Job description

The Grant Administrator will provide financial support in the form of vouchers for eligible households via telephone and email, using their administrative skills to enter customer details onto databases and process applications. A willingness to undertake routine administrative tasks with accuracy and reliability is essential.

Pay and conditions.

• The role is full-time (37.5 hours per week) however we will consider applications from a minimum of 15 hours per week.
• The salary for the role will be £25,938 per year (pro rata for part-time)
• You will be entitled to 25 days paid holiday (plus statutory holidays).

Specific responsibilities

An applicant appointed to the role will be expected to:

• You will be required enter text based and numerical information into excel sheets and Centre for Sustainable Energy’s (CSE) customer database.
• You will communicate with people, some of whom may be vulnerable, verbally and in writing.
• You will be responsible for the day to day updating of our systems such as your CSE timesheets and our client database.
• To listen attentively to callers (some of whom may be in distress) and respond to their needs in an empathetic way.
• Review eligibility documents submitted by householders to determine their eligibility for funding.
• To be familiar with and adhere to CSE’s protocol, processes, and procedures.
• Any other tasks related to this role as agreed.

What could my day look like?

The Education Worker role is a frontline, fast-paced and rewarding role where no two weeks will look the same. A typical day will have different activities, possibly spread between the IntoUniversity centre, partner schools and the offices of a corporate partner.

In the morning, you might be setting off with resources to run a workshop for sixth-form students in their secondary school. In the afternoon you may be setting up the classroom ahead of running Primary Academic Support for young people in your IntoUniversity centre. On other days, you may be travelling to a corporate partner to run a business simulation workshop for 15 year-olds or leading a group of final year primary school students on a campus visit for their graduation.

As an Education Worker, you’ll always be delivering the programme as part of your centre team, which means that any delivery is always a team effort. 

As one of our Grants & Services Officer, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring that grant applications are processed efficiently and applicants are dealt with holistically, compassionately and professionally.

 As we help record numbers of people, the successfully appointed Grants & Services Officer will be required to:

Deal with applicant enquiries

• Ensure a pleasant, helpful and empathetic welcome to applicants who contact the Charity by email, web form, written application or telephone.
• Provide guidance to applicants in relation to the Charity’s grants criteria, services and process, ensuring they understand how to apply and that their request fits within our criteria.
• ​Identify any potential safeguarding concerns at an early stage, escalating appropriately 

Process applications and referrals to services in a timely manner

• Verify that applicants are eligible beneficiaries and meet the Charity’s criteria.
• Prioritise any applications with particularly urgent requests 
• Check that each application is complete and follow up with applicants, as required, to ensure all information and supporting documents have been submitted.

Provide guidance and information to applicants

• Provide clear guidance to applicants throughout the application process and respond to their queries quickly

Job Purpose

As a Night Shelter Manager, you’ll be the lead staff member for your shift, overseeing the safe and smooth running of one of Glass Door’s seasonal night shelters between November and April. 

You’ll work alongside Overnight Homeless Shelter Workers and volunteers on your shift to make sure the shelter is a welcoming, safe, and respectful place for up to 35 guests. Your role is to set the tone for the night: briefing the team before opening, welcoming and inducting new guests, explaining our shelter guidelines, and ensuring everyone knows their responsibilities. You’ll be the first point of contact for any issues during your shift, whether that’s supporting someone in distress, addressing concerns or responding to challenging behaviour. 

You’ll also ensure shelter procedures are followed, keep accurate records of attendance and incidents, and maintain clear communication with the casework team so they can follow up with guests. Alongside leading operations, you’ll actively work with guests, volunteers, and colleagues to create a friendly and supportive environment where everyone is treated with dignity. 

This role is ideal for someone who can remain calm under pressure, lead a small team confidently, and is committed to supporting people as they work towards ending their homelessness; all while making sure the night shelter runs smoothly from start to finish. 

Job Description 

As the lead staff member for your shift, you’ll be responsible for the smooth and safe running of the shelter during your working hours. You’ll work closely with Overnight Homeless Shelter Workers and volunteers, setting the tone for the night and making sure everything runs to plan. 

Your main responsibilities will include: 

• Leading the shift – Oversee the running of the shelter during your shift, making sure guests, staff, and volunteers are safe and supported. 

• Briefing the team – Hold a short briefing before opening to make sure everyone understands their roles and responsibilities for the night. 

• Welcoming guests – Greet guests warmly, induct new arrivals by explaining shelter guidelines and behaviour expectations, and answer any questions they have. 

• Supporting volunteers – Guide and support the volunteer team, working closely with Volunteer Coordinators to make sure their time is well organised and meaningful. 

• Monitoring wellbeing – Keep an eye on guest welfare throughout the shift, offering support when needed. 

• Responding to issues – Manage any situations that arise, from emotional distress to challenging behaviour or medical emergencies, and call emergency services if necessary. Training will be provided. 

• Overseeing safety and security – Take responsibility for the overall safety and security of the shelter during your shift, ensuring guests, staff, and volunteers are safe and supported at all times. 

• Following procedures – Help make sure the shelter’s policies and procedures are understood and put into practice during the shift. 

• Shift handover – Provide a clear handover at the end of your shift so the overnight team has all the information they need. 

• Shelter van – Drive the van from its parking location to the shelter at the start of the shift, keep it tidy, and carry out basic stock checks before departure, reporting any shortages for restocking. 

• Keeping accurate records – Record attendance, incidents, and observations using our iPad-based In-Form system so colleagues have up-to-date information. 

• Working with the casework team – Share relevant information about guests’ welfare and needs to support follow-up work. 

• Supporting practical needs – Assist the casework team with practical tasks related to guests’ day-to-day needs as requested. 

• Attending meetings and training – Join monthly shelter meetings and other training or team sessions as required. 

• Supervision meetings – Take part in regular supervision meetings with the Service Manager. 

• Pitching in where needed – From time to time, take on other reasonable tasks to help the shelter run smoothly.

Transforming Lives for Good (TLG) are a national Christian charity working in partnership with local churches to bring struggling children hope and a future. Building on the huge success of TLG Early Intervention Coaching, School-based TLG Therapeutic Hubs will be a new way for TLG, with partner churches, to provide support in school for the increasing number of pupils struggling to cope due to their emotional, relational, and mental health experiences. As a Trusts Officer, you will be a part of our dynamic and high performing Major Gifts and Special Events team. We have a well established programme raising circa £5 million a year across the department to fund our vital work but big ambitions to grow that further. 

About the role 

This role is part of the trusts and statutory team of nine. In this role you will coordinate trust fundraising activity within a large portfolio of funders, identifying trusts and foundation prospects and writing high quality proposals and reports in collaboration with supportive colleagues in the team and across the charity. It is a permanent, full time position with an established portfolio of four and five figure trust donors, and the opportunity to grow this significantly in the coming years.

Together with our other Trusts Officer, you’ll oversee the small trusts programme of regular supporters, create tailored approaches to bigger funders in your portfolio, and support other team projects and cultivation events.

What you’ll do:

• Cultivate strong working relationships with a portfolio of trust and foundation supporters increasing their engagement with and support of the charity.

• Maintain an active portfolio of small and mid-sized trust funders, and research new trusts increasing your own portfolio. 

• Create clear and concise proposals and reports for trusts in England, Wales, Northern Ireland and Scotland including for project and region-specific funding requests.

Job Purpose

As an Overnight Homeless Shelter Worker, you’ll be part of a small, professional team running Glass Door’s night shelters between November and April. Working alongside at least one other staff member, you’ll be awake and engaged throughout the night, supporting up to 35 guests who are experiencing homelessness. 

Your role is about creating a safe, calm, and welcoming space where guests can rest, feel respected, and be treated with dignity. You’ll build trust through friendly conversation, keep an eye on everyone’s wellbeing with regular checks, and step in when problems arise – from offering reassurance to someone in emotional distress, to calmly handling challenging behaviour, to calling emergency services if needed. 

Most nights are steady and focused on guest support, but there can be moments of pressure. We’ll provide training so you feel confident and prepared. You’ll also help serve a light breakfast in the morning and ensure our equipment is packed and ready for the next night – with one of you driving the van back to base.

Job Responsibilities

What You’ll Do 

You’ll be part of the overnight team making sure our night shelters are safe, supportive, and welcoming spaces for everyone staying with us. This is an awake, overnight role, you will be alert and engaged for the whole shift. Your main responsibilities will include: 

• Welcoming and supporting guests – Create a friendly, respectful atmosphere and build positive relationships with guests, volunteers, and colleagues. 

• Staying alert all night – Carry out regular checks around the shelter (every 20 minutes) to make sure guests are safe, and comfortable. 

• Responding to situations – Calmly manage any issues that arise, such as someone feeling unwell, experiencing emotional distress, or showing challenging behaviour. This may sometimes mean calling emergency services. Training will be provided. 

• Keep the shelter safe and secure – Follow all safety, security, and health and safety procedures. This includes locking and unlocking doors and making sure the space stays tidy and free from hazards. 

• Recording important information – Write clear, accurate shift reports and note any concerns or observations. Complete incident forms if needed. 

• Supporting volunteers – Offer direction and guidance to volunteers on shift so everyone works well together. 

• Enforcing behaviour expectations – Address situations where may display challenging behaviour, using a calm and respectful approach, conflict de-escalation training is provided for all staff. 

• Packing and unpacking the van – unload equipment and supplies into the van at the start of the shift and repack at the end of the night. The allocated driver will return the van to base (driver shifts are paid for an extra hour). 

• Restocking supplies – Keep an eye on essentials such as tea, coffee, and toilet paper, and restock from the van when needed. 

• Preparing a simple breakfast – In the morning, help serve drinks, toast, and porridge, and make sure guests are woken from 6am so they can leave by 7am. 

• Tidying and closing down – Gather equipment, pack it away, and ensure nothing is left behind. 

• Training and meetings – Attend occasional in-person training sessions, team meetings, or other activities. From time to time, you may be assigned online training to complete while on shift. 

• Work to a rota – Shifts will include evenings, weekends, and public holidays, so flexibility is important. 

• Help with other tasks as needed – From time to time, you may be asked to help with other reasonable tasks that keep the night shelter running smoothly.

Role Purpose

We’re looking for a flexible and self-motivated Project Assistant to join our team in Newcastle, supporting the delivery of our Home from Hospital and Community Support project.

Preventing admissions, and re-admissions, to hospital is crucial for the NHS. Re-admissions alone cost the NHS over £2 billion per year, and no-one wants to be in hospital when they can be recovering safely and comfortably at home. The Home from Hospital project was developed to help enable people to thrive back at home, and in the community, while at the same time supporting the NHS.

We recruit, train, support and coordinate volunteers, who provide a “little bit of help” to people who may be socially isolated, have health issues, or don’t have many people around them.

Our volunteers provide social, emotional or practical support, completing short-term tasks for up to 6 weeks. This includes tasks such as helping with grocery shopping, collecting and delivering medical prescriptions, in person or telephone check in’s, driving someone to an appointment, helping with paperwork, ensuring the home is safe and secure, and lots more!

As our Project Assistant, you will:

· Work closely with Volunteering Matters colleagues in a flexible and agile way, taking instruction and responding quickly to ensure beneficiaries and volunteers have the best possible experience

· Face to face and telephone contact with older people taking part in the project, completing practical, social, or wellbeing tasks to meet their individual needs

· Administrative tasks including providing updates to colleagues on project activities, processing paperwork, and other computer-based tasks to help ensure the smooth delivery of the programme

· Support with the promotion of the project across Newcastle in order to attract new volunteers and generate referrals – this may include drafting content, public speaking and giving presentations

This role is part of a fast-paced and responsive workplace environment. In order to meet the needs of the programme, we are looking for a candidate who can offer significant flexibility when it comes to working hours – ideally over 4 days per week.

PURPOSE OF THE ROLE
The New Partnerships Manager will join an experienced team responsible for identifying and securing new partnerships across a range of sectors. They will help generate significant income, increase audience reach, and maximise the power of our brand so that new partners can see the impact they can have for children and young people.

YOUR KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND IMPACT:

• Generating Income and growth: able to identify and secure new partnerships that generate significant income, reach new audiences and help deliver the organisation’s plans for growth.

• Financial Reporting: Contribute to financial targets and use them to inform budgeting and forecasting.

YOUR SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
ESSENTIAL CRITERIA:

• Commercial Development: Demonstrate strong commercial acumen with a proven track record of identifying opportunities and securing income from new partnerships ideally in charity context. Significant brand and marketing campaign experience with notable success, including metrics like increased sales, brand awareness, or customer engagement. An understanding of how these approaches can help deliver on the organisation’s wider purpose for children. 
• Relationship Management: Excellent interpersonal skills to engage effectively with a range of internal and external stakeholders, and convey ideas succinctly and persuasively. Ability to use a variety of approaches to tailor and secure new partnerships ideally in a charity context.
• Creative Thinking: Experience of developing innovative ideas and compelling propositions and converting into wins to engage our audiences and supporters.
• Campaign Experience: Experience contributing to large-scale campaigns, preferably in a non-profit context.
• Passion for Cause: A genuine passion for delivering change for children and young people across the UK.

FearFree delivers services across the Southwest for victims, children and perpetrators of domestic abuse, sexual violence and stalking with the aim to break the cycle of abuse and support all to live free from fear. We provide trauma responsive support, and this post will be fundamental to ensuring service users, stakeholders and partners experience this in our daily delivery.

This exciting post will be working with children who have experienced or been affected by domestic abuse and sexual violence. Focusing on standard and medium risk cases, this role will provide practical and emotional support to children and young people, whilst working proactively with other professionals, with an emphasis on early intervention and awareness raising.

FearFree is committed to flexible and hybrid working and this role will be a mix of home based and office based, alongside requiring travel for multi-agency meetings and other deliverables. 

This role may include evening and weekend work when required.

Key Responsibilities 

• Manage a caseload of low to high risk children and young people, predominantly through face to face appointments but also utilising virtual technologies and group work.

• Plan, recruit and deliver group work interventions for children and young people alongside colleagues. 

• Complete an initial assessment of the child’s needs so that you can identify and plan the support needed to address issues and prevent any problems from escalating. 

• Assess the needs of the child and devise appropriate support and safety plans with due regard to the dynamic nature of risk. 

• Proactively engage with children and young people affected by DA/SV by providing therapeutic sessions tailed to their needs in where they are in their recovery journey. 

• Risk assess and follow FearFree safety procedures to ensure personal safety and that of service users and other staff at all times. 

• Actively support carers and parents in how to support their CYP affected by trauma. This may include working together to ensure the child is support at every stage in their recovery journey. 

• Respond to emergencies and crises with a focus on the child’s wellbeing and safeguarding. 

• Provide child-centred, trauma responsive support to all your cases taking in considering different learning needs, to empower the young person to make informed choices. 

• Enable service users to participate in the design, delivery and evaluation of services. 

• Keeping the child’s voice central to all support and decision making wherever possible: taking the time to talk through and work with the individual child’s understanding around safeguarding and why we need to share certain things. 

• Act as duty officer, responding to incoming calls, logging referrals and making assigned outgoing calls, according to the duty rota.

• Work effectively within a multi-agency framework, consisting of the MARAC and local partnership responses to domestic abuse and sexual violence, in order to reduce the risk for service users and their families.

• Be proactive with your line manager to carry out periodic case reviews. 

• Respect and value the diversity of the community in which the services work in, and recognise the needs and concerns of a diverse range of survivors ensuring the service is accessible to all. 

General 

• Live and embody the FearFree values.

• To promote the service to external agencies where applicable.   

• Give information and support to service users regarding their other needs and refer them to other support services as required.

• Ensure our service is widely accessible – adapting practice as required to suit individuals.

• Work across a large geographical area to ensure locality is not a barrier to accessing services. 

• Deliver training and information sessions to promote our service, and increase awareness and understanding of domestic abuse, sexual violence and stalking for victims and those who harm. 

• Have a responsibility around safeguarding of both adults and children, maintaining knowledge of appropriate policies and procedures and integrated working. 

• Support other agencies in the identification and referral of domestic abuse, sexual violence and stalking issues via promotion of service and institutional advocacy. 

• Ensure all referrals are clearly logged on our database and all case records are kept fully updated, according to FearFree policies and procedures. 

• Engage with case management supervision, reflective practice and clinical supervision as required, taking an active role in managing own wellbeing and supporting the wellbeing of your colleagues. 

• Support colleagues in all services across FearFree as required. 

• Support the sustainability of the organization by participating in fundraising activities and sharing ideas and contacts for income generation. 

• To engage in and contribute to effective team working with a flexible and pro-active approach, including cover for other team members’ holidays and sickness. 

• Undertake all statutory and mandatory training, as required by the organisation.
