You’ll know how to take lots of information and shape it into clear, exciting messages. That means writing great copy, editing text from others, and using tools like Canva to create eye-catching visuals.

Job Summary 

The Head of Student Representation is a critical member of the Students’ Union’s Delivery senior team and leads Durham SU’s work in influencing Durham University in students’ academic interests, through the support of student leaders and volunteers. The Head manages the Student Voice team, which coordinate support for academic representatives, and which provides policy advice to student leaders and the Durham SU senior staff.

The Head is also the operational lead for data protection, information governance, and data analysis. 

Key Responsibilities and Duties 

The Head of Student Representation is responsible for the performance, growth and sustainability of Durham SU’s professional staff team and volunteers, organised to support faculty and academic representatives.

In particular, the Head will: 

• Lead effective support for Durham student leaders who want to help make Durham University education better and fairer. 

• Anticipate and respond to student need in their education, seek and seize opportunity, and manage risk. 

• Ensure that Durham SU and its student leaders can, and do, speak with authority on matters impacting Durham students’ education, on behalf of the wider student community. 

• Provide advice and make recommendations to student leaders, Durham SU senior staff and the Board of Trustees on policy development within their area of responsibility. 

• Support the Deputy Chief Executive in the development and maintenance of relationships with Durham University’s academic and professional staff. 

The Head of Student Representation will be accountable for: 

• Leadership across the newly formed Delivery function in the SU – working closely alongside the Head of Community and the Deputy Chief Executive to provide a high-quality experience to Students’ Union stakeholders

• Managing their team efficiently, effectively and consistently with Durham SU’s values, within agreed targets, to meet agreed outcomes. 

• Delivery of research, reports, consultations and project outcomes as agreed with Durham University (for example, access and participation fund work, responses to the Teaching Excellence Framework, the National Student Survey, etc). 

• Successful support offers for academic communities within four faculties, including academic representatives and academic student groups

• Seeking and holding key external relationships and advancing the reputation and reach of Durham students and Durham SU. 

• Durham SU’s responsible and effective use of student data and insight, including the management of large data transfers from Durham University to Durham SU.

• Supporting the successful delivery of student elections to ensure high levels of engagement, experience and turnout.

You'll undergo comprehensive IPS training under our national lead and manage a caseload of service users motivated to seek paid work within structured treatment. Employment Specialists play a crucial role in service integration, promoting IPS, and nurturing relationships with treatment service staff.

• Managing a small caseload, undergoing structured substance use treatment, facilitating their motivation for work.
• Implementing the Individual Placement and Support (IPS) methodology, providing necessary training.
• Engaging clients to identify work skills, goals, and aspirations, and developing tailored job search plans.

Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities:

• Good medical care: Provide a clinical assessment, including relevant psychiatric and
  physical investigation, of a wide range of substance misusers presenting to the service.
• Review and Monitor: patients’ treatment progress (including results of urinalysis and other laboratory investigations). 
• Documenting: To keep accurate appropriate and up-to-date medical and administrative documentation including computer records.
• Specialist Assessments: Provide specialist prescribing assessments to opiate, stimulant, tranquilizer, barbiturate and alcohol dependent clients. 
• Working with others: Attend multidisciplinary meetings, promoting the nomination of named link workers and actively supporting the implementation of integrated care pathways.
• Represent Change Grow Live: Represent the service at a range of meetings with other
  professionals and agencies in order to evaluate, monitor and develop treatment services for substance misusers and minimise barriers to treatment.
• Maintaining good medical practice: participate in continuing professional development, annual appraisal and revalidation and to join appropriate supervision and PDP groups for the role.

About You:

• Medical Degree and completion of Basic Medical Training.
• Full GMC-UK Registration with License to Practice.
• Experience in delivering evidence based treatments in Substance Misuse 
• Good knowledge of addiction psychiatry and legislation relating to Mental Health 
• Demonstrable ability to work independently with minimal consultant supervision.
• Experience in a multi-disciplinary team setting and with other agencies.
• Evidence of participation in Clinical Audit.
• Experience in working with substance misuse and mental health issues.

At Fear Free, we take pride in delivering exceptional services across the Southwest region, and we are excited to announce that we are launching a new team delivering sexual violence therapeutic support across Wiltshire and Swindon. Part of a diverse team of professionals supporting adult and child victims of sexual violence, you will play an integral role in providing one-to-one and group support for adult survivors. 

The Independent Sexual Violence Advisor (ISVA) will work within a multi-agency system to provide a proactive, person-centred independent service for adult and children who are victims of sexual violence, empowering choice through informed decision making. Key elements of the role include: 

• Risk assessing and helping to keep service users safe (safety planning). 

• Working with primary and secondary schools within Wiltshire to provide support and guidance on how to support children affected by sexual violence or abuse 

• Providing informal education in assemblies and schools around consent and healthy relationships around Wiltshire

• Provision of 1-1  psychoeducational support sessions, with a focus on safety and stabilisation. 

• Enabling victims to access statutory and other services. 

This ISVA role requires the building of effective relationships with other agencies especially educational settings within Wiltshire that may support victims of sexual violence, developing referral pathways and creating outward facing information resources and campaigns to raise awareness and build confidence in reporting sexual violence. 

The ISVA will be required to work to the Quality Standards for services supporting victims/survivors of sexual violence. 

This fixed term role for 12 months will be based in our Trowbridge office, with expectation of paid travel across the area. Fear Free supports staff to work flexibly and we operate hybrid working (working both remotely and in the offices). 

Key Responsibilities 

• To provide a person centred, client focused, independent service, distinct from the role of a crisis worker or counsellor, primarily for the benefit of the victims of sexual abuse. 

• To work with family members and supporters of victims to provide information and support where appropriate and required. 

• To work within educational settings like primary and secondary schools in Wiltshire to ensure there is support for DSLs who support students who have been victims of sexual abuse. 

• To deliver educational sessions in school assemblies and classes around consent and healthy relationships. 

• To be point of contact for schools in Wiltshire for advice and guidance. 

• To work with victims who have chosen to report their abuse and those who have not and provide a victim led service to all service users, empowering choice through informed decision making. 

• To complete a support needs analysis, including risk assessments, in relation to support and counselling services and create an individualised safety plan for each client. 

• To provide specialist psychoeducational support, focusing on safety and stabilisation, to support victims to manage their experience of trauma. 

• To provide practical and emotional support to meet the needs of each individual service user to enable them to move forwards towards recovery. 

• To refer on to other support if required, including internally to our other therapeutic based supports. 

• To provide sensitive and non–judgmental support, enabling the service user to regain control and self-esteem. 

• Encourage/assist clients to develop their own support network. 

• To provide information to enable clients to make informed decisions in relation to the self-referral option, medical care, forensic examination, making a police report, mental health and sexual health and onward referrals.

• To promote the service to external agencies where applicable.

• To produce clear record keeping/documentation, in a timely manner according to Fear Free’ policies and procedures. 

• To assess, offer and gain consent from the client for any onward referrals. 

• To document clearly any safeguarding concerns, complete any relevant risk assessments and liaise with relevant safeguarding teams and attend MARAC, MASH and Children’s’ Services meetings if appropriate.

• Ensuring that the service user’s views, opinions, wishes and needs are understood, respected and listened to and held at the forefront of support, whilst fully complying with all safeguarding requirements. 

• Safeguard the health & welfare of service users and their families. 

• Enable service users to participate in the design, delivery and evaluation of services. 

• Utilise evaluation and monitoring systems to ensure high standards of service are consistently achieved. 

• Ensure support provided is accessible to clients in terms of location and times.

• To manage a case load – balancing new referrals, existing cases and closing cases. 

• To offer specialist advice to other professionals and agencies where required.

HR Business Partner | Interim | 6 months + | Birmingham | £350 - £437 per day (Umbrella)

For Europe's largest infrastructure project, we're recruiting two Interim HR Business Partners for at least 6 months. Both roles will support Heads of HR across various directorates to support with organisational HR strategy and consultation on change programmes and will analyse HR data and MI to advise and enable colleagues and line managers on employee management, HR policy, HR process and complex employee cases.

Main Duties:

• Support Heads of HR to deliver Directorate people related priorities and develop and implement initiatives at manager level to drive improvements
• Support HR priorities including focusing on sickness absence management, attrition, and performance management
• Support and implement objective setting, performance management, end of year reviews, talent reviews, and support with engagement survey action plans
• Support OD processes at the design stage, implementing outputs with impacted colleagues, ensuring a legally compliant consultation process is followed.
• Complete monthly reporting activity, assessing data from HRMI, Resourcing and ER.
• Identify trends and share insights to support people-related decision-making
• Advise line managers on reward processes, including Temporary Responsibility Allowances, Managed Moves and process any resulting paperwork required.
• Provide support to HR leadership on the delivery of broader ER related priorities.
• Provide input and support to the development of people related policies, training and processes.

Person Specification:

• CIPD level 5 or above, with strong experience of working within a complex, changing matrix managed organisation
• Ideally experience from regulated environments, public sector, or the NHS
• Significant experience with change programmes
• Experience with employee relations (ER) processes including sickness absence, disciplinary, and performance issues
• Strong knowledge and understanding of employment law

Myeloma UK is looking for a motivated and highly proactive Senior Policy Officer to join our Patient Advocacy team within the wider Research and Advocacy directorate. 

You will have experience in analysing, developing, and communicating complex policy issues, strong communication skills, and the ability to prioritise a fast-moving and wide-ranging workload.

You will also have experience working collaboratively and building relationships with a range of internal and external stakeholders. 

You will have the ability to present findings and recommendations to a range of audiences and produce high-quality succinct briefings in a timely fashion, underpinned by evidence.

Empathy and sensitivity are required to work closely with patients and their families and friends.

Experience in the health charity sector, public/patient engagement work, and working on the National Institute of Health Care Excellence (NICE) and Scottish Medicines Consortium (SMC) consultation processes would be beneficial but not essential.

As Senior Policy Officer you will be part of the Patient Advocacy team who work to ensure that the patient voice is heard and acted upon by UK and devolved nations healthcare policy decision makers. You will represent the charity externally including national meetings with senior healthcare decision makers.

Your role is vital to developing strategic approaches to health technology appraisals (HTA), regulatory pathways (MHRA), clinical development programmes (academic and industry clinical trials) and commissioning routes to broaden access to new myeloma drug therapies and diagnostic technologies.

You will apply your skills flexibly across key policy areas including access to treatment, patient voice, stakeholder engagement and general healthcare policy and work with colleagues in communications and fundraising to make sure our supporters and the wider myeloma community understand the positive impact we make.
