We’re looking for an experienced, passionate, strategic and creative Head of Development to join us as part of a job share and lead our support and capacity-building offer. 

You will have strategic oversight of our support offer to the voluntary, community, faith and social enterprise (VCFSE) sector in Somerset, leading on the provision of targeted support and infrastructure services. You will also lead the Development Team, develop a programme of forums and events across the county that support the training and networking needs of the sector, and work with colleagues to build our partnerships with local agencies.

You will bring significant leadership experience working with or supporting the development of voluntary sector organisations, groups or networks. You will have demonstrable experience of partnership working – including with the Public Sector – and knowledge of the principles of asset-based community development and empowerment.

In return, we offer flexible, hybrid working options, a free Employee Assistance Programme, up to 7.5 hours of volunteering leave per year, and an additional day of leave for your birthday.

This is a full-time, job share role, though part-time and flexible hours will be considered for the right candidate. The salary is £40,000-£43,000 per annum.

Join Derbyshire Children’s Holiday Centre in Skegness as a Summer Activity Leader and spend seven weeks creating life-changing experiences for children who really need a break.

For 135 years, Derbyshire Children’s Holiday Centre has provided seaside holidays for children from Derbyshire who are living in poverty, experiencing trauma, or facing multiple disadvantages. A week away from everyday pressures can help a child relax, grow in confidence, and believe in themselves again.

Victim Support is seeking a committed and detail-focused Deputy Team Leader to help coordinate and maintain excellent support for witnesses within busy Court environments in Chester and Crewe. Barnardo's is seeking an empathetic and child led individual who can work within a dynamic and fast-paced environment using their strong organisation, communication and time management skills to support children in the secure estate.

This position (Children's Rights and Advocacy Worker – Project Worker 2) is based within Wetherby YOI, York Road, Wetherby LS22 5ED, which accommodates children aged between 15-18 years, who are in custody either sentenced or on remand. Barnardo's refers to Young Offender Institutions (YOI's) and Secure Training Centres (STC's) as the Secure Estate (please note, the location of some secure establishments may mean they are not easily accessed by public transport).

Barnardo's is commissioned by the Ministry of Justice (MoJ) to provide an Independent Children's Rights and Advocacy (ICRAS) Service to children accommodated in a secure setting. The service is known to children as Barnardo's: Your Rights, Your Voice, and currently works within five Young Offender Institutes, and one Secure Training Centre. The ICRAS service is child led and independent of the secure estate; our service is delivered within Feltham YOI to ensure children can freely access support for a range of issues linked to their needs, rights & experiences of custody, resettlement, and safeguarding.  As such this is a child-facing service, and at times involves lone working in the establishments, so we are seeking someone who can see the child, not the offence.

We hold ‘voice' at the heart of all we do, therefore we feel the role is best described by someone who is currently working in this service: “The role is a Children's Rights and Advocacy role, which means it is our job to empower the children we work with and help them to understand that what they think, what they feel and what they want really matters. We can speak on behalf of children to ensure their voice is heard and we also have the opportunity to help them to find the tools and confidence to raise their voices for themselves.  Advocacy and Children's Rights support is particularly crucial in the secure estate because children are away from home, family and champions, and also because children in secure estate are some of the most vulnerable children in society; they have often faced considerable adversity, disadvantage and discrimination prior to arriving into custody and they might not therefore be equipped with the skills needed to articulate their concerns. Through the work you do with a child from simply helping them make contact with friends or family on the outside, to helping them with concerns they may have for example; discrimination, resettlement or safeguarding. You may be the one person telling them they matter for the very first time.”

The position (Children's Rights and Advocacy Worker – Project Worker 2) is line managed by a Team Manager, reporting to an off-site senior manager. The post holder will need to be able to work autonomously, working to the requirements of the contract and the regime of the YOI. The secure estate is a highly structured environment; as a Barnardo's service we deliver independent advocacy and support for a range of issues, whilst still having to follow and adhere to this structure.

This role includes lone working in this challenging prison environment. It is therefore critical that the successful candidate in this respect is able to follow guidance and policy and is able to take a proactive and individual responsibility to understand and access the support mechanisms in place and encouraged by the service as required.

The organisation is ranked among the world's top orchestras and is Resident Orchestra at the Barbican. This is a full-time, permanent role paying a salary of £45,000-£50,000. The postholder will be working in a hybrid model from their offices in London.

The Senior Individual Giving manager will lead a successful team to develop and implement the overall Individual Giving strategy. This will involve agreeing and monitoring annual individual giving income and expenditure budget and the postholder will deliver appealing stewardship programmes for supporters to include regular communications, personalised ticketing, and event opportunities. Reporting to the Head of Philanthropy, you will oversee the successful delivery and growth of the Friends and young Patrons schemes and will plan a regular calendar of engagement and cultivation opportunities.

The ideal candidate will have significant expertise in major donor fundraising, including building Essential relationships with high-net-worth individuals and securing five and six-figure gifts. They are looking for someone with experience of managing a team and a busy portfolio of generous donors. You will ideally also have experience collaborating with senior volunteers, with the ability to attend regular events outside of normal working hours.

This is a rare opportunity to manage a project supported by The National Lottery Heritage Fund at a pivotal moment. You'll oversee specialist consultants across visitor experience, accessibility, commercial development and community stewardship; coordinate our project Steering Group and ensure the programme is rigorously evaluated and reported to our funder.

We support our graduates as they take their first steps into work through mentoring, employer education, and progression management and support our graduates for up to one year after graduation, and sometimes longer if needed. 

Hotel School operates as a Psychologically Informed Environment (PIE), meaning our training programme is tailored to address the emotional and psychological needs of the individuals we work with. Within this framework, Hotel School adopts a Trauma-Informed approach when engaging with students and graduates, acknowledging that many may have encountered complex trauma.

About the Role

Join a small, passionate, and dynamic team committed to helping individuals from disadvantaged backgrounds complete their training and transition into sustainable, inclusive careers within the hospitality industry.

As an Employment & Progression Coach, you’ll work one-on-one with students and graduates, supporting them to overcome barriers, stay motivated, and achieve their goals, evoking meaningful change in their lives and futures.

You will also work closely with Hotel School hospitality employer partners to identify suitable job opportunities and collaborate to ensure our graduates are well-supported as they transition into and sustain meaningful employment.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide one-to-one, trauma-informed and person-centred employment support to students and graduates

• Help graduates overcome barriers and prepare for sustainable hospitality careers

• Work closely with employer partners to secure and support job opportunities

• Coordinate work experience placements and deliver employability workshops

• Collaborate with mentors and support services to ensure holistic, person-centred support

• Monitor and record the progress of students and graduates

• Follow safeguarding procedures and respond appropriately

About you

We’re looking for someone who is:

• Experienced working with people experiencing homelessness and/or other disadvantages or in

  employment services

• Compassionate, patient, and calm under pressure

• Passionate about empowering and motivating people to move forward

• Experienced in supporting people facing barriers

• Highly organised, proactive, adaptable, with great communication skills

• Able to build trust and communicate well with a wide range of people in person

• Experienced in admin and using systems (MS Office essential)

Bonus (but not essential):

• Hospitality experience

• Knowledge of trauma-informed or person-centred practice

Recruitment Process

Following that, selected candidates will be invited to an in-person interview at The Hotel School in central London. This includes a panel interview, a scenario task, and the opportunity to meet one of our graduates.

As Chief Executive, you must have the skills and experience to lead the dedicated, professional staff and volunteers in developing our services based on the needs of the sector, fulfilling the requirements of our funders, and actively seeking other opportunities for partnership work with statutory, private and VCSE partners.

The successful candidate will combine strategic and operational skills and have experience of effective leadership, including facilitating change in this sector. The role is offered at a salary of £51,500, plus pension and 28 days holiday a year.
