About this job

As the HR Officer you’ll be responsible for providing an efficient, friendly and high-quality HR and recruitment service to our amazing internal customers across the organisation.

You’ll also be undertaking general HR support and provide cover for colleagues within the HR Operations team as and when required.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Liaising with our managers regarding recruitment and advertising agencies
• Compiling and issuing application recruitment packs, arranging interviews
• Maintaining our database to monitor vacancies and applications (to be replaced by the new ATS)
• Updating recruitment pages on the MS Society website
• Processing new appointments (including completing all required pre-employment checks) and changes to existing employment contracts using established templates
• Responsible for keeping the HRIS updated and ensure that all employee information is added / updated accurately on a timely basis
• Responsible for maintaining appropriate paper and electronic records including ensuring that records are compliant with relevant legislation and records management policies
• Processing probation and other documentation
• Supporting with pay and benefits administration
• General admin support as required

The role of Finance Manager

​The Finance Manager will oversee the finance operations and lead on the preparation of management accounts, budgets, funding requests and internal and external reporting. The position of CEO is an exciting and challenging role that is primarily external facing in order to promote and further develop the essential support we provide to families in need throughout Camden and Islington.

Core Responsibilities

· Support the team in identifying funders and income generation opportunities

· Build networks with new and existing funders to engage their support

· Be accountable for the management of resources to enable us to actively support a minimum of 90 to 120 families at any one time

· Provide leadership and oversight to colleagues and volunteers to ensure the correct outcomes for families through training, governance and quality assurance

· Annual budget setting in conjunction with the Treasurer, and ongoing monitoring and reporting of financial position

Personal Specification / Attributes

The successful candidate will be an experienced Senior Manager/Chief Executive with a demonstrable track record of successfully running an organisation or team leadership. You will possess strong strategic management, governance and people skills in addition to being solution focussed. Excellent stakeholder management skills are essential as is the ability to generate income from a range of sources.

Essential knowledge and skills

· Three years experience as a Senior Manager / Chief Executive

· Ability to prioritise and manage a varied workload, working to tight deadlines

· Demonstrable success in raising significant income from a variety of external sources

· Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills

· Accomplished at providing motivational and influential leadership

· Proven track record of successfully delivering change

· Good understanding of financial accounting and budgeting in the charity sector

· Understanding, interpreting and presenting Management Information and data

· Previous experience of working with organisations in social services or health, with an understanding of the public sector commissioning process

· Good working knowledge of MS Office suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, SharePoint)

Key responsibilities

Network Communications

• Develop and deliver engaging content for newsletters, emails, and online platforms to keep our network of youth organisations informed and engaged

• Create compelling stories and case studies that highlight the impact of our work and the achievements of our partners 

• Manage and update communication materials and resources for youth organisations 

• Support in the planning and execution of events, webinars, and campaigns that connect and inspire our network 

• Work with the Communications Manager and Marketing Manager to identify opportunities and case studies for other external audiences

• Understanding of the use various communication methods and channels

• Excellent copy writing skills, ensuring brand guidelines and tone of voice are consistent across all messaging

Internal Communications

• Support the development and delivery of internal communications strategies to ensure staff and key stakeholders are informed and aligned

Experience

• Familiarity with both internal and external communications, including staff engagement, stakeholder messaging, and storytelling.

• Experience using digital communication tools such as email marketing platforms, CMS, or social media scheduling tools.

• Exposure to event coordination, campaign support, or content creation for events/webinars.

• Experience managing communication materials and ensuring consistency in messaging and branding.

What you’ll be doing

You’ll help deliver accurate monthly payroll administration, support colleagues across our UK-wide network, and play a key part in an exciting project to review and potentially upgrade our HR/payroll systems. Your responsibilities will include:

• Processing monthly payroll changes (new starters, leavers, pay updates, statutory payments)
• Supporting managers with queries and system use (ResourceLink)
• Maintaining accurate employee data and records
• Generating reports and supporting HR data needs
• Contributing to systems improvement and change projects

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working with systems, data, and people—and who values getting the details right.

Where you’ll be based

The role is based at Field Studies Council Head Office, near Shrewsbury, with hybrid working options available. Your time in the office will be dependent on business needs.

Our Head Office is situated on the same estate as our Preston Montford Field Centre. The 12-hectare site is managed to provide a rich range of habitats, including ponds, a wildflower meadow, ancient orchard, the remains of a walled garden and even a Bee hotel!

• Experience in payroll, with confidence using payroll systems (ResourceLink experience is a bonus)

Core Responsibilities

1. Grant & trust applications

You will drive the research, development, and management of grant applications and trust funding. Your role involves identifying funding opportunities that align with Hong Kong Watch’s mission and preparing detailed proposals that secure essential resources for our projects.

2. Fundraising campaigns & donor engagement

In this responsibility, you will design and execute targeted fundraising campaigns and events. You will work to cultivate and maintain relationships with individual donors, trusts, and institutional funders, ensuring a consistent flow of financial support that underpins our advocacy and community work.

3. Coordination & communications

This responsibility centres on effective internal collaboration and external representation. You will coordinate with our communications teams to ensure consistent messaging, manage donor communications, and report on the impact of our fundraising efforts.

Key Tasks

• Research and application development:
  Identify suitable grant opportunities, trusts, and philanthropic funding sources both in the UK and internationally. You will draft, refine, and submit proposals that reflect Hong Kong Watch’s strategic priorities, ensuring compliance with each funder’s requirements.

• Campaign strategy and event coordination:
  Develop integrated fundraising campaigns in collaboration with our communications team. This includes planning virtual and in-person events, managing donor appreciation sessions, and ensuring that each campaign aligns with our overall mission and values.

• Donor relationship management:
  Build and nurture relationships with a diverse range of funders. This task involves regular communication, organising meetings and presentations, and providing clear, detailed impact reports that demonstrate the effectiveness of our initiatives.

• Internal collaboration and reporting:
  Work closely with the operations team to ensure that all fundraising efforts are fully aligned. You will attend monthly strategy meetings, coordinate updates, and produce comprehensive reports on campaign performance and donor engagement.

• Digital and social media integration:
  Collaborate with the communications team to create engaging online content that supports fundraising efforts. This includes drafting newsletters, managing social media updates, and developing digital materials that promote events and initiatives.

• Monitoring, evaluation, and strategic review:
  Continuously track key fundraising metrics and donor engagement levels. You will evaluate the success of fundraising initiatives, adjust strategies as needed, and prepare strategic reviews that inform future plans and objectives.

Overview of the International Chief Outreach Officer

Operational Leadership:

• Provide strategic leadership to the Senior Management Team's and it’s operational functions, ensuring efficient and high-quality service delivery.
• Develop and implement operational policies, procedures, and best practices to enhance productivity and ensure compliance.
• Continuously streamline processes and workflows to improve operational performance.
• Deputise for the CEO when required, representing the organisation at events, meetings, and in day-to-day operations.
