About the Role

We are looking for an Operations Manager who is prayerful, strategic and passionate about practically supporting the mission of the local church. The Operations Manager plays a key role as a senior member of the Inspire St James team. The purpose of this role is to enable the Church to fulfil its vision for mission, ministry and worship through strategic oversight and management of all aspects of the Church’s operations e.g. staff, finance, premises, and governance.

Inspire Saint James Clerkenwell is a Church of England church with two services (11am and 4pm) and a congregation of around 230 adults and 100 children. The congregation is vibrant and diverse and passionate about sharing the good news of Jesus. 

The Operations Manager has overall responsibility for the Operations Team and will work closely with all members of the team. They will also be part of the wider staff team in which we pray for one another and support one another to achieve our purpose and lead our ministries.

We are looking for a Finance Manager to join the Finance team for a 13-month fixed term contract to cover maternity leave.

Brief role description:

The Job

Reporting initially to the COO, the Finance Manager will lead all day‑to‑day financial operations and provide expert financial advice across the organisation. The role covers monthly and quarterly management accounts, budgeting, forecasting, cash flow oversight and ensuring compliance with Charity SORP and statutory requirements.

You will manage and develop the Finance Officer, coordinate the annual audit, support the preparation of statutory accounts, oversee grant‑related financial processes and maintain key relationships with outsourced partners including payroll, pensions, audit, banking and investment providers.

The Person

The successful candidate will be a fully qualified accountant with strong technical reporting skills and solid knowledge of Charity SORP. You will have excellent communication skills and the ability to explain financial information clearly to colleagues and trustees. Highly organised, analytical and proactive, you will demonstrate strong attention to detail and a collaborative approach. Experience with SAGE 50 is helpful but not essential. Responsibilities

· Assess and process all bursary applications, including Slater Scholarships, Worcester, Hanway and Green Skills bursaries against clearly defined eligibility criteria

· Authorise the award of financial bursaries and approve beneficiary claims and expenses

· Maximise the use bursary funding and ensure successful outcomes for beneficiaries

· Identify new bursary funding opportunities and devise bids in collaboration with the fundraising team

Crisis is the national charity for people experiencing homelessness. We have embarked on our 10-year strategy for ending homelessness. We know it is not inevitable. We know together we can end it.

Location: While not required to be based in London, this role does require a regular presence in our London office and pan London sites, with a minimum of one day per week onsite. Home working is available in line with Crisis’ Hybrid Working Policy. Occasional travel may also be required to other locations across Crisis.

Roles: We are currently recruiting for two permanent vacancies.

About the role

Crisis is recruiting 2 x People Advisors to collaborate with a variety of Directorates including Client Services, Commerce and Enterprise, People and Resources, and Policy and Social Change. The roles will work closely with other People Team colleagues to enable the People and Culture function to boldly deliver an excellent service to Crisis’s managers and people.

These are varied and exciting roles, with a primary focus on managing employee relations caseloads, alongside opportunities to contribute to People and Culture policies, wellbeing initiatives and project work to make a positive impact across the directorates you support.

As a People Advisor, you will be given autonomy to apply your expertise in employee relations, engagement, and people policy to provide customer focussed, pragmatic, and credible advice to managers ensuring equitable practices throughout as priority. These are fantastic opportunities in a supportive and friendly team!

About you

To be successful in these roles you will have experience of advising on a range of employment areas. You will be able to demonstrate how you’ve advised and supported managers through, sometimes complex ER issues, to reach a resolution. You will be confident in your knowledge, ability and interpretation of employment law and best practice, and comfortable building relationships with colleagues, to provide appropriate challenge. You will be interested in shaping People and Culture policy and implementing modern practices.

It would be desirable for one of the roles if you have experience of providing People (HR) support in a charity retail environment with the ability to travel and meet with our managers on site across our London shops and warehouse. Both roles will support some of our client services across the UK so occasional travel to some of our regional locations would be required to support the leadership teams on site.

About the role:

This Best Companies Top 100 mid-sized company and Top 20 charity is looking to appoint a Family Support Manager to deliver a high-quality family support service as part of our London & South East Care Team.

Reporting to the Head of Care out of our London base and working in partnership with health, education and social care professionals, you will take responsibility for delivering a high-quality family support service; and will act as the local Registered Manager for the Care Quality Commission, providing management and leadership to the team in relation to all safeguarding issues.

About the team

Our Property and Facilities team is responsible for ensuring Shelter’s estate is fit for purpose and fully compliant for its staff, volunteers and clients. We provide a full range of professional services, including acquisitions, disposals, rent and lease negotiations, rating, estates management, building surveying, strategic planning, budgeting, compliance, health & safety and facilities management. We also support all office and shop relocations, refurbishments and planned maintenance projects, while our portfolio comprises one freehold head office property in London, 24 leasehold offices and around 90 leasehold shops across England and Scotland.

About the role

You will be responsible for all property related matters across Scotland and England for our diverse portfolio. That will involve making regular site visits, with occasional overnight stays. As well as ensuring all lease events are managed and actioned and properties are safe, maintained and fully compliant, we’ll also rely on you to assist with the development and implementation of robust policies, processes and systems to help manage the estate in an efficient and cost-effective manner. In short, it’s an incredibly varied role that will see you make a real difference in how Shelter’s commercial estate is managed.

Role Specifics

You’ll need a degree level qualification in a surveying/property related discipline and full RICS membership. You’ll also need a good understanding of the planning process and building regulations approval system. The confidence to lead and manage multiple projects effectively and ensure they’re delivered on time and on budget, from inception to completion, is important too. Self-motivated, capable of working both unsupervised and as part of a team, and with a positive ‘can do’ attitude, providing solutions, giving sound property advice and negotiating effectively with a variety of key stakeholders comes naturally to you. What’s more, you have good computer literacy skills and are comfortable working with spreadsheets and data.

We are seeking to appoint a Compliance Officer for an immediate start. Reporting to the school's in-house Legal Advisor, you will ensure the school operates in full compliance with all statutory, regulatory, and internal policy requirements, promoting a culture of compliance across all areas of school activity.

This role is initially offered on a one-year fixed-term contract working term-time, plus INSET days and a further three weeks during the school holidays (38 weeks). The role also has part-time support provided by the Compliance Administrator.

Salary circa £63,000 per annum, depending on experience. This is based on a full-time equivalent annual salary of £75,000.
