The Operations Officer is a vital enabler within UK Men’s Sheds Association (UKMSA), supporting the Director of Operations and wider team to ensure that internal systems, communications, and events run smoothly and effectively. Operating as a competent professional with minimal supervision, the postholder brings a practical, solutions-focused mindset to help our staff and volunteers navigate UKMSA with confidence and ease.

Acting as both a systems fixer and first point of contact, the Operations Officer handles incoming queries, whether by phone, email, or other channels, making sure they reach the right person quickly and are followed up appropriately. They take ownership of the “how”, for example, ensuring platforms like SharePoint are clear and usable, templates and resources are easy to find, and everyday processes feel intuitive and joined-up.

They also play a key role in supporting the delivery of UKMSA events, helping to coordinate logistics, manage information, and ensure all activities are well-organised, inclusive and aligned with UKMSA’s values. Proactive in spotting friction points across systems and operations, they resolve them constructively and collaboratively, always aiming to make things easier for others.

This role will suit someone who is calm under pressure, friendly, and unflappable; someone who brings patience and clarity when others feel frustrated, and who sees their job as enabling others to succeed. Key responsibilities:

1. Support to the Director of Operations

· Provide flexible and proactive administrative support to the Director of Operations across a range of operational functions.

· Maintain and update Breathe and all HR records and internal trackers, ensuring information is accurate, current, and securely stored.

· Assist with project coordination, document preparation, supplier management, and other operational tasks as delegated.

· Ensure tasks are completed in a timely and organised manner, helping the Director manage priorities and maintain momentum.

2. Systems and process support

· Help the entirely remote staff and volunteers navigate UKMSA’s systems and tools (for example, platforms like SharePoint) with clarity and confidence.

· Work with other UKMSA staff to make systems more straight-forward. For example, work with the Finance Manager to help volunteers find easier ways to claim expenses.  

· Act as a practical, approachable source of support for system-related queries, ensuring others can easily find what they need to do their job. Adapt systems considering their experiences.

· Identify pain points in internal processes and work constructively with others to improve them, streamlining structures, simplifying workflows, and keeping things running smoothly behind the scenes.

· Maintain and update shared systems and spaces to ensure they are accessible, user-friendly, and fit for purpose.

3. First point of contact

· Receive, triage and manage incoming phone calls, emails, and letters to UKMSA, ensuring they are passed on promptly and appropriately to the right member of staff or volunteer.

· Maintain clear systems for logging, redirecting, and following up on incoming queries to support accountability and responsiveness.

· Identify and suggest ways to make it easier for people, both inside and outside the organisation, to get the information or help they need efficiently. For example, work with the Membership Manager and Head of Volunteering to develop a bank of frequently used resources and materials.

4. Events co-ordination

· Support the Director of Operations, colleague and external consultants in the planning and delivery of UKMSA events including conferences, online webinars, training sessions, and member gatherings.

· Liaise with venues, suppliers, speakers, and internal colleagues to ensure smooth and timely event logistics.

· Manage practical event delivery tasks such as attendee registration, materials preparation, evaluation collection, and post-event communications.

· Contribute to the creation of inclusive, safe, well-organised events that reflect UKMSA’s values and create value for members, volunteers, and partners.

Key expertise required:

· Strong administrative and organisational skills, with a proven ability to manage multiple tasks, meet deadlines, and maintain accuracy across a range of operational and logistical duties.

· Experience supporting senior leaders or operational functions, ideally in a charity, membership organisation or similarly values-led environment.

· Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the confidence and professionalism to liaise effectively with staff, volunteers, suppliers, and members of the public.

· Proficiency with digital systems and platforms, including file storage systems (e.g. SharePoint or Google Drive), spreadsheets, document templates, and basic CRM or event tools.

· Experience supporting events coordination, including handling logistics, communicating with participants, and ensuring smooth delivery.

This job is not:

· This is not a strategic or senior leadership role. While the Operations Officer supports cross-organisational functions and works closely with senior staff, they are not responsible for setting strategy or making high-level decisions.

· This is not a purely administrative role. Although administration is an important part of the job, the role goes beyond task-based support, requiring initiative, systems thinking, and confident engagement with people across the organisation.

· This is not a technical IT role, though the postholder should be confident using digital systems and helping others navigate them.

· This is not a passive or isolated role. The Operations Officer is expected to proactively work closely with colleagues, volunteers, board members, and external contacts, often representing the operational “face” of the organisation and playing a key role in how things function day to day.

· This is not a static or routine-only role. As systems improve and the organisation evolves, the challenges and priorities will shift especially if the postholder is effective at smoothing processes and solving problems. The role requires adaptability, curiosity, and a willingness to respond to what’s needed.

WE ARE LOOKING FOR ASSISTANT CASE OFFICER TO WORK WITHIN OUR MISSION AND PASTORAL SERVICES TEAM

The Church Commissioners have the governance and management responsibility for the Mission and Pastoral Measure 2011, which provides a regulatory framework which enables the Church to support the provision of local worship, mission and ministry, and to adapt that provision as circumstances change over time. The Measures provides a decision-making process for changes relating to pastoral change, ministry provision change and church building change. The Commissioners also deal with processes under the Church Property Measure 2018 and the Church Commissioners' Chancel Repair Liability Measure.

The purpose of the role is to oversee and manage the decision making processes and provide advice under the Mission and Pastoral Measure 2011 (MPM), the Church Property Measure 2018 (CPM), and related legislation (including the Patronage (Benefices) Measure 1986 and the Church Representation Rules, and responsibilities relating to chancel repair liability (CRL). A major part of the team's role is to support the transition from the existing MPM, to a new Measure, and the related transition programme which will be rolled out to dioceses and parishes over between 2024 to 2027.

The Assistant CO post will work with mainly with the M&PS case officers to decision making and case work under the requirements of the legislation set out above. They will also work closely with the team managers to plan and manage the casework load and support the decision making processes of the Mission, Pastoral and Church Property Committee.

Main Responsibilities

• Conduct research into a range of technical and legal matters, including verifying the legal names of parishes and benefices, patronage details, and responding to related queries.

• Draft and publish Mission and Pastoral Measure (MPM) schemes for consultation, ensuring accuracy and clarity throughout the process.

• Support Case Officers in presenting MPM or Church Property Measure (CPM) decisions to the Mission, Pastoral and Church Property Committee, and assist with any subsequent appeals.

• Assist the M&PS Operations Manager in planning committee visits, public hearings, and other operational tasks associated with committee meetings.

• Contribute to the planning and monitoring of casework and performance reporting, working closely with the M&PS Operations Manager.

• Coordinate and manage internal and external meeting processes related to the above functions, ensuring smooth and efficient operations.

• Provide administrative support for the implementation of the new Mission and Pastoral Measure and the Measure concerning Chancel Repair Liability.

• Offer support in record management and data governance, including preparing briefings and information for performance and risk management purposes using dedicated data systems.

• Help the M&PS Operations Manager with planning and coordinating team activities such as monthly meetings, away days, and special events.

• Assist with communications activities, including the distribution of regular e-newsletters to diocesan teams.

• Support the coordination and promotion of the diocesan training programme.

• Assist with financial processes related to departmental expenditure, ensuring compliance and accuracy.

• Contribute to audit and risk management processes, maintaining high standards of accountability.

• Provide briefings and information to support internal NCI processes, including responses to General Synod or Parliamentary questions, and preparing materials for the Board of Governors and senior officers.

• Deliver general administrative support to the M&PS team, including handling post and printing tasks.

• Undertake any required specialist or generalist training to support the role effectively.

The charity is seeking a dedicated Philanthropy Officer to join its ambitious Fundraising Team and play a key role in sustaining and growing income from trusts and foundations. This role will lead on writing compelling funding proposals and reports, ensuring that deadlines are met and donor stewardship remains exemplary. We are looking to recruit a Retail Assistant to join our team based at our London site. You will join us on a part-time basis working 988 hours per year on an annualised contract for a fixed term period of 1 year. In return, you will receive a salary of £13,685.93 per annum.

Purpose of the Retail Assistant role:

We are looking to recruit a retail assistant.

You will be part of a customer focused team working across both the museum’s retail outlet and admissions point. The ideal person for this position should have excellent customer service skills and the ability to promote and up-sell products, experiences, and activities to our visitors, have a friendly attitude and the ability to multi-task. You must be able to demonstrate ability to deliver exceptional visitor service, ensuring that the experience provided by The Royal Air Force Museum exceeds the expectations of all visitors and that they are delighted with our first-class service and connected with our compelling stories.

Based on an annualised contract, your total annual working hours will be equal to 988 hours. A working week will have a minimum of zero hours and a maximum of 35 hours. A working shift will normally be no less than 4 hours and no more than 7 hours. A normal working week will not exceed working 5 days out of 7. Actual weekly hours will depend on operational requirements. Standard hours will be between 9.30am and 5.30pm but are subject to change based on reasonable and timely operational requirements, including working regular weekends.

Key responsibilities of our Retail Assistant include:

• Providing high standards of customer care through pro-active and re-active engagement with visitors
• Operating commercial experiences, and associated tills
• Maximising commercial experiences revenue by actively promoting the experiences and ensuring the they operate at the appropriate times
• Quickly reporting any commercial experiences issues to the relevant people, including liaising directly with external contractors where appropriate
• Ensuring all security and health and safety requirements are adhered to at all times, including the completion and recording of daily and weekly checks
• Operating flexibly across a range of customer care roles
• Accurately cash-up and reconcile tills/EPOS system as required
• Utilising all visitor interactions as an opportunity to promote additional income generation.

What we are looking for in our Retail Assistant:

About the role 

Volunteers are vital to Parkinson’s UK; they provide high valued support and services through local branches, groups and cafes. This rewarding role provides the opportunity to work directly with volunteers, together making a positive difference to the lives of people affected by Parkinson’s. 

You’ll act as the main point of contact and support for volunteers in local branches, groups and cafes. As part of an integrated regional team, you’ll contribute to shared plans and priorities. Working remotely and in person, you’ll provide the highest quality customer care and support volunteers in line with the charity’s governance requirements, as well as our policies and procedures. You’ll provide high quality business support to colleagues to promote volunteering opportunities and bring volunteers together in the local community.

What you’ll do:

• Provide excellent customer service to local group volunteers through remote and in-person support. 

• Be the main point of contact for colleagues seeking support to recruit volunteers in the community as part of a regional team. 

• Support volunteers to lead their groups in line with governance requirements through provision of information and relevant tools. 

• Support our local group volunteers with reviewing and planning their activities (including associated budgets). 

• Manage volunteer records using online tools such as the volunteer management system, local activities database, for example. 

• Support events and meetings which bring volunteers together in the community. 

• Promote and facilitate volunteer recruitment, induction and training to local volunteer roles. 

• Maintain relevant data on local group activities, or support lead volunteers to do so.

The key duties of the Director of Finance, People & Culture are as follows:

• Lead strategic financial and HR planning in collaboration with Co-CEOs and Finance & Resources Committee
• Drive implementation of Strategy 2030 particularly those strategies pertaining to Womankind’s goals to value our team and decolonise our practice
• Support assessment of funding landscape and sustainable financing strategies
• Ensure effective 3-year rolling budgeting and planning cycles
• Line manage Finance, People & Culture team, provide coaching, supervision, and development support, whilst building team capacity through process improvement
• Oversee budgeting, forecasting, and reporting processes
• Lead annual audit and statutory accounts production in the UK and Kenya
• Act as Company Secretary to Board of Trustees
• Ensure consistent quality and delivery of all finance processes (internal and external)
• Strategic development and review of Human Resource management, policies and processes
• Shape and model a feminist, inclusive, and high-performing organisational culture that aligns with Womankind’s values

The successful candidate will have:

• Qualification: A full, recognised accounting qualification
