We are looking for a Trusts & Philanthropy Manager for an inspiring health charity to manage your own portfolio of charitable trusts and support the developing major donor and statutory funding relationships for an incredible health charity.

This role can be UK remote working or Hybrid working with the Hampshire office.

The Role
Support the Head Of Trusts and Philanthropt to develop and implement plans to grow income primarily from trusts, but potentially from major donors and statutory funders in the longer term.

Line manage the Senior Trusts Officer or Trusts Officer.

Deliver exemplar stewardship and relationship management to donors which responds to their individual needs and inspires continued support, mostly through written and telephone communications but also includes participation in events, visits and meetings.

Carry out research to identify and cultivate prospective funders, discuss potential projects, submit excellent written applications and manage follow up.

The Candidate
A successful track record in trusts fundraising including securing 5 and 6 figure gifts.

Excellent writing skills for delivering proposals and reports and writing to a deadlines.

Experience in developing and maintaining relationships at all levels with excellent interpersonal skills.

Excellent team working and collaborative working skills and the ability to develop effective working relationships, supporting colleagues across the organisation.

The Role

The Philanthropy & Research Manager will work closely with the Head of Philanthropy to deliver on their ambitious strategy. This person will help cultivate a pipeline of ideas and manage a concentrated portfolio of philanthropic partnerships for the long-term. They will contribute to the portfolio by conducting deep, critical research in line with the inthallo’s unique approach and criteria. This will involve applying due diligence by prioritising qualitative factors and building purposeful relationships to deliver mutually beneficial engagement plans. The approach focuses on the identification of organisations with a unique, scalable offering and the potential to deliver transformational societal returns. In addition to this, this person will conduct sector specific or thematic research projects and share them with the wider team to contribute to the learning of the whole organisation.

The Person

We are looking for critical research ability, proven potential to grow, and an intellectually curious mindset. These traits are essential to success in this role, more so, than very specific backgrounds. Previous research experience in an analytical capacity is a definite a plus.

This person will have substantial experience (3-5 years) of working in environments such as philanthropy, either within grant making through family, corporate or independent foundations or possibly within the corporate or investment world where social impact and transformational change is the end goal. Reporting directly to Head of Philanthropy and Partnerships, the primary objective of the role is to manage existing grants and accounts, secure new funding and manage a Philanthropy and Partnerships Officer.

Your key focus will be identifying, creating relationships with and securing donations from corporate and family Trusts and Foundations and/or major donors. The role is highly international, working with colleagues across Afghanistan, Kenya and Tanzania, and a prospect base spread across globe.

Key responsibilities

• Grow income securing five- and six-figure gifts from Trusts and Foundations (60%) Corporate (30%) and Major Donors (10%) supporting an income target of £1.8m.
• Drive the expansion of Hand in Hand’s income by securing significant gifts ranging from five to seven figures from both new and existing donors.
• Engage senior-level donors through calls, meetings, and events to provide updates on project advancements and identify additional donation opportunities.
• Collaborate with UK-based colleagues and in-country teams in the creation of comprehensive proposals, including narrative content, logical frameworks, and budgets.

The Philanthropy and Global Engagement Division serves, engages and works in partnership with alumni and friends, staff and students, volunteers, donors, global partners, organisations and the wider community to further the strategic aims of the School. We are seeking a Philanthropy Proposal Writer, on a one-year fixed appointment to cover maternity leave. You will be responsible for creating persuasive content for use in bespoke proposals for potential donors and funders, most particularly for 7-9 figure opportunities. As well as developing and delivering compelling concept notes and proposals to solicit leadership philanthropic gifts, you will contribute to Campaign content that demonstrates the need for and impact of philanthropy, to help inspire more supporters to invest in and partner with LSE.

You should have exceptional written communication skills with the ability to influence and persuade through use of words, style and tone, an ability to translate complex academic concepts into persuasive content for donors and funders, and confidence in in coordinating activities and people to achieve success.

Key Tasks

• Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all high value fundraising activity, including proposals, applications, and donor interactions, and be able to regularly report this activity back to the Head of Philanthropy.

About You:

With your proven experience of philanthropy fundraising, you’ll have personally secured 5 figure + gifts from a major donor. With your ability to develop and maintain excellent relationships with donors, you’ll be able to adapt your communication style to articulate complex issues in a succinct and compelling way. 

You’ll have project management skills to enable you to devise donor engagement plans and work with senior volunteers and trustees to develop funding proposals and identify opportunities.

• Actively work to secure income to meet agreed personal and team fundraising targets in line with the organisation’s operational priorities to meet the needs of the communities and individuals we serve.
• Identify potential prospects, working alongside the Prospect Researcher, Senior Management colleagues and Trustees to continue to identify new prospects to grow the pipeline.
• Build, manage and maintain a portfolio of donors from £5,000 gifts upwards, stewarding relationships to ensure donor satisfaction and long-term financial commitment, including detailed and timely reporting as well as engagement with senior stakeholders within St John.
• Collaborate effectively with colleagues in fundraising to identify major donor prospects and opportunities to maximise donor experience – such as work with Supporter Engagement and the Community Fundraising team.

World Child Cancer is seeking an experienced corporate and philanthropy fundraiser to join our growing team and play a vital role in improving the chances of survival and quality of life of children with cancer in under-resourced countries.

About World Child Cancer

Over 400,000 children worldwide develop cancer each year. Childhood cancer is most often curable, with over 80% survival rate in high income countries. However, in many low-and-middle-income countries survival rates are often 25% or lower.

World Child Cancer’s goal is to help redress that inequity and improve the chances of children with cancer to survive and thrive in under-resourced countries. We currently work with local hospitals in 12 countries in Africa, Asia and Mexico to enable children with cancer to have equal access to the best possible treatment and care through awareness raising on signs of childhood cancer, providing financial, logistical and emotional support to address barriers to access treatment, training of healthcare workers and advocacy.

Overview of the role

This newly created Senior Philanthropy and Partnerships Manager role will play a key part in raising income from companies and philanthropists to help achieve World Child Cancer’s mission.

You will be passionate about enabling children with cancer to have equitable access to quality treatment wherever they are born. We are looking for someone experienced in corporate and philanthropy fundraising, who is proactive, confident in engaging with high value funders, able to develop strong internal and external relationships, has strong verbal and written communication skills, a collaborative way of working and experience in developing new business.

You will join a small but ambitious and high performing team that contributes significantly to World Child Cancer’s annual income of c. £2m.

Reporting to: Head of Philanthropy and Partnerships

The Fundraising Development Manager role is a real opportunity to help Somerset Wildlife Trust develop a sustainable fundraising strategy and bring together the Fundraising and Supporter Development Team to retain and grow donations. Responsible for our 23,000 members, as well as appeals, adoptions, our online shop and member events, the Fundraising Development Manager will lead the team to bring in a significant proportion of unrestricted income, as well as managing the relationships with some of our most passionate supporters.

We are looking for an insightful fundraising manager who can help us maintain our existing fundraising channels as well as developing our corporate membership strategy and investigating new sources of giving and opportunities we have yet to take advantage of – essential if we are to achieve our ambitious strategy. You’ll be working with the entire wider fundraising team to help develop leads and pipelines to support the wider fundraising efforts, as well as having the opportunity to diversify our fundraising actions.

Meet Fundraising Strategic Targets

Supervise and line manage the Fundraising and Supporter Care Team by building integrated programmes of supporter development activities that retain and grow donations and fundraising from existing supporters and deliver growth in income by recruiting new financial supporters to achieve financial targets.

Responsibility 1: Leading Public Fundraising Activity

Manage fundraising activity through:

• Leading the fundraising team to build integrated programmes of activities that increase donors and deliver growth in income.
• Growing annual membership numbers by managing and maintaining current recruitment channels. Oversee relationships and engagement with our membership including complaint management.
• Managing the relationship with the Trust’s face to face membership recruitment company, SWWFL, to deliver best efficiency and returns on investment.
• Planning and implementing integrated appeals and other ways for members and the public to give which deliver strong results to support the Trust’s fundraising priorities and targets.
• Working as fundraising leadership team with the Philanthropy and Trusts & Grants Managers, supporting the Head of Fundraising on strategic projects.
• Developing and testing activities based on insights and analysis to ensure the best return on investment across all segments of the supporter base, to support fundraising colleagues.
• Managing existing corporate relationships to maintain and improve corporate fundraising levels, supporting account management of corporate partners.
• Establishing a data collection strategy in line with current data protection rules and which creates a pool of warm leads to convert into donors.
• Ensuring our new supporter database (Raiser’s Edge) is fully developed within the Trust and developed to maximise our integration with existing systems. Supporting teams across the organisation to use RE to increase knowledge of existing relationships and creating opportunities for fundraising and engagement.
• Managing the workload, performance and personal development of the supporter development team to drive more support and income for Somerset Wildlife Trust.
• Being accountable for setting the Supporter Development budget and reporting on performance against targets, to help inform planning and product development.
• Championing the use of best practice marketing techniques, including data collection and GDPR, throughout the Trust, with a particular commitment to delivering high standards of supporter care and fundraising practice.

Responsibility 2: Developing sustainable income streams

Be proactive and nurture strong relationships by:

• Identifying, developing and testing new individual giving fundraising activities based on insights and analysis, to ensure sustainable fundraising income across a variety of sources that target all segments of the supporter base.
• Identifying and testing membership recruitment diversification channels and growing annual membership income via techniques including upgrades.
• Designing and implementing a fundraising strategy for corporates, including identifying targets, developing relationships, and significantly increasing income from this fundraising channel. Work with other corporate functions across the Trust to ensure a combined corporate offering that benefits everyone.

Responsibility 3: Developing Fundraising pipelines

Provide management and accountability by:

• Working collaboratively with colleagues to contribute ideas and knowledge to deliver integrated engagement and fundraising campaigns and the growth of other income streams, including gifts of £1k+, gifts in wills, Community Fundraising and Grant Fundraising.
• Creating user journeys and stewardship for our supporters to help retention and increase giving propensities.
• Developing a warm lead generation and development program to increase the number of potential donors within our database, supporting all areas of individual giving including Community Fundraising, Legacies, Major Donors and Patrons.
• Working with the Database Officer, Philanthropy Manager and Community Fundraising Manager to identify segments within the database that could be developed into Major Donors or to support other fundraising income streams.
• Investigating and developing an event strategy to help support specific demographic groups including Corporates, members and other key supporters, including the annual AGM and members day.

Standing Voice is looking for an experienced Fundraising Manager based in or near London to join our UK team. This is an exciting and challenging role in a creative and focused working environment, within an organisation with multiple programmes and funding streams across 3 countries. This position suits an ambitious and experienced fundraiser, equipped with excellent written and oral communication skills and a depth of donor management experience. 

The successful candidate will report to the Executive Director and be tasked with advancing & implementing Standing Voice’s Fundraising Strategy including writing grants proposals; diversifying & scaling-up the organisation’s income streams; and managing donor relations and reporting.
