Job description

Advice & Support Team – Senior Advisor

Duration: 35 hrs per week

Job Ref:  ASTSPA0220

About our work and values

Do you have passion for your work, a commitment to excellence and a desire to support some of the most vulnerable and excluded people in our communities? Could you support us to make positive lasting changes in people’s lives?

Providence Row works with more than a thousand homeless and vulnerably housed people a year in East London, offering an integrated service of crisis support, advice, recovery and learning and training programmes.  Our aim is to ensure that people who are so often excluded from mainstream services gain the support and opportunities they need to create a safe, healthy and sustainable life away from the streets. Central to our work are our core values of Compassion, Respect, Inclusiveness, Empowerment and Justice.  These inform the content, style and delivery of all our services.

Providence Row’s Advice & Support service works with rough sleepers and those at risk of homelessness in the London Boroughs of Tower Hamlets and the City of London.  The role of Senior Personal Advisor (Advice and Support Team) is to engage with and support people who are sleeping rough or vulnerably housed.

Our service is on the front line of both homelessness prevention and the local response to rough sleeping. Beginning with a volunteer led triage assessment process that begins in our Welcome Area clients are allocated according to specialisms in the team covering preventative work and support for rough sleepers. The main emphasis in the service is to do everything possible to move people into appropriate accommodation in a borough or community which they have rights and entitlements to services.  This work is often done in partnership with other organisations, some of which are funded to help people move away from a life on the streets or which may operate in other sectors such as health.

Your contribution to our work and values

Passionate about providing quality support to some of the most vulnerable and excluded people in East London, you will have the drive and ambition to support your team to make positive lasting changes in people’s lives.

You have experience of delivering specialist support to vulnerable adults who have experienced homelessness. Enthused by the opportunity to manage a small team and volunteers, you are willing to develop your skills in line management, supervision and case work management.

You will utilise your organisational and time management skills to ensure a smooth running of service. You have excellent communication skills and can create positive working relationships with a wide range of people, including external services.
