Role Overview 

We are seeking a proactive, strategic, and driven individual to lead our grant and bid writing function while also developing and managing relationships with corporate donors and partners. You will work closely with senior leadership to secure vital income through trusts, foundations, and businesses that align with our mission. 

Key Responsibilities 

Grant & Bid Writing (50%) 

• Research and identify suitable funding opportunities from trusts, foundations, and statutory bodies. 

• Write compelling, evidence-based grant applications and funding proposals. 

• Manage a pipeline of funding opportunities, ensuring deadlines are met. 

• Develop and implement an impact reporting strategy for grant and bid writing.

Robertson Bell is exclusively partnering with the British Medical Association (BMA) in their search for a Group VAT Accountant to join their team on a permanent basis. The BMA is the trade union and professional body for doctors in the UK.  They represent, support and negotiate on behalf of all UK doctors and medical students.

Reporting into the Group Financial Controller, the Group VAT Accountant will be responsible for ensuring that the BMA Group (BMA and BMJPG) properly accounts for VAT and meets their statutory return, including overseas equivalents. You will proactively ensure that the finance systems and internal processes across the group are compliant and will manage relationships with external advisors and HMRC, as the organisation’s VAT Subject Matter Expert.

The key duties of the role are as follows:

• Responsible for submission of accurate and timely statutory VAT returns (and international equivalents) for the Group.
• Prepare balance sheet reconciliations on a regular basis that supports the VAT return submission.
• Undertake annual reviews of the VAT position, including any exemptions applied during the year.
• Proactively ensure that the finance systems and internal processes across the Group are compliant with the required tax legislation and remain alert to any future changes.
• Proactively manage the relationship with external advisors and HMRC.
• Liaise with Group Auditors, providing support and information for financial audits, preparation of financial statements and other requests.
• Compile and communicate appropriate tax guidance and training wherever needed within the group, liaising with external advisors as necessary.
• Provide non-finance managers with insight, creativity and support whilst new business proposals are developed for proposed new income streams

To be successful as a Group VAT Accountant you'll ideally have:

• Accounting Qualification (CCAB) (essential)
• Significant experience in VAT within a commercial organisation (essential)
• Previous experience of working in a VAT compliance role (essential)
• Knowledge of applying VAT law and how it affects corporations.
• Knowledge and understanding of UK, EU and global VAT compliance issues
• Good relationship building and management skills
• Good written and verbal communication skills

Within the Day Centre you will provide high quality and relevant advocacy and casework to people who are homeless or at risk. About the role

You will assist our Management Accountant with the accounting, management and reconciliation of Hastoe’s solar photovoltaic portfolio, including the income that Hastoe receives from Feed-in-Tariff (FIT) payments. You will also assist with general management account duties.

The role will require close working and collaboration with colleagues within the Finance team and wider organisation (in particular our Housing and Property services teams), as well as communicating externally with other stakeholders regarding our PV panel portfolio. • Assist with administration for said PV panel portfolio, accessing online portals, monitoring status of PV panels and payments.
• Liaise with Hastoe’s FiT licensee(s) to submit and receive information relating to the panels.
• Assist with the maintenance and servicing as required of the PV panel portfolio, working closely with Hastoe’s Property Services Team.
• Assist with completing reconciliations to ensure payments are allocated and accounted for correctly.
• Assist with reconciliations, month-end and other management accounts functions.

What's the role about?

Forward Thinking is a London-based NGO specialising in conflict prevention, conflict resolution, and political dialogue across the Middle East, North Africa, and Europe. We facilitate inclusive dialogue between diverse stakeholders to work to address shared challenges and build sustainable solutions.

The Middle East Programme Officer will support the delivery and development of our Middle East Programme, which aims to facilitate inclusive dialogue and conflict resolution in the Israeli-Palestinian peace process, working with political and religious leaders to build a sustainable peace.

Essential Experience, Knowledge and Skills 

• Native English speaker. Bilingual Arabic speaker desirable but not essential. 

• Preferably London-based. Potential for hybrid working subject to circumstances. 

• Excellent written and spoken communication abilities with demonstrable experience of writing reports and professional correspondence.

• A strong commitment to, and respect for, facilitating inclusive dialogue with groups holding highly diverse political, religious and ideological views, with cultural sensitivity and professional discretion. 

• Willingness and ability to undertake international travel for meetings and conferences, at times with short notice.

• Undergraduate degree in a related field (politics, history, languages, political sciences etc.) or equivalent relevant experience.

• A proactive attitude and ability to respond calmly and flexibly in a fast-paced environment. 

• Relevant experience in organising events. 

• Ability to manage competing priorities and deliver on ambitious targets. 

• Understanding of the political, social, and cultural landscapes of the Gulf-MENA region.

This role is vital to achieving our strategic outcomes by providing expert technical advice, supporting and collaborating with the Technical Advisory Panel to develop authoritative guidance and publications. The Senior Children’s and Families Pastor is a key role within the staff team at St Stephen’s.

We are looking for someone with a passion to see children (0-11s) and their families grow as whole life disciples of Jesus, with direct experience working with children, and proven strategic leadership skills, to lead this ministry into continued growth at this exciting time for St Stephen’s.

Currently there are 4 main strands to children’s ministry at St Stephen’s:

1. Church based kid’s ministry and discipleship

2. Community pre-school and families

3. School’s ministry (St Stephen’s primary and 2 other local primary schools); and

4. Parenting (building community and pastoral support).

We expect the director of children’s ministry to oversee all these strands but directly lead the church-based ministry and at least one other area.

The successful candidate will take responsibility and strategic oversight for all 0-11 ministry, leading the kids and families team (presently consisting of a part time community families pastor, and the Associate kids pastor, to be appointed.) and the recruitment and training of a large volunteer team.
