Key Responsibilities

As Senior Recruitment Officer, you will:

• Lead on recruitment for Tutors and Lead Tutors across subject areas and regions, ensuring recruitment targets are met
• Develop inclusive, innovative strategies to attract university students, graduates, career changers and other talent pools
• Design and deliver engaging tutor attraction campaigns, creating compelling content and managing social media outreach
• Plan and deliver recruitment events (e.g. webinars, careers fairs, university drop-ins), building strong external partnerships

• Coordinate and oversee internal assessment centres, interviews, and scheduling

We work for better oral health for all through a number of interconnected programmes including advocating at global conferences and meetings, local groundwork throughout 28 volunteer Chapters, designing and recommending better oral health policies for national governments through our Policy Labs and more.

We are looking for a freelance Director of Operations and Finance to work for an average of 4 days a week for a total of 180 days a year. They will be part of the senior leadership team alongside the Chief Strategy and Advocacy Officer and the Chair of the Board of Trustees.

Key Responsibilities

Leadership and Strategy

● Deliver our Operations and Finance KPIs as outlined in the Charity’s strategy; as well as being jointly responsible for the successful implementation of the full strategy.

● Lead and shape the Operations department, making sure it’s fit for purpose and maximising resources.

● Work collaboratively with senior management to maximise the success of the charity.

● Work closely and liaise regularly with the Chief Strategy & Advocacy Officer

● Work closely with the Chair of Trustees to ensure sound charity governance and compliance with HMRC and OSCR regulations.

● Ensure sound risk management strategies are in place.

● Manage the finance and operations input to grant bids and negotiation meetings.

● Liaise with external solicitors for advice to the Board.

● Project and logistics management, e.g for events and meetings

Finance

● Set and manage the charity’s annual budgets, supporting senior management in the process

● Report regularly on the charity’s finances, tracking the charity’s income, expenditure and reserves, and liaising with the Board of Trustees.

● Oversee the Charity’s bookkeeping and payroll; input journals as needed and closely monitor cashflow.

● Manage the end of year accounts and audit process, liaising with the external accountants.

Operations, IT and Data

● Manage the office and future office needs

● Manage the technology and data strategy, keeping staff tech secure and up to date, and acting as key liaison with third parties

● Be responsible for upholding our data privacy obligations. Work in partnership with senior management and charity lawyers to ensure GDPR obligations are followed, data security and use of data for internal and external reporting

● Oversee the efficient usage of our database, systems and key platforms (including Xero, Wordpress, Microsoft Office Suite) ensuring we are collecting and analysing relevant data in line with our goals to grow income and impact, ensuring proportionate resourcing and training

● Leadership of ad hoc Operations as required.

People Management

● If needed, oversee the recruitment of new staff, coordinating the process managing the staff journey including inductions, staff surveys, annual reviews, and exits.

● Oversee the communication with and distribution of work with freelancer and contractor staff.

● Maintain our policies and staff handbook, researching and writing/updating policies as required.

About you

Essential Criteria

● Must have a comprehensive knowledge of relevant systems, processes, policies, and procedures involved in the effective management of not-for-profit organisations.

● Demonstrable experience of financial management including, but not limited to, budget creation and reprofiling, forecasting, financial strategy, payments and invoicing, reconciling cashbook and bank accounts, VAT submission, and working with accountants on annual accounts.

● Requires possession of, or ability to quickly acquire specialist or professional knowledge of dental caries, and engagement in appropriate professional activities to keep knowledge base and skills up to date and develop them further.

About CoppaFeel!

CoppaFeel! are the UK’s only youth focused breast cancer awareness charity, and we’re on a mission to get every 18-24 year old checking their chest. We educate people on the signs of breast cancer and encourage them to check their chests monthly, so that if they notice something unusual they are empowered to contact their GP and advocate for themselves.

We do this because when diagnosed early, breast cancer treatments are more effective and survival rates are higher. Early detection can save lives.

Breast cancer does not need to be detected late, and as long as we are here and continue to be supported by people like you, we will do all we can to make sure this doesn’t continue to happen.

The Role

Following an exciting period of growth, CoppaFeel! is looking for a dedicated and enthusiastic Finance Officer to join our expanding team. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone looking to develop their career in charity finance and play a key role in supporting the smooth running of our financial operations.

You’ll be working closely with our Director of Finance and Senior Finance Manager to help manage CoppaFeel!’s day-to-day finances and contribute to a range of essential finance functions. As part of a newly developed finance team, you’ll have the chance to make a real impact as we shape our systems and processes to support our continued growth.

We’re looking for someone with experience working in a finance role, ideally within a small team or charity environment. You’ll need to be confident using accounting software (we use Xero), have strong Excel skills, and be comfortable working independently. Most importantly, you’ll be proactive, detail-oriented, and eager to contribute to the success of our mission.

This role can be full time of part time with a minimum of 26.25 hours per week.

This role sits within the Finance team and reports to the Senior Finance Manager. This is a hybrid role, with the expectation that you will attend the London office 2 days per week. You will be required to attend the office for quarterly team meetings, department meetings and in person training, we will provide plenty of notice for when you are required to be in for these purposes.

Duties & Responsibilities

Month end tasks

• Reconcile all bank accounts, fixed asset register, depreciation, payables and receivables
• Assist in the preparation of monthly management accounts
• Support the posting and review of month-end journals
• Assist in the preparation of weekly payment runs and reports
• Support the administration/checking of the pensions and employee benefits
• Maintaining accurate records restricted fund transactions

Quarterly tasks

• Prepare and submit basic VAT returns
• Assist with Gift Aid claims and ensure accurate donor Gift Aid records are maintained

Stakeholder

• Oversee and provide cover for the Finance Assistant, ensuring smooth processing of donations via fundraising platforms
• Collaborate with the CRM Officer and Fundraising Team to ensure accurate donation records
• Provide finance-related support and training to staff, including inductions and updates to finance policies

Procurement

• Oversee accounts receivable and accounts payable functions (including systems)
• Support creating, maintaining and checking procurement checklist in accordance to policy
• Supporting in value for money costings and basic ROI’s

Other tasks

• Support with the annual audit and annual report
• Work closely with the Operations Team and others on cross-organisational projects
• Undertake general administrative and ad-hoc finance tasks, including handling finance post, banking, event support, and processing physical Gift Aid/sponsorship forms
• Undertake any other reasonable duties or responsibilities as required by the Charity, in line with the needs of the organisation.

Skills, Experience and Qualifications

Essential

• Experience working in a small finance team with responsibility for a broad range of finance tasks
• Excellent numeracy skills, with strong verbal and written communication abilities
• Sound understanding of accounting principles, including debits and credits
• Proficient in Microsoft Office, with intermediate to advanced Excel skills (e.g. pivot tables, lookups, formulas)
• A proactive approach to problem-solving, aligned with the team’s strategic objectives
• High level of accuracy, attention to detail, and strong organisational skills
• A collaborative mindset with the ability to work effectively as part of a small team and provide support to colleagues

Desirable

• Experience of working within a charity or non for profit organisation
• Familiarity with Charity SORP
• Experience of working with Xero
• Understanding of full cost recovery

Can you help us to support new dads and dads-to-be?

We are recruiting a Dad Matters Coordinator to help us reach more families in Brent. This is a great opportunity for someone with parenting experience to support new dads at a critical time in their parenting journey.

The Dad Matters Coordinator will support dads with attachment and bonding, mental health and access to services. You will have the ability to work with professionals and healthcare services to ensure dads are engaged, supported and heard within clinical pathways. Additionally, you will help develop and run group sessions with dads and will be at the forefront of growing our volunteering opportunities.

No formal experience of healthcare, mental health services or children's services is required - you will just need the compassion and skills to enable dads to have those difficult conversations, and talk about how they’re really feeling.

Jigsaw4u’s Carers Peer Support Service supports adult carers in the London Borough of Merton through emotional support and access to information, opportunities and practical advice.

Working alongside other VCSE peer support providers in the Borough, other carer organisations or providers of statutory carers work, the post holder will work on improving pathways and coordinating services for adult carers experiencing mental health issues, often as a direct result of caring.  The post holder should have lived experience of being a carer, or of mental health challenges experienced by themselves or a close friend or family member

1. Purpose of the job

Be responsible in the designated area for:

• Delivery of one-to-one and group peer support sessions designed for and by adult carers

About the Youth Endowment Fund

We’re here to prevent children and young people becoming involved in violence. We do this by finding out what works and building a movement to put this knowledge into practice.

Last year, 244 people in England and Wales tragically died after being assaulted with a knife. Of these, 32 were children. Every child captured in these numbers is an important member of our community and society has a duty to protect them. Even when violence doesn’t strike directly, we know that the fear of violence has a terrible effect on children’s lives. One in 12 women will be a victim of violence against women and girls each year in England and Wales. Our Children, Violence and Vulnerability (CVV) research with teenage children showed that 33% of teenagers have encountered online content that encourages violence against women and girls.

The Youth Endowment Fund exists to try and permanently change things. To succeed, we must build an exceptional body of knowledge about violence affecting young people and how we reduce it. This knowledge has to be both rigorous and highly relevant to those making decisions about how to support vulnerable young people. We need to find out what works and what doesn’t through evidence synthesis, data analysis and qualitative research into children’s lives. We need to convert this into highly accessible content on what works, how delivery organisations need to change their practice and how the systems they operate in need to be reformed. We then need to work with the right people that can make change happen, across systems, policies and practice, to have a real impact on reducing violence affecting children’s lives.

Violence against Young Women and Girls

At the heart of our work is getting clear on what works. We are looking for someone who can lead our research and change agenda on violence against young women and girls (VAWG). We have built the foundations of this work by:

• developing our understanding of experiences of violence through our Children, Violence and Vulnerability (CVV) research with teenage children;
• reviewing evidence on the effectiveness of interventions that aim to prevent relationship violence and violence affecting young women and girls, which is summarised in our Toolkit; and
• ensuring a strong focus on VAWG prevention in our Education Systems Guidance and Education Practice Guidance, based on the evidence we have for relationship violence prevention delivery in education settings.  

There is still a lot to do. We need to fund new research to fill gaps in our understanding of what works. We need to turn this evidence into actionable recommendations and sustainable change that will keep children safe from violence.

Key Responsibilities

The Violence against Young Women and Girls Lead will lead the VAWG research and change agenda for YEF. 

You will:

Be the YEF’s expert on VAWG

• Making sure we understand the key issues, stay on top of the latest research and are connected to the right people.

Lead YEF’s research agenda on VAWG

• Commissioning research that fills important gaps in knowledge and leads to important changes in policy and practice.

Develop evidence-based recommendations on the prevention of VAWG.

• Drawing on research and expert insight to produce recommendations for systems and practice guidance, across the seven essential sectors that we work with: children’s services, education, health, neighbourhoods, policing, youth services, and youth justice.
• Writing and publishing evidence briefings and recommendations for policy makers and system leaders about how to prevent VAWG.
• Working across YEF teams to ensure that YEF recommendations on VAWG are incorporated across our evidence and change products, including systems, sector and practice guidance, the Toolkit and implementation resources.

Develop and lead a change strategy.

• Developing great relationships with senior leaders, policymakers, commissioners, and key stakeholders connected to VAWG across England and Wales.
• Generating a strong understanding of key issues and needs across systems and sectors and building credibility and trust in YEF’s evidence products and recommendations.
• Creating practical tools and resources that help leaders put evidence into action.
• Developing, managing and tracking your change plan to get more senior leaders to be aware of and use our guidance, tools and resources, continuously looking for data-driven improvements.
• Delivering events and presentations to effectively connect people with the evidence.

An exciting opportunity has arisen to work on World Cancer Research Fund International’s Global Cancer Update Programme (CUP Global). CUP Global (previously known as CUP) is a unique, long-standing, and rigorous research programme that systematically gathers, analyses, and judges the strength of the global evidence on how diet, nutrition, physical activity and body weight affect cancer risk and survival. This work led to the publication of the authoritative Third Expert Report in 2018, which now needs updating in places to remain relevant and impactful. 

As Senior Research Interpretation Officer, you will be a valuable member of the Research Interpretation team and the CUP Global scientific Secretariat. Your core work will be supporting the management of CUP Global on a day-to-day basis to help deliver its main objective of updating the Third Expert Report. You will provide scientific input, administrative support, and help coordinate specific work areas of CUP Global.

We are looking to recruit someone who has a Masters degree in public health sciences, particularly nutrition and/or cancer research, and with a good understanding of epidemiological concepts. We are seeking someone with experience of writing scientifically, copywriting, editing and proofreading, with good attention to detail and with experience of reviewing and interpreting scientific research/literature. As a Feminist Climate Justice Policy Campaigner you will make connections with policy makers, government departments, NGOs and influencers, bringing an intersectional feminist lens to these spaces. You will need to keep up to speed with UK climate policies and how these impact women. 

Wen works at the grassroots and policy level ensuring that grassroots perspectives are part of and shape climate policy making so a key part of the role will be linking these two levels.  You will work closely with our Climate Sisters  programme and the Tower Hamlets Food Partnership which inform our Feminist Green New Deal policy asks and campaigns, advocating for inclusive climate policy rooted in the priorities of women,  particularly racialised and marginalised groups.  We are looking to recruit a policy campaigner with in-depth  knowledge of the policy systems and strategic thinking about how to advocate for feminist climate justice at local, regional and national level in the UK working in collaboration with others.

JOB DESCRIPTION

Key responsibilities:

• Bring an intersectional feminist climate justice lens to policy makers and debates with a focus on climate, health, food justice and environmental policies

• Work collaboratively with Wen’s Climate Sisters team to make strong connections between the grassroots and policy, drafting and devising policy responses to influence government climate policy

• Develop strategic partnerships and relationships with MPs, government departments, All Party Parliamentary Groups (APPGs), Ministers, Select Committees and key organisations in this field

• Submit evidence to Select Committee reports, inquiries and input into draft bills

• Actively engage with civil society movements around climate justice and policy

• Produce a variety of resources on the issues such as policy briefings, blogs, social media posts and talks

• Campaign on relevant policy debates on social media and other media working with the Wen comms team and influencers to communicate the issues to a wide range of audiences

• Identify, monitor, and evaluate policy issues appropriate to Wen 

• Travel and attend related policy work meetings, events and workshops as agreed 

Wen specific tasks

• Carry out all tasks in accordance with Wen’s Equal Opportunities Policy. 

• Work closely with Wen's campaigns and projects to further Feminist Climate Justice work.

• Ensure all monitoring and evaluation is completed for funders and for internal Wen purposes.  

• Ensure active promotion of an intersectional feminist approach in the campaign and contribute to this goal within Wen. 

• Share in general duties at Wen as necessary.

• Ability to understand and advocate for feminist climate justice in relation to climate policy and communicate this persuasively to decision makers and a wide range of audiences

• Ability to develop and implement advocacy and campaigning strategies, working collaboratively with others.

• Ability to build and maintain relationships with a wide diversity of external individuals, representatives, groups and bodies, including government, in order to deliver Wen’s objectives.

• Ability to research and write policy briefings and blogs with an intersectional feminist climate justice lens

• Advocating and understanding of the issues faced by marginalised and racialised women and communities in relation to environmental and climate policy

• Ability to identify and develop common ground with a diverse group of organisations and individuals working with a movement-focused approach

• Deal with correspondence, media and general enquiries and information requests as required. 

PERSON SPECIFICATION

Essential 

Education and qualifications:

• Degree level qualification or equivalent work experience

Experience, Skills and Knowledge:

• At least two years direct experience of policy, advocacy and campaigning on climate and social justice

• Experience of drafting policy briefs, blogs and social media engagement

• Extensive knowledge and understanding of intersectional feminist approaches to climate justice

• Experience of building effective collaborative relationships with a diverse range of stakeholders 

• Excellent written and oral communications skills; the ability to disseminate information to a wide range of audiences and across platforms 

• Self-motivated and able to work proactively, independently and flexibly 

• Experience of monitoring and evaluation and reporting to funders 

• Experience of taking an inclusive, intersectional approach in your work 

• Commitment to gender, racial and social justice through previous work or volunteering or lived experience.

• Fluency in spoken and written English.

Desirable

• Experience of working in women’s, environmental or charitable organisations or groups
