The Bid Writer will work in our Business Development Team, planning, developing and writing high quality bid submissions that convey the organisation’s mission, values and expertise to commissioners and funders.

You will be responsible for coordinating strong tender submissions, resulting in successful outcomes. You will help ensure Cranstoun retains all existing contracts and wins new business, in line with the organisation’s strategic plans and targets for growth.

Within this role, you will work collaboratively with a variety of internal stakeholders, using exceptional writing and interpersonal skills to capture and convey Cranstoun’s approach to delivering services across a variety of areas.

We are seeking a confident self-starter, with demonstrable experience of high quality writing and clear evidence of successful outcomes in a business development context (70% success rate). We are seeking an experienced and talented ‘Marketing and Communications Planning Partner’ to lead the co-ordination of our marcomms planning process.

The position sits across both our strategic communications and marketing functions in the Digital Technology & Communications directorate and has a responsibility for ensuring that there are plans in place to effectively prioritise our marketing and communications year-round. Their role is to develop audience-focussed, channel-agnostic marcomms plans, which are rooted in our corporate strategy and build from the principles of our brand, ensuring that we are engaging audiences for impactful outcomes. 

The ideal candidate will have a successful track record coordinating complex marketing and communications plans for a large organisation and able to quickly collate and analyse information. They will enjoy building trusted and respectful relationships across the organisation with which to bring greater collaboration.

Main responsibilities:

• Consistent management of our annual marcomms planning process, through which marketing and communications can be successfully scoped and prioritised. 
• Agreeing marketing and communications priorities with senior leads as part of an annual, quarterly, monthly and weekly planning process, ensuring that our approach delivers value for the organisation and a more relevant experience for audiences. 
• Ensure that our plans align with the corporate strategy and are effectively designed to enable the RSPB to grow and retain audiences.
• Coordinate evaluations to measure the effectiveness of our marketing and communications and help to identify actionable insights which can enhance our strategy.
• Collaborate with the Planning & Delivery team to ensure a smooth end to end process from marcomms planning into activity (tactical) planning, working to adapt plans according to feasibility assessments
• Working closely with stakeholders on any emerging trends or issues which may result in a change to our plans and priorities and working with key leads to develop planning in response to this, allowing the organisation to respond effectively to new opportunities and to mitigate risk.
• Oversee continued improvement in our approach to planning and prioritisation, resulting in better collaboration within the organisation, an enhanced experience for stakeholders and ultimately ensuring that we can reach the right audience, with the right message at the right time

Essential skills, knowledge and experience:

• Experience of complex marketing & communications planning to achieve specified outcomes
• Ability to engage in negotiation with all levels, managing expectations and influencing aligned with objectives
• Experience of successfully managing complex projects, involving multiple stakeholders, from start to finish
• Strong relationship building and stakeholder management skills
• Experience of coordinating evaluation of activities and using this information to drive insight led decisions
• Able to demonstrate continual learning in the field of communications
• Excellent writing, planning and verbal communication skills
• Ability to quickly collate, analyse and comprehend large amounts of information
• Strong communication skills with an ability to listen and understand stakeholder issues

We’re looking for an enthusiastic Communications and Events Coordinator lead the development and delivery of Khulisa’s communications strategy and key campaigns, designed to engage our supporters, stakeholders, and the wider UK public.

About Khulisa: 

Khulisa, meaning 'nurture' in the Zulu language of South Africa, is an award-winning charity dedicated to providing therapeutic support to young people. We focus on reaching those who are most at risk – young people from deprived communities who are often marginalized, vulnerable to exclusion, and at heightened risk of becoming involved in crime.

Our approach centres on safe, exploratory methods that aim to understand behaviour and experiences often rooted in trauma, abuse, and neglect. We deliver intensive therapeutic programs within educational and community settings, empowering young people to confront the underlying causes of their emotional distress and work toward healing. To create lasting, sustainable change, we also work to establish trauma-informed environments around young people by equipping parents, caregivers, educators, and other professionals with the tools they need to offer effective, supportive care. Currently, our services are active in London and Manchester. 

About the role: 

This role will be a key part of helping to raise awareness of Khulisa’s mission and the issues we address, strengthening support for our programmes. The postholders will also take ownership of planning and delivering all Khulisa events, ensuring they are impactful and well-executed.

• Develop and deliver Khulisa’s Communications and Branding Strategy in line with the strategic plan.
• Lead public engagement campaigns to raise awareness, promote youth voice, and drive participation.
• Plan and manage events, including fundraising and challenge events, from concept to delivery.
• Create and manage digital content across social media, website, newsletters, and other channels.
• Recruit and supervise volunteers to support communications and event-related activities.

About the role

Our passionate Regional Casework Coordinators are SSAFA’s front line of support for members of the armed forces community in need. They are the first point of contact for all beneficiaries into the Regional Office, assessing needs and allocating the case to one of our volunteer caseworkers.

You will sometimes handle complex problems from individuals who may be distressed, identifying the presenting and potential underlying needs to determine the best way to support the beneficiary. You will have ownership of cases from beginning to end, coordinating the casework process in a timely manner and ensure that the beneficiary journey is at the centre of the Service. You will have the opportunity to shape processes and procedures within the office which will lead to improvements in the service offered to clients.

To help you establish yourself in this new post you will receive excellent training and induction to SSAFA.

Whilst the post is homebased, to be eligible for this role you are required to live in the North East England or Yorkshire region, which includes North, South, East and West Yorkshire, Teesside, County Durham, Tyne & Wear and Northumberland. There will be occasional travel around these areas, and you may be required to travel at short notice for face-to-face meetings.

About the team

The team work remotely and pride themselves in maintaining a close working bond which ensures the smooth operation of the office. You will work closely with volunteers from the eight SSAFA branches in the Northeast and Yorkshire, supporting them to administer casework for SSAFA beneficiaries. The successful candidate will work as part of a team 8, which includes a Regional Casework Manager and a Regional Manager for Casework and Community Engagement.

About you

To carry out this role successfully you will have a track record of providing welfare advice in key areas such as housing, benefits, debt, disability, mobility or immigration issues. You will have knowledge of safeguarding and GDPR and experience in dealing with sensitive information and people in vulnerable situations. You will be able to provide excellent customer service by telephone, e-mail and face to face. You will have used Microsoft Office 365 to a high standard. It is important that you have experience of planning and managing your own workload, with minimal supervision.

It would be advantageous if you have an understanding of the way of life for today’s Armed Forces, veterans and their families and if you have experience of recruiting and supporting volunteers. An understanding of the voluntary sector and preferably the military charity sector landscape across the Northeast and Yorkshire would be valuable.
