About the role

The Centre for Ageing Better is looking for a talented Deputy Director to lead on work, retirement and transitions. Overseeing a programme of research, policy development, influencing activity and a growing employer network you will be leading our work to ensure equitable access to decent work for those aged 50+.

We are looking for someone with a good understanding of the UK labour market policy and the implications and opportunities for those aged 50+. You will be skilled at developing strategy and leading a multi-disciplinary team to translate it into an impactful programme of work. You will be comfortable working externally to build relationships and make the case for change to policy makers, potential funders and in the media, and you will bring research expertise and experience of developing and delivering research projects using a variety of methods.

About the Role

This is a varied and rewarding opportunity for someone with strong finance and administrative skills. Working closely with the Finance Manager and Office Manager, you will support the organisation by:

· Processing donations, direct debits, Gift Aid claims, invoices and payment runs

· Maintaining accurate records using QuickBooks and Raiser’s Edge

About You

You will have at least three years’ experience in finance or administrative role, with strong organisational skills and a high level of attention to detail. You will be confident working with numbers and have good written English and communication skills. Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, Word, and Outlook, is essential, and experience with finance systems such as QuickBooks, Sage, or Xero would be highly beneficial.

Ideally, you will have experience working in the charity or not-for-profit sector, and familiarity with customer relationship management (CRM) systems like Raiser’s Edge would be an advantage. You should be comfortable working with people from diverse cultural and national backgrounds, and able to manage your workload effectively as part of a supportive team. A genuine interest in the work of USPG and alignment with our Christian ethos is essential for this role.

Over the past decade Pembroke House’s activities in Walworth have grown considerably, with annual turnover rising from £200k to £1 million. Further growth is expected as a result of a new strategy anchored around five 10-year commitments to the neighbourhood, consolidation of our activities across two community buildings and continuing to build wide-ranging partnerships in Walworth.

We are looking for an experienced and skilled financial professional who can steward us through this crucial period of development.  You will be someone who combines a passion for our mission, a keen eye for detail and a flair for interpreting financial information and supporting non-specialists to make sound financial decisions. 

Days will be varied spanning everything from helping budget holders report to funders; preparing accurate financial reports and management accounts; to creating the budgets and frameworks for long-term financial planning. The rest of the core finance team comprises a Bookkeeper and a pro bono Payroll Officer based in Pembroke College, Cambridge. Other members of the team manage petty cash, look after the room hire business (including invoicing and credit control) and administer pensions. 

The trustee’s Finance and Risk Subcommittee formed two years ago and a new trustee position of Treasurer is currently being recruited. The Finance Manager will service and attend the subcommittee’s quarterly meetings and be the main contact point with the Treasurer between meetings.

As a new role there will be plenty of opportunity to mould finance operations across the organisation. Finance systems are currently in place, and have satisfied the auditor over the past few years, but there remains scope for improvement, including through automation and upskilling of the wider team.

About Pembroke House

Pembroke House is a centre for social action and residential community in Walworth, south-east London. 

We were founded in 1885, by students from Pembroke College, Cambridge, as one of the first settlement houses. Shocked by growing poverty and inequality, the pioneers of the settlement movement sought a new approach: taking up residence to live, work and solve problems alongside local communities. We continue to share a building with St Christopher’s church, which has its routes in the same student settlement.

As Charity Manager, you'll lead and guide All Ways Network (AWN) to achieve its charitable goals. This role involves working closely with the Board of Trustees to drive the charity’s strategic plans, manage operations, and build strong relationships with stakeholders. You'll play a pivotal part in scaling the organisation and overseeing its day-to-day functions, while fostering a supportive and productive environment for staff. 

Key Responsibilities: 

Leadership & Operations: 

• Oversee daily operations, ensuring smooth running of all charity functions. 

• Manage and lead a growing team, providing support and guidance. 

• Lead recruitment, staff development, and HR management in collaboration with the Board. 

• Ensure compliance with internal policies and manage organisational risks. 

• Develop and monitor operational systems to track progress and outcomes of key initiatives. 

• Foster a positive and growth-oriented work environment, helping staff realise their potential. 

Board Collaboration & Strategic Planning: 

• Work closely with the Board to implement AWN’s strategic and operational plans. 

• Assist with budget management, resource allocation, fundraising, and grant management. 

• Take charge of the Annual Report and related documentation, ensuring compliance with Charity Commission requirements. 

• Support the Board in maintaining effective governance, including updating key policy documents (e.g. risk register). 

External Representation & Stakeholder Engagement: 

• Represent AWN at stakeholder and partnership meetings, building and maintaining key relationships aligned with strategic goals. 

• Support the team in managing partnerships and providing strategic advice on project delivery. 

• Attend relevant events outside office hours and weekends when necessary.

• Undertake additional duties as required in line with the role and organisational changes. 

Person Specification: 

Essential: 

• Strong organisational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities. 

• Independent worker who takes initiative and manages tasks efficiently. 

• Proven experience in operations management, with a track record of improving processes and productivity. 

• Familiarity with charity legislation, guidelines, and best practices. 

• Experience in building relationships with internal and external stakeholders. 

• Confidence in public speaking and representing AWN at external events. 

• Ability to support staff development and align team goals with AWN’s strategic vision. 

• Flexible and open to role development. 

• Strategic thinking, with clear communication of AWN’s vision. 

• Experience in managing remote teams effectively. 

• Knowledge of the Muslim community and their needs in the UK. 

• Understanding of the not-for-profit sector, particularly Muslim-led charities. 

• Background in the charity sector, particularly in operations management. 

• Experience with grant making, funding, and resource allocation. 

• Knowledge of GDPR, data protection, and the regulatory landscape for charities.

The requirement

The Innovation Fund & Project Manager will join our team to run our innovation fund and to manage projects designed and created by BDF staff members to improve the lives of disabled people in society more widely.

The Innovation Fund & Project Manager will also work across teams to help design and manage the creation of various new products and services. In addition, they will work closely with the CEO to scope out and deliver a specific project to increase the number of disabled people who are Non-Executive Directors and advisers to boards.

• Experience of delivering high quality projects on time and within budget.
• Influencing skills and the ability to support and motivate others to meet project milestones and deadlines.
• Excellent time management and prioritisation skills to manage competing priorities and deliver work on time.

As an organisation BDF are a hybrid working organisation, though remote working would be an option.

Overall Purpose of the Trusts & Foundations Manager

The Trusts and Foundations Manager is an exciting new role and will join our small but expanding Guts UK fundraising team.  Trusts and Foundations is a relatively new income stream for us, with real potential.  

• You will be responsible for prospecting, soliciting, developing, engagement and stewardship while retaining key relationships with trust and foundations in line with Guts UK’s strategic framework.

Rural Community Manager

An exciting opportunity for a dynamic, community-driven Rural Manager to lead rural development across Hertfordshire and help shape the future of sustainable countryside living.

Position: Rural Manager
Location: Hybrid, home-based with one day a week in the Hertford office.
Salary: £32,000 per annum

As Rural Manager, you’ll lead a range of community-led projects that strengthen Hertfordshire’s rural infrastructure and support sustainable living. You'll be the key voice for rural communities, working directly with residents, local councils, and statutory partners to drive forward initiatives from concept to delivery and long-term sustainability.

Your work will span everything from facilitating rural housing projects to conducting Asset Based Community Development mapping, and from advising parish councils to managing grant applications and training sessions. This is a hands-on role with a meaningful legacy. Act as the voice of Rural Hertfordshire to statutory bodies, guiding policy decisions to incorporate and consider the unique needs of rural communities.

About you:
You’ll be a self-starter with a passion for rural life and community development. You will also bring:

• Experience in rural community work or development.
• A successful track record in partnership building and multi-agency collaboration.
• Experience with funding applications and project delivery.
• Excellent communication skills and a proactive, strategic mindset.
• A full UK driving licence and access to your own vehicle.
• Level 3 qualifications including A-levels or international Baccalaureate diploma, Level 3 NVQ, Level 3 National Diploma or Certificate, Advanced Apprenticeship or equivalent experience in a relevant field would be desirable.
• Knowledge of rural policy, asset-based community development, and digital communications would also be desirable.
