Main duties:

• To identify and research themes for each issue, sourcing and managing contributors to ensure the magazine has a clear, consistent, relevant and interesting voice to the readership.
• To lead on planning, sourcing contributors, writing and managing content of Under 5 magazine, 10 issues produced every year
• To liaise with Communications and External Affairs colleagues to ensure that corporate partnership publicity, advertorial, editorial and competition deals are delivered to meet terms of contra deals in relevant issues of Under 5.
• To write, edit and upload regular online news stories for selected digital communication including planning, writing and managing content for the fortnightly Under 5 e-newsletter.

Essential criteria:

• Proven experience of working on magazine in an editorial role with an ability to lead on commissioning, writing, sub-editing and proofing professional copy.
• Excellent journalistic writing skills, with the ability to write concise and accurate news copy.
• Clear understanding and practical experience of managing magazine print and production processes
• Strong interpersonal skills with direct experience of managing internal and external suppliers, journalists, production staff, advertisers and contributors.
• Strong creative and written skills with an ability to produce clear, accurate and interesting copy tailored for different audiences.

Join our team as Director of Education, helping us to support teachers, champion great teaching and raise the status of the profession. The Director of Education will advocate for the need for a strong professional body and its importance to teachers and leaders. The role will articulate the vision and ethos of the Chartered College of Teaching and inspire and empower internal and external stakeholders and the teaching profession to achieve the vision. The role will lead the growth of three core income streams: Chartered Status, membership and funded projects, and will represent the Chartered College of Teaching externally and grow our strategic networks. • Advise on the education content of external communications

Community Action Redbridge is looking for a Project Manager to lead our Connected Communities Project, a successful social prescribing initiative that helps people build resilience, reduce loneliness, and connect with the support they need to improve their wellbeing. 

In this pivotal role, you’ll lead the day-to-day delivery and ongoing development of the project, guiding and supporting a small, dedicated team. Working in close partnership with voluntary and community organisations, the NHS, and other local agencies, you’ll help strengthen Redbridge’s community support infrastructure. You’ll champion person-led, strengths-based approaches, ensuring our work remains inclusive, responsive, and firmly grounded in what truly matters to the people we support. 

We’re looking for someone who is organised, compassionate, and skilled in partnership working; confident in leading teams and managing projects; adept at maintaining and developing project systems and processes and committed to tackling inequalities and promoting wellbeing across diverse communities. 

Prior experience in social prescribing, project coordination, or health and wellbeing initiatives will be especially valued. 

This role is offered on a hybrid basis, with a requirement to work three days per week in our Gants Hill office.

The Role

The HR Manager will operate across the full range of HR generalist functions spanning the staff hire to retire cycle, supporting members of the team who lead specialisms within this (such as recruitment, onboarding, reward and learning and development) to ensure seamless service design and delivery. As a key contact for all HTB Group Entity COOs, Heads of Department (HoDs) and Line Managers, the HR Manager will consult and agree, in liaison with the Head of People appropriate action and support for entity leaders and their teams in all operational HR matters. They will work alongside other senior members of the People Team to provide advice and support that is pragmatic and culturally appropriate while remaining at all times fully legally compliant. The HR Manager is likely to line manage one or two members of the team and will take the lead in certain areas, skill set dependent.

The Key Responsibilities

• Build healthy, dynamic relationships with entity leaders and managers to continually develop ways of working that fit entity-specific requirements in line with core HTB Group policies and procedures.
• Maintain a knowledge of best practice compliance with employment law and regulatory requirements to support appropriate risk management relating to staff employment and personnel management.
• Oversee complex employee relations cases, ensuring resolution aligns with organisational values and legal compliance.

• Ensure the appropriate and comprehensive documentation of key meetings and discussions between staff, line managers and the People Team regarding HR issues.
• Assist all levels of management with the performance management process, disciplinary and redundancy processes, and probationary period responsibilities.
• Work alongside HR Operations to support delivery of the core HR annual agenda. Lead strategic initiatives in partnership with the Head of People, contributing to the design and execution of group-wide HR strategies.
• Working with the senior People team develop relationships with external providers of benefits and services for the HTB Group.

• Support on annual budget setting and show good stewardship the resources available to you.
• Contribute to the ongoing review and update of operating processes to ensure continuous improvement of the team’s service provision.
• Report progress and people / staff analytics to senior management to facilitate effective decision making.
• Create proactive and effective programmes for upskilling HoDs and Line Managers in their understanding and handling of the full range of employee relations issues.
• Support and contribute to the ongoing growth of our Learning and Development offering.
• Will play an integral part in the recruitment and onboarding process.
• Collaborate closely with the Senior HR Manager to deliver key aspects of the People Team function, providing mutual support, and stepping in when needed to ensure continuity and effectiveness.

The Right Candidate

• Significant expertise in generalist HR practice, including operating at HR Manager level, with a proven ability to lead and influence across both strategic and operational HR functions.
• CIPD qualified Level 5 or equivalent qualification. Chartered Member of the CIPD.
• Credibility with line managers and excellent relationship building skills; a strongly people-focussed stance with the ability to maintain a practical and pragmatic approach to problem-solving and case-handling.
• The highest integrity, sensitivity and confidentiality.
• Unflappable, tenacious attitude that allows the role holder to work effectively in a dynamic and flexible context.

Role Summary

Julie’s Bicycle (JB) is seeking an experienced and hands-on professional who can contribute to the organisation's financial strategy and future resilience. This is a senior leadership role within the Operations and Finance function, where you will be working closely with the Managing Director, Head of Programmes, CEO, and Treasurer, providing the essential financial intelligence needed to guide key organisational decisions.

The Role

The Finance Manager will be a pivotal position within JB’s senior leadership team, responsible for the effective and efficient management of all financial operations. This role requires a highly experienced and hands-on professional who can seamlessly manage day-to-day bookkeeping and compliance while also contributing to the organisation's financial strategy and future resilience.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in charity finance, a deep understanding of VAT complexities, and the ambition to grow into a strategic financial leader. You will work closely with the Managing Director, CEO, and Treasurer, providing the essential financial intelligence needed to guide key organisational decisions.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Management And Reporting (Operational & Strategic)

• Hands-on bookkeeping and transaction management: Oversee and execute all financial transactions, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll preparation, and bank reconciliations using the organisation's accounting software.

• Management accounts: Prepare accurate and timely monthly management accounts, commentary, and analysis for the Managing Director, CEO, and the Board of Trustees.

• Statutory compliance: Manage all aspects of Charity SORP compliant financial reporting. Prepare and coordinate the annual statutory audit, working directly with external auditors. Oversee filing and reporting to regulators including the Charity Commission and Companies House.

• VAT and tax compliance: Lead on all VAT compliance, including preparation and submission of quarterly VAT returns, ensuring full adherence to HMRC regulations, particularly those unique to the charity sector, including partial exemption requirements and annual adjustments.

• Budgeting and forecasting: Coordinate and support the annual budgeting process. Develop regular financial forecasts and projections to ensure the organisation remains financially sustainable.

• Cashflow management: Monitor and manage the organisation's cash flow, ensuring adequate funds are available for all operational needs.

• Payroll: Manage the relationship with the outsourced payroll provider, collate salary information, ensuring is accurate and up-to-date and manage pension payments.

• Coordination of confidential finance administration: Business rates/premises, company bank accounts, credit card software, audit preparation, companies house, PL, EL, PI & and drive insurance renewal process

Strategic support and leadership development

• Financial insight as part of the Senior Leadership Team: Develop and deliver clear, data-driven financial analysis and insights to inform strategic decision-making across the organisation (SLT, SMT and Board).

• Policy and procedure: Review and maintain robust financial controls, policies, and procedures to safeguard the charity’s assets and ensure best practice.

• Strategic recommendations: In collaboration with the MD and CEO, research and present options for improving financial efficiency, exploring new funding models, and strengthening the long-term financial health of Julie's Bicycle.

• Board support: Prepare monthly management accounts, as well as comprehensive financial reports for quarterly Trustee meetings, attending meetings as required to present and discuss financial performance.

• Training the team: Embed a culture of financial curiosity, procedures and basic literacy.

Grant And Project Finance

• Restricted funds: Maintain meticulous records for all restricted and designated funds, ensuring compliance with all donor and grant conditions.

• Grant reporting: Lead on preparing detailed financial reports for funders (e.g., Arts Council England, trusts, foundations), ensuring all expenditure is accurately recorded and compliant with specific grant requirements. Consolidate all the above into a shared reporting calendar.

Person Specification

Essential experience and knowledge

• Qualified accountant (ACA/ACCA/CIMA/AAT), with at least 5-10 years of demonstrable, progressive experience in a similar finance role, with a significant portion gained within the UK charity/non-profit sector.

• In-depth, practical knowledge of UK charity financial regulations and Charity SORP.

• Expert-level understanding of VAT for charities, including partial exemption and trading subsidiaries.

• Proven ability to manage the full accounting cycle, from transaction entry (bookkeeping) through to preparing statutory accounts.

• Experience in managing the annual audit process and engaging with external auditors.

• Excellent proficiency with accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Xero, Sage, Aquila) and advanced Excel skills.

The Bumblebee Conservation Trust (the Trust) is recruiting a part-time HR Manager.

The purpose of this role is to manage and develop all core HR functions, supporting employees and the organisation and ensuring the delivery of HR services which are efficient, inclusive and aligned to the Trust values. 

Based on the developing People Strategy, the HR team deliver a wide range of HR projects for continuous improvement. This is an exciting opportunity to make a positive difference in a friendly, highly focussed organisation with an important mission.

The role will line manage the Senior HR Officer and oversees HR operations, recruitment, policy development, staff development, wellbeing, EEDI and remuneration processes.  The post provides an advisory service to the senior management team and will have the opportunity to play a key role within many of the Trust teams.

The Team

IPS Grow is a national programme designed to support the expansion of Individual Placement and Support (IPS) services in mental health, primary care, and drug and alcohol teams across England. The programme is in partnership with the Centre for Mental Health.
