About the team:

Kinship is in the third year of delivering the first national peer support service for kinship carers in England. We have created 145 peer support groups and supported and trained kinship carers to create and lead their groups in a way which meets their needs.

With a new contract from the Department for Education, we’re now entering a new phase of our service with a focus on:

• creating 90 new sustainable peer support groups in areas of most need over 21 months;

• sustaining and developing the current 145 existing groups; and

• providing support and help to build a sustainable and welcoming community for all peer support groups across England.

This role will coordinate the ‘hub’ resources and content with a focus on supporting sustainability and building resilience of peer support groups and their leaders.  Specifically, this role will manage an ‘online hub’ for support group leaders and provide an excellent ‘customer experience’ for all support group leaders. You will support the hub innovation.

Together with the Peer Support Hub Lead you’ll take a human centred approach to working with group leaders to develop a central hub of accessible and useful resources and activities (for in person and online).  You’ll build good relationships with support group leaders, building in their insight to develop resources and activities that will support them in their role.

You’ll help kinship carers to sustain their groups, working with colleagues across Kinship to promote consistent access to services and activities (training, programmes, information, advice and campaigns), ensuring a joined-up user experience.

About the role:

The role of the Peer Hub Coordinator will provide operational delivery of the Peer Support Hub. With excellent marketing, communication and digital skills this role will work with the Peer Support Hub Lead to develop an ‘in person’ and online peer support community.

 In this context, your role supports the centralised ‘hub’ of the service, delivering an exciting programme of training, speakers, toolkits and resources to help peer support group leaders develop, build and sustain their group well. This will be building on and innovating the current Support Group Network.

 Your role will support group leaders to feel connected and supported, learn from each other and build a powerful and resilient peer community.

The type of person we're looking for:

Super organised, you are someone who uses their initiative, anticipates challenges and proactively provides seamless solutions. 

You’ll be comfortable with using digital technology and tools to build communities and develop resources. You’ll be curious about digital community tools, and you’ll want to work closely with our digital and content team to develop an amazing online experience.

You’ll also be a people person – understanding how building ‘in person’ relationships is key to unlocking community power for kinship carers.

You’ll be the right-hand person to the Peer Support Hub Lead making sure we deliver a really brilliant experience.

Key responsibilities include:

• Operational delivery, innovation and management of a dedicated online and in-person peer support ‘hub’.

• Building direct and positive relationships with support group leaders.

• Roll out mechanisms and tools to support groups to remain sustainable including but not limited to; informal buddy matches, online hub for support group leaders, monthly e-news, monthly speakers, themed specialist training (like setting up a safe Facebook group / promoting your group) and celebration events.

• Facilitation of regional network meetings.

Essential requirements include:

• Experience of developing jargon-free content for different audiences and channels.

• Experience of providing project support, delivering plans on time and evaluating outcomes.

• Experience of stakeholder communications and building relationships with stakeholders (e.g. beneficiaries and partners).

Your national team of three will make sure groups feel connected and supported, learn from each other and build a powerful and resilient peer community.

The type of person we’re looking for:

Dynamic and people-centred, this role is about developing a supportive community of peer support groups nationally. You’ll understand the power of relationships and be an excellent communicator. You’ll understand how communities hold their own power and your team will help unlock that. Innovation is key to the success of the Hub and you’ll ensure you’re using best practice and learning to develop it.

An excellent communicator, you’ll develop external partnerships to support group sustainability. You’ll ensure through the National Peer Support Connector role that peer communities are connected and engaging with the new National Kinship Care Ambassador.

You’ll be comfortable with using digital technology and tools to build communities and develop resources.

Key responsibilities include:

• Ongoing innovation of the Hub service, embedding best practice, digital innovation and learning to develop a thriving peer community.

• Develop, deliver and take accountability including strategic oversight for an annual operational plan for the peer support hub.

• Work with Head of Marketing to develop an integrated promotional plan.

• Work with Head of Network Development to coordinate national partnerships.

Essential requirements include:

• Experience in delivering a high-profile national service or programme. This includes overseeing delivery, operational planning, monitoring, budgeting, managing delivery, meeting KPIs, stakeholder engagement and reporting to funders.

• Experience of effective budget management.

• Experience working in a role focused on one or more of the following areas; communications (including digital communications) or marketing.

• Significant experience of developing and delivering successful community engagement strategies.

About the Project

• Hertfordshire Mind Network is proud to provide early intervention support to children and young people experiencing poor mental health across Hertfordshire. We provide a combination of support through psychoeducational workshops, open access, 1:1 and group support.
• We are expanding our provision, to offer drop in, open access community support to 10–18-year-olds across the county who need someone to talk to about their mental health in that moment. This space will offer timely support, in a person-centred, trauma informed way.
• The objectives of Hertfordshire Mind Network’s Herts Haven Café service are:
• To improve the mental wellbeing of children and young people experiencing mental health issues, including crisis presentations, in Hertfordshire.
• To provide drop in, no referral required, timely support to 10-18 year olds.
• To support children and young people in Hertfordshire to access community based mental health help.
• To increase early access to help for people experiencing mental health crisis in Hertfordshire, by providing a clear and effective pathway to services provided across the CYP MHS system.

About the Role:

The key purpose of this post is to be an integral member of staff delivering the Herts Haven Café service, facilitating drop-in mental health support for children and young people aged 10-18. As a practitioner you will meet the varying needs of the individual, as they present, meaning no day may look the same.

A person-centred approach will be maintained, and this role is pivotal to ensuring CYP have a warm and welcoming space to turn to. You will be working as a team to facilitate support, deliver brief mental health interventions, signposting, and ensure timely information, guidance and referrals are provided for ongoing support.

Key Responsibilities

• To play an integral role in instilling HMN’s values throughout the Herts Haven Cafe Service.
• To play a key part in the development and delivery of quality CYP mental health support services.
• To provide consistent and clear communication to the team, working proactively and with initiative.
• To be part of a cooperative and collaborative team that is flexible and adaptable to changing requirements.
• To deliver 1:1 and group interventions, depending on need, flexibly and creatively.
• To ensure that every individual accessing the service receives, safe and trusted support.
• To create and review risk assessments, wellness plans, crisis support plans, safety plans, as well as signposting resources, as required.
• To proactively recognise indicators of deteriorating mental health and facilitate appropriate action, whilst liaising with relevant agencies e.g., C-CATT, Emergency Duty Teams, CYP MHS, etc.
• To work alongside Crisis Teams in line with joint protocols, where required, to support those individuals experiencing a mental health crisis.
• To signpost and refer effectively into other Herts Mind Network services, as well as alternative VCFSE and statutory organisations.

Development and Volunteer Coordinator Lead

Job Type: Fixed Term Contract (Initial 12 month Contract until March 2025 with the possibility of extension)

The Role

This is a new and exciting role based in Lewisham for a Development and Volunteer coordinator lead. The role entails managing a team of volunteers and Peer mentors to deliver a service to Lewisham residents who are experiencing Drug and/or alcohol use and support Peer mentors to distribute Naloxone to the local community.

They are looking for an innovative and creative person to develop and implement a buddying system and a telephone helpline which will be staffed by a team of volunteers.

They are based in Forest Hill SE23 which is 20 mins from London Bridge mainline station. The contract is for one year (with the possibility of an extension) and they welcome applicants who have lived experience of drugs, alcohol, homelessness or mental health challenges. The role is for 37 hours per week but they are willing to consider part time applicants or a job share.

Skills and Qualifications

· Experienced working in a lead or supervisory role would be beneficial.

· Experience working with IT packages such as Microsoft word and excel.

· Be able to undertake basic administrative tasks.

· Great communication skills are essential.

· Be able to have an empathetic approach when dealing with service users.

About this job

Please note this is a fixed term contract for 9 months.

In this role you will provide administrative support to the Volunteering and Community Networks Department and Head of Volunteering and Community Networks.

You’ll be proactive and highly motivated. Attention to detail is essential as is the ability to plan and manage a busy and varied workload to provide support on various tasks.

You will contribute to the smooth running of the department through managing diaries, booking meetings and being responsible for departmental invoice processing.

As a part of the Volunteer Support Admin Team you will provide high quality support to our Community Networks volunteers based across the UK.

You will ensure that all volunteer enquiries are resolved promptly, that information provided to volunteers is aligned to our organisational positions and standards that relevant information is recorded and appropriate follow-up actions are completed.

Your insight will help inform our wider Community Networks team on volunteer priorities and issues.

This is a new role created to assist the small but growing team at SKT with our primary goal of engaging and mobilising residents in the neighbourhood we serve, numbering around 7500 people. SKT will assume management of community and event spaces at the heart of the neighbourhood this year and we are preparing service providers to make room for community voice in shaping local services. Involving residents in shaping their future is central to our purpose, whether by ensuring local assets and amenities work for them, or by influencing service delivery. This makes the Community Engagement Coordinator role an exciting and important addition to the team.

Main Tasks: 

Volunteer Recruitment, Training and Coordination  

• Recruit and maintain a team of twenty active volunteers from the local community to assist in community building initiatives.

• Develop and deliver a volunteer programme to engage the South Kilburn community which will likely include, but not limited to: 

• Community research and consultation 

• Public space improvements (greening, activation etc)

• Promoting community cohesion through events 

• Train volunteers in peer-engagement and consultation practice, 

• Induct and supervise skilled volunteers, as necessary. 

Community Cohesion and Wellbeing 

• Encourage and inspire volunteers to work as a team, take ownership of each activity, and to celebrate collective successes,

• Involve volunteers in planning and delivering community projects and events. 

Resident Voice 

•  Collaborate with the Community Engagement, Partnership and Marketing Manager to develop and deliver a consultation plan to better understand residents’ needs and priorities,

• Conduct outreach in the community with trained volunteers, including door-to-door canvassing, satisfaction surveys, pop-up stalls etc.

• Collect and systematically analyse information gathered through outreach and community consultation.

Widening Participation 

• Increase rates of community participation, belonging and pride across all segments of the community in South Kilburn. 

• Use creative methods to increase engagement with decision making from all sections of our diverse community.

• Contribute to a new system of representative community governance, enabling the resident body to speak with one voice,

• With partners, support the coordination of community events in South Kilburn.

Empowerment and Progression 

• Maintain continued awareness of local opportunities and train volunteers to disseminate accurate information and signposting, 

• Seek opportunities for volunteer progression including supporting those looking to do so in to work and work-placements with local businesses.

Partnerships and information sharing 

• Maintain relationships with a wide range of stakeholders including partner charities, volunteers, Brent Council officers and community members, 

• Work with the Communications and Engagement officer to disseminate useful information to residents. 

 Other 

• Be an ambassador for SKT and ensure our values of joy, collaboration and inclusion are upheld by the volunteer team. 

• Be responsible for organising team building days and social events for SKT staff, volunteers, and Trustees. 

• As we are a small but growing team, the Community Coordinator is expected to participate in team actions, mobilising through outreach and events to increase our collective impact for the community.

Betknowmore UK is proud to introduce 'Your Voice Matters,' our latest project aimed at addressing the unique challenges of gambling harms within London's Black community. With a focus on removing barriers and reducing stigma surrounding seeking support, our strategy empowers individuals, communities, and faith leaders.

We are looking for an experienced Project Coordinator to join our team and lead the implementation of 'Your Voice Matters.' Collaborating closely with our Director of Support Services and fellow Betknowmore colleagues, you will oversee the delivery of workshops, facilitate focus groups, and participate in community engagement events. Supported by our partnership with The Faiths Forum for London, you will play a pivotal role in fostering relationships within the Black community to maximize the project's impact over the next two years.

This position is primarily home-based, with regular travel across Greater London as required. The role is full-time, offering a competitive salary between £33,000 - £35,000 per annum, dependent on experience and qualifications. Additional benefits include a pension scheme and generous work/life balance. This is a fixed-term appointment for a period of two years, subject to satisfactory role performance.

Reporting to: Croydon Health and Wellbeing Space Manager

Location: Croydon Health and Wellbeing Space (CHWS), Whitgift Centre, North End, Croydon CR0 1LP (additional locations may be identified in the future)

Purpose of the role:

Croydon Health & Wellbeing Space (CHWS) is an exciting and dynamic service, run in partnership with Mind in Croydon and Croydon BME Forum and commissioned by South London and Maudsley Mental Health Service (SLaM). The CHWS opened in 2022 with the aim of providing advice, information, and specialist support to Croydon residents with mental health concerns, who drop-in, or have been referred to the via the local Integrated Care Network Plus multi-disciplinary clinical and community mental health support teams.

The Advice Worker will be part of a friendly team, including support workers, crisis workers and clinical mental health professionals and function as the first point of access for visitors to the CHWS. Following an initial conversation to ascertain the clients’ needs, the Advice Worker will provide information and advice, as well as signposting and referrals to specialist services, such as the Mental Health Personal Independence Co-ordinators, Social Prescribers and Community Link Workers, in addition to the wider voluntary and statutory services in the borough. The role will be fast paced and vary each day offering a fantastic opportunity for the postholder to develop their knowledge and skills and make a difference to the users of this service.
