HR Project Administrator

We’re looking for a proactive and detail-oriented HR Project Administrator to support the smooth running of the charity’s flexible workforce model, ensuring efficient recruitment, onboarding, and staffing coordination across national services.

About the Role
As HR Project Admin (Flexible Workforce), you will play a key role in supporting the national flexible staffing model. You’ll be responsible for coordinating temporary worker recruitment, managing workforce records, and helping ensure compliance across all casual staffing processes. Working closely with hiring managers, external agencies and the HR and Finance teams, your work will help ensure effective and cost-conscious staffing across services.

This is an exciting opportunity to support a major operational transformation project, gain exposure to senior leaders, and develop valuable HR and project coordination skills.

Key Responsibilities

· Support recruitment and onboarding of bank and agency staff, including compliance and document checks

· Coordinate and monitor the use of the workforce system (CentralAxis), ensuring managers and workers are fully trained

· Maintain accurate and confidential workforce records in line with GDPR and data protection standards

· Support budget monitoring and reporting on staffing ratios, costs, and agency usage

· Help prepare reports, dashboards and presentations on flexible workforce activity

· Resolve staffing issues including absence, rota conflicts and performance concerns, escalating as needed

· Provide general admin support to the HR and project teams, including scheduling meetings, organising files, and minuting key sessions

What We're Looking For

Qualifications and Experience:

• Qualified by experience, with a minimum of three years in a finance or bookkeeping role
• Previous experience in a charity, arts, or creative environment is desirable
• Experience preparing management accounts and supporting Board-level financial reporting
• Proficient in using accounting software, ideally Xero
• Strong working knowledge of payroll, VAT, and charity finance regulations
• Confident using Microsoft Excel and handling reconciliations, journals, and multi-source income

Knowledge and Skills:

• Clear understanding of financial controls, compliance, and reporting frameworks
• Ability to present financial information to non-financial stakeholders
• Experience overseeing or working alongside bookkeepers or finance assistants

About you and the role

This is a pivotal role, at a pivotal moment for us. We are entering a critical growth phase, which includes rapidly expanding our own operations and managing significant external partnership. As Head of Finance & Systems, you will be accountable for ensuring we have the right systems and structures in place to grow at pace without detriment to good governance.

The purpose of this role is to lead on our finance strategy, and ensure all of our systems, reporting and processes are helping to drive forward the charity and deliver on our objectives at scale. You will work closely with the Chief Executive and Directors to ensure that financial planning is effective and supported by accurate data analysis. You will report directly to Trustees as required and ensure that the highest standards of transparency and probity are maintained. 

You will be joining the team during a period of growth in the size and complexity of our delivery. We currently have 24 employees and anticipate growing significantly in the next twelve months. You will have a crucial role in shaping our systems and processes to ensure we can scale effectively, both our existing programmes and a new membership-based programme that is in development. We’re looking for an experienced finance professional with an interest in effectively using technology and systems to drive efficiency, without compromising on accuracy or compliance. 

You will oversee all financial administration, ensuring this is carried out proficiently and in line with all legal and regulatory requirements, including ultimate responsibility for ensuring that all statutory filings are made accurately and on time. Your role will also encompass ensuring that we operate within legal & regulatory frameworks and stay up to date with changes in relevant legislation.

• Developing a comprehensive financial strategy that supports the delivery of the charity’s objectives and activities

• Ensuring GDPR compliance across the organisation

• Leading an effective risk management process.

Skills & experience:

• You have interest and belief in our mission, to improve kids’ health through improving food and food education in schools

• You have full or partial qualification through an accredited accountancy body 

• You have experience in a senior finance role (e.g., Director, Head of) in any sector, and some experience within a finance function in the 3rd sector (in particular familiarity with Charities SORP and experience of administering restricted funds).

About the role

You’ll join our finance team as a Systems Accountant, bringing strong financial and technical skills. This role is ideal for someone part-qualified with experience in successfully implementing finance systems and improving financial processes. 

You’ll act as a bridge between finance and IT, ensuring financial systems are optimized to meet business needs, driving efficiency, and enhancing financial reporting.

What you'll do

• Support the implementation, development, and continuous improvement of financial systems.

• Collaborate with finance and IT teams to ensure smooth system integration and data accuracy.

• Assist in configuring and testing new financial systems or system enhancements.

• Troubleshoot system issues, liaising with internal stakeholders and external partners.

The Role: Family Co-ordinator (Domestic Abuse Lead)

This vital role leads the delivery of Home-Start Lambeth's domestic abuse work, with a particular focus on empowering survivors to recover and build brilliant new lives for themselves and their children. You will be responsible for managing and delivering the Freedom Programme, recruiting attendees, and continuously developing the program to meet the evolving needs of survivors. You will also oversee volunteer-delivered support to families in their homes to ensure it is targeted and effective in helping families achieve their goals.

Key Responsibilities:

· Leading Domestic Abuse Support: Spearhead Home-Start Lambeth's domestic abuse initiatives, including the development and delivery of the Freedom Programme, ensuring it effectively supports survivors.

· Empowering Survivors: Facilitate recovery and growth for survivors of domestic abuse, helping them build a new life for them and their children.

· Family Assessment and Support: Assess the needs of referred families and oversee volunteer-delivered support to achieve family goals.

· Volunteer Management: Contribute to the recruitment, selection, training, and ongoing support and supervision of our brilliant volunteers.

· Safeguarding: Undertake designated responsibilities to safeguard and promote children’s welfare and that of programme attendees.

· Partnership Working: Build effective relationships with referrers and other partners to promote Home-Start's services across the borough.

· Quality and Compliance: Ensure a high standard of service delivery, maintaining accurate records, and adhering to Home-Start Standards and Methods of Practice.

What we are looking for (Essential):

• A good standard of education (A level, NVQ level 3 or equivalent).
• Direct experience working with children/families from diverse backgrounds.
• Direct experience supporting survivors of domestic abuse.
• A strong understanding of the needs of domestic abuse survivors and families with children under five
• Knowledge of current legislation and policies relating to children and families.
• Commitment to good safeguarding practice and professional confidentiality.
• Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills, including experience providing support over the telephone and through video conferencing.
• Ability to work flexibly, including regular evening work

Desirable, but not essential:

• Qualification in group-based support delivery.
• Relevant professional qualifications (e.g., health visitor, teacher, social worker, childcare).
• An Independent Domestic Violence Advocate qualification or other qualifications in tackling violence against women and girls (VAWG) and/or trauma-based approaches.
• Experience of delivering The Freedom Programme.
• Experience of developing and delivering training and supporting/performance managing volunteers.
• Knowledge of Lambeth and Lambeth children’s support services.

Salary: £31,000 FTE pro rata (actual salary £15,943 p.a.)

This role will lead and manage a team of 9 delivering campaign activities, international programmes and movement building work for the organisation.

War on Want is a radical organisation that runs hard-hitting campaigns against the root causes of poverty and human rights violation, mobilising support and building alliances to fight for human rights, especially workers’ rights, raising public awareness of the root causes of poverty, inequality and injustice, and empowering people to take action for change. We are entering a period of leadership transition as after 8 years our Executive Director is leaving War on Want for a new leadership role in the climate justice movement. Are you experienced at working with young people and the network of professionals who support them?

Apply to join the Carers´ Hub team as our Young Carers Support Worker. This rewarding role sits within the Young Carers Service and the successful candidate will be responsible for undertaking assessment with young carers and their families in order to identify their needs and develop a support plan.

You will work directly with young carers aged 5 and up to achieve positive outcomes, identifying and preventing inappropriate caring responsibilities through whole-family assessments and reviews and ensuring that young carers and their families have access to a range of emotional and practical support appropriate to their needs. You’ll also work closely with the Young Carers Team Leader to support the delivery of our young carers activities programme.

We are looking for someone who has a real passion about our mission and with proven ability in communicating sensitively with children, young people and their families.  You will have excellent organisational skills and be proficient in the use of IT.  You will need to be available for occasional evening and weekend work.

You will have experience working with vulnerable children and young people and will have a strong grasp of the realities of being a young carer in an inner city London borough.
