Job description

Tearfund is looking for an Global Safety & Security Risk Manager 

This is a very exciting opportunity for you to be involved in supporting safety and security in the delivery of Tearfund's operational and partner-led interventions globally. 

This role plays a fundamental part in embedding our culture and approach to effective safety and security management. You will work directly with our international teams to outwork the existing safety and security strategy.

The successful candidate will:

  • Follow the Organisational risk management approach, and work with GIPG Director, GIPG Head of Operations as well as Head of Legal and Risk to advise and support the Board, and Executive Team (ET) on safety and security risk management, including strategic planning as well as critical incident and crisis management
  • To set the strategy for Tearfund's organisational approach to safety and security risk management, including setting standards, risk level and guidance for all security (globally) and non-UK safety issues
  • To lead the security team in providing ongoing support to Global, Regional and Country teams to ensure they can operate within the appropriate risk levels and reduce risks when security events happen
  • To coordinate, support or as required lead response to any safety and/or security issue, incident and/or crisis global
  • To lead the GIPG Leadership team and wider members of Global Safety and security team in reflecting, learning and improving Tearfund's ability to manage and mitigate security issues within the agreed risk level

You will have proven experience in decision -making on safety and security in humanitarian and/or development work overseas, as well as experience outworking existing strategic objectives, ideally at a global level.

Are you creative problem-solver, with a strong focus on people and working with others? Are you able to manage multiple tasks simultaneously, prioritising based on significance, and under tight timelines and in close cooperation with multiple stakeholders?

Please note: This is a full time, 2 year fixed term contract. Salary  will be market related and based on location.
