Deputy Head of Youth Work

The Deputy Head of Youth Work (Targeted & Partnerships) is a crucial role sitting within the Youth Zone Delivery Team. Reporting to the Head of Youth Work, you will be responsible for closely supporting the co-ordination, planning and delivery of an exceptional seven day per week youth offer within a state-of-the-art multi-million-pound centre.

About the Role

Through line management of your team and in collaboration with partners, you will ensure that the Youth Zone is accessed by all young people who need it the most. You will oversee community engagement outreach as part of the delivery ensuring the organisation continues to have a strong reputation and there remains a good awareness of the offer.

You will also be accountable for ensuring strong evidence of effective performance in line with vision, mission, values, and strategic objectives and that the team are afforded continuing professional development opportunities. You will need to be a big voice within a large team, owning and demonstrating a strong ethos, commitment, and dedication to improving the lives of children and young people and uniting them to fulfil their full potential. You will be confident in your abilities and able to deputise effectively for our Head of Youth Work as and when required. You will also be a Deputy Designated Safeguarding Officer.

Key responsibilities include:

• Line management of Female Engagement, Employability, Inclusion Coordinator and Outreach

• Monitoring, evaluation and reporting of all sessions including restricted-funding projects 

• Ensure the quality of the youth work offer across all direct report areas meet the standards of the organisation 

• Develop and maintain relationships and partnerships

• Manage one off projects, events and promotional activities 

• Identify suitable restricted-funding projects 

• Support, and in some cases manage, targeted projects as and when they come up, including budget management, and ensuring full monitoring and evaluation compliance

• Ensure that overall programme participation targets are consistently met

• Oversee budget lines of direct reports

• Work with the Head of Youth Work to prepare rotas 

• Working alongside the Head of Youth Work to ensure programmes are structured effectively and safely

• Lead sessions when required (usually this will be to cover annual leave or other staff absence)

• Produce the required reporting for Trustee and Board Sub-Committee meetings

You will have strong safeguarding and sign posting experience and proven experience within the youth sector, including overcoming barriers to participation.

You will also have experience of:

• Successfully project managing programmes including reporting to funders on outcomes

• Project management, including project design, coordination of logistics, coordination of project staff, monitoring and evaluation

• Working in partnerships with communities and organisations to improve positive outcomes of young people

About the role

This is an exciting opportunity to join the senior leadership team at a time of growth, ambition and innovation. We are looking for a strategic, expert and collaborative Director of Partnerships and Insight to help us build and deliver impactful national partnerships that bring real, measurable benefits to communities across the UK.

Key responsibilities

Strategic partnerships development

You will lead the identification, development, and stewardship of national strategic partnerships that align with UKCF’s mission and deliver meaningful outcomes for our partners and for communities across the UK.

This includes initiating and negotiating collaborations with government departments, large foundations, businesses, and sector partners. Working closely with community foundations across the country, you will co-create proposals and programme designs that draw on local expertise and deliver impact at scale.

From inception to evaluation, you will oversee the full partnership lifecycle, ensuring robust governance, clear communication, and high-quality delivery throughout.

Insight and impact

A central part of the role is to embed a strong culture of learning and evidence across UKCF’s national partnerships. You will shape and implement theories of change and robust evaluation frameworks, working with partners and community foundations to ensure that programme outcomes are clearly defined, measured, and communicated.

You will collaborate with the Digital Transformation team to improve our use of data and insight, driving forward a more evidence-led approach to programme design and influencing. Through this work, you will help generate actionable insights that inform future partnerships and strengthen our case for support with funders and policymakers.

Leadership and collaboration

You will manage our Programmes Officer, with responsibility for supporting their professional development. You will work closely with the Chief Executive to develop plans for growing the team, grounded in the need to ensure financial sustainability.

As a member of the Senior Management Team, you will play a key role in strategic decision-making and organisational development. You will provide visible leadership across UKCF, championing collaboration and innovation internally and externally.

You will cultivate strong, trusting relationships with a wide range of stakeholders, including community foundation leaders, funders, and public sector partners. This is a key role within the Executive Leadership team, with accountability for Finance, Procurement and IT at the Globe. Our Youth and Play Workers will play a pivotal role in the Children, Young People and Families team, working as a core team of practitioners to ensure the smooth running of our programmes and services. In this role you will be part of a small and dynamic team which delivers a wide range of programmes and activities, both from Tulse Hill Adventure Playground and within local schools. The work of the Children, Young People and Families team is diverse and varied. Our current services include open access adventure play and youth activities at our Adventure Playground, school holiday programmes with off-site trips and activities, coaching in local schools, a Young Leaders programme offering paid work experience to young people, and working together with our youth partnerships Building Young Brixton and Lambeth Peer Action Collective.

We are experiencing an exciting time of development for the team and are currently looking to recruit four Youth and Play Workers. To support our range of children and young people, our team will be made up of specialist Youth Workers and Play Workers bringing in relevant skills and experience. About the Role

The Lead Lawyer - Africa Death Penalty Team is responsible for coordinating Reprieve’s litigation and advocacy in Sub-Saharan Africa. At the moment, the team works on death penalty casework and abolition advocacy in Malawi, Tanzania, and Kenya. 

Our casework includes work on appeals to the Malawi Supreme Court of Appeal in the context of historic denials of a right to appeal and related contextual challenges; large-scale projects, such as the Kenya resentencing project, wherein we support stakeholders to ensure 5,000+ people are able to access a chance at reducing their sentence from death via a new sentence hearing, as well as supporting on individual strategic resentencing cases; and long-term regional projects, such as our strategic litigation before the African Court on Human and Peoples’ Rights, which challenges the mandatory death penalty, torture, and other associated violations of the African Charter. This is an opportunity to join a team that has developed groundbreaking work with great success in getting people off death row, making significant contribution to legal reforms and towards abolition.

Length and Salary

This is a full-time role, on a one-year fixed term contract, with the possibility to extend, subject to funding. The annual salary is £52,088 per annum, less any required deductions for income tax and national insurance. 

This role is based in Reprieve’s London office. Reprieve operates a hybrid working model and we require staff to work two days per week from the London office and the rest of the week from home. Applicants must have the current right to work in the UK, which will be checked prior to interview.

Your presence is important during core office hours, whether remotely or in the office. You will also be available outside of office hours in the event of an emergency, for example case developments that require urgent action. This is a role that may require travel and work outside of core office hours from time to time.

Our operations team is led by the Chief Operations Officer (COO) and includes the finance and bookings & venue teams. This is a newly created role that will report directly to the COO and work closely with the wider operations team.

Scope of role

The Senior IT & Operations Officer is responsible for leading the central coordination of IT operations, managing key relationships with two main contractors (IT and estate management), and ensuring seamless integration of IT infrastructure and estate management services. This role involves overseeing the effective and efficient functioning of both IT systems and estate operations for Toynbee Hall and Toynbee Trading, while prioritising the safety of staff and stakeholders on-site. The officer will proactively identify opportunities for improvement, resolve issues, and maintain a collaborative working environment to support business continuity, operational efficiency, and safety standards across all operational areas. Additionally, they will support the procurement of IT and estate-related items, such as IT kit, ensuring timely and cost-effective sourcing of required resources.

Responsibilities and Accountabilities

Information Technology & Systems

• Support the COO and wider SMT with all IT related strategy including procurement and streamline of new IT service provider/s. Including setting up KPIs’ and using these to assess performance.
• Manage the setup of new staff – including the procurement of equipment required for the role – this includes all communication tools.
• Managing the relationship and being the key point of contact with the technology suppliers and technology support providers.
• Identifying cost savings/efficiencies in the tech stack.
• Supporting IT KIT refresh plans and purchase, this includes audit of needs and vendor negotiations and lifecycle planning with the COO.
• Leading on regular assessment of IT and systems needs for all services and administrative staff.

Facilities, Health and Safety & General Administration

• Act as the main point of contact with our property management company. Work with the COO to escalate issues.
• Book in contractors and maintain all required documentation in conjunction with other key stake holders (property manager/agent).
• Be the escalation point for maintenance issues, liaising with the property management company to make sure that issues are dealt with in a satisfactory manner.
• Work with H&S consultants and property managers to ensure all relevant training is planned for and carried out and Risk assessments are being completed and used.
• Work with HR to ensure that all relevant training is planned for and carried out.
• Maintain records for all mandatory tests in conjunction with our property agents.
• Liaise with the Events and Venue Manager to ensure building management is always in place, keyholding, security etc.

Projects

• Manage ad hoc projects on behalf of the operations team; such as refurbishments, implementation of printer management.

General

• Building good working relationships across the organisation

Global Affairs Lead - Climate

About the Role 

As our Global Affairs Lead focusing on climate you will drive the political strategy and global advocacy for our climate campaign. Bringing considerable strategic contacts, networks and relationships for WASH and Climate advocacy you will work closely with the Global Head of Campaigns on Climate and the Climate Policy Lead, this role being responsible for the design and delivery of the international political plan on Climate and the insider advocacy, activities and tactics required you will bring political analysis and strategic insight into the organisation to inform our campaigning and advocacy, identify policy needs and inform media and public engagement approaches. 

In this role, you will lead design and delivery of the International Climate Political Plan, the international political influencing strategy for WaterAid’s Climate campaign and give strategic direction to the political advocacy for COP30 agenda for Brasil and influence key decision-makers on climate finance for water and WASH adaptation investment. You will have a good understanding of climate adaptation agenda and policy and you will be responsible for the power-mapping and political analysis that identifies the key levers for change in support of our political plan change objectives for Climate. Bring a strong understanding of the institutions, organisations. 

You’ll also:  

• Be responsible for co-chairing the Global Advocacy Meeting with the global head of campaigns on Climate. 
• Lead the process to identify which targets are best for our policy change objectives, which we can then further refine in line with those targets.
• Be a media spokesperson and represent the organisation at strategic events and with high-level campaign targets. 
• Embed a strong gender, equity and inclusion lens to advocacy priority delivery, as part of addressing the needs of those burdened the most with a lack of access to WASH.
