Centrepoint, the UK’s leading youth homelessness charity, is looking for a Senior Philanthropy Officer to join our Fundraising team.

The role is offered on a hybrid working basis with home working combined with 2 days/week on average in our London or Manchester office.

The Senior Philanthropy Officer will sit within the Philanthropy team, providing excellent supporter stewardship to help retain and grow a strong portfolio of donors. Building relationships with supporters who give £5,000 - £20,000 a year, the Senior Philanthropy Officer will also project manage a strand of the team’s strategy, as well as take responsibility for managing our Mid Value Donor Pipeline.

Sitting within a team of 4, the Senior Philanthropy Officer will play a key role in helping to further develop our team strategy – ensuring we remain on top of trends within the sector and prioritise innovative solutions to growing income.

• Working experience in philanthropy fundraising or account management, with demonstrated ability to achieve key results and tasks

• Managing a pool of supporters who give £5,000 - £20,000 a year to Centrepoint
• Leading on an area of the team’s growth strategy

• Robust record keeping and data analysis
• Collaborating within Relationship Fundraising and the wider Fundraising department on supporter communications, experience and cross-team projects.

Full Fact – Philanthropy Officer
Location: Remote working.
Salary: £30-£35,000 per annum

Full Fact, the independent fact checking charity, is seeking a fundraising professional to grow their impact and safeguard their independence by raising funds from charitable trusts and high net worth individuals.

Full Fact is a team of independent fact checkers and campaigners who find, expose and counter the harm it does – a team which has seen firsthand how bad information promotes hate, damages people’s health and hurts democracy. Full Fact fights for the right information to reach the people who need it most, whether that’s individuals making decisions about their health or who to vote for; or politicians debating the future of our country.

The Philanthropy Officer will create and manage their own portfolio of existing and potential philanthropy donors and use relationship building skills to create strong links with both new and existing donors, including delivering high quality stewardship and reporting on Full Fact’s successes. The post-holder will create and update detailed and persuasive cases for support for new and existing Full Fact projects and deliver successful events that align with Full Fact’s mission and increase engagement. The role will also involve forecasting potential income from the portfolio, prepare updates for the Board and setting and meeting effective objectives and key results for Full Fact’s fundraising.

The ideal candidate for this role will have two years of fundraising experience, preferably in trusts and/or major donor fundraising. You will have experience of writing compelling fundraising appeals and inspiring reports, and of designing and managing engagement events, as well as possessing a good understanding of working with philanthropists and charitable trusts. Your persuasive communication skills will be combined with the ability to build internal and external relationships with integrity and empathy and you will have an organised and proactive approach to work. Finally, you will be committed to the political neutrality of the organisation’s work and an understanding of public debate in the UK and sensitivity to the political context they work in.

About the role

Smart Works exists to empower all women who need help getting into work. We are currently in a significant growth phase, doubling the number of women we support to 10,000 women a year by 2025. As such, we require vital cornerstone funding and are seeking to establish a Major Gifts function, to secure donations from high-net worth individuals, that will enable us to achieve our mission and help thousands of women to transform their lives.

This is an exciting new role that provides an opportunity to build a new major gifts programme from scratch. Supported by the Director of Partnerships, you will work closely with the CEO, Board, and our network of 750 volunteers, to develop a giving strategy that will engage and grow a new pool of crucial supporters for Smart Works.

The successful candidate will be responsible for managing a portfolio of existing major donors, as well as conducting prospect research, developing bespoke stewardship materials, and securing five-figure and six-figure repeat gifts.

We seek an excellent communicator, with significant experience in influencing, negotiating and exceeding set targets. Creativity, an understanding of women’s fashion, and knowledge of wealth circles would also be advantageous.

The Fundraising and Partnerships team are based in London. Duties and responsibilities

Reporting to the Director of Partnerships, the successful candidate will:

• Lead the development and delivery of a giving programme, building a pipeline and carrying out proactive prospect research
• Secure five-figure and six-figure multi-year gifts from major donors, to exceed income targets
• Research and identify prospective major donors who could support Smart Works, through existing warm networks and via outreach to cold audiences
• Work collaboratively across teams and functions to produce creative and compelling propositions and materials to secure both core and restricted funding
• Represent Smart Works to a diverse range of stakeholders and audiences to generate income and raise brand awareness
• Develop cultivation events considering regional hotspots
• Acknowledge, thank and recognize donors appropriate to their level of support and ensure restricted gifts are appropriately allocated
• Manage donor database and reporting
• Support Smart Works’ local centres across the UK and share learnings and guidance to help others build their Major Gifts potential

Skills, knowledge and personal attributes

Essential Criteria

• A track record of cultivating strong and positive relationships with multiple, senior and high-net worth individuals
• Demonstrable experience of making the ask, and an ability to support senior staff, volunteers and trustees to do so
• Interpersonal verbal communication and presentation skills, in order to foster strong relationships with donors and networks alike
• Target driven with excellent organisation and time management capabilities, demonstrating an ability to prioritise and work to deadlines
• Ability to prepare high-quality funding proposals and reports, adapting the communication style for different audiences and stakeholders to maximise impact
• Proactive, ambitious team player, able to work from own initiative

Refugee Council – Philanthropy Manager

Refugee Council is seeking an experienced philanthropy specialist to develop and grow the Refugee Council’s Philanthropy relationships and programme and deliver an ambitious Philanthropy strategy.

Refugee Council is a leading charity supporting refugees and people seeking asylum to rebuild their lives in safety here in the UK.  Providing practical, hands on support, their award winning services include welcoming refugees into local communities across the country, providing specialist children’s services – with a particular focus on refugee children who arrive here alone, helping people to navigate the asylum system, and supporting people to access housing and employment.  Evidence from services is then used to also inform the charity’s leading policy and influencing work, including campaigning for a fairer and kinder refugee protection system.  The charity works with more than 14,000 men, women and children every year.

As a result of growing need and increasing interest in Refugee Council’s work, the charity has ambitious plans to make a leap in impact, with investment in their Philanthropy Team to raise increased funds from key high value audiences.

This role will be a critical part of the Philanthropy & Partnerships Team and presents an exciting opportunity to grow Refugee Council’s established Philanthropy programme. The role will be responsible for delivering and creating bespoke development plans, supported by engaging cultivation and stewardship activities to secure increased funding from existing and new donors. The Development and Advocacy Department are looking for a Philanthropy Coordinator to join the team. This is a growth role which is testament to the dynamism in our philanthropic endeavours and the continued need to supplement our income through the relationships with our supporters. This is a pivotal role within the team, and you will be able to learn about the full range of activities undertaken by the Philanthropy Managers. You will have a varied workload including correspondence, meticulous diary management, planning for and issuing invitations to events, following up on arrangements and assisting at fundraising events. This is a fantastic opportunity for a skilled administrator who is looking to grow and develop their career in a sector leading Philanthropy Team.

This role will suit a candidate who is a strong team player, happy to pitch in and support with a variety of tasks as required. You will be able to work both independently and as part of the wider team, showing initiative but also taking direction. You will be a confident communicator who can deal with people at all levels.

Summary:

The HALO Trust are looking for an experienced and driven Philanthropy and Grants Manager to lead and develop high value relationships with philanthropic donors, with a focus on Trust and Foundations (and potentially corporates). 

The Global Philanthropy Team works to secure support for the delivery of vital projects to save lives and protect livelihoods in conflict affected countries around the world, as well as build organisational resilience and support innovative areas of work.  HALO’s philanthropic income has grown significantly in recent years, driven by introductions from our network of trustees, ambassadors and advocates and our focus on strategic and transformational partnerships. We are a small team of highly skilled, experienced and driven fundraisers with a collaborative team culture. The team is supported by a Philanthropy Operations Manager, Philanthropy Assistant and Global Philanthropy Research and Insight Lead (who leads on research and due diligence). In 2024 a Head of Philanthropy and Partnerships for the Middle East will join our team to lead relationship development in this key market. 

You will join a fast-paced, fluid and entrepreneurial context, responding to opportunities while laying the critical foundations for strategic growth. 

While the role is likely to focus on Trusts and Foundations (and potentially corporates) due to our networked approach and the strategic and interconnected nature of our partnerships, supported by networks of advocates, we do not overly separate relationships between Trusts/Foundations, corporates and HNWIs.  This provides team members with varied opportunities in terms of the relationships they lead and the high-level stakeholders they work with. From briefing our Chief Executive prior to a meeting with a new potential donor for Ukraine, to engaging existing partners in the potential expansion of work in the Middle East, you will play a key role in making HALO’s lifesaving work possible.

Russia’s invasion has resulted in mine laying and explosive contamination on a scale not seen in Europe since the Second World War, including across vast tracts of farmland. This prevents agricultural production, which is critical to Ukraine’s economy and global food security. Across seven regions, more than 1,000 local Ukrainian staff have already enabled the removal of more than 19,000 explosive items and the clearance of more 3.1 million m2 of land- bringing safety to communities and supporting Ukraine’s economic recovery.

True peace cannot come until land is safe. HALO’s work to clear the deadly debris of war is the first step towards recovery and reconstruction. And the return of hope.

About the role:

The HALO Trust has more than doubled in size over the last eight years by growing support from both Governments and philanthropic donors.  Global income from philanthropic donors (including the US) has significantly increased over the past five years – from circa £4 million to £15 million in 2022/23 and reaching a further peak of £44 million in 2023/24 in response to exceptional donor support for Ukraine. Unpinning this is growth in six and seven figure partnerships with major donors, corporates and foundations, initiated by our exceptionally well-connected network of trustees and ambassadors - and nurtured by our committed and professional global philanthropy team.

The team has a global remit and this, together with HALO’s extensive geographic footprint, creates significant opportunities for growth in our portfolio of partnerships.

By nurturing and growing high value partnerships this role plays a key role in supporting the delivery of HALO’s life-saving work around the world.

Job Responsibilities:

• Lead growth within a portfolio of high value (six and potentially seven figure) relationships by providing excellence in supporter stewardship and through the development and delivery of relationship strategies, in collaboration with the Director of Philanthropy and Head of Global Grant Partnerships
• Support senior HALO staff, advocates and trustees to engage and inspire individuals linked to agreed relationships
• Work with international programme teams to ensure the development of high-quality proposals and reports to tight deadlines
• Contribute to departmental strategic priorities including supporting the stewardship of other major relationships, follow up of new opportunities, and the development of philanthropic products for wider use. Deputise for the Head of Global Grant Partnerships where required
• Manage donor records and correspondence in Salesforce
• Work closely with Philanthropy and Partnerships (Gov funding) colleagues in the USA, UK, Europe, Middle East and overseas programs as part of a distributed team to provide support to global fundraising efforts

Essential Requirements:

• Three years' experience of personally leading successful relationships with high value philanthropic donors (Trust and Foundations, corporates or high net worth individuals or equivalent), including those giving at the six or seven figure level
• Experience of building effective relationships with advocates linked to philanthropic donors
• An excellent communicator with the ability to build relationships with staff and colleagues in different cultural environments
• Outstanding written skills with the ability to work with programme and finance colleagues to design robust project proposals, reporting, and monitoring and evaluation
• Confident in working with financial information including project budgets
• Excellent written and verbal skills with strong attention to detail
• Outstanding interpersonal skills including ability to demonstrate tact, sophistication and gravitas 
• Experience of working with a fundraising database to maximise relationship development
• A commitment to HALO’s mission and objectives
• Strong intellectual curiosity and the ability to articulate HALO’s various programmes and strategies in a compelling way
• Tenacious, self-starting, and able to thrive in a fluid, entrepreneurial context
• Collaborative, team player, with a low-ego and a positive and upbeat approach.

Desirable:

• Experience of high value fundraising in the following areas is desirable: humanitarian and international development, mine action, conflict, the environment / conservation
• Experience of pipeline and relationship development in international markets for example Europe/US and/or the Middle East.

Role Summary

As our Director of Philanthropy, you will play a pivotal role in accelerating the transition to a more sustainable future where everyone chooses delicious, healthy food that is good for all humans, animals, and the planet. You will define and implement the fundraising strategy for the next three years. By implementing effective giving strategies of key stakeholders in Europe and beyond, you will support their ambition to create a better world.

Your key responsibilities will include cultivating relationships with existing and new major donors, Trusts and Foundations, particularly in the areas of climate and health. You will also engage mid-value supporters and relevant stakeholders, including the corporate sector. You will lead a small global development team and support ProVeg's country fundraising strategies. Apart from several important long-term and new major donors and foundations, ProVeg International does not have a large supporter database. It will be your responsibility to identify and develop growth strategies.

The ideal candidate will be a confident fundraiser with broad experience building strong relationships with, and securing funding from, major donors/HNWI, trusts and foundations, and corporate donors within environmental or other international organisations.

Responsibilities

1. Major Gifts, Corporates and Foundations

• Identify and prepare proposals for new revenue streams (think outside the box!), with an emphasis on the climate-food nexus. This includes potential HNWIs as well as large institutions, corporates and climate foundations.

• Identify and develop processes and systems to support the growth of major-donor and foundation income.

• Identify suitable projects within the strategic plan to create the case for support for ProVeg countries and programmes, which fulfill donor preferences and foundation strategic priorities.

• Oversee fundraising events for major donors, and assist the President in managing donor relationships.

2. Management & Leadership

• Lead the International Fundraising team, setting annual goals, providing regular feedback, conducting annual performance reviews, and supporting continuous professional development.

• Mentor country-specific Fundraising colleagues and support ProVeg's country revenue-generation strategies.

3. Development Planning

• Design, develop, and implement a resource mobilization and cultivation strategy for one and three-year periods in collaboration with the President and CEO

Qualifications

Required:

• Minimum of five years’ experience in senior fundraising at a non-profit, preferably with an international focus. A similar or additional corporate background would also be useful.

• Understanding of effective altruism, and up-to-date knowledge of European fundraising trends.

• A track record of identifying and securing significant, multi-year funds from donors (minimum five to six-figures), particularly new donors and foundations. 

• Significant experience in researching and developing strong stakeholder relationships, as well as experience with writing concise reports.

• Excellent interpersonal skills, including confident demeanor and experience in engaging with a diverse range of high-net-worth individuals. 

• Proficient CRM skills and familiarity with fundraising tracking tools and project management

• Willingness to travel, approximately six times per year.

• Strong motivation to support the plant-based movement. 
   

Preferred: 

• Knowledge and understanding of the global food-system transition towards alternative proteins.

• Formal membership of professional-fundraising bodies.

• Adherence to a plant-based diet and lifestyle.
