Job description

Are you a senior Philanthropy professional, well-versed in identifying and developing relationships with individuals to secure significant and ongoing support for charity? Are you a self-starter with the drive and organisational skills to manage a portfolio of donors, ensuring that they have access to inspirational experiences that bring them closer to Woodgreen?

We are looking for a Senior Philanthropy Manager who can help introduce and develop a Major Donor programme that aims to grow a base of committed supporters who have the ability to give substantial gifts to Woodgreen.

You will possess the professional and personal credibility and strategic thinking to significantly help us to grow our charity’s funding from philanthropic sources. With a strong track record in building sustainable relationships with philanthropists, you will have direct experience of successfully soliciting 5-figure gifts.

Our successful candidate will be comfortable managing communications with a diverse portfolio of prospects and enjoy collaborating with colleagues to produce high quality and engaging proposals that inspire philanthropists to donate.

This is a brand-new role, and you will join a team and organisation with big ambitions to expand our services and impact. You will work within a small but mighty team, with two Corporate Partnerships and one Trusts professional, reporting to the Head of Philanthropy and Partnerships.

If you are:

  • Experienced in securing 5 figure and above gifts from major donors, including both  existing and new sources.
  • Committed to providing donor-centric communications and experiences, delivering consistently high-quality stewardship that will deepen donors’ connection to our cause.
  • Have exceptional strategic, communication and influencing skills, able to present compelling ideas and proposals that lead to major donations.
  • Passionate about pets and our work to support them both through rehoming and in communities.

We would love to hear from you!

This is a full-time permanent position, working 37.5 hours per week on a hybrid basis with the expectation that our successful candidate will work from our Godmanchester site approximately 1 - 2 days a month or dependant on business need. The starting salary for this position will be £45,511 to £50,568 per annum depending on experience. This is complemented by;

  • 36 days annual leave per year (inclusive of bank holidays) rising by 1 day each year to 40 days after five years
  • Up to 8% employer pension contributions
  • Support towards healthcare costs (cashplan)
  • Free access to Headspace
  • Life assurance (4x salary)
  • 25% discount in our charity shop

To apply please submit a copy of your CV and a Covering Letter. We look forward to receiving your application!  Our first round of interviews will take place in early August 2025.

Please note that you will need to have existing Right to Work in the UK to apply for this opportunity as we are unable to provide visa sponsorship.

Woodgreen is committed to making our recruitment processes accessible to all and, as part of this, we are flexible in the ways we give and receive information. If you would like to apply using a different format, please contact the Recruitment Team and we will do our best to put any reasonable adjustments in place.

Early application is encouraged as this position may close sooner than the stated deadline if a suitable candidate is found.

Woodgreen is committed to safeguarding children and adults at risk and protecting anyone that comes into contact with us from harm. We expect all employees and volunteers to share this commitment.
