The Role:

You will be joining at an important time for our team, covering a crucial role in ensuring accurate income processing, reporting, and financial management across the organisation. As part of the Finance team, you will work closely with colleagues across departments, particularly alongside our fundraising team, to ensure income is correctly coded and reported efficiently. 

With responsibility for month-end and year-end processes, as well as maintaining accurate and timely financial data, you will play a vital role in supporting decision-making across the organisation. Your work will ensure colleagues have the financial insights they need, enabling strategic planning and effective resource management. 

Strong communication skills are essential for this role, as you will liaise with teams across the organisation to provide clear financial updates, answer queries, and ensure income is accurately coded and reported in line with financial procedure. Your clear communication of financial information will support informed decision-making and ensure compliance with procedures. 

To succeed in this role, you will have strong financial processing experience, excellent attention to detail, and a proactive approach to problem-solving. You should be comfortable working with financial systems and software, with the ability to efficiently manage data, generate reports, and ensure accurate income tracking.

Additionally, the team comes into the office during busier periods, such as financial year-end and audit, to collaborate with auditors (June/July). You can work remotely for the rest of the time. Equally, you may prefer to work from the office full-time. We encourage all colleagues to visit member hospices to help inform our work and you may be able to work from there.  

Contractually this role is London-based.

Blue Cross animal hospitals and pet care clinics provide veterinary treatment to sick and injured pets when their owners can’t afford private veterinary fees. Our vet care is available to pets whose owners receive certain means-tested benefits and live within the catchment area of one of our animal hospitals or pet care clinics.

About you

As a Veterinary Nurse, you will be confident and capable in delivering excellent nursing care for a range of small animals, providing both emergency and routine healthcare. Our Veterinary Nurses work alongside Veterinary Surgeons to promote animal health and welfare through responsible ownership and play a key role in the education of pet owners. 

The ability to work as part of a team and effective communication skills are really important, often you will be the first point of our clients, forming strong bonds with them to ensure improved animal health and welfare.

Role Details

Overview:  

Spires supports homeless and vulnerably housed people in South London. Spires has undergone a period of rapid transformation, moving to a model of multi-site working across three London Boroughs. Our core services include, day centre style drop ins for homeless people, a Women’s drop in, a Refugee drop in and outreach targeted at supporting Women who are sex working.  
 
The Head of Fundraising and Communications will be joining the organisation at an exciting time. Recent successful funding outcomes provide a short period of relative funding stability and an opportunity for the post holder to develop our communications and community fundraising strategies.

Part 1:  Job profile 

 
1.1 Purpose of job 

To generate income from a diverse funding pool that includes trusts and foundations, legacy and individual giving, community giving, government contracts and corporate support. Trusts and foundations remain the primary funding source for Spires so maintaining consistent application output is a core element of the role.

Oversee Spires’ external relations and public profile. The post holder will be responsible for all communications and will look for areas to increase the organisations profile.

Work with Spires CEO and the Head of Client Services to ensure that data and outcomes are being effectively captured in a way that is helpful for evidencing impact.

1.2 Position in organisation 

The post holder joins Spires’ Senior Leadership Team and will report directly to the Chief Executive Officer. The post holder will join the finance, fundraising and risk subcommittee which includes members of the board of trustees.

The post holder will manage the Communications and Community Engagement Lead who currently leads on community fundraising, social media and volunteer recruitment.

Part 2: Key duties and responsibilities 

2.1 Management Responsibilities 

• To manage the fundraising/communications staff and volunteers.

• Hold and record regular staff supervisions.

• Ensure that Spires’ policies are adhered to.

• Attend Spires’ managers meetings.

2.2 Income generation  

• Maximise existing and find new income to meet agreed income targets. 

• Research, write and present attractive propositions for a range of quality funding bids, proposals and documentation. 

• Produce and submit quality funding reports to meet deadlines.

• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of fundraising regulations, networks and developments across the sector, advising on best practice 

2.3 Planning, monitoring and reporting  

• Contribute to the internal planning and budget setting, setting out clear plans for income generation. 

• Contribute to forecasting and regular reporting, producing verbal and written reports for the CEO and Board of Trustees. 

• Actively manage contracts to ensure that Spires is delivering agreed outcomes and spending restricted funds correctly.

2.4 General 

• Review and update the fundraising strategy.

• Undertaking other duties compatible with the level and nature of the post and/or reasonably required by more senior members of staff, including session cover

Part 4: Summary of terms and conditions of service 

Location: The postholder will be an employee of The Spires Centre. This post is based at 2nd Floor, Elmfield House, 5 Stockwell Mews, SW9 9GX This role will by hybrid with three days in the office and two days from home.

Probation: This post is subject to a 6 month probationary period.

Notice: This post is subject to an 12 weeks’ notice period once confirmed in post.

Partnership and Strategy Manager - Western Forest

The Partnerships and Strategy Manager at Western Forest will be responsible for managing and nurturing partnership relations across the Western Forest area. This role ensures that all partners are supported and resourced to develop and deliver the collective vision of the forest, helping to achieve key targets. Context and purpose of role

The Out There Award (OTA) increases the skills, confidence and social connections of young adults (18-26 years) from diverse backgrounds to enjoy the outdoors responsibly. As a member of the Programmes team, the Programme Lead (Out There Award) will be responsible for the successful development and delivery of the programme across GB.

Key responsibilities

• Lead on the design, development and operational delivery of the Out There Award programme across GB.
• Create operational delivery plans – to identify milestones, monitor risks, resolve issues and manage resource requirements.
• Design and develop resources and processes to support programme implementation.
• Be responsible for managing a budget in line with programme goals and objectives.
• Be responsible for evaluation and reporting, to ensure the programme meets KPIs and delivers measurable impact.
• Manage new and existing strategic partnerships with outdoor organisations and those working with young people facing barriers to becoming active outdoors.
• Work with partners to recruit participants to the Out There Award, and to promote the programme more widely.
• Develop a network of delivery partners and instructors.
• Engage diverse audiences from young people facing additional barriers to getting outdoors, to senior stakeholders including government funders, and other strategic external partners.
• Directly deliver some OTA events to support the continued development and co-production of the programme.
• Work closely with Nations Directors, Community Development Officers and the Fundraising team to secure the support required to sustain and grow the programme.
• Ensure robust risk management systems are in place to ensure the safety of participants and instructors.
• Ensure programme compliance with relevant policies and regulations.
• Review the programme annually to identify lessons learned or areas for development to drive continuous improvement.

• Work collaboratively as a member of the Programmes team, to share learning and develop innovative practice in programme design and development.
• Engage and proactively develop excellent working relationships across the organisation
• Undertake such other duties as may be reasonably required of the post.

Qualification

• Lowland Leader Award or higher

Knowledge and Experience

• Programme management experience – including responsibility for planning, budgeting, and monitoring and evaluation.
• Experience recruiting, training and managing staff, volunteers and suppliers.
• Experience designing and delivering a training programme – working with participants to drive innovation and continuous improvement.
• Knowledge and experience of working with young adults with an understanding of the potential barriers to participation in outdoor recreation.
• Experience managing relationships with strategic stakeholders.
• Further outdoor qualification or experience – especially walking, group leadership and risk management.

• Strong verbal, written and digital communication skills – with an ability to convey information clearly with a range of different audiences.

About the Role

As a Bank Worker, you'll work flexibly to provide ad hoc cover in the absence of permanent staff across a range of accommodation services. You'll ensure the safety, wellbeing and positive progression of young people by offering practical and emotional support, housing management, and administrative duties.

Whether it’s a one-off shift or regular cover, you’ll be a vital part of a dedicated team helping young people move towards independence and a positive future.

Key Responsibilities:

· Ensure the service is welcoming, safe and well-managed, adhering to safeguarding and health & safety protocols.

· Provide high-quality, person-centred support to young people in accommodation services.

· Respond to residents' needs sensitively and respectfully, promoting trust and empowerment.

· Maintain accurate records including log books, incident reports, and resident files.

· Liaise with external agencies including local authorities and benefits agencies.

· Assist residents in maintaining their accommodation and managing tenancy obligations.

· Collect service charges and manage petty cash in line with organisational procedures.

· Collaborate effectively with colleagues, including handing over key information at shift changes.

· Maintain cleanliness and encourage residents’ participation in shared responsibilities.

About You

We’re looking for someone who:

· Has experience working in homelessness, youth work or a related support environment (paid or voluntary).

· Understands the needs of young people facing homelessness and how to support them effectively.

· Communicates clearly and compassionately, with strong listening and writing skills.

· Can stay calm and professional in challenging situations.

· Is confident in using basic IT systems and maintaining accurate records.

· Is flexible and committed to providing high-quality, values-driven support.

· Aligns with the charity’s values and approach to inclusion, dignity, and empowerment.
