The team this role is part of facilitates peer-to-peer learning and involves ISEAL Community Members in digital innovation projects that strengthen a range of processes and unlock new value in sustainability systems.

The coordinator will be part of this journey of peer-to-peer learning, pilot testing, and discovery. The role will collaborate with different ISEAL teams and be in contact with ISEAL Community Members and their partners, making this an excellent opportunity to learn about a wide range of initiatives.

The key responsibilities we entrust you with

Member engagement and Community of Practice

• The Community of Practice is a group of data practitioners from ISEAL community member organisations, who come together to share learning, discuss issues and trends and look at potential innovation based on data and technology.
• Act as the main point of contact for the Data Community of Practice (CoP), scheduling meetings and managing communications on the ISEAL online platform
• Establish and build relationships with Community Members’ data practitioners to understand their current capacities and identify priority topics for cross-learning related to data
• Support in planning outreach to Community Members, using tools such as Salesforce to track participation and identify opportunities to increase engagement in the Data CoP
• Facilitate Community Members’ understanding and self-assessment of relevant data maturity themes and topics
• Support in the design, content development and facilitation of engagement opportunities that feature Member exchange and learning about data
• Support the planning, delivery, and follow-up of Data CoP events

Project support

• Coordinate project processes, including implementing procurement procedures, drafting contracts with consultants (based on ISEAL templates) and maintaining project-related systems
• Support drafting and production of relevant newsletters, website articles, and report sections
• Proof-read, edit, design, and format documents in Word and Powerpoint, using ISEAL templates
• Contribute to outreach to project stakeholders, Community Members, partners & event attendees, answering and directing queries and scheduling appointments and virtual/ in-person meetings
• Organise meeting logistics and delivery of virtual, hybrid, and in person meetings, agenda preparation, notetaking, audio recording and tracking / implementation of follow up actions
• Provide technical support during Zoom and Microsoft Teams meetings, operate other engagement tools (e.g. EasyRetro, Miro, Jamboard, etc), and facilitate break-out rooms
• Carry out background research, review documents, and gather and analyse information on digital innovations, using templates and tools such as Excel
• Attend conferences and learning events and share relevant learnings internally
• Build understanding of Community Members' and external stakeholders’ data needs and capabilities.

Information management

• Maintain resources and web pages related to data governance and information management on the ISEAL online platform
• Facilitate peer exchange and knowledge sharing on priority topics through online platform
• Manage a GitHub repository

General

• Assist and participate in discussions related to the data and information management programme
• Assist in promoting best practice in use of IT, communications and knowledge management systems

Essential attributes, skills & knowledge

• Experience working in a project support role or data-related role focused on project administration, data and information management, data analysis, and/or stakeholder engagement
• Experience and comfort working with data and digital related subject matter, possibly gained through research, project communications and/or analysis and review of data sets
• Strong organisational skills, and experience with administration, meeting coordination, logistics contracts, budget tracking, etc.
• Good communication skills for partner and external communication and comfortable providing facilitation support (e.g. webinars, workshops etc)
• Good time management and ability to organise multiple simultaneous tasks efficiently with precision and strong attention to detail
• Ability to communicate and work effectively with cross-functional teams in a fully remote, international environment, including regular international time-zone calls
• Ability to thrive in a dynamic work environment with changing projects and working with multiple project leads
• Excellent written and spoken English
• Confidence in using the Microsoft Office suite and IT systems, familiarity with virtual meeting tools (e.g. MS Teams, Zoom, etc), use of contact management databases (e.g. Salesforce)

Job purpose:

As a key member of Saferworld's senior leadership team, the Director of Finance and Operations will be instrumental in helping to shape the organisation's strategic direction. The role will strive to ensure financial sustainability, and the embedding of a business partnering approach to achieve Saferworld’s mission. Person specification

Knowledge, qualifications and experience

• Accountancy qualifications, preferably CIMA, ACA and ACCA, and a clear understanding of Charity Fund accounting (SORP 2008 and the Charities Act 2003)
• Extensive experience in financial management and interdepartmental budgeting in a senior leadership position in an international organisation (preferable and international charity/non-for-profit).
• In-depth understanding of the complexity of overseeing and managing finances in an international context, particularly in contexts of conflict and/or war, including complexities of banking, tax, cash-flow management, exchange rate fluctuations and impact on budgets and forecasts, financial reporting, legal compliance, and transferring of funds to civil society and community-based organisation within different contexts, including conflict-affected areas.
• Senior leadership experience within the charity/not-for-profit sector and an understanding of costing funding bids and ensuring financial reporting systems meet funder requirements
• Experience of engaging and working with diverse funding streams including institutional donors, commercial contracts and Trust and Foundations and multiple currencies and geographic jurisdictions,
• Experience of working with a business partnering approach to achieve with others joint goals.
• An understanding and experience of project management delivery across an organisation, including an ability and willingness to undertake 'hands-on' tasks, such as preparing budgets, cash flows and other financial planning, management and control processes if required
• Operational experience in overseeing and supporting IT systems, especially in financial systems development – experience with the SUN system is especially desirable

General Information

Big Local Works (BLW) is a community-focused economic inclusion charity based in Bermondsey, South East London. We want to help create a thriving, inclusive local economy and community in which everyone can participate.

To make this happen, we maximise local people’s financial and economic wellbeing to reduce poverty and hardship, and give them support to find sustainable, active routes out of poverty, including through employment and enterprise.

We deliver our support in the community through three main services:

• Expert welfare and benefits advice and advocacy for local people experiencing poverty and hardship
• Employability Skills training and coaching to help people access ways of increasing their earned income
• Start-up and enterprise support for clients who wish to start trading on the local ‘Blue Market’

People Powered Regeneration

As well as continuing to offer an ever-wider range of individual support, we now have a strategic vision to create a ‘people-powered regeneration’ in an area already undergoing massive redevelopment by property developers.

In July 2019, a community campaign was successful in securing £2m funding from the GLA for the ‘Made in Bermondsey’ regeneration project centred on making key improvements to the local market place, the Blue Market in South Bermondsey.

Final works were completed in July 2022 and the market now has a first-class infrastructure for traders, local residents and visitors to use and enjoy the Blue Market place. The market also showcases a vision of a better future for the local area: a more prosperous, resilient and connected local community where people come together to trade, socialise, and celebrate across the diverse boundaries. We need to pay special attention to BAME, and recent migrant, communities who have begun to settle in Bermondsey after many years of exclusion.

Through our work, we seek to empower local people, encourage enterprise and community activity, and support the regeneration of an area that has long suffered from the effects of deprivation. Most recently, we have been successful in securing £200,000 from the Esmee Fairbairn Charity for strategy and community engagement support in the local area.

Our key goals are:

• Local people have more say over the changes in their local community.

This means that local people are actively involved in the development of place-based community assets, enterprises and projects. Local people will have more influence on local development and regeneration.

• ·A more diverse range of local people work together to improve their community.

This means community members from a wider range of backgrounds become active citizens. There are better relationships and increased collaboration between local stakeholders.

• People feel proud of their local area, and hopeful for the future.

This means stories and messages about the area are more inclusive and welcoming of diverse perspectives and communities. People are better informed, and know more about the opportunities and assets in their local community.

Community Organiser – Enterprise and Engagement

Over the past 2 years, we’ve undertaken in-depth research and community mapping to understand our area's needs, assets and lived experiences.

This role has three key responsibilities:

1. Outreach and engagement with local communities to help them build a stronger voice during regeneration

2. Supporting the development of new initiatives by local people, focused on microenterprise and wider community activity

3. Ensuring that a wider range of local people are involved and included in community activity, and their voices heard – especially those from marginalized communities

Key Tasks include

Role overview:

• Apply recognised community organising principles and practices to support the development of new initiatives in the local area.
• Broker collaborations and relationships between local groups, helping them develop a shared voice during regeneration.
• Identify and develop active citizens, and support them to develop and deliver their own individual and shared community Initiatives, including those focused on enterprise and wider community activity
• Facilitate groups and provide ‘servant leadership’ for community groups where appropriate, managing conflict effectively
• Develop effective and positive relationships with local stakeholders (including, for example, local councillors, community networks and leaders, and partner organisations), communicating assertively, and with diplomacy and tact.
• Organise Events: Plan and host events, both online and in person, to strengthen community ties and increase visibility.

Working Arrangements and Travel Requirements

Rainforest Trust UK staff work remotely and you will be expected to work primarily from home with an excellent internet connection. You may be based anywhere in the UK but you will be expected to work from a shared team space in London once a month, and your donor meetings/events are most likely to take place there.

The postholder will be required to host networking events and attend some online meetings with our partners in the U.S so some (early) evening working is required. We are also flexible as to how many hours this postholder works, and will consider a 3-5 day per week arrangement, depending on experience.

The Fundraising CRM Transformation Data Manager will play a crucial role in an exciting project to transform the technology that underpins all our fundraising activities.
