ABOUT YOU

As we grow and adapt to the changing needs of the sector, we are now looking for a highly organised and proactive Executive Board & Governance Administrator to support the delivery of our new 5-year strategy and to oversee the smooth running of our administrative/governance operations.

This role requires a meticulous individual, with previous experience in a high-level administrative role and ideally some knowledge of charity governance. The postholder will have excellent organisational & IT skills, a strong work ethic, a keen eye for detail, and an ability to communicate confidently and professionally with a wide range of stakeholders. They will actively promote and uphold the Trust’s mission and values and will always exercise a high level of good judgment, diplomacy and discretion, in respect of the confidential information that they are party to. The postholder will be highly self-motivated, resourceful, and able to work effectively to build strong relationships with our beneficiaries, the Chief Executive/Executive Office team and our Board of Trustees.

Main Purpose of the Role

This is a central role in supporting the day-to-day operations of the Trust, providing secretarial support to the Board of Trustees and ensuring smooth and efficient administrative/governance processes. The postholder will be the first point of contact for enquiries and will be responsible for coordinating meetings, managing correspondence, and maintaining accurate records.

Concerts & Projects Manager

Position Summary

The Concerts & Projects Manager is responsible for the planning, coordination and delivery of several key areas of the orchestra’s core performance activity (including but not limited to: concerts in London and around the UK, commercial recording projects, the orchestra’s Garsington Opera residency and others).

Working in a fast-paced environment as part of a friendly, fun and creative team, the role of Concerts & Projects Manager provides a unique opportunity to work with leading musicians and conductors. Excellent organisational and budgeting skills, attention to detail, innovative thinking and a flexible approach to working will help you manage, develop and execute a diverse range of projects to the highest standard.

With oversight from the Senior Concerts Manager and Concerts Director, the post-holder will work closely with the Concerts Coordinators, Concerts Assistant and the Orchestra Operations Team in the delivery of outstanding performances in venues as varied as car parks, concert halls and country houses.

Key Responsibilities

• Planning and coordinating of the London Season at the Royal Festival Hall.

• Planning and co-ordination of the Orchestra’s residencies in the main season: Basingstoke, Bedford, Canterbury & Leicester and in the summer season: Garsington Opera and Three Choirs Festival.

• Planning and co-ordination of the Orchestra’s UK engagements.

• Preparing concert/project budgets, managing and maintaining set budgets and final reconciliations/invoicing.

• Liaising with the Orchestra’s Head of Production and Stage Managers regarding practical arrangements for all concerts and projects, including but not limited to stage plans, arranging stage extensions where required, truck requirements etc.

• Liaising closely with the Orchestra Librarians on orchestrations and editions for repertoire being performed or recorded.

• Supervising the Concerts Coordinators and Assistant in the practical delivery of contracts, PPE letters, tech riders, dressing room and security lists, rehearsal venue bookings, detailed schedule preparation etc.

• Keeping abreast of all relevant agreements and updates from the Association of British Orchestras and Musicians’ Union.

• Liaising with the Orchestra Committee and Artistic Committee regarding player matters as directed by Senior Concerts Manager/Concerts Director

• Attending concerts & projects in London and around the UK. Representing the Philharmonia with utmost professionalism at all times.

• Undertaking such other duties as may reasonably be required by the Company.

Role Purpose Statement

The Senior Officer, Active Fellows plays a key role in delivering high-quality support to Cara Fellows. This includes leading casework, coordinating Cara’s mentoring scheme to support Fellows’ placements, and contributing to strategic improvements across the Fellowship Programme. The role combines direct support to Fellows, operational oversight and delivery of casework, and collaborative leadership to support Cara to uphold its mission.

Organisational Background

The Council for At-Risk Academics is a UK-registered charity founded in 1933 under the leadership of William Beveridge, to rescue academics suffering persecution under the rise of Nazism and facilitate their continued work in safety. Sixteen Cara Fellows from the 1930s and 1940s became Nobel Laureates, and many more innovators in their fields, including, Nikolaus Pevsner, Lise Meitner and Karl Popper. A number of Cara’s founders and Council members also personally provided places and/or funds to help individual academics; and Cara, known in the 1930s as the AAC, later the SPSL, was closely involved in the successful effort in 1933 to bring to London the Warburg Institute art library, which had been prohibited by the Nazis, and six of its staff. The Fellowship Programme is the continuation of the rescue mission operation started in 1933.

Cara has been a lifeline to academics at risk for over 90 years, as and when world events have placed them in the line of fire: Hungarian Uprising, Cold War, Apartheid South Africa, Iran, Latin American Juntas, Vietnam, Kosovo, DRC, Rwanda, Sudan, Zimbabwe etc. and, more recently Iraq, Turkey, Yemen, Palestine, Syria, Afghanistan and Ukraine. Cara support is typically framed as temporary sanctuary offered at times of heightened risk.

Cara Objectives ‘To assist academics who have been, or are, or are at risk of being, subject to discrimination, persecution, suffering or violence on account of race, religion, nationality, membership of a particular social group, or political opinion, to relieve needs among them and their dependants and ensure that their specialist knowledge and abilities can continue to be used for the benefit of the public.’

‘To advance education by supporting academics and their educational institutions in countries where their continuing work is at risk or compromised, to ensure that such academics and institutions can continue to fulfil their critical role as educators for the public benefit.’

This is a critical time to join our dedicated and friendly Fellowship Programme team as we expand our capacity to support at-risk academics from the Middle East, Sudan, Myanmar, Afghanistan, Ukraine and Russia and many other countries.

Key Responsibilities

Fellowships

Casework

· Manage a caseload of up to 50 Cara Fellows, providing tailored support.

· Maintain accurate and GDPR-compliant records of casework activity.

· Liaise with Fellows to coordinate support and escalate complex cases to the Team Leader as required.

· Monitor, research and update visa guidance to reflect changes in complex immigration regulation.

· Keep up to date with relevant information regarding immigration laws, e.g. visas, legal procedures, etc.

· Liaise with independent legal advisors where necessary.

Finance

The social media officer sits within Alzheimer’s Research UK's Digital department. The primary purpose of the job is to engage and motivate supporters, raise awareness of dementia and dementia research, and promote Alzheimer’s Research UK's campaigns, fundraising efforts, health information, and research initiatives.

This is an important role, helping to drive Alzheimer's Research UK’s online presence, engagement, and impact, while staying at the forefront of digital trends and technologies. The role is an exciting and fast-moving one, ideally suited to someone skilled in content creation, strategy, relationship building, analytics and innovation, to effectively communicate the charity’s mission and engage supporters.

Main duties and responsibilities of the role:

Social Media Content Strategy Execution

· Support on the development and execution of a comprehensive social media content strategy, aligned with Alzheimer’s Research UK’s mission and goals.

Content planning and Scheduling

· Working alongside the rest of the social media team to plan content within our management platform ‘Sprout Social’ and ensure we are maximising opportunities across our socials such as Meta, X, LinkedIn, TikTok and YouTube.

· Identify optimal posting times and frequency to maximise audience engagement and reach.

· Work with the in-house video and design experts to produce eye-catching and compelling new assets which engage audiences with our brand message, raise awareness of dementia and dementia research and increase our reach and followers.

· Work with our senior social media officer to plan and deliver impactful video content across channels. Identifying opportunities to optimise long and short form video for the channels.

· Identify and encourage the use of sharable third-party and user generated content which aligns with Alzheimer’s Research UK’s brand messaging to support creative campaigns and initiatives.

Audience engagement and Relationship Building

· Monitor interactions across Alzheimer’s Research UK’s socials, proactively engaging with supporters to ensure they receive a positive experience.

· Act as a brand ambassador, maintaining high level of attention to detail to the brand voice in all social interactions.

· Be a confident and proficient communicator, able to adopt an appropriate tone of voice for each of our different audience types (including the communication of complex or sensitive issues. Able to communicate sensitively on several issues in a timely manner.

Reporting and Trend Analysis

· Produce insight driven and eye-catching regular reports on content for teams across the charity, to communicate key successes and areas for development, using your expertise and knowledge about the platforms.

· Proactively research, learn and suggest ways to improve our ways of working and efficiency by utilising emerging digital trends, such as artificial intelligence.

Internal Engagement and Collaboration

· Support teams across the charity with their social content, identifying opportunities to share our research, health information, fundraising and other campaign activities; as well as advising on best practice.

· Work with the Social Media Manager to enhance the Employee Advocacy Approach, fostering engagement and participation among staff in sharing social content.

Learning and Development

· Stay informed about the latest advancement in digital marketing, social media, tools and technology. Actively seek opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge through the charities learning and development programme as well as external learning opportunities.

Compliance and Brand Standards

· Ensure all activities comply with our brand and data guidelines and meet the high professional standards of Alzheimer’s Research UK and represents the values of the organisation to the fullest

What we are looking for:

· Experience of working across social media channels for a medium-large size organisation.

· Experience of using a Social Media Management tool such as Sprout Social, Hootsuite, Falcon.

· Experience of reviewing and disseminating social media metrics and reports. Experience in project and campaign planning for social channels

· Confident in leading discussions and driving creativity and new ideas in social content planning.

· Excellent organisational skills, with ability to juggle a number of projects simultaneously.
