Swarthmoor Hall in Ulverston is a place of international significance as the birth of the Quaker movement in 1652.  It now comprises the historic Hall as a visitor attraction with gardens, a busy café and shop, on site holiday accommodation and facilities for the local community.  Swarthmoor Hall has lots to offer local visitors and tourists and it is a great place to work with an excellent team. 

We have plans to develop the attraction further in 2026, and this along with increasing visitor numbers means we need some new staff. The site is currently open on Wednesday to Friday as well as on some weekend and bank holidays; in 2026 this will move to being open on Wednesday to Saturday.

We are looking for a new Hospitality/Commercial Supervisor covering the cafe and shop. The duties and the hours are outlined below, but there is flexibility for the right person.

You’ll be a motivated and flexible person, confident in running all aspects of a small café and/or retail site.  You will be confident, friendly and a strong team player, able to work alone and with others and able to supervise some staff and volunteers.

About the opportunity
This role plays a key part in supporting the wider Action Tutoring team with HR and Safeguarding matters and sits within the Finance, HR and Operations Department, reporting to the Head of People and Culture.

Duties and responsibilities

Safer recruitment for staff and volunteer tutors

• Responsible for ensuring staff and volunteer tutor safer recruitment records and related checks are up date and complete.
• Collecting references and ensuring they meet our standard requirements. 
• Conducting ID calls for volunteer tutor DBS checks.
• Processing DBS checks and DBS update service checks.

Safeguarding

• Undertaking an initial triage of safeguarding concerns and incidents raised by members of the team and referring to senior staff as necessary. 
• Maintaining and overseeing the tutor safeguarding refresher training using a dashboard
• Compiling safeguarding data into termly reports for the team and board.

HR

• Supporting the Head of People and Culture with recruitment processes. This will include preparing paperwork relating to the selection process and offers of employment and following up with applicants and the hiring manager to ensure both sides have a quality hiring experience.

Main Purpose of Role:

The Programme Support and Administrative Officer will play a key role in ensuring the smooth operation of CFAB’s programmes and organisational functions. This role supports executive coordination, training delivery, family support administration, international social work logistics, and general office management. Our Development Team

The Donmar has an exceptional ability to raise private funds, and the vital importance of fundraising is recognised across the organisation and embedded in the overall strategy. Each year we raise around half our income through fundraising from a varied number of sources, with corporate income representing around a third of the fundraised income. Purpose of the role

The Development Events Manager will be responsible for the planning, administration and delivery of all development events at the Donmar Warehouse, working alongside the Head of Trusts and Events and with support from the Events Administrator.

Key Responsibilities: Deputy Treasurer

   • ensure the Wessex Trust is managing the assets of the Synod in an appropriate manner and in accordance with its strategy and policies 
   • report on the Synod’s financial matters and budgets to the Synod Executive and Trust
   • ensure that policies, operations and priorities are in keeping with the aims of the Wessex Synod. 
   • participate in the Synod Executive’s regular review of the Wessex Synod’s governance structure 
   • attend relevant Assembly level meetings for matters of concern to Synod Treasurers 
   • liaise with the Treasurers of the 12 other Synods, with a particular focus on commitments to Inter-Synod Resource Sharing.

The Campus Accommodation and Hospitality Manager will lead a team of reception and housekeeping staff to deliver and administer a full range of campus services. As well as providing an efficient and welcoming reception service, this includes the management of meeting rooms, accommodation booking, achieving and maintaining high standards of housekeeping, and overseeing contracted catering and refreshment services. The postholder will be part of a committed staff team, giving and receiving support to deliver the operational needs of the Foundation in a way which reflects our ethos of hospitality, care and community. 

This is a full-time role, with some evening and weekend work during weekend residentials and other events. The postholder will also participate in an out-of-hours on-call rota.

Key responsibilities

1. To manage the delivery of accommodation and hospitality operations.

This role provides comprehensive administrative and organisational support to senior management, ensuring the smooth running of daily operations. As part of the region team the PA act as the first point of contact, managing communications, schedules, and confidential matters with the utmost professionalism and discretion. Job purpose

Lead and support the delivery of high-quality local services by working collaboratively with your team to ensure daily, uninterrupted provision. Scope of role

The Advice Manager is responsible for the effective national management and delivery of the Mental Health Crisis Breathing Space (MHCBS) service. This role oversees day-to-day operations, ensuring that advice provision meets the highest standards of quality, consistency, and compliance in line with both Toynbee Hall and Money and Pensions Service (MaPS) frameworks. Working closely with technical supervisors, quality managers, the Head of Quality and Compliance, and the contract organisation lead, the Advice Manager will ensure the service is performing effectively and meeting contractual targets.

The postholder will bring significant experience in debt advice delivery, including the ability to manage complex cases, creditor challenges, and service escalations with professionalism and sound judgement. They will lead and support a dispersed, largely remote team, oversee auditing and training, maintain oversight of billables, and ensure resources are used effectively. This role requires a balance of operational leadership and technical expertise to maintain service excellence across all areas of delivery.

• Qualified & Experienced: Level 4 Debt Advice qualification and at least 1 year as a Debt Advisor.

This vacancy is a full-time, 12-month contract (maternity cover) offered with flexibility on hybrid work (2 days per week in the office).

In this role, you will act as the first point of contact for the Director, managing their diary, inbox, communications and meeting preparations with care, discretion and efficiency. You will help coordinate leadership activities and support projects across the Directorate, ensuring key actions are followed through and priorities are well managed. The role involves preparing high-quality written materials such as reports, briefing papers and correspondence, as well as organising meetings, travel arrangements and logistical arrangements. You will also take a lead role in coordinating time-limited projects, overseeing financial processes such as expenses and invoice administration, and collaborating with the wider leadership support team to maintain strong communication and consistent ways of working.

We are looking for an experienced Personal Assistant or Executive Assistant who is an effective relationship-builder, with substantial experience supporting senior leaders in a fast-paced, complex environment. You will have a strong track record of managing busy diaries, drafting professional communications, taking accurate minutes and overseeing meeting logistics. You will be comfortable prioritising competing demands, solving problems independently and handling sensitive information with professionalism. Strong IT skills, particularly within Microsoft Office, are essential, alongside the ability to work both collaboratively and autonomously. It is important to have the ability to bring initiative, excellent communication skills, confidence, and a solutions-focused approach. Experience working with volunteers, within a charity, or in a membership-based organisation is advantageous, but not essential.
