People to Places is a charitable organisation based in the Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead, UK. It provides a community transport service for residents of the area who have transportation and/or mobility issues due to age, sickness or disability (mental or physical), poverty, or because of a lack of adequate and safe public transport services. With a fleet of minibuses specially adapted to assist people with mobility equipment or additional mobility needs, People to Places delivers high-quality services aimed at improving social inclusion and accessibility. In addition, we also provide Shopmobility services in Windsor and Maidenhead town centres, this service provides the loan of wheelchairs and mobility scooters to people with limited mobility, to help them shop and access leisure and commercial facilities within the area.

We’ve been fundraising since 1988, but this newly created role allows you to consolidate our past successes, significantly diversifying and enhancing the quality and value of our supporter base. 

As a senior manager in the organisation, this post gives you the opportunity to develop our support for local people who are lonely, isolated and with little or no mobility. Therefore, you will contribute to enhancing the organisation, as well as playing a critical fundraising role. 

You are ambitious, with the drive and expertise across a range of fundraising activities. So, you will have:

• Experience with identifying funding opportunities, particularly through grants, maintaining a pipeline of opportunities, taking a creative approach to problem solving, to capitalise on opportunities.
• A good track record of achieving fundraising targets, generating income through a range of sources including Trusts/high net worth individuals, Corporate Partners and Commissioned Services.
• Excellent communication skills, including verbal and written, with the ability to create compelling cases for support and delivering impactful presentations that tell stories and lead to new supporters getting involved.
• A strategic and evidence-led approach to measure impact and influence change, with strong influencing skills in a range of settings.

Location: Our main office is located in Maidenhead and we have Shopmobility offices in Windsor and Maidenhead that may also be used. 

Hybrid working is available, in the context that, initially at least, this post needs to be highly visible, both internally and externally.

Hours: 37.5 hours per week Monday – Friday including some evenings and weekends

This important role will represent FareShare Sussex & Surrey engaging with corporate partners and key stakeholders such as council leaders, politicians and dignitaries across the region. 

Using your experience in engagement and relationship management you will work to consolidate existing partnerships and seek new opportunities across Sussex & Surrey, working to build strong relationships locally and encourage partnership, donations, sponsorships and corporate volunteering. The development team has an ambitious target of £1 million to raise, through various streams including corporate partnerships, individual giving, trust applications and other fundraising activities each year. The role will manage the corporate income stream and requires collaboration with all income generation to ensure effective management and stewardship of all partners.

You will develop an exciting donor journey which engages and encourages support from businesses and key stakeholders. Working with high-value supporters to maintain a good relationship with the organisation and fostering new partnerships. 

You will also work alongside our food Supply Manager to help provide a holistic partnership with our suppliers, encouraging them to support our work across the ESG / CSR spectrum.

Duties and responsibilities  

Business Development and Relationship Management 

• Act as main point of contact for existing corporate partners and stakeholders

• Build strong relationships through a stewardship programme to engage with partners in a variety of ways on a regular basis

• To provide the highest quality supporter care, working in partnership with the business to engage with its staff, maximising fundraising and retain support for the long term

• Support with engaging FareShare national partners where required

• Capture feedback from businesses to adapt our propositions

New Business

• Work closely with the Development Team to identify new business opportunities (including charity of the year partnerships) and to develop new relationships with stakeholders across Sussex and Surrey

• To research and approach companies to maximise fundraising opportunities,Develop and promote sponsorship opportunities and corporate partnership offerings

• Create engaging proposition presentations to approach new businesses engaging with them and s other such stakeholders regularly, hosting visits and attending meetings where necessary

Reporting and Monitoring

• Provide regular reporting for trustees and the Development Team

• To monitor and evaluate all aspects of the partnership, reporting on income and engagement.

About the opportunity

Fundraising is critical to delivering our mission and ensuring we can support as many children and young people facing disadvantage to open doors to their future.  The Philanthropy Team as a whole has a combined target income for the current year (2023-24) of £1.83 million (growing to £2.35m as our target for next year), of which approximately £850k is from corporate donors and their foundations, £100k is from individuals, and the remaining from trusts and foundations. We have been successful year on year in increasing our fundraising base by building secure multi-year partnerships.
 

We are looking for a Fundraising Manager to work within our passionate Philanthropy Team to help grow our fundraised income and develop and maintain an effective, high-quality funding pipeline. Focussing predominantly on eliciting funding from trusts and foundations, and working closely with the Head of Philanthropy, CEO and Corporate Partnerships Manager, the Fundraising Manager will ensure the effective management of existing funder relations and take responsibility for ensuring Action Tutoring meets its reporting obligations. The Fundraising Manager will be responsible for the line-management and development of three Fundraising Coordinators, through which you and your team will prepare and submit grant applications and funding reports, alongside overseeing the development and growth of our individual giving activities and initiatives, including through expansion of our fundraising events and campaigns.

Duties and responsibilities

· Work with the CEO, Head of Philanthropy and Corporate Partnerships Manager to ensure Action Tutoring’s fundraising targets are met and manage an effective pipeline across Action Tutoring’s different income streams.

· Work with  Fundraising Coordinator for Campaigns, Events and Individual Giving to build Action Tutoring’s income generated from individual giving, developing campaigns for driving more regular giving and building our strategies to cultivate, engage and thank individuals. 
 

· Act as a system manager for fundraising platforms, databases and tools including Just Giving and the Giving Block, with support from Fundraising Coordinators.
 

· Oversee the development of the fundraising area of the website and fundraising pack to attract new funders and fundraisers to the charity, with support from the Fundraising Coordinators.
 

· Manage the Fundraising Coordinators, ensuring they are growing and developing, and that work load is shared fairly. 
 

· Represent Action Tutoring at relevant meetings and events.
 

· Alongside your team, prepare applications for corporate funding opportunities identified by the Corporate Partnerships Team.

Person specification

This role requires an ambitious, passionate and determined individual with outstanding written and verbal communication skills. Alongside your team you will be responsible for writing and submitting grant applications and reports, so an excellent understanding of the English language and a keen eye for detail are crucial for success within this position. Working to deadlines and line-managing three Fundraising Coordinators, exceptional time-management, prioritisation and organisation skills are essential. With a focus on developing our individual giving strategies, we’re looking for an individual with excellent interpersonal skills. 
 

Qualifications criteria:

· A*-C in maths and English at GCSE (or equivalent experience).

Main purpose of the role

Reporting to the Fundraising Manager, this post will lead on the development and delivery of Thrive’s community and public fundraising whilst working collaboratively with the rest of fundraising team to maximise and develop opportunities over various income streams.

 The post holder will work with our local centres to develop fundraising opportunities and offerings that are appealing to the local community.

 Role Particulars

Working Pattern: Full time working hours, including weekly in-person team meetings in London: monthly all-staff meetings on Tuesdays twice a month, and weekly on Wednesdays twice a month.  The nature of this role means that some travel and working away from home will be required, as agreed in advance.  Specifically, the Head of Fundraising and Partnerships must be available for the annual leadership conference and some or all of the New Wine annual summer festival (on-site or remote support).

Supervision: The post holder will receive regular supervision from their line manager.

Doorstep Library is a community-focused literacy charity dedicated to bringing the magic of books and the joy of reading directly into the homes of children who need our support. We are looking for an experienced fundraiser to head up our fundraising and marketing teams.

With one in four 11-year-olds leaving primary school unable to read or write properly, we recruit and train home and online reading volunteers to go into disadvantaged areas of London to help introduce young children (aged 0-11 years) to the pleasure and benefits of reading.

JOB PURPOSE

ABOUT THE ROLE

We are looking for a Head of Fundraising to report to the Chief Executive Officer. The successful candidate will sit on the Senior Management Team, working closely with the CEO, Head of Operations and Head of Delivery and Engagement.

You will have substantial, proven experience of working in fundraising and of developing and sustaining partnerships, ideally in the third sector, and of how to build financial sustainability. MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES

Development and delivery of the charity’s fundraising strategy

· To work closely with the CEO and trustee board to lead on the development, planning and delivery the Doorstep Library’s fundraising strategy, with further development of a longer-term strategy;

· To manage and build upon the income streams for the charity;

· To take a lead on application bids, including managing, monitoring and evaluating all funding applications;

About the Role

There are 1.4 million primary-aged children growing up in poverty in the UK, and we are currently only working with a fraction of them. We have grown rapidly over the last few years and are now looking to recruit a Fundraising Manager who can help take our fundraising work to the next level.
