About this role: Reporting to the Deputy CEO, the Head of Business and Market Development will build on SIB’s existing research and findings on market scope and scale, organisational financial resilience, the cost of capital and fund financial modelling to support the delivery of SIB’s ambitious new strategy, and hit our business development targets as part of an ambitious growth plan. This new post will develop SIB’s work and the rigour and robustness of our market and financial analytics in order to grow the organisation, the amount of investment under management and the annual disbursement of grant funds.

Key responsibilities

1. Working closely with the CEO and Deputy CEO support the delivery of ambitious growth targets under the new strategy.

2. Oversee the regulatory transition to FCA regulation for a defined number of SIB subsidiaries, drawing together the relevant internal documentation, working with the FCA – and any specialist retained consultants – to ensure that SIB is quickly and effectively accredited.

3. Work with the CEO and Deputy CEO to advance SIB’s applications for capital from Public Finance Institutions including the National Wealth Fund.

4. Working with the wider BD team, draw on market and financial modelling that incorporates existing data on SIB’s customers across its funds (using e.g. IMD, turnover, assets, age, business model) to develop excellent bids and tenders for new grant funds and to structure successful investment raises.

5. Oversee the reporting of all funds managed through the SIB group subsidiaries to their investors. This should include quality control of regular analytics, KPIs and case studies, regular catch up calls with investors and occasional presentations remote and in person.  

6. Oversee the regularity and quality of analytics of SIB’s enterprise level impact to provide a consistent snapshot across all funds, including for SIB’s internal subsidiary board meetings.

7. Work with the Market and Financial Analyst to develop a strategic approach to financial modelling of funds. This should include an approach to cost base calculations (taking into account variability in disbursement rates, portfolios under management, loan vs. grant, capital vs. revenue, pace and automation), consistent treatment of interest payments, management and administrative fees and internal investment. The base model should be able to inform forward planning and business development, as well as serve to stack up the financial viability of BD opportunities as they arise.

8. Work with the Systems and Data teams to ensure that the base model is embedded within SIB’s operations and informs fund and programme management.

9. Lead a horizon scanning function that effectively drives comparative benchmarking against competitor / peer organisations.

10.  Oversee the team’s work with the Finance and Governance teams to ensure that market analytics include effective customer feedback, collected regularly and embedded in key performance indicators.

11.  Alongside the Deputy CEO and the wider Data, Insights and Advocacy team, oversee the delivery of the annual impact report, bringing colleagues together to identify key findings and deliver each report. Ensure that the impact report reflects market analytics, providing context that identifies SIB’s leadership and place within the wider sector.

12.  Oversee the management – as needed – of any external consultants working on more complex financial models / additional research and learning that contributes to market or business development.

13.  Alongside the Deputy CEO and the wider BD team, design and facilitate general learning sessions and programme specific learning sessions with small and large groups, this may include partners, customers and the SIB Board as well as colleagues. Elicit learning from these sessions, share findings and support your colleagues to integrate action points into our systems. This learning approach should particularly reflect how customer need / satisfaction is met by different fund and programme structures.

Surgery and anaesthesia have a fundamental and growing impact on global health outcomes. Surgical intervention could address over 30% of the global burden of disease, and yet the poorest 33% of people receive just 3.5% of all surgery. Post-operative mortality rates 1,000 times higher than in some high-income countries can be found in parts of the world where surgery and anaesthesia have been neglected, and in some countries as many as 90% of anaesthetic departments do not have the equipment to provide a safe anaesthetic for a child. 

With 146 member societies made up of anaesthesiologists in over 150 countries, WFSA is uniquely placed to influence these inequalities and to help ensure universal access to safe surgery and safe anaesthesia. 

The role

This sits within the Communications, Advocacy and Digital Learning Team and reports to the Digital Learning Manager. You will work closely with all members of our staff team (the Secretariat), as well as many of our committees and key stakeholders. Relationships with member societies and our WFSA Board and Council will also be important; an ability to interact across a range of stakeholders is essential. This is an entry level role which offers huge scope for development and learning across a broad remit.

The role is offered either on a hybrid working basis with access to WFSA’s central London office or fully remote. Note, the majority of working hours would need to overlap with those of the United Kingdom.

Purpose of role 

To provide administrative, operational and technical support across WFSA’s digital learning portfolio. Particular focus is given to online publications and the Anaesthesia Online Learning Community (AOLC), which encompasses our webinars, online courses and other educational resources. 

You will handle day-to-day admin, user support, reporting and content updates, ensuring smooth delivery of our educational activities and freeing capacity for senior staff to lead strategic development.

You will be part of a small, supportive team working with global volunteers, committees and partner organisations, helping us deliver high-quality, accessible online learning at scale. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with an interest in global health to develop skills in online education, digital content management, webinar operations and LMS administration. 

Key tasks and responsibilities 

1. AOLC support

• Support the Digital Learning Manager in delivering the Anaesthesia Online Learning Community (AOLC) project action plan and coordinating with volunteer faculty when needed. 

• Provide administrative support for the e-learning platform, including uploading content, enrolling users, checking enrolment reports, and routine maintenance tasks. 

• Respond to routine user queries (e.g., certificates, access to recordings, account/password issues). 

• Upload new educational resources to the Virtual Library (WordPress). 

 2. Webinar administration & delivery

• Manage speaker admin: collecting bios and photos, sending consent forms and reminders, requesting Power Point slides, and gathering essential details. 

• Prepare webinar materials such as introduction slides, panelist briefing documents, and certificates. 

• Provide support for running webinars (e.g., managing waiting rooms, chat/Q&A, recordings), compile webinar analytics, and produce standardised reports. 

• Update the webinar calendar and the webinar section of the WFSA website (WordPress). 

3. Publications support (ATOTW & UIA)

• Assist the Managing Editor with administrative tasks for Anaesthesia Tutorial Of The Week (ATOTW) and Update in Anaesthesia (UIA). 

• Liaise with partner organisations and volunteer translators, track translation progress and upload translated content to WordPress.

4. Other duties

• Provide updates for donor reports and project summaries as requested. 

• Support internal meetings: scheduling, agendas, minutes. 

• Help draft or schedule educational email campaigns in Mailchimp.

About the role

The Administration and Finance Officer plays a critical role in ensuring the smooth and efficient functioning of GISF’s operations. This role combines core administrative responsibilities with day-to-day financial support, including grant-related bookkeeping, staff timesheet coordination, and invoice tracking. Training will be provided on financial tasks, though some experience is welcome. This role would suit someone looking for flexibility across their week- a suitable working pattern can be negotiated with the successful candidate.

Key responsibilities

Administration & Operations

• Provide day-to-day operational support to the GISF Secretariat,
• Coordination with outsourced service providers (e.g. IT, legal, finance, audit).
• Maintain and update GISF’s policies systems to support efficient operations.
• Manage the GISF office space in London.
• General HR duties, including support to recruitment processes, leave-tracking and onboarding of new staff and consultants.
• Assist with travel bookings, venue arrangements, and logistics for meetings as well as GISF-led external events.
• Administrative support to the board of directors.

Finance

• Support day-to-day financial processes, including coordination of supplier payments and processing staff expense claims.
• Oversee basic bookkeeping functions, including coding of expenses to relevant grants and cost centres.
• Maintain financial records and assist in the preparation of financial reports for donors and management.
• Liaise with GISF’s external accountants or financial service provider to support timely and accurate reporting.
• Coordinate the collection and consolidation of monthly staff timesheets, ensuring correct allocation to grants/projects.
• Prepare and issue invoices; monitor payments and follow up with members as needed.

Person specifications

• Strong organisational skills, with the ability to manage logistics, competing priorities, and multiple deadlines.
• Demonstrated experience supporting administrative processes such as scheduling, travel booking, document management, and coordination with external service providers.
• High attention to detail, particularly in maintaining accurate financial and administrative records.
• Confidence working with budgets, invoices, expense tracking, and basic bookkeeping tasks (training can be provided).
• Highly proficient in Microsoft Office (especially Excel and Word) and comfortable learning new systems quickly.
• Experience using digital tools such as CRMs or accounting platforms (e.g., Salesforce, Xero) is desirable.

Purpose

We are looking for a proactive and organised individual ensuring that all of Ella’s premises,  including the office, community hub, and safe houses,  are safe, compliant, well-maintained, and a welcoming environment for staff and service users. This role combines practical facilities work with proactive oversight of supplier management and property maintenance systems.

You will play a key role in maintaining the smooth daily running of our operations, managing contractors and compliance records, and supporting Ella's growth and improvement in facilities management.

Facilities management

• Oversee the maintenance and smooth operation of Ella’s office, community hub, and supported accommodation.

• Manage supplier and contractor relationships, including procurement, tendering, and ongoing performance monitoring.

• Coordinate and oversee maintenance, repairs, and refurbishments across all properties, ensuring work is completed safely and to a high standard.

• Maintain clear records of repairs, inspections, and contracts in the central facilities log.

• Ensure the office and community hub are fully equipped, stocked, and operational, maintaining an organised and professional environment.

• Ensure accurate stock records are maintained and inventories are completed across all sites.

Property inspections and maintenance

• Conduct regular inspections of all Ella’s properties to identify and address maintenance and safety issues.

• Manage the safehouse repairs and maintenance log, ensuring timely responses and communication with caseworkers and residents.

• Carry out minor maintenance and repairs directly where appropriate (e.g. light bulbs, fixtures, storage organisation).

• Liaise with landlords and external providers on significant property issues, ensuring clear communication and accountability.
   

Health, safety, and compliance

• Act as the main point of contact for health and safety matters in the Operations Manager’s absence. 

• Ensure that all properties comply with statutory safety and maintenance requirements, including fire safety, gas, and electrical checks.

• Support in maintaining and updating compliance documentation, certificates, and maintenance schedules.

• Conduct regular health and safety audits and risk assessments, escalating issues to the Operations Manager as needed.

• Lead or support fire drills, first aid provision, and emergency preparedness planning.
   

Systems and administration

• Develop and maintain efficient systems for facilities management, including logs, checklists, and compliance trackers.

• Support the Operations Manager in reviewing policies and procedures related to facilities, health and safety, and risk management.

• Coordinate staff communications about ongoing facilities work or planned maintenance.

• Oversee inventory management, purchasing, and deliveries for office and property supplies.
   

Team and organisational support

• Contribute to creating a trauma-informed, safe, and welcoming environment across all Ella’s spaces.

• Support the smooth running of events or community activities at the hub, ensuring facilities are ready and accessible.

• Build strong working relationships with staff, residents, and suppliers to ensure responsive and effective facilities support.

What the job involves

Prostate cancer is the most common cancer in men and it’s harming too many lives. At Prostate Cancer UK, one of our top priorities is funding research that leads to real change. It’s vital we do our best to make sure this research makes a meaningful difference to men’s lives, and that’s where you come in. 

We’re looking for an enthusiastic and proactive Senior Research Officer to help us deliver our funding schemes and patient and public involvement work.  This role sits in the Research Funding Team and will provide us with support across our grant funding schemes, ensuring we are following best practise in research funding. 

You’ll take responsibility for a small portfolio of active research grants, providing support and guidance to the researchers leading them. You’ll be a main point of contact for grant applicants, supporting them as they apply to us and will be responsible for running peer review. Using your understanding of research funding and administration, you’ll help make sure our funding schemes run smoothly and to time. You’ll work with colleagues to support patient and public involvement in research both in our review process and through our Patient Representative Network who help researchers make sure their work is focussed on the needs of men with prostate cancer.

What we want from you

We’re looking for a Senior Research Officer who is passionate about research and has a desire to develop knowledge of prostate cancer. You’ll hold a biomedical degree (or a degree in a related science subject), or with equivalent experience gained in research funding, administration or the wider research sector.

You’ll already have a good grasp of how grant funding works with demonstrable experience of research administration and peer review. Confidence in interpreting complex scientific information is important, as you’ll be using this knowledge to find the right people to peer review the grant applications that are submitted to our schemes.  You’ll have experience of supporting scientific meetings, preferably research funding committees, and understand the importance of capturing accurate minutes to provide constructive feedback to applicants.

You're also an accurate record keeper with a keen eye for detail and excellent time management skills. You're assured and clear in your communication, both written and verbal, and you're able to respond to a wide range of inquiries from researchers while always adhering to data protection and confidentiality best practices.  Experience of using Symplectic’s Grant Tracker or other grant management systems would be an advantage but is not essential.

The Referral and Operational Development Manager will play a pivotal role in supporting the Managing Director with new business development, coordinating and managing referrals, assessments, tenancies and transitions for our customers with learning disabilities and autism.

* Monitor and respond to referrals from external sources and direct contacts.
