The Afghan Activities Coordinator will play a crucial role in supporting Project Manager and ensuring the successful project implementation and delivery of high quality activities for young Afghan refugees and their families. You will develop and maintain effective stakeholder relationships, find new partnerships and assist in develop projects plans.

Responsibilities:

Qualifications: Essential:

Role Overview: In this new role as Fundraising Manager, you will lead the development and implementation of our fundraising strategy and manage our fundraising portfolio. The purpose of your role

We are looking for a proactive policy and corporate affairs professional to join the Police Now team and play a key role in shaping understanding of our programmes, build support amongst stakeholders, and lead the conversation on police reform and culture change. 

Police Now’s mission is to transform communities, reduce crime and increase public confidence in policing.  You will be instrumental in identifying and offering great opportunities to showcase the best of Police Now's work with Ministers, officials, MPs, Peers, committees, All-Party Parliamentary Groups, and other policy stakeholders and influencers.  You will use your skills in advocacy and effective communication to increase awareness of and support for what we deliver, and be an effective partner to the Government demonstrating delivery of their 13,000 neighbourhood policing pledge and the difference good local policing makes to communities.

What you’ll do – the key responsibilities

•Establish yourself within Police Now as a source of expert political advice and guidance in handling sensitive issues and relationships, working to protect and enhance our reputation. 

•Be curious about police reform, be actively contributing on external thinking about this and ensure PN colleagues are kept abreast of key developments.

This role sits in the STAR Partnership which stands for Supporting Tenancies, Accommodation and Reconnections. We work in collaboration with Thames Reach, Stonewall Housing and Praxis, to support 4000 Londoners a year who are at risk of or experiencing homelessness, as well as working to improve Londoners’ ability to sustain a safe and secure home.

You will deliver high quality housing advice and advocacy in line with the hub’s local community priorities and the STAR Partnership framework and work with people who are experiencing homelessness and bad housing to identify issues facing local communities.  You will plan and deliver casework to individuals and communities to resolve their housing situation and engage with community groups, local organisations and individuals to understand local housing issues and raise awareness of people’s rights.

You will also work in local community settings and with community groups to deliver advice and rights awareness workshops and make sure that people with lived experience of homelessness have opportunities to share their story, give their opinions and participate in the design and delivery of Shelter services. Offering day to day support to volunteers, providing learning, shadowing and mentoring and being a consistent role model for our values are also key aspects of the role.

About you

You are able to listen to, engage and work with individuals and communities and with all stakeholders, including people with lived experience of homelessness. You will have experience, knowledge of and/or proven ability in housing and homelessness advice and advocacy and are able to progress to specialist level knowledge, as well as the ability to carry out casework related interviews, maintain detailed case records, advise and support clients to make informed decisions. A proven record of delivering group workshops and presentations is essential, as is a collaborative, flexible and professional approach to your work.

London Hub’s priorities are improving the practice of local authorities and Registered Social Landlords and focussing on households disproportionately affected by the housing emergency.

This is a new role at SIG, thus a great opportunity to join our team in supporting with and managing the delivery and implementation of our National Volunteering Strategy. This role plays a pivotal role in shaping and producing a strategy which empowers leaders across the organisation to actively recruit, engage and retain volunteers within their services. You will develop and implement a volunteering strategy which is fit for use, realistic and transferrable throughout the organisation, with a structured programme which ensures a positive volunteer experience. 

• Lead the co-creation of the organisation’s National Volunteering Strategy in collaboration with various internal and external stakeholders.
• Define clear goals, priorities, and success measures for volunteering across the organisation.
• Develop a clear roadmap for implementation of a volunteer strategy, ensuring alignment with the Group’s wider mission and values.
• Work collaboratively with various teams from operations, people and culture, marketing, finance, and other central teams to support the strategy.
• Design and implement a consistent volunteer recruitment, onboarding and induction process, and manage the sharing of information across the organisation.
• Create and manage volunteer hiring workflows, and ensure these are fit for purpose, and that they align with wider strategies, and system implementation.
• Consult and engage with managers on a regular basis to fully understand and identify volunteering needs across services and co-design a diverse range of volunteer roles that add value and reflect local priorities.

We are looking for a proactive individual with a passion for advocating volunteering opportunities and early careers. You will be dedicated to bring new opportunities and drive meaningful change. You will have experience in volunteer management, with the understanding of what it entails, what our obligations are, and the difference between employment and volunteers. You will be driven to have the opportunity to create a process which is new to the organisation, and be self driven to learn as you go, as well as share your personal experience and expertise with others.

• Proven experience in developing or managing volunteer programmes, including recruitment, engagement and retention strategies  
• Ability to design and implement strategies, with a clear understanding of how to align volunteering initiatives with organisational needs
• In depth understanding of volunteering programmes and the knowledge, skills and ability to create role profiles for volunteers
• Ability to build local networks and relationships locally and nationally, and utilise platforms available, including new ones to share opportunities available
• Ability to think creatively to improve processes
• Proactiveness and outgoing approach to work, ability to use initiative to resolve challenges
• Proven ability to juggle multiple tasks and competing priorities within a fast-paced environment
• Attention to detail and quality, with organisation skills

What's the role about?

You’ll be joining the RSPB England Education, Families and Youth team to support our regional partnerships with Girlguiding. In this role, you’ll contribute to the development and delivery of our key project outputs.

Key tasks:

• Design and deliver youth-focused nature engagement activities, including co-creating a nature and climate youth action toolkit and launching a Youth Nature Ambassador Network for members aged 10-18 to shape initiatives and lead their own projects.
• Design and deliver 'train the trainer' sessions to empower adult and young leaders in youth organisations, to embed nature and climate action into their core programming as well as driving the changes they are most passionate about.
• Coordinate and deliver project activities, ensuring timely, high-quality, and cost-effective outcomes. This includes managing volunteers, collaborating with partners, supporting budget monitoring, maintaining documentation, and helping embed project outcomes into long-term practice.
• Coordinate communications and stakeholder engagement, including facilitating meetings and creating briefings and materials to ensure effective communication and alignment throughout the project lifecycle.
• You will be supported in your role by the England Youth Partnerships team, with opportunities to meet virtually with staff and volunteers, so you feel part of a team and learn about the work of the RSPB and Girlguiding. An induction and relevant training will be provided as well as support to further develop the skills needed for this role.

Essential skills, knowledge and experience:

• Experience in designing and delivering youth engagement sessions, events, workshops, or facilitated discussions for young people, with a focus on fostering learning and development, encouraging collaboration and promoting meaningful participation and decision-making.
• Strong communication skills with both adults and young people, with the ability to convey project goals in a passionate, credible, and persuasive manner to a wide range of audiences.
• Strong time management and organisational skills, with a working knowledge of project management principles and the ability to coordinate tasks across teams and stakeholders.
• Experience in developing, collaborating and working within effective partnerships and project teams, engaging both internal and external stakeholders to achieve shared goals and deliver outcomes.
• Experience in compiling reports and analysing numerical data to monitor progress, evaluate impact, and inform decision-making.
• Experience in developing and delivering engaging training programmes for adults, particularly in a way that builds confidence and practical skills.

Desirable skills, knowledge and experience:

• Experience in managing staff and/or volunteers, including recruitment, supervision, and development, coordinating workloads, nurturing positive relationships, and fostering a collaborative and productive team environment to ensure effective contributions to project outcomes.
• A solid understanding of the natural world, environmental issues, and practical actions that support nature conservation.

Additional Information:

• An England role, flexible on working pattern and part of a remote team.
• The role holder will be a homeworker, ideally be based in or within easy travelling distance of the Girlguiding South West England region (Gloucestershire, Bristol, Dorset, Somerset, Berkshire, Hampshire, Wiltshire).
• Travel may be required between the regions where we have Girlguiding partnerships.
• You will need to be available to run training at weekends and/or evenings.
• This is a 12 month fixed-term role for 22.5 hours per week.
• The RSPB reserves the right to extend or make this role permanent without further advertising dependent on business needs at the end of the contract term.
