We have an exciting opportunity for you to join us as a Prevention Policy Research Manager. We need you to lead on the development and delivery of the work plan for commissioned prevention policy research, and support the development of our prevention policy strategy, to ensure key evidence gaps are filled through the most appropriate process. As part of this, you'll provide leadership and support the development of a team of two staff.

Cancer Research UK's Cancer Intelligence (CI) team is part of our Evidence & Implementation (E&I) department within the Policy, Information and Communications directorate. The E&I department is integral in driving impact for people affected by cancer and improving patient outcomes by placing evidence at the heart of the charity's work. Through robust research, the department shapes and drives improvements to cancer policy and practice across prevention, early diagnosis, treatment, outcomes, inequalities, and innovation.

What will I be doing?

• Overseeing the planning, development and delivery of commissioned prevention policy research (PPR) and supporting the development of the new prevention policy strategy

• Being responsible for signing off all policy research commissioned contracts, briefs, and outputs, ensuring they meet the Cancer Intelligence Team's evidence standards, adhering to wider CRUK policies, and aligning directly to the PIC prevention strategy

• Supporting team members to maintain and develop their own knowledge bases and skillsets through appropriate training, horizon scanning and involvement in commissioned work

• Developing and maintaining key relationships with internal and external stakeholders in the area of cancer prevention to identify common areas of work and identify gaps providing effective and pragmatic solutions

• Leading on dissemination of PPR outputs, including grey literature reports, peer-reviewed articles, presentations (internal and external), stakeholder engagement and press activity

• Liaising with the Cancer Prevention Knowledge Group Chair and other relevant experts to ensure that external insights are sought and appropriately incorporated into commissioned work

• Managing the budgets for prevention policy research studies and working with relevant colleagues to commission work agreed through the existing governance structures

• Gathering stakeholder feedback on strengths and weaknesses of existing team processes, including timeliness of outputs, quality of work and value for money

• Exploring different approaches for commissioned prevention policy research, to inform the development and implementation of a model of working that bests supports the delivery of the new prevention policy strategy.

What skills will I need?

• Education and/or experience in a research methodology discipline e.g. health sciences research

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to interact confidently with internal and external parties at senior levels

• Excellent influencing and negotiating skills and experience of building effective working relationships and partnerships with internal and external stakeholders

• Experience of designing, undertaking and delivering high quality impactful research either as a researcher or commissioner

• Strong critical appraisal skills

• Proven knowledge of qualitative and quantitative research methods

• Proven ability to prepare and produce high quality and publishable written materials and academic research papers

• Proven ability to translate complex information for a range of audiences

• Excellent time management and organisational skills, with the ability to prioritise and manage multiple work streams both personally and in leading a team.

Job Description

Key responsibilities:

· Maintain supplier records including validating and updating bank details, contact information, and remittance addresses.

· Monitor the Finance Department mailbox and in-tray, responding and redirecting queries as appropriate.

· Process financial transactions including supplier invoices and staff/credit card expense claims in accordance with agreed processes and deadlines.

· Support preparation and batching of weekly and ad-hoc payment runs, ensuring proper documentation is attached and ready for approval.

· Complete bank reconciliations and assist in routine reconciliations of supplier accounts, and other control accounts under the guidance of the Senior Finance Assistant.

· Maintain accurate and organised filing (electronic and paper) for all processed work.

· Assist with audit and reporting tasks by retrieving and preparing documentation as required.

· Provide cover and support across other transactional processes during peak times or absences

Working Environment:  

The post holder should expect to:

· Work in a hybrid hot desk environment, generally working 2 days a week in the London office and three from home.

· Be responsible for the input and maintenance of databases and files relevant to the post requirements.

· Will occasionally be required to attend events in the evening and at weekends.

ABOUT THE SWAN YOUTH PROJECT

The Swan Youth Project (SYP) Limited is a Berkhamsted based registered charity which offers 11-16+ years old of Berkhamsted and the surrounding area, a safe and secure recreational facility within which they can relax and socialise away from the stresses of school or home life. To support them in this we provide a daily drop-in facility with organised activities at the centre as well as holiday programmes, workshops, music gigs and so much more.

The SYP centre is well equipped with a DJ booth, pool table, table football, Internet room, chill-out room, Wii & Xbox, coffee bar and a fully equipped band practice room. A free snack and hot drink are offered to all members (some of whom may not have eaten all day).

ABOUT THE ROLE: You will help plan, execute and engage in activities that enhance member development.

Duties will include:

1. Running daily sessions both in the centre and off-site activities / trips

2. Assist with the planning and set up of specific activities

3. Engage and build positive relationships with young people, responding appropriately to challenging situations

4. Create a calm and safe environment for both the young people and the staff.

5. All team members take on a share of the activities required for the smooth running of the centre; i.e. running our social media channels, fundraising, timely completion of all required centre checks

Role - Zero Hours Children's Resource Worker

Hours - Variable and inconsistent including evenings and weekends

TACT South West are looking for a children's resource worker to collaborate with them to support foster children and carers within Bude and Torquay. The ideal Children's Resource Worker will already have some experience in engagement and participation with vulnerable young people, care experienced children or have similar experience in child-facing settings. Experience of working with young people who are neurodiverse would be beneficial.  Activities would include completing one-one work with young people with life skills, healthy relationships, taking to activities, completing emotional literacy work. High level of flexibility required to cover weekends, evenings and bank holidays. Occasionally may be required to support with overnight residentials and night support within the foster home. Car driver and owning a car is desirable. In this short but high-impact role, you will help deliver key influencing opportunities on the UK Government’s commitments to SRHR, while maintaining influential relationships across government, Parliament and civil society. You’ll also lead political influencing on major advocacy moments — including the Commission on Population and Development (CPD) and the Commission on the Status of Women (CSW) — in meaningful partnership with young people.

In this role, you’ll collaborate closely with a fellow SRHR Policy and Advocacy Adviser and the Senior Policy and Advocacy Manager, combining strengths to maximise our influence and deliver real impact for girls’ rights.

As part of our dynamic Policy, Campaigns and Youth team, you’ll work collaboratively across Plan International UK and with our federation partners to ensure our influencing strategies remain credible, evidence-based, and rooted in feminist, anti-racist and decolonial approaches.

You’ll bring strong policy and advocacy experience, ideally with a track record of shaping UK Government policy and working on SRHR. Confident in building and managing high-level relationships, including with senior government officials, you’ll be quick to apply your expertise in producing persuasive policy positions and communications. You’ll also be a champion for youth-centred influencing, supporting young people to engage meaningfully in global advocacy spaces.

Experience of working within the UN system and knowledge of SRHR multilateral financing mechanisms would be an advantage.

The Role

You will work closely with teams across the charity, especially fundraising, Adventures, and ACTS, to develop content and that help us connect with new audiences, demonstrate impact, and position Phab as a leader in disability inclusion. 

Key Responsibilities 

Strategy and Leadership 

• Develop and implement a marketing and communications strategy aligned with Phab’s mission and strategic objectives 

• Line manage and support the Social Media & Club Support Executive, and oversee the work of external freelancers/agencies where required

• Lead brand development and ensure consistency and accessibility across all channels and materials 

• Support the planning and delivery of Phab’s 70th Anniversary celebrations, with strong storytelling and visibility 

Campaigns and Content

Responsibilities

The employee will provide day-to-day support to the Ambassadors team. In this role, Ambassador Community Coordinator  will:

• Participate in the implementation of a “white glove” strategy aimed at retaining and engaging a broad and sustainable base of VVIP contacts while strengthening their sense of belonging to the Ambassadors community.
• Support the team in organising and coordinating a calendar of events, particularly Ambassador events taking place in Paris, London, Brussels (and sometimes New York).
• Produce communication and engagement materials to animate the community on various platforms and to promote its actions externally.

• Contribute to the identification and integration of new Ambassadors (recruitment, onboarding, etc.).

13. Work within the senior management team and play a strategic part in ensuring organisation wide decisions are in Clients best interests.
