The Benefits Service within SEL Mind is a well-established offer of support to clients who need to access welfare benefits they are entitled to receive.

The service currently operates across Bromley, Lewisham and Greenwich, delivered in partnership with local NHS. It includes dedicated welfare benefits advisors who provide casework support, and a cross-area team of volunteers who assist with form filling and assessments for health and disability benefits.

We are looking for a Welfare Benefits Specialist in Bromley to support clients to access the benefits they are entitled to. We are looking for someone with significant experience of working within welfare benefits in either a paid or voluntary capacity. Ideally, this will include providing representation at appeals and giving advice on complex entitlement issues. A strong understanding of the needs of people with mental health problems is also essential to this role.

This role will involve:

• Advising clients on benefit entitlements
• Challenging benefit decisions and representing clients at appeals
• Working with colleagues in SEL Mind and Oxleas NHS Trust to make sure clients receive integrated support from our services
• Supporting the work of volunteers

Carer Wellbeing Workers provide invaluable services to help improve carers’ resilience and ensure they are supported to maintain their caring roles. They provide tailored information and advice, practical, emotional and planning support, peer opportunities, contingency planning, active listening and through partnership working are pro-active in the identification of carers.

Using experience of working with adults and families, a working knowledge and / or lived experience of social care and health, the postholder will use excellent communication and interpersonal skills to offer carers one-to-one and group support either face to face, via the telephone or using virtual video mediums such as Zoom or MS Teams. 

The role is a mix of remote / homeworking and community venues. You will be expected to be readily able to travel across Adur, Arun and Worthing to deliver carer support and on occasion to venues across the County to attend meetings and training as required.

Purpose

The Fundraising Development Officer supports the delivery of our individual giving programme, helping to nurture current supporters and attract new ones.

You will be responsible for building our regular giving support, implementing supporter journeys and co-ordinating our annual appeals. You will also work closely with the Head of Fundraising in developing our major donor plans, and support with other individual giving channels, including in-memory giving and legacy giving.

We are looking for someone who has great communication and relationship management skills, and a collaborative approach. You will be a self-motivated, proactive and analytical individual with the ability to build, manage and develop relationships across teams.

While a background in fundraising is desirable, it is not essential. If you bring the right skills and are willing to learn, we'd love to hear from you.

Key responsibilities and duties

• Manage our ‘Friends of Charlie Waller’ regular giving scheme, building the supporter numbers and engagement with the charity.
• Deliver exceptional supporter care to our regular supporters, recognising opportunities for deeper engagement and potential for further support.
• Implement the supporter journeys for regular and one-off donors, creating communications to engage them with the cause and understand the impact.

You’ll be overseeing and supporting Shine’s volunteers around the country, ensuring that they have what they need to reach as many young adults with cancer as possible. You’ll also work closely with Shine’s Programme Delivery Manager to deliver training and support programmes directly to young adults with cancer and healthcare professionals.

Location:  Hybrid, with two days per week at Shine’s offices in Blackheath, South East London or in Poole, Dorset.

Hours & salary:  Full time (35 hours per week). Salary range is £33,000 - £35,000 pro rata, depending on experience.

This is a one year contract to cover maternity leave starting mid/late January 2026.

Volunteer Support

• Support Shine’s volunteer Network Leaders across England, Scotland and Wales to develop their Shine Networks, ensuring that they provide the best possible support to young adults with cancer. This will include an annual support plan, developing and testing new ways of expanding Shine’s reach, and regular catch-up calls. 

• Work with Shine staff and facilitators to recruit, train and support new volunteers from across the UK.

About the role 

Since LRU started campaigning for rent controls in 2024, we’ve secured the support of MPs, trade unions and charities, organised large demonstrations and pushed the issue of rising rents up the political agenda.

The purpose of this role is to work alongside members and other union staff to take our campaigning for rent controls to the next level through a combination of protests, local organising, coalition building and targeting of power holders, landlords and corporations. 

How we work at LRU

You will be part of the LRU staff team alongside 12 other staff, who work with members to build the power of the union by organising, campaigning, training and supporting peer support and member solidarity actions.  We expect staff to uphold the union's values, and work together to implement collectively agreed strategies.  The staff team are accountable to the elected member Coordinating Group.

Job description

• Support members to organise ambitious and effective actions and protests in support of rent controls.

• Leading on specific projects and campaigns as part of the Cut the Rent campaign and other campaign priorities decided by LRU members.  For example, if the campaigns committee decides to target a particular developer or politician as part of the wider Cut the Rent campaign.

• Working with the Union Coordinator and members to implement and track progress on the overall Cut the Rent strategy.

• Implementing organising approaches to ensure that the Cut the Rent campaigns builds the active membership and power of the union.

• Working alongside the Union Coordinator to represent LRU in external meetings and events, and help to build LRU’s relationships with other organisations.  Supporting members to do this.

• Ensure meetings of the Campaigns Committee are effective and well run.

• Work alongside members and other other staff to ensure branches participate in the Cut the Rent campaign, and feed into strategy.

• Contribute to the collective activity of the Organising Team, including taking part in phone banking and outreach sessions and team meetings.

• As time allows, work alongside other members of the staff Organising Team to support members outside of branch areas to participate in the Cut the Rent campaign.

We're looking for a IT Service Desk Administrator to join our Technology Team. In this role, you'll provide vital administrative support for our technology service desk, working closely with the Technology Support team to ensure a high level of service. You'll handle everything from issuing equipment to new starters and providing basic IT support to ensuring our meeting rooms are running smoothly. As our IT Administrator you’ll be part of our Technology Team and will provide administrative support for our technology service desk team. 

You’ll work with the Technology Services Manager and provide a key role in the Technology Service Team ensuring a high level of service at all times

Please note: You'll be known internally as a Technology Support Administrator

What you’ll do

• Issue IT equipment for new starters and managing returned equipment for leavers

• Telephone, face to face and remote support - responding to requests for support and raising tickets on the service desk 

• Basic IT support using the knowledge base to guide users to resolve their own issues. 

• Ensure that support issues are kept up to date and have sufficient detail

• Provide support for our video conferencing equipment and meeting rooms

What you’ll bring

• Previous experience of working in an  administration role, preferably as part of an IT team 

• A commitment to delivering outstanding customer service skills and demonstrable experience of dealing with support queries 

• Excellent organisational skills and the ability to prioritise your own work

• Experience in being part of a team implementing new solutions and improvements
