About the role

We are currently looking for an impassioned and self-driven individual to join our activities team to deliver exceptional service to our students, through engaging with the 350+ student groups, which deliver an incredible range of world-class opportunities to their members.

You will act as the first point of contact for student-led groups and will drive improvements of activities and events including administering risk management, facilities, finance, training, and a wide range of administrative processes. The Student Activities Coordinator (Events) is tasked with coordinating the delivery and development of events run by student-led groups.

The role is responsible for ensuring that student volunteers are able to deliver their activities and events safely, and ensure students have a high-quality service and experience on their journey as a volunteer.

The role is responsible for supporting the:

• delivery of student-led groups, tours / trips, and activities
• Development and Support for groups in relation to events and activity

Alongside the Activities Manager, elected Officer Trustees, and the wider activities team, the role will support the delivering of a high-quality support service for student-led groups.

We seek a Finance Manager to lead the day to day running of the charity’s finances including overseeing the work of our outsourced financial provider. As a grant giving organisation, there will be regular interaction with the programmatic workstreams in this position, offering a fantastic opportunity for the right candidate to increase the capacity of a field-leading charity, help empower researchers in the Global South, and contribute to one of the world’s most important climate debates. Working with the COO, you will undertake organisational financial planning, budgeting and forecasting so that the senior staff and trustees have comprehensive information for decision making. Responsibilities

As this is a new role, responsibilities are expected to evolve but some key items include:

• Financial Oversight: Overseeing the outsourced finance provider, ensuring service delivery meets organisational needs and deadlines. You will be the primary liaison between our financial services provider and the staff, ensuring that they make payments on behalf of the organisation, runs payroll, completes the bookkeeping via QuickBooks, the monthly management accounts, and the annual statutory accounts. 
• Budgeting & Forecasting: Preparing and monitoring annual organisational budgets including a mid-year adjustment, cash flow forecasts, financial models and annual accounts to support the annual business cycle and fundraising bids.
• Reporting: Finalising monthly management accounts prepared by outsourced financial provider, deliver financial reports for the COO, senior leadership, and trustees, and preparing donor financial reporting.
• Financial Strategy and Investment Oversight: Working with the COO to manage financial resources and reserves including developing the investment policy to support the long-term goals of the charity.
• Audit & Compliance: Leading on annual audits, maintain compliance with UK charity finance regulations, and ensure adherence to funder requirements.
• Programmatic financial support: Working closely with the programmes teams to ensure their payments processes run smoothly with the outsourced financial provider, and regularly reviewing their grant and event expenditure is in line with their own managed budgets.

The Purpose of the Role

The purpose of the Programme Finance Officer role is to provide financial and administrative support to ensure effective financial management of programmes and projects implemented in the UK. The postholder supports the Programme Finance Manager with budgeting, expenditure monitoring, and financial reporting, as well as performing key transactional tasks such as reviewing and processing invoices, verifying supporting documentation, preparing payment requests, and reconciling project accounts.

Scope and Authority

Job Purpose

Reporting to the Head of Finance, you will be accountable for the sale and purchase ledgers for the various legal entities across the group of charities and companies for which the finance department is responsible.

You will match and code invoices, prepare and run BACS payments, reconciling bank statements and working out VAT payments.  You will provide a professional and efficient service to the finance function, monitoring how much is owed at all times and providing accurate financial information to the Finance Director as needed.

As part of the NFCC People Culture and Leadership (PCL) Hub this post plays a key role in supporting and enabling fire and rescue services (FRS) to drive organisational and culture change.

The postholder will use their subject matter knowledge, skills and experience alongside the principles of project management to support the design, development and implementation of a range of PCL products and services. The Head of Policy and Advocacy will lead the strategic development and delivery of MCF’s policy, advocacy and research agenda. The postholder will engage proactively with central and local government, devolved authorities, and regional mayors, ensuring that the voices and experiences of Muslim-led organisations are represented in policy development and decision-making. 

They will work collaboratively with MCF’s Communications, Partnerships, and Systemic Change and Sector Capacity teams to ensure a coordinated and strategic approach that delivers sustainable, long-term impact.

1. Strategy and Leadership 

• Develop and deliver the next three-year Policy and Advocacy Strategy aligned with MCF’s organisational objectives. 

• Provide strategic advice to the CEO, Senior Leadership Team, and Board on policy opportunities and risks. 

• Lead and develop the Policy and Advocacy team, fostering a high-performing, inclusive and collaborative culture. 

2. Policy, Research and Insight 

• Monitor and analyse UK policy and regulatory developments affecting Muslim-led civil society. 

• Oversee research, consultations and data-driven insight to inform MCF’s policy positions. 

• Produce high-quality policy outputs, including reports, consultation responses and position statements.

Context and purpose of role

By 2034 Ramblers ambition is that everyone in England and Wales will be able to join a Wellbeing Walk close to where they live – for communities to come together and experience the health and wellbeing benefits of walking. This work is part of the strategic plan and business objectives of Ramblers GB.

The role will deliver the Walking Together Project across communities in north London, Slough and Reading. The role will engage directly with the most disadvantaged communities, where loneliness, social isolation and inactivity could be prevalent, through a ‘Getting Started’ Wellbeing Walks programme. This is a community delivery role to work with local communities to establish walks and find potential walk leaders within the community to sustain walking.

• Deliver the Ramblers Getting Started element of the Walking Together Project
