Charity People are delighted to be supporting AdviceUK, a small charity which improves the lives of people in need of advice through support to its members, to recruit a Head of Policy and Public Affairs.
AdviceUK makes a big impact. Its stakeholder, policy and advocacy work is across devolved nations as well as the UK. They support members, so it is easier for them to help their clients, and by directly influencing policy-makers, decision-makers and funders. There are currently 700 AdviceUK members and 1.7m people were offered free advice by members on a diverse range of issues including debt, housing, benefits and immigration problems.
This is an exciting time to join AdviceUK's growing team as they launch a new three-year strategy. The organisation will be making a significant investment in capacity, new support services and innovation to deliver the support and advice that members, the wider advice sector and their communities need.
The Head of Policy and Public Affairs will lead and have oversight of all policy and public affairs activities; developing the function; establishing policy positions; delivering evidence-driven campaigns and effective stakeholder engagement; to secure policy change and funding to benefit people seeking advice and the communities served by members.
Key responsibilities
- Strategic Leadership: Develop and implement effective strategies for policy and funder influence, ensuring alignment with AdviceUK's strategic objectives. Provide ongoing strategic oversight of political and sector trends to inform decision-making.
- Policy Development and Advocacy: Lead the creation and coordination of clear policy positions, identify influencing goals, and overseeing responses to government consultations. Represent AdviceUK at external events.
- Public Affairs Management: Oversee a proactive public affairs strategy, build relationships with key government contacts, manage stakeholder engagement, ensure effective public affairs leadership, and amplify influencing work.
- Campaign and Media Leadership: Oversee the development of effective campaigns, mobilising support and leveraging media opportunities to raise awareness and drive action on priority issues for AdviceUK.
- Research and Evidence: Oversee research and analysis to support policy and campaign objectives, ensuring evidence-based insights inform advocacy efforts.
- Leadership and Management: Provide effective leadership to the Policy and Public Affairs Department as well as other staff, line managing the department, ensuring strong performance and supporting learning and development.
- Funding and Financial Management: Foster funder relationships to secure income for AdviceUK, manage departmental finances, and ensure efficient programme management of grant-funded initiatives.
The Head of Policy and Public Affairs will have at least 3 years' experience of working in a similar role and experience and/or an understanding of the social welfare advice sector, the issues faced by advice providers and the communities they serve. The successful candidate will have developed and delivered impactful policy and public affairs strategies that have led to demonstrable change either directly or by working in coalitions and partnerships. You will have experience of acting as a spokesperson including to the media, at events, to select committees and other government or funder-led working groups. You will be a strategic leader with the ability to build strong working relationships and manage and motivate a team. You will have strong analytical, organisational and prioritisation skills.
This role is home-based. You will need to attend meetings and events in London as part of the role and quarterly SMT meetings and all staff meetings with some travel across the UK and overnight stays. There may be out of hours work for which TOIL is granted.

The My Name’5 Doddie Foundation has a single, clear vision: a world free of Motor Neuron Disease (MND). The Director of Research is a key position in the organisation that leads our research activities, managing a small team as we invest in a prioritised and focused research portfolio. Prior to the Al Haouz earthquake in September 2023 EFA funded six boarding houses, enabling young women to access senior school education. Five boarding houses were destroyed. Astonishingly, no girls or staff were in them at the time.
We are unashamedly ambitious to build on EFAs transformational work over the last two decades. Our Covid Recovery Strategy focussed on widening our impact, and the earthquake has just made us even more determined to deliver on our promise, because we have never been more relevant.
Due to the extraordinary generosity of donors, we have funding in place to support a major rebuilding programme. However we don't want to simply rebuild. Due to covid and the earthquake there is a lot of catching up to do.
As Head of Fundraising & Communications you will work with the trustees to deliver the strategic vision, by developing and implementing a successful fundraising and communications strategy. A new website is under construction and the successful applicant will play a leading role in determining its fundraising functionality, content, and messaging.

- Support the Chair and Vice Chair of Trustees; helping to prepare and distribute monthly meeting agendas, supporting papers, co-ordinating virtual meeting schedule, drafting and distributing minutes, .-
- Support the Chair of Governance ensuring Trustee and Staff Handbooks (policies and protocols), risk register, are uptodate and accessible via the website portal. Lead the administration process for the recruitment of trustees and staff, including the preparation of candidate packs, advertising, induction. Oversight of the EFA Partnership Agreements.
- Support the Chair of Educaton re liaison with relevant external auditors (safeguarding, health and safety, risk). Linking with Moroccan partners to agree on timing and arrangements for audit visits. Ensuring reports are available to trustees as agreed.

The Role

Previous experience in fundraising is desirable however, we are also keen to speak with people who have transferable skills including meeting financial targets, working proactively, independently and flexibly. Your role
As our new parent adviser you’ll join our wonderful team in Wales as part of our Building Resilience Project.
In this part time, home-based role, you’ll have the opportunity to support and mentor parent carers, helping them develop their skills, knowledge, and confidence to make decisions that are best for their families. You’ll also help create and deliver well-being workshops for parent carers to empower, inform, and reduce their stress and help increase their confidence so they are able to access the benefits they are entitled to. And you’ll work in partnership with money advice organisations across Wales, to set up referrals for parent carers to make sure they get all the financial support they need.
What we’re looking for
- Experience of working with and supporting families who have disabled children in Wales.
- Ability to support and mentor parent carers to develop the skills, knowledge, and confidence to make decisions that are right for their families.
- Experience in creating, facilitating, and delivering workshops

- Knowledge and experience of the issues and concerns that affect families who have disabled children e.g. leisure provision, education, respite care.

About the role:
This role is based In Pontypool Police Station however we have currently adopted a hybrid model. As a Triage and Early Interventions Officer you will:
- act as the first point of contact for clients referred to the service, completing impact & risks assessments & providing a tailored response
- follow agreed processes to contact victims of domestic abuse & sexual violence
- manage a caseload of clients requiring immediate & short term interventions, referring on those with more long term needs
- maintain accurate & confidential case management records providing performance information as required
- respond appropriately to safeguarding concerns
- ensure that all clients are of aware of their rights under the Victim's Code of Practice & the Witness Charter
You will need:
- a good understanding & use of the English language both verbally and in writing
- knowledge of safeguarding issues
- the ability to manage a demanding workload to meet a range of conflicting deadlines
- expereince in developing & maintaining partnerships with internal & external stakeholders
- Good telephone & IT skills required to use a database
- to work as part of a team as well as working independently without direct supervision

The International Co-ordinator supports the effective delivery of Wales Arts International’s activities, its projects and services. This includes the development of international information services, co-ordination of communication, correspondence and appointments. It also involves the planning, organisation and administration of internal and external meetings, events and conferences and participation in delivering frontline contact work with sectors in Wales and in international contexts.
The primary focus of this specific role is to provide a high quality administrative and support service to Arts Infopoint UK. It will work alongside the Arts Infopoint UK Officer, Arts Infopoint UK partners and the Wales Arts International team.
Arts Infopoint UK is an initiative to support the arts sector with information on practical issues relating to artist international mobility. Arts Council of Wales’s international agency, Wales Arts International (WAI), is leading the project in partnership with Creative Scotland, Arts Council England, and Arts Council of Northern Ireland.
About you

Action for M.E. is the only charity in the UK providing direct support including healthcare services to children and adults with M.E. The Role
Global Greengrants Fund UK is looking to hire an energetic and passionate individual who will play a key role in collaborating across teams to support finance and grantmaking. They are responsible for the smooth running of all transactional processes for grants, payments, reconciliations, and financial reporting. They will also lead on any applicable system enhancements thus offering a critical and wide-ranging systems support role for the grantmaking charity. They will ensure that financial transactions are properly allocated, recorded, and maintained and assist in the preparation of audit data as well as supporting project reporting to aid in the preparation of the annual statutory audit and project reports.
As part of the finance and operations team, they will join a growing team currently staffed by four members in the UK. The Candidate Profile
The successful applicant will have significant relevant experience in a similar role in a charitable, environmental, development, social justice, feminist, gender, human rights, and/or grantmaking organisation. They demonstrate knowledge and experience in charity/nonprofit grant accounting/financial issues and dealing with both financial and grant information and processes, understand accounting principles, and have knowledge of accounting, grantmaking, and budgeting processes. They have cash management, banking, and payment experiences. They demonstrate excellent administrative and organisational skills, and the ability to ensure the accuracy of work and demonstrate precise attention to detail. They will have the skills to give, receive, and work with feedback constructively. They also thrive in a virtual environment, motivated to take on challenges and collaboratively find innovative and creative solutions. Multiple language skills would be ideal, while English fluency is a must.

This is an exciting opportunity to join the RNIB in a special project developed in partnership with housing providers in Wales.
The Vision Friends project aims to increase knowledge and awareness of sight loss and hidden sight loss in older people across all tenures from general needs housing to supported housing, sheltered, extra care housing, care homes and nursing homes.
As a Vison Friends Project Engagement and Training Officer, you will be in charge of delivering and monitoring the project, including creating communication plans, reports and stakeholders' networks. You will also identify training needs for the team and deliver training to project partners, developing content and solutions, and ensuring that Vision Friends and project partners have the right tools to make this project a success. By representing the RNIB/RNIB Cymru on local and national groups, you will ensure inclusion and access to information advice and support to enhance the wellbeing and independence of people with sight loss.
The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in delivering training, using different mediums, such as Microsoft Teams and face to face sessions, and project management. They will also have significant experience of the sight loss sector and/or working with older people or people with complex needs such as Dementia, Stroke or Learning disabilities.
