We are looking for volunteer drivers to join our hospice team and assist patients with getting to and from appointments. By collecting patients from their homes and bringing them to the hospice and then ensuring them get home safely, you will have a key role in the team.
Your role will include some of, but is not restricted to, the following tasks:
- Collect patients from their homes on a prearranged day and time and bring them to the hospice
- Return patients back home at the end of the day services session, out-patient appointment or discharge from ward
- Ensure patients gain safe entry to their home
- Refer all medical, social and personal problems expressed by patients to staff

What is a Serving Community Fundraising Volunteers?
There is a SSAFA presence throughout the serving community, both in the UK and overseas. In many areas SSAFA have Service Committees and Serving Community Teams which offer financial, practical and emotional support to serving personnel and their families. Each team is formed of a group of dedicated volunteers who make this possible.
A Fundraising Volunteer is a crucial role in the team, helping the Fundraising Coordinator deliver a range of activities and events to raise awareness of SSAFA and generate funds. You will spend time out and about supporting initiatives such as fayres, street collections, quizzes, raffles and other promotional events.
What difference will you make?
Volunteers are the lifeblood of SSAFA. We have been involving volunteers in supporting the Armed Forces community for more than 130 years. Our beneficiaries come from all backgrounds and age groups and the number of people contacting us for help rises each year.
In order to keep providing support to those who need it most, SSAFA relies on regular charitable income. This income goes direct to beneficiaries as well as funding essential behind-the-scenes operating costs. Fundraising also keeps the SSAFA profile high in the local community, so everyone knows who we are and how we can help.
What will you be doing?
- Although every SSAFA Committee has different needs, below are the main activities of a Fundraising Volunteer:
- Being part of a team supporting at events for example, helping to run a SSAFA stall at an Armed Forces Day event, or selling raffle tickets at a local fayre.
- Supporting at organised collections for example, joining others to collect donations at a supermarket, shopping centre, or event.
- Distributing promotional materials, posters and flyers across the area.
- Supporting the Fundraising Coordinator and others in the team with planning fundraising activities and new ideas.

- Online e-learning training modules to complete at home, so you are up to date on how to keep people and their personal information safe.
- Local induction and support.
- Ongoing support from SSAFA’s volunteering, operations and fundraising teams.

- Volunteers will be covered by SSAFA's Public Liability insurance while carrying out their role.

Our network of committed local vegans across the country is growing! The Vegan Society organises various outreach activities to influence change in every level of society. There are a range of activities going on all the time, from general educational stalls at events to meeting with local policy influencers.
What does the Organiser role involve?
Every month, you will be sent a collection of tasks to choose from. We create these from our programme of campaigns. You would be the point of contact for Advocates in your area, sharing these tasks and coordinating activities, such as stalls and lobbying councillors. We will provide you with a campaign toolkit and be in regular contact with you to ensure you have everything you need. You will also be invited to our private Facebook group and WhatsApp chat.
We would expect you to provide any updates from your group and give feedback on each task. It's vital that we measure the impact that we are having, in terms of positive conversations and leaflets handed out. You can also give us ideas you have for future outreach tasks or campaigning. Many Organisers find a huge sense of satisfaction, improvement in self-esteem and enjoy the social side of volunteering in this role.
You will also be responsible for welcoming new Advocates in your area. We will let you know when somebody new applies, and you will help them to get involved with any activities. As the main contact for Advocates, this role does require some awareness of safeguarding and data protection procedures and policy. You'll also be the health and safety contact for your group. There will be full training on your role in this, as well as a handbook and ongoing guidance and support.
As an Organiser, you will ensure any resources or actions undertaken are in line with our branding and messaging guidelines and make sure that Advocates understand this too.
What training and support is available?
There will be a full induction to the role, with a gradual introduction of new tasks and responsibilities. To start with, we will provide an initial training session to cover the basics of community organising, communication skills and event planning. This will be done remotely from wherever you are. Along with this, we will provide a full pack of resources that covers a range of work that we do.
From there, there will be regular conversations and reviews, where we can discuss other training requirements. Staff are always available to Organisers for any questions, via phone or email.

It would be beneficial for this role to have access to a vehicle, as some actions will involve taking resources to events or visiting MPs’ offices. However, this is not mandatory as the campaign toolkit can be carried in a backpack.
How much time do I need to invest?
You should be able to commit around two days a month to carry out actions, and this is usually spread out across the month. We also expect timely responses to emails. When a new Advocate applies to work with you, we would like them to be contacted within seven days.

We are offering 1 young people aged 18-25 the opportunity to volunteer for up to 11 months with the Swedish Red Cross in Stockholm. The programme will run from September 2024 – August 2025.

The Swedish Red Cross Youth is excited to welcome two volunteers in collaboration with British Red Cross this fall. The placement is in central Stockholm, at the Swedish Red Cross HQ. Marie Curie has over 160 Retail shops across the UK which are full of gifts, clothes and even the odd vintage gem. They are vital to the work we do in raising funds to provide care and support for people living with a terminal illness and their families.
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a volunteer who has a passion for selling online products and has a keen eye for all things unique. This is a key position supporting the work of our retail operations and will help to raise even more vital funds.
As an eBay Volunteer you will be providing invaluable support in the operation of our eBay shop by photographing, listing and preparing items for delivery. Part of the role will be to research items and check their value to ensure we are always achieving the best price. You will also need to respond to any customer queries both by telephone and online.
We are looking for volunteers who have excellent organisational skills and a keen eye for detail. An interest in retail trends and social media would be an advantage but are not essential. Previous customer service experience would be desirable.
We will provide you with all the training you need plus a friendly and fun place to volunteer
Your role will include some of, but is not restricted to, the following tasks:
- Researching and identifying items that could be sold on eBay, including researching the value of products to ensure best price is obtained
- Photographing items and uploading images
- Cataloguing and listing items ready for sale on eBay

We are looking for Volunteer Café Assistants to support our John Hall Wellness Gardens in Leek. You will be based at our new Cafe operation and, ideally, you will be able to commit 4 hours per week to volunteering.

About the service
John Hall Gardens is a Community Education Garden & Café green space for the community of Leek, local schools, colleges, and social enterprises. With the aim of enabling the local community to work/learn and socialise with people with mental and physical health support needs. This includes adults of all ages and children and young people.
Assisting the Café Supervisor and your fellow volunteers, you will play an integral part of John Hall Wellness Garden’s future, by helping to deliver a café experience for the general public, Friends of the Garden, and guests. If you think you can make a difference and commit some time on a regular on-going basis, we would love to hear from you! This is a real opportunity to develop your current existing skills, learn new skills and network with other volunteers. What you will be doing as a Volunteer Café Assistant
You will have the opportunity to assist with food preparation, presentation, cleaning and serving/selling high quality food and beverages.
Under the guidance of the Café Supervisor, you, together with other volunteers will ensure that the Café is compliant with all relevant health and safety legislation and pursuing an outstanding performance and food hygiene rating.
In addition, there will be further opportunities to support activity groups in the café, special events and input into event and menu planning.
The main tasks volunteer café assistants will support with are:
- Support Café staff, other volunteers and trainees in the smooth day to day running of the Café.
- Carry out basic catering tasks including food preparation, cleaning and serving food to customers.
- Operate the coffee machine (full training will be provided).
- Handle cash or card transactions and operate the till.
- Work with the Café Supervisor to ensure relevant paperwork is completed and checks are carried out ensuring compliance against relevant food safety and health and safety policies and procedures.
- Ensure kitchen area and Café are clean and tidy (including equipment, walls, floors, tables, work surfaces), and waste is discarded safely.
- Provide good customer service, dealing with visitors and customers in a friendly and polite manner.
What will make you a great fit for this role?
- Eagerness to learn and train in all aspects of the café catering operation

As the Volunteer, Admin Manager, you will play a crucial role in setting up and managing our admin function and resources, with a focus on supporting the smooth running of Unlock YOUR Potential, especially in admin, logistics and corporate services. This is a remote position, with meetings done via telephone or online via Zoom or other platforms.
Key Responsibilities:
- Setting Up the Admin Department: Establish Admin systems and processes tailored to a startup charity.
- Ensure compliance with legal requirements.
- Supporting and welcoming new team members and manage their transition, including setting up admin systems and proccesses relevant for the team member(s).
- Develop and implement Admin policies and procedures and address team members’ queries related to Admin, logistics and processes and policies.
- Organise meetings, interviews, recruitment and other important activites, providing full wrap around support for that activity.
- Drive admin strategy in alignment with our overall mission.
- Contribute to organisational success through effective admin practices.
- Other duties required of a Admin Manager.

Purpose of role:
The Community Café provides a clean, welcoming, safe and secure environment that all members of the community can easily access. Under the direction, you will support the running of Community Café including signposting customers to relevant services.
Main tasks and responsibilities:

Preparation and serving of hot and cold food and beverages to café customers.

Across the UK, our 270 local groups play a vital part in supporting people affected by MS. They provide sense of belonging, unity and friendship. And they deliver services and support for their local MS community.
We are looking to recruit an Activities Organiser for the Lancaster, Morecambe and District Group. As our local group Activities Organiser you’ll play a crucial role in developing and planning activities and events with your local group. You’ll be responsible for creating and coordinating an annual calendar of events and making sure they’re run safely and effectively to make the most impact. You’ll take a lead role at events on the day and inspire your fellow volunteers to get involved.
In this role you’ll be able to develop your organisation, communication, administration and negotiation skills.
Time commitment
We estimate this role will need around 2 hours a week. Our roles are flexible and aim to fit around you. Time commitments for this role may vary depending on your activities. This is an ongoing role.
This is a great opportunity to gain experience within a large charity and develop your existing skills and learn new ones. We need you to get involved and help make positive changes to the lives of people affected by MS.
About you
You’ll have an interest in the MS Society and the work that we do, as well as the enthusiasm to represent both us and our values locally. You will understand the needs of people affected by MS in your area and be sympathetic to the needs and motivations of volunteers.
You’ll be confident using Microsoft Office, the internet and email. You’ll be able to apply disability, equality and inclusion practices and understand and apply our risk management system. Ideally you’ll understand the local area and organisations that provide local services.
You will be reliable and easy to contact and you need to live in or near the local area the group to carry out this role.
