Surviving Economic Abuse (SEA) is the only UK charity dedicated to raising awareness of economic abuse and transforming responses to it.

Since our founding in 2017, we’ve proudly campaigned successfully for the recognition of economic abuse in UK law and influenced wide-ranging systemic change to transform responses to it. We're now entering an ambitious new phase, and we’re seeking a dynamic, strategic and values-led Head of Income as part of the Senior Leadership Teamto help drive it forward.

This is a critical time for SEA. With a bold three-year strategy now in place, we’re looking for an experienced income-generation leader to oversee and diversify our income streams — across high-net-worth giving, corporate partnerships, trusts and foundations, and earned income through consultancy and training. As a key member of the Senior Leadership Team, the Head of Income will play a vital role in shaping the future of the organisation and enabling us to scale our impact.

The Head of Income will lead a talented team, including our Senior Fundraising Manager (trusts and foundations) and Corporate Development Manager (strategic multi-stakeholder partnerships), and collaborate closely with our CEO, Trustees and earned income delivery teams (consultancy and training) whilst also being hands on in relationship development. Your approach will be collaborative, survivor-centred and driven by SEA’s values. We are particularly interested in hearing from candidates with strong experience in high-value fundraising and/or commercial income generation.

Finance Manager - 4 days per week - National

Reporting to the Head of Finance, you will be managing one Finance Assistant. Working closely with the Head of Finance overseeing all processes and controls that feed into management accounts preparation, you will also be business partnering with the Senior Leadership Team, and budget holders.

Key duties and responsibilities will include:

• Oversee day-to-day financial operations, working with Finance Assistant to ensure all financial transactions are recorded accurately.
• Lead the completion of month-end processes including preparation and posting of journals, balance sheet reconciliations including restricted fund reconciliations, and maintenance of control accounts.
• Assist the Head of Finance on drafting management accounts and cashflow
• Provide financial business partnering support to Senior Leadership Team and Managers as required.
• Collate and provide monthly payroll information to external payroll provider, reconciling payroll outputs to financial records.
• Support the Head of Finance in the preparation of year-end financial statements in line with the Charity SORP and statutory requirements.
• Act as the lead point of contact for the annual audit process, liaising with external auditors and preparing audit schedules and documentation as required.
• Act as a key contact for the charity's banking, payment platforms (Stripe, CAF, Paypal etc) and financial systems (Sage).
• Monitor bank accounts, oversee and authorise payment uploads, and ensure accurate reporting via banking platforms.
• Provide reconciliations for fundraising between CRM (Beacon) and Financial System (Sage).
• Lead and empower the Finance Assistant

• Qualified by Experience (QBE), a recognised CCAB qualification (ACA, ACCA, CIMA, CIPFA) or working towards a recognised Finance qualification
• Producing monthly or quarterly management accounts and providing suitable narrative as required
• Supporting or leading on aspects of the year-end processes and/ or the annual audit, including producing year-end schedules, accounts and liaising with the auditors

About the role

Sitting on Leeds Community Foundation’s senior leadership team, the Director of Philanthropy and Partnerships will develop a new income generation strategy, focusing on high-value, sustainable philanthropy, and a new proactive Communications strategy showcasing the Foundation as the go-to place for philanthropy in Leeds and Bradford.

Purpose of the job

Why the job exists and overall responsibility

• Income generation through a diverse range of sources including but not limited to corporate and community fundraising and grants and trust applications
• Delivery of marketing and communications across the charity
• Line management of an officer with responsibility for fundraising and communication activities

Main Activities

Income Generation:

• Build multi-year corporate relationships that generate income and gifts in-kind by creating and maintaining an active pipeline
• Identify and cultivate opportunities for new partnerships and funding streams
• Manage a portfolio of partners and fundraisers, ensuring effective communication and stewardship
• Prepare and submit funding applications and reports in a timely manner
• Collaborate with internal teams to ensure project delivery and reporting
• Ensure the CRM system is updated regularly to reflect activities and report to KPIs set by the Head of Income and Engagement

Marketing and Communications:

• Contribute to the creation and delivery of key marketing materials across multiple channels and audiences
• Maintain accurate records of activity and performance, generating regular performance reports
• Work collaboratively cross team to ensure delivery of all elements relating to projects and campaigns across the charity
• Develop audience approach content for social media and disseminate in a timely manner, supporting all teams marketing needs
• Responsibility for development and updates to websites across Fresh Futures
• Explore new marketing channels and build external marketing partnerships offering in-kind support
• Write press releases and deliver media interviews representing the charity, as directed by the Head of Income and Engagement

Line Management:

• Manage an officer working within the income and engagement team to effectively deliver all aspects of their role
• Work closely with Managers to ensure they are receiving the support they need from the Income and Engagement team
• Plan team delivery alongside the other Income and Engagement Manager to manage work allocation and delivery effectively within the team

Budgets:

• Assist the Head of Income and Engagement with the preparation of budgets
• Responsible for the management of specific project or campaign budgets,
• ensuring costs are always monitored and income targets are met (where appropriate)

Internal and external event delivery:

• Support delivery of internal events, to budget and in a timely manner, including
• liaison with suppliers, and attendees
• Build partnerships and attend external events to represent Fresh Futures and raise awareness of the charity

• Oversee event budgets as directed by the Head of Income and Engagement

Volunteer delivery:

• Design and deliver presentations to third-sector organisations, businesses, and universities to showcase and promote Fresh Futures
• Work with the leadership team in supporting Fresh Futures’ vision for the future and create appropriate volunteering opportunities to support the vision and strategy moving forward

Discrete project and campaign delivery:

• Manage key fundraising projects or campaigns in a timely manner
• Oversee budgets and meet income targets, where appropriate
• Manage junior staff members or temp workers to deliver projects or campaigns effectively and within the designated timescale
• Develop and deliver fundraising campaigns or projects using appropriate project management tools, including but not limited to the CRM system

Strategy:

• Support the Head of Income and Engagement and the SLT in developing the
• strategic direction for the Income and Engagement team
• Work within the team to delivery the Income and Engagement Strategy
• Manage junior members of the team to deliver key aspects of the strategy as identified to sit within their remit

Knowledge, training and experience required

• Experience working within the voluntary sector generating income and running fundraising campaigns
• Experience of Canva, CRM systems, social media scheduling platforms useful
• Knowledge of a range of fundraising approaches and marketing techniques
• Experience working with a range of external partners including from the commercial sector

We're looking for someone to be the regional representative for Crimestoppers in the Avon and Somerset area, with specific responsibility for;

• Creation and delivery of local/county/regionally specific crime-based campaigns in partnership with law enforcement agencies, local committees and volunteers.
• Coordination of cross border and national activity in support of ROCU’S, the NCA and other bodies such as the GLAA.
• Identifying and maximising funding opportunities for our charity including RM post, campaign activity, Fearless workers and for Business Development.
• Enabling volunteer committees to develop so they can operate effectively and achieve their full potential.
• Act as Crimestoppers spokesperson for the region covered, regarding media interviews.
