Team Administrator (Philanthropy, Partnerships & Commercial)

Battersea is entering an exciting phase of innovation and transformation as we embark on the first year of our new five-year strategy. With increased investment in income generation starting in 2025, we are expanding our team to drive the growth necessary to achieve our organisational goals. Our Income Generation team bridges the journey of the animals in our care with the wider public, demonstrating how their contributions enable us to support every dog and cat. In addition, we are embarking on a transformative journey with our Launchpad Programme – a major cross-organisational initiative to consolidate all customer and animal data into one integrated system. As part of this ambitious project, we are creating new roles to ensure that our Income Generation operations are fully represented and embedded in the design of the future system.

This is a new role working across Battersea’s Income Generation department, in particular, Philanthropy, Partnerships and Commercial (PP&C). This new role will provide effective EA support to the Head of PP&C, and to the Senior Corporate & Commercial Manager and the Senior Philanthropy & Trusts Manager). This role will manage external and internal communication to and from the Head of PP&C and the senior managers. You will also provide a range of administrative and co-ordination support to the wider PP&C team.

Overall purpose

Reporting to the Director of People, the HR Manager will take responsibility for the operational delivery of Breaking Barriers’ key People and HR activities and initiatives. You will have a strong knowledge of all aspects HR and provide proactive, practical support on day-to-day operations as well as leading strategic HR projects. A keen understanding of Diversity, Equity & Inclusion (DEI) in the workplace and employee wellbeing is an advantage.

This role is essential to ensure we continue to be an effective, inclusive and people-led organisation. Your role will be vital in making sure Breaking Barriers is and continues to be a great place to work for its staff.

You will deliver day to day HR support to team members and managers, work across the organisation to advise on HR policies and good practice, deliver recruitment processes, and deliver and track Learning & Development. You will support on wider strategic initiatives, working with the Director of People to embed new strategies and projects informed by employee feedback.

This is an opportunity to join the Gaia Centre as a Deputy Service Manager. 

The Deputy Service Manager will manage a team and carry a very small caseload of complex cases when necessary. The post will work closely with victims and survivors of different strands of strands of Violence Against Women and Girls (VAWG), including domestic abuse and violence (physical, sexual, emotional,  psychological, economic or tech abuse)​​, Sexual Violence (Rape and sexual assault​)​, Stalking and harassment ​, Sexual exploitation ​​(including women working in sex industry and Child Sexual Exploitation)​​, female genital mutilation (FGM)​/cutting , forced marriage​​, So-called ‘honour’-based abuse, provide early identification and offer appropriate care pathways for survivors of all genders, aged 16 years and over and their children, living, working or/and studying in Lambeth at times from the point of crisis. 

The job involves working within a multi-agency framework consisting of the Multiagency Risk Assessment Conference (MARAC) and local partnership protocols and procedures that prioritise the safety of survivors. Additionally, you will be working with survivors and agencies across Lambeth so will require significant travelling. 

The post holder will empower survivors by providing them with emotional and practical support, thus enabling them to access their rights, make decisions and increase their life options. The post holder will inform survivors of the full range of civil, criminal and practical options that might increase their safety. 

As part of this role, you will be required to participate in an out-of-hours on call rota.

Please note that this post is restricted to women due to the nature of the role. The Occupational Requirement under Schedule 9 (part 1) of the Equality Act 2010 applies.

We are now seeking an experienced and motivated Finance Manager to join our Finance team and support the strategic financial management of the business.

Job Overview:

The Management Accountant will be pivotal in providing accurate and timely financial information and analysis to support decision-making across our care homes and retirement villages. The successful candidate will work closely with senior management to ensure the company’s financial performance is closely monitored and aligned with organisational goals.

You will be responsible for managing month-end processes, budgeting, forecasting and providing insights into financial performance for our retirement villages. This role offers the opportunity to contribute to a business that positively affects people’s lives.

Key Responsibilities:

• Financial Reporting & Analysis:

o Prepare monthly management accounts, including profit and loss (P&L) statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements for care homes, nursery and retirement villages.

o Analyse financial performance and variances, providing actionable insights to senior management.

o Provide financial analysis to support key decision-making, highlighting cost-saving and efficiency improvements opportunities.

• Budgeting & Forecasting:

o Work with departmental managers and Head of Finance to create annual budgets and financial forecasts for individual homes and the group.

o Assist with quarterly and annual forecasting, revising financial projections based on changing business conditions.

• Cost Control & Financial Performance:

o Monitor operational costs and identify areas for cost reduction, ensuring financial controls are in place.

o Support the procurement process by evaluating supplier contracts and ensuring cost-effective purchasing.

• Compliance & Audit:

o Ensure compliance with relevant accounting standards and regulations (e.g., IFRS, FRS 102, VAT).

o Assist in preparing year-end audits, providing necessary documentation and reports.

• Stakeholder Engagement:

o Work closely with village and care home managers, the senior finance team, and external auditors.

o Present financial results to non-financial managers and ensure financial understanding across the business.

• System and Process Improvement:

o Contribute to the continuous improvement of financial systems and reporting processes.

Key Requirements:

• Qualifications and skills:

o Formal accounting qualification (eg ACA, ACCA) is essential.

o Advanced understanding of accounting principles and practices.

o Familiarity with medium/large accounting software.

o Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex financial data and make data-driven decisions.

o Proficient in financial software and Microsoft Excel (advanced level).

o Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate financial information to non-financial stakeholders.

• Experience:

We are looking for a Grants Management Lead who will manage part of ClientEarth’s existing grants portfolio and provide strategic direction within the team and across departments to ensure successful grant management delivery and fundraising.

Meet your Manager

In this role, you will be managed by Jamil De Dominicis. Jamil joined ClientEarth in 2019 and is based in London. As Global Head of Grants, he leads the Grants Management team and oversees ClientEarth’s grants income from trusts, foundations and other statutory and institutional funders. Prior to joining ClientEarth, Jamil worked in various policy, research and grant management roles at the international affairs think tank Chatham House and the National Foundation for Youth Music.

Main Duties

• Manage existing relationships with major foundations and other institutional funders to ensure that funders are aware of project performance and receive regular updates in compliance with grants agreements
• Oversee relationships with senior stakeholders from current and new donors; act as a key facilitator and steward of relationships between funder staff and key programme contacts
• Support on developing and executing the Grants Team Annual Plans and strategy
• Oversee the development and production of well researched and comprehensive proposals and reports to existing donors that meet funding priorities and requirements within the submission deadline, in coordination with programme staff
• Line manage their team effectively by ensuring the Managers and Officers have support and are empowered to lead on their funding portfolios
