The Royal Society for Public Health (RSPH) is the UK’s leading public health membership and education charity. This is an exciting opportunity to join our Policy and Public Affairs team, and play a key role to shape policy, generate evidence and influence decisionmakers on some of the most pressing public health challenges facing the UK. Ideally, we are looking for someone who can join immediately to help us make the impact we want to see in the first six months of 2027.

The role

We are looking for an enthusiastic and energetic Policy & Campaigns Advisor to support the delivery of RSPH's Policy and Public Affairs strategy. Working as part of a proactive and ambitious team, you will help develop policy positions, produce high-quality evidence and insight, and deliver campaigns and influencing activity designed to create positive change in public health.

You will have the chance to lead on key policy areas, support major policy projects across the organisation, and contribute to RSPH's public affairs, stakeholder engagement and media activity. The role offers an excellent opportunity to build relationships across the public health sector and work directly with policymakers, partners and opinion-formers to influence policy and practice.

What you will bring

You will have experience of researching complex issues, developing policy positions and supporting influencing activity. You will be comfortable working across multiple projects, balancing competing priorities and producing high-quality outputs to tight deadlines.

You will be an excellent communicator, able to build productive relationships with a wide range of stakeholders and confidently represent RSPH externally. You will combine strong analytical skills with the ability to translate evidence into clear, compelling policy recommendations and campaign messages – content that informs, engages and inspires.

We are particularly looking for someone who has:

• Experience of developing policy positions and contributing to policy or practice change.
• Strong analytical and research skills, with the ability to interpret evidence and insights.
• Excellent written communication skills, including experience producing reports, briefings, consultation responses, blogs, articles and presentations.
• An understanding of public affairs and influencing decisionmakers and key opinion leaders.
• Experience building and maintaining relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
• Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
• Excellent IT skills and confidence using Microsoft Office applications.
• A commitment to equality, diversity and inclusion.

It would be advantageous if you also have:

• A qualification or relevant experience in public health, public policy, social sciences or a related field.
• Knowledge of a public policy area relevant to RSPH's work.
• An understanding of health inequalities and the wider determinants of health.
• Awareness of the policy and political landscape across the four nations of the UK.
