Chelsea is the home of the Chelsea Pensioners. It has a rich history and provides supported accommodation, residential and nursing care for some 300 retired soldiers. An exciting opportunity has arisen at the Royal Hospital Chelsea where we are seeking an exceptional individual to join the Chelsea Pensioners Veterans’ Outreach  (CPVO ) team in a new role as a Veterans’ Outreach Officer. 

 The CPVO programme is aimed at extending an offer to older service veterans, inviting them to engage with our In Pensioners and enjoy the sense of community and comradeship that is at the heart of the Chelsea Pensioner community. While most of our programme activity is centred on the Royal Hospital Chelsea estate in London, the programme seeks to expand in reach to other UK regions where there is a sizeable veteran population who might benefit from engagement with our team of Chelsea Pensioners, staff and volunteers. There are also plans to develop a digital offer.

 The Veterans’ Outreach Officer will support  the Head of Veterans’ Outreach in developing and managing the programme of activities encouraging engagement and social interaction between Chelsea Pensioners and other service veterans thereby helping to alleviate the social isolation and loneliness felt by many older veterans. Responsibilities will include promoting the programme within veterans' networks and finding innovative ways to connect with veterans; the management of themed events both at the Royal Hospital Chelsea and further afield as we seek to expand nationwide. The role also involves significant data collection and analysis to inform the strategy, evaluate delivery, and identify fundraising opportunities.

The Thalidomide Trust is seeking a collaborative, inspiring and empathetic leader to join as our next Director of Health & Wellbeing, providing leadership to a committed and expert team as we work to deliver the best possible support to thalidomide survivors as they enter older age.

The Thalidomide Trust was established as a registered charity in 1973 to support individuals living with disabilities caused by their mothers taking thalidomide during pregnancy. Today, our support encompasses financial grants and guidance, together with comprehensive health and wellbeing support (including emotional support). We also undertake research to better understand the needs of our beneficiaries and provide vital information resources for professionals working with them. Secure funding means we can focus entirely on how to improve the lives of our beneficiaries.

We assist 430 beneficiaries, most of whom the Trust has worked with since they were children. We are often the first port of call for any issues they face. As our beneficiaries are now in their 60s, we must continue to evolve to meet their changing needs. The Trust is approaching a crucial transition point - effectively becoming an older person’s charity over the next 10-20 years, as the group’s needs become ever more complex and diverse. We must ensure we are ready to provide much-needed support to our beneficiaries as they face the typical challenges of aging that impact them more as thalidomide survivors, as well as the unique impacts and accelerated aging caused by thalidomide damage.

Our current Director of Health & Wellbeing is taking on the Joint Chief Executive role with our existing Executive Director. This means we need a new Director of Health & Wellbeing to join in October this year to lead our fantastic, 12-strong team of health & wellbeing professionals though this transition period. Trust Fundraising Lead

The Brendoncare Foundation is seeking an experienced Trust Fundraising Lead to join our dedicated and growing fundraising team. The role will lead on the development of our trust fundraising strategy, from development of the Case for Support, through to donor stewardship, application writing and submission.

Our fundraising programme is a vital support for our vision of transforming the culture of ageing.

The day-to-day of this role will include working with our delivery teams to devise projects for funding, ensuring you have the information required to make this a success. You will hold relationships with key trust donors, organising meetings pre application and building relationships with new donors to improve success rates.

Applications will include specified and restricted projects, general unrestricted funding and capital projects as required. This role will lead on all applications below £25,000 per year and support the Head of Fundraising with applications larger than this.

What will I be doing?

Strategy, research and prospect development

• Develop and implement a comprehensive Trust Fundraising strategy, aligned with the financial targets and goals set by the organisation.
• Research and develop a large trust pipeline including warm and cold donors

Case for Support and application writing

• Draft specific applications from the case for support to meet donor requirements, ensuring applications are engaging, detailed and accurate
• Lead on collating data for the need of our services, pulling together research and working with delivery teams to collate impact data
• Working against specific KPIs for application submissions and income targets, reporting to Head of Fundraising against these monthly

Reporting

• Lead on the writing of reports to Trusts from which we have received funding
• Lead on engaging with the Trust after having received funding to keep them warm to future applications

Relationships

• Work collaboratively with the fundraising team, Trustees, care homes and community / club services team, staff and the central office team.
• Create and maintain effective relationships with external contacts to include prospective donors, community groups, volunteers and supporters.
• Support the wider work of the fundraising team where required, including at occasional evening and weekend events.

Maintain records of all donor and prospect relationships on our CRM system.

• Maintain high standards of donor care and stewardship.
• Keep abreast of fundraising activity and trends across the charity community, corporate and events sector.
• Maintain an in-depth knowledge of Brendoncare’s work, in order to develop a compelling case for support for a range of projects and initiatives.

Corporate Responsibilities

What do I need to have to apply?

 Essential requirements

• Demonstrable experience of achieving income targets through trust and grants fundraising through submission of high-quality applications and effective donor stewardship.
• Minimum of 2 years in a grant writing role
• Successful 5 figure multi-year applications
• Experience of working in a target driven environment, ideally within a fundraising team
• Experience of using IT software including Microsoft Office and a fundraising Customer Relationships Management Tool

FareShare is the UK’s national network of charitable food redistributors, made up of 18 independent organisations. Together, we take good quality surplus food from right across the food industry and get it to nearly 8,500 frontline charities and community groups.

The role

We are looking for an enthusiastic and collaborative and versatile finance business partner to join us at this time of growth. Reporting to Head of Finance, and working alongside other Finance Business Partners, you will be responsible for providing your financial expertise and support to our key stakeholders, playing an important part in enabling us to meet our ambitious strategy.

This is an exciting role in a supportive and well established finance team, giving you the opportunity to further develop the finance function and shape your role. You will bring strong communication, analytical and systems skills, as well as flexiblity and motivation to engage in cross organisational projects.

Main areas of responsibility

Business partnering:

• Provide a high-quality financial support to the nominated internal stakeholders. These may vary and will include some of the following: Food, Supply Chain & Logistics teams, Network Partner support, Operational centres (warehouses) and Support functions.
• Deliver monthly management accounts and KPI reporting for the nominated stakeholders. Monitor spend and provide financial insight and expertise to drive the delivery in line with FareShare’s strategic direction.
• Collaborate with the nominated internal stakeholders to develop and manage budgets and forecasts.
• Enhance financial reporting and analysis and develop KPI capabilities for the nominated stakeholders.
• Coach budget holders on finance systems and processes to develop effective budget management and controls.
• Provide cover for other Finance Business Partners when required, mainly around month end processes and management account reporting.

Financial accounting:

• Involvement in month end processes: produce month end journals, conduct balance sheet reconciliations for the nominated business centres.
• Support with the development and monitoring compliance of the financial policies and processes and controls.
• Oversee financial aspects of grants, ensuring compliance and accurate reporting to funders.

People and / or project management:

• Provide financial guidance and support to the finance transactional team.
• Line manage (or dotted line management responsibilities, dependant on experience) the finance offices in the operational centres (warehouses).
• Lead on process improvements in the business areas of responsibility.
• Provide any other support as and when required.
• Some travel to the operational centres and network partners, across the UK, will be required.

Person Specification

 Skills, experience and abilities

• CIMA/ACCA/ACA fully qualified or equivalent experience
• Business partnering experience, preferably in a similar size organisation and business model. Experience in the commercial Supply Chain & Logistics industry will be of advantage.
• A good track record in managing month end processes
• Strong financial accounting background
• Advanced Excel skills and experience using a range of accounting software and financial reporting tools
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to adapt a style to various stakeholders
• Ability to build effective relationships across teams, ensuring staff are supported, motivated and challenged to achieve objectives
• Line management experience will be of advantage
• Strong analytical and problem solving skills
• Ability to adapt and influence change
• An understanding of either the food industry and/or the logistics industry would be advantageous

Disability Advice Service Lambeth (dasl) is Lambeth’s peer-led Disabled People’s Organisation.

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Community Wellbeing Support Worker to join our Flintshire Wellbeing service. This role does not provide direct basic care but is focused on motivating and supporting individuals to identify their own goals as well as developing self-management strategies to improve their health and wellbeing and maintain their independence.

This role will ensure that guided conversations are led by the individual and that they are at the centre of everything we do.This is a new service commissioned by Flintshire County Council on behalf of health and social care partners through the Welsh Government Regional Integration Fund. The service has been commissioned to fill a gap identified within existing service provision.

The successful candidate will play a vital role in helping individuals improve their overall well-being and make positive lifestyle changes following a recent hospital admission.

The Flintshire Wellbeing service aims to support individuals for a period of up to 6 weeks following hospital discharge. We work collaboratively with individuals to help them identify their strengths, overcome limiting beliefs, and develop practical strategies for achieving their goals at home and within their community.

A key element of this role will be to work with the individual and co-design a personalised action plan. From this information, meaningful functional goals and outcomes are developed with the individual, to promote wellbeing, autonomy, independence, and choice. This approach aims to ‘enable people to be and to do what they have reason to value’

About the role:

As the Trusts and Foundations Fundraiser you will use your core knowledge and skill to reflect on strategy, relationship building and leading our charitable profile and income streams.

Coram IAC, is a Voluntary Adoption Agency, which specialises in Intercountry Adoptions. This position is a member of the Leadership Team and will have a pivotal role in leading, developing and managing a range of operational adoptions services, ensuring that they meet the needs of children we are providing services for, including all legal, policies, guidelines, and internal standards. They will play a key role in helping to develop new services and where appropriate will take operational control of these.

About the Role

The Head of Service post holder will take the lead responsibility (under Ofsted registration) as the Adoption Manager of Coram IAC. They will ensure the ongoing delivery of an outstanding VAA that is fully compliant with national minimum standards and regulations; and ensuring high quality adoption support and a sufficient supply of adopters that reflects the diversity of the countries they are adopting from.

Applying to adopt in the UK is open to anyone already in the process with Coram IAC but we do not actively recruit domestic adopters like other VAAs. Approved Intercountry Adopters may however request to change their approval advice to the UK if they are considered a suitable match for children available and waiting for permanence through Adoption in the UK.

Coram IAC predominantly serve prospective adopters from the global majority and as such recruit and train a highly diverse and skilled group of adopters to enable the best outcomes for children whilst also offering adopter and sector diversity for potentially harder to place children. This includes family groups and older children. Our offer to RAAs via our domestic program therefore delivers families for children who often wait the longest in the care system.
