Overall purpose of the role

To lead the development of a regular giving and legacy programme at the AHF, and to support the Director of Programmes/Deputy CEO in development and management of a major gifts programme during the AHF’s 50th Anniversary campaign, with possibility for continued role thereafter. The post holder will be responsible for developing systems to monitor and increase the number of regular and legacy donors to the AHF, including stewardship opportunities, and will assist in prospect research, qualifying, cultivating, and stewarding major donors.

2 Specific Duties and Responsibilities

1. Work closely with the Director of Programmes/Deputy CEO on development and delivery of the anniversary programme of activities, with particular focus on research to identify potential invitees to and engaging attendees at and after campaign launch and closure events, exhibition launches in Belfast, Glasgow, Cardiff, and London, and an industry-facing conference in London.
    
2. Develop and manage a legacy programme for the AHF including stewardship activities; develop and manage a personal portfolio of legacy donors, including making asks of existing regular supporters to consider legacies and development and drafting of legacy proposals and contracts.
    
3. Develop and manage a programme of higher-level regular giving (over £500 per annum), including stewardship activities and making asks of regular supporters to increase their giving.
    
4. Support the Director of Programmes/Deputy CEO, and CEO, with identification and management of a growing portfolio of major gift prospects, including supporting major gifts asks and helping Director of Programmes/Deputy CEO and CEO with ongoing cultivation and stewardship of major donors.
    
5. Lead on managing the AHF’s donor database, Beacon, ensuring the data is up to date with giving from Charities Aid Foundation and other external gifts, that fundraising activity is appropriately recorded on the database, and that our records are fully compliant with data protection legislation.
    
6. Work closely with the Communications Office and consultants supporting the AHF’s 50th Anniversary campaign, with an eye on developing and maximising opportunities to introduce the AHF to new potential supporters and to bolster our key messaging with those already known to us. As part of this work, sit as Secretary of the AHF Communications and Anniversary subcommittee of our Board.
    
7. Develop and maintain a reporting structure to keep AHF SMT and Board up to date with fundraising activity and opportunities.
    
8. Responsible for maintaining the AHF’s log relating to Donor Due Diligence and assisting the Director of Programmes & Deputy CEO with maintaining appropriate policies related to fundraising, including those associated with donor due diligence.
    
9. Contribute to the development and delivery of new ways of working at the AHF that will see our organisation build and maintain greater philanthropic fundraising success, including bringing examples of best practice from other charities. Assist with other tasks and activities as required, particularly those activities and processes that support the wider engagement of potential supporters with the AHF’s work.

3 Person specification

Essential

• At least five years of experience in fundraising at a charity or educational institution, including at least three years of front-line engagement with supporters;
• Knowledgeable about the processes and legislation surrounding UK fundraising, including data protection and
• A pro-active leader, with demonstrably excellent interpersonal, influencing and negotiating skills;
• Excellent organisational skills, with the ability to multi-task, and both verbal and written communication skills;
• Enthusiastic, self-motivated and target-orientated; able to work effectively on own initiative, set appropriate priorities, delegate where appropriate and meet deadlines;
• A confident and engaging presenter and speaker;
• Demonstrable ability in problem solving in response to challenges posed;
• Excellent stakeholder management skills and a track record of collaborative work with external partners;
• Demonstrable interest in and commitment to the AHF’s mission – to help deliver a sustainable future for historic buildings throughout the UK through community enterprise;
• Strong numeric and financial skills; and
• A commitment to achieving beneficial social outcomes through heritage.

About the role:

In this senior research professional role, you will be instrumental in executing strategic objectives, specifically through the delivery of a comprehensive research strategy that aligns with our charitable objects and goals. You will work closely with the Director of Communications to support content creation initiatives with research and evidence.

You will have:

• Worked in a senior Research role, preferably at Director level.
• Proven experience in developing, delivering or overseeing research projects, including sourcing funding and sponsorship
• Deep understanding of both qualitative and quantitative research methods, including data collection, analysis, and interpretation
• Ideally in-depth knowledge of the charity’s focus area, financial capability, to guide relevant and impactful research although we are open to different research specialisms with applicability/ relevance to financial capability.
• Experience in content creation, storytelling, and managing multi-channel content delivery, such as podcasts.
• Project management skills to oversee research plans, and expertise in identifying and maintaining relationships with key stakeholders.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Office Manager

£33,000 – £35,000 per annum (dependent on experience)

Office base Liverpool Street/Moorgate – Commonweal operates a flexible hybrid working policy requiring staff to attend the office base at least 2 days per week, one of which is our Tuesday anchor day when all staff are in the office.

We are seeking an Office Manager to lead and deliver the core administration that underpins our charity’s work. This new role brings together governance admin, property record management, and oversight of our office systems and environment.

As Office Manager, you will:

• Provide high-quality governance support to our Board of Trustees, including scheduling meetings, collating agendas, circulating board packs, and taking minutes.

• Manage the administration of our property portfolio, ensuring leases, rent review dates, compliance certificates and other legal documentation are accurate and up to date.

• Oversee the smooth running of our office, including IT and supplier contracts, health & safety compliance, and ensuring staff have the systems and equipment they need.

• Act as the first point of contact for general enquiries and provide reliable admin support to the CEO, DCEO and wider team.

We are looking for someone with:

• Strong organisational and time management skills.
• Experience of managing an office in the charity or not for profit sectors
• Experience of supporting Boards or committees, including minute-taking.
• Knowledge of property/lease administration, or a willingness to developed this.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Confidence managing suppliers and contractors, with a pro-active approach to problem solving.
• A collaborative and professional style, with the ability to juggle multiple priorities and deadlines

With excellent communication and administration skills, gained working in a customer service environment, including handling complaints, you will have experience of reviewing, updating and relaying information from various databases. Proficiency using Microsoft Office applications such as Word, Excel, email and the internet and a strong attention to detail and accuracy are also required. An understanding of how the Helpdesk service impacts on the Shelter brand will also be important as well as having resilience dealing with enquiries that may be difficult in nature.

The role of Personal Assistant (PA) is a key opportunity to work alongside and support the Senior Leadership Team (SLT) and the Board of Trustees (BoT) as they lead Church Army forward. The SLT comprises the CEO and three Executive Directors with multiple demands on their time and multiple responsibilities so a PA who can help them work efficiently and effectively is really important. The PA is a trusted and valued colleague who can assist the SLT maximise the impact of their time.

To perform well in this role, you need to be someone who has excellent interpersonal skills and able to engage confidently and effectively with a range of people. The PA works closely with the SLT and will be handling confidential information, so the role requires someone who understands the importance of confidentiality, works with discretion, and always acts professionally. You will need excellent organisation skills and consider what information the SLT need to make the best use of each meeting and event. You should be able to manage busy diaries and multiple projects and tasks have a flexible approach prioritising and responding to requests as they present.

Parish Finance Support Officer

Purpose of the Role

The Parish Finance Support Officer (PFSO) will be responsible for communicating and collaborating with the Parishes on their financial needs and issues, and ensuring that they are met by the central team where appropriate, or giving a steer on what responsibility properly resides at the Parish level. The PFSO will also provide feedback and suggestions to finance teams on how to improve their services and performance. the PFSO will have a broad knowledge of all aspects of finance, as well as strong interpersonal and problem-solving skills. The finance team is small and supportive, and all members are expected to contribute flexibly across a variety of tasks as needed.

Key Responsibilities

• Serve as the first point of contact for parish employees and clergy on all finance-related queries and issues.
• To develop a clear understanding of the financial goals, challenges, and opportunities within each parish.

Person Specification

Essential Skills and Experience:

• Proven experience in a finance-related role, ideally within the third sector or a decentralised organisational structure

• Strong IT skills, particularly in Microsoft Excel.

At an exciting time in JGDR's fundraising, we are looking for volunteering & community fundraising officers to support our communities in North Lincolnshire and East Yorkshire. It is a great opportunity to join a passionate team.

Hours: 35 hours per week (with occasional weekend and evening working as and when the role requires)

Location: This is a hybrid role, with regular travel required across the North Lincolnshire and East Yorkshire regions, including visits to our charity shops and centres. Weekend and evening work will be expected, as and when the role requires. Post holders will be expected to be working flexibly across their community 4 days out of 5 – with at least one day per week from our North Lincolnshire Centre – and attend regular team meetings in an agreed location.

Job summary

We are looking for a proactive, confident and supporter-focused fundraiser to build and manage relations with JGDR’s local community across North Lincolnshire and East Yorkshire.  Working with the Volunteering and Community Fundraising Manager, you will deliver a strategy to grow income and volunteer numbers from the local community. This is a varied role which will cover:

· Stewarding and recruiting supporters undertaking their own fundraising activities, including those taking part in challenge events

· Organising & attending local events to raise awareness and income

· Proactively approaching and working with local &national businesses

· Recruiting and overseeing a network of volunteers who can support income generation in your local area. This role would suit a target-driven, approachable and resourceful fundraiser with ambition and drive – there is plenty of opportunity to make this role your own and drive forward growth in these crucial income streams.

Your role

You will sit in the Volunteering and Community Fundraising team, and report to the Volunteering and Community Fundraising Manager. You will manage your own time to effectively balance both developing and stewarding relationships with individual and corporate supporters in the local area and working through a network of volunteers to deliver fundraising and retail objectives.

You will develop and grow strong relationships with supporters, collaborating with colleagues across the wider organisation to ensure you are offering the best supporter experience you can. You will attend local events with, and through, volunteers, work with colleagues in our retail and operation sites, and spot other opportunities to promote JGDR in your community and drive support for our work.

You will deliver excellent stewardship to supporters and volunteers and develop relationships with key local contacts who can help to further JGDR’s mission. You will champion supporter care and ensure that all relevant supporter information is stored on JGDR’s CRM, Donorflex.

Key responsibilities

Community fundraising

· Identify, engage, and steward DIY and community fundraisers, developing strategies to promote fundraising activities in these groups and grow income from your local area

· Proactively pursue local business partnership opportunities, developing a pipeline of potential corporate support and making applications to secure support

· Provide high quality stewardship of supporters, groups and businesses within the community, responding to enquiries in a timely way and ensuring relationships are developed and maintained at a high standard

· Represent JGDR as the first point of contact within the community, promoting our mission, vision, and values alongside fundraising and volunteer opportunities

· Ensure that Donorflex is up-to-date and develop regular reporting mechanisms to inform the Volunteering and Community Fundraising Manager of outputs and results, and support understanding of the local audiences, including individual supporters, local businesses, and volunteers, and their historical engagement with the charity

Volunteering

· Work with the Volunteering and Community Fundraising Manager and Volunteering Administration Assistant to recruit, induct and train volunteers to support fundraising and other relevant initiatives in the local community

· Via volunteer support, oversee the distribution of collection boxes in your local area, monitoring and reporting on income generated

· Coordinate and attend – supported by a network of volunteers – key local events, e.g. county shows, to raise awareness of JGDR in the local community and drive support for the charity amongst target audience groups.

· Ensure JGDR retail shops, and their volunteers, in your area have relevant and timely information on current fundraising campaigns and other initiatives to share with customers

· Ensure that the Volunteering database, Volunteero, is up to date

Other duties

· Contribute content for social media, fundraising newsletters, publications and local media to support marketing objectives and increase our engagement with adopters, supporters and donors online

· Keep up to date with sector trends and developments in community and regional fundraising, and volunteering

· Ensure all fundraising activities and events operate within best practice and regulatory guidelines and comply with health and safety requirements.

· Act as a champion for fundraising compliance across the organisation, including ensuring adherence to the Fundraising Regulator’s Code of Fundraising Practice, the General Data Protection Act and PECR, and other relevant legislative requirements.

· Manage any complaints from supporters efficiently and sensitively

· Act as a collaborative role model to the wider team, and build strong working relationships with colleagues across the wider charity to be an internal ambassador for Fundraising and Marketing

Job Purpose

The Public Affairs Lead sits within our Policy and Advocacy Team, working to build support for The Food Foundation’s work amongst Parliamentarians and to influence the government to help deliver policies that will transform the food system.  This is an exciting opportunity to join a small organisation delivering big impact on the political agenda around food. 

The Public Affairs Manager reports to our Head of Policy and Advocacy and will be responsible for planning and delivering our public affairs activity. You will spend considerable time meeting MPs and Peers in parliament and building relationships with their teams with a view to identifying potential new supporters and ensuring that The Food Foundation has a range of contacts that we can call on to support and amplify our policy asks and to raise issues when required. 

While this role is focused on political engagement, you will work closely with policy and research colleagues and with our communications team to share perspectives on which priorities it may be tactical to pursue at any given time and to understand what evidence is available to inform engagement.

You will also work closely with public affairs professionals in other organisations to deliver joint programmes of engagement work which leverage respective organisational strengths.

You will have excellent political instincts and a strong interest in policy developments, monitoring closely what is going on in Parliament and in Government, and keeping abreast of the latest developments in order to identify opportune moments to maximise political attention on the issues we work on and to galvanise support for policy change. 

You will work with our communications team to build compelling narratives targeted at different political stakeholders about the impacts of the food system on our diets, our health and our planet, and the need for evidence-based solutions.   In the current parliamentary term we expect a major focus of activity to be on securing a White Paper and then A Bill on food system change.

You will lead on developing and commissioning a range of briefing materials and reports for policy audiences and formulate responses on behalf of the organisation to policy development processes and Parliamentary inquiries.

You will think creatively about methods and opportunities for engagement in order to ensure that The Food Foundation’s messages and priorities are noticed and heard by policy-makers in a very crowded policy space, including by working closely with our events manager to deliver impactful parliamentary events.

You will bring a learning mindset to the role, assessing the impact of our policy engagement approaches in order to make continuous improvements.

The role will be a fulfilling blend of planning engagement campaigns, developing the materials and monitoring tools to enable delivery, and the practical task of developing personal relationships with key stakeholders.

A week in the job will look like: meeting with a Peer that is new to our work to brief them on evidence we have published and our current political priorities, completing a political stakeholder mapping exercise for a new campaign on sustainable diets to identify a shortlist of MPs to engage with, spending an afternoon in parliament to engage informally with passing MPs, pitching a new idea for a parliamentary inquiry to parliamentary staff from the Health and Social Care Committee, drafting an MP briefing for an upcoming debate on the Government’s obesity prevention priorities, reviewing next week’s parliamentary calendar to spot opportunities for engagement, attending a roundtable to share intelligence and discuss priorities for political party manifestos with other NGOs working on food issues, ringing round parliamentary offices to confirm attendance for an upcoming parliamentary reception, meeting with an MP that is closely involved with The Food Foundation’s work to refine messaging for an upcoming campaign.
