To do this, we are seeking a Commercial Sales Manager to join our Commercial Sales team to be at the forefront of our commercial strategy, driving revenue and profitability across our range of commercial activities.  

Playing a key part in managing and developing client relationships, this role is ideal for someone who thrives on building relationships. It’s a pivotal role with a focus on diversifying and increasing our income, identifying new business opportunities whilst ensuring the sales strategy is aligned with charity goals.

This is a visible, field-based role with a requirement to travel across the UK, working closely across the charity with other team members and externally with our partners, ensuring efforts are aligned, providing feedback to influence our product and service offerings.

To be successful in this role you will have:

• the ability to analyse markets trends and competitor activity, proactively identifying new and exciting opportunities for us to explore

This role will work across the UK and therefore a flexible approach is required to support our commercial activities and there will be some occasional evening and weekend working as required within the scope of the role.

You’ll work closely with our Development Director and project leads, playing a central role in securing the resources that power our investigations. About the role

We are the UK’s largest independent non-profit investigative newsroom. Our reporting is published by media partners around the world and holds power to account across five areas: environment, health, big tech, dirty money and local power.

This role will manage 2–3 of our editorial teams, providing strategic fundraising support to help them deliver journalism that drives real-world change. While the exact portfolio will be confirmed with the successful candidate, the role will initially support 2-3 of our core teams and may also contribute to work on emerging issues such as mis- and disinformation and its impact on UK communities.

Our teams include:

• Bureau Local: Works with communities across the UK to uncover hidden stories and drive accountability. Recent work includes exposing the exploitation of migrant workers, running a community-led investigation shaped by the Trans+ community, and bringing vital transparency to the family courts through reporting and mentoring.

• Enablers: Investigates the lawyers, accountants and financial structures that enable corruption and allow illicit finance to flow through the UK. Their reporting has prompted major regulatory investigations and scrutiny.

• Big Tech: Scrutinises the power and influence of major technology companies, examining issues such as moderator working conditions, surveillance, algorithmic harms, digital rights and the impact of AI on society. Their reporting has informed safety measures, supported litigation, and strengthened public understanding of how tech shapes our lives.

• Environment: Investigates the environmental and human impacts of resource extraction, climate finance and the actions of powerful corporations. Their reporting has contributed to changes in corporate practices and prompted customers to take action - including leaving their banks.

• Global Health: Examines the systems that shape access to healthcare, the safety and quality of medicines, and the influence of corporate and political interests on global health outcomes. The team has briefed the WHO and medical practitioners, ensuring their findings inform policy and frontline practice.

Our fundraising

The Bureau is almost entirely funded through grants and donations – without our supporters, we couldn’t do what we do. Over recent years, we’ve grown to a team of 35 people with an annual income of £2.8m, backed by a committed network of trusts, foundations, and individuals.

This is an exciting time to join our fundraising team as we build on those strong relationships and explore new ways to diversify our income.

Responsibilities

• Work with project leads to develop their ideas into a strong case for support, translating complex issues into powerful, accessible narratives for funders.

• Manage relationships with existing funders, ensuring timely reporting, effective stewardship and continued support.

• Research and develop a pipeline of new prospects.

• Write compelling proposals and applications to secure new grants.

• Collaborate with our other Fundraising Manager, who leads on the remaining themes, and provide support in those areas when needed.

• Support the Bureau in identifying ways to diversify our income, such as helping to grow our major donor programme.

• Work closely with colleagues across the Bureau - from reporters and impact producers to operations and finance – and play an active part in maintaining a collaborative, supportive workplace culture.

• Pitch in on a range of fundraising tasks, big and small, to keep the Bureau in the best position to deliver its journalism.

Skills and experience

• Fundraising track record: 5+ years’ experience raising significant money for charities or non-profits, especially from foundations (HNW experience a bonus).

• Researcher and analyst: skilled at identifying new funding opportunities.

• Creative and resourceful: able to think beyond simple metrics to make a powerful case for impact.

Experience securing funds for journalism, social justice, civil society, or human rights is desirable but not essential. People with experience raising funds for campaigning or rights-based work may be especially well-suited.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

Managing people operations and advisory support

· Support managers with employee relations advice and guidance (informal and formal people processes), acting as a trusted expert on all people policy and process matters.

· Oversee the employee lifecycle from recruitment through to leaving The Charity, ensuring inclusive, legally compliant and engaging processes throughout each stage.

· Lead recruitment campaigns and talent attraction, writing compelling adverts and building a diverse talent pipeline.

· Manage onboarding and induction processes to ensure a positive first 100 days at The Charity.

· Oversee the communication and administration of policies, contracts, payroll changes, and compliance checks (Right to Work, DBS, references).

· Partner with People & Culture team members to plan and deliver initiatives relating to wellbeing, performance, reward and recognition, and EDI.

· Maintain accurate records on PeopleHR (our HR database) and Team Tailor (our Applicant Tracking System), ensuring compliance with employment law and GDPR.

Managing volunteering operations

· Lead the operational plan with respect to volunteering, ensuring volunteering supports departmental priorities. This will include acting as the central point of contact for volunteering operations, providing guidance, support and inspiration to teams and volunteers on volunteering policy and process.

· Oversee the recruitment, induction and training of volunteers, working with the People Operations Officer, Senior Learning Officer and People Administrator, developing digital and in-person learning resources. This will include promoting volunteering opportunities internally and externally, ensuring clear and engaging communications.

· Develop recognition initiatives to ensure volunteers feel valued and connected, including campaigns such as Volunteers’ Week and Trustees’ Week, working alongside the Internal Communications Manager role.

· Support Volunteer Coordinators across teams with advice, training and problem-solving to ensure a consistently excellent volunteer experience.

· Ensure volunteering activity is safe and aligned with safeguarding, risk and data protection standards through ensuring policies and procedures are up to date and compliant with legislation.

· Manage the volunteer management system (Volunteero) and use data and feedback to evaluate and improve the volunteer experience.

Supporting values-led best practice through our work

· Build strong collaborative relationships with team members across The Charity to maximise the contribution of both employees and volunteers.

The Degrees Initiative is a UK-based NGO that strengthens the capacity of the Global South to evaluate solar radiation modification (SRM), a controversial proposal for reducing some impacts of climate change by reflecting sunlight away from the Earth. Degrees is neutral on whether SRM should ever be used, but we believe that the Global South should be empowered to conduct their own research and to play a central role in SRM discussions. The initiative has been working in different forms for over a decade, and our work receives worldwide coverage and widespread acclaim. 

This is a unique opportunity to inform conversations on SRM in Africa. Rather than lobbying for outcomes, Degrees aims to support informed, independent policymaking by fostering connections between researchers and policymakers and strengthening institutional expertise. Degrees promotes regional research, creates spaces for policy-science dialogue, and supports the dissemination of Global South research.

Responsibilities

The Policy and Engagement Manager, Africa will strengthen the voice of the Global South in discussions and potential negotiations on SRM research and governance with relevance to Africa by connecting experts to policy processes. Accordingly, the successful candidate will: 

• Identify and engage key policy actors (e.g. national delegates and legislators, scientific advisors, intergovernmental officials) in Africa, connecting them to local SRM experts and providing them with information, where appropriate, while remaining neutral regarding the potential use and governance of SRM;
• Work with SRM researchers from the region to support the ongoing development of a coordinated community of experts; 
• Build informal and formal partnerships with like-minded organisations, helping to inform discussions and counter misinformation about climate and SRM.
• Share expertise and experience gained from Africa with staff and researchers and participate, as appropriate, in activities in Asia and the Pacific and Latin America and the Caribbean to gain similar expertise;
• Identify the most impactful international forums and regional SRM discussions, and work to connect local experts into these; 
• Identify a core group of researchers interested in policy engagement, and facilitate and join their participation in governance fora such as the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa, UNFCCC COP, UN Environment Assembly, and meetings of the Convention on Biological Diversity;
• Support the execution and coordination of the Degrees policy engagement strategy in collaboration with other policy and programmatic staff; 
• Contribute to budgeting and alignment with programmes;
• Support monitoring, evaluation and learning (MEL) activities by contributing to tracking, documentation, and reporting of policy engagement outcomes;
• In cooperation with the communications staff, ensure the development of clear, contextualised briefing materials for policy makers and other audiences. 

Race Against Dementia is a global charity founded by three-time Formula 1 World Champion Sir Jackie Stewart OBE to find preventions, treatments and cures for dementia – faster.

We fund and support pioneering early-career scientists around the world, giving them the tools, mentoring and Formula 1-inspired mindset to accelerate breakthroughs. From the UK to the USA, Australia to South Africa, our researchers are rethinking how dementia research is done – applying data science, AI and engineering to neuroscience in bold, collaborative ways.

This role sits within Race Against Dementia’s small Partnerships and Global Growth team, which raises income in the UK and overseas.

Purpose of the Role

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Partnerships Manager. As a skilled relationship-builder, you excel in cultivating partnerships that generate income and drive mutual value whilst contributing to achieving strategic goals. In this dynamic role, you will lead diverse partnerships, playing a pivotal role within our expanding fundraising team.

Collaborating closely with the Director of Partnerships and Global Growth the role leads the development and stewardship of strategic partnerships that deliver meaningful impact. You’ll be responsible for growing our partnership portfolio, delivering impactful campaigns and contributing to the long-term sustainability of the charity. This includes leveraging Race Against Dementia’s strong connections with the Stewart Family, Formula 1, and other world-class partners to create innovative collaborations that enhance visibility, engagement, and fundraising outcomes.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Act as the main liaison for partners, cultivating long-term relationships founded on trust, transparency, and mutual value.
• Maintain and grow partnerships that contribute to Race Against Dementia’s fundraising targets and strategic objectives.
• Collaborate closely with partners to understand their goals, interests, and expectations, crafting customised partnership strategies to effectively address their needs and aspirations.
• Manage and develop each partnership strategy supporting the aim of raising money from businesses as an integral part of the charity’s overall fundraising strategy.
• Develop and maintain a portfolio of new business supporters and secure new income by identifying growth areas and opportunities.
• Ensure that partnership proposals are aligned with partner priorities and funding criteria, effectively communicating the impact and value of our programs and initiatives.
• Contribute to the development of ideas and strategies for growth and impact within the fundraising team.
• Track, analyse and report on fundraising results in the partnership income stream and measure, manage and report performance against agreed metrics.
• Develop and implement joint marketing campaigns with partners to enhance our brand visibility.
• Collaborate with colleagues to create compelling narratives that showcase the impact of Race Against Dementia partnerships, driving awareness and engagement.
• Monitor CSR trends in the media and keep up to date with professional fundraising associations and media regarding fundraising tools and skills development.

• Impaired child development
• Reduced school attendance
• Increased risk of HIV in women
• Infertility

The Role

The purpose of the Director of Funding and Communication role is to secure sustainable financial resources and build a strong, trusted brand that amplifies the organisation’s mission to share evidence and expertise to end parasitic infections in affected communities.

This is a unique opportunity for an exceptional leader in innovative income generation in the international development sector to lead Unlimit Health’s income generation strategy. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing and leading the implementation of comprehensive fundraising strategies to secure diversified income streams, while overseeing compelling storytelling and brand visibility to align fundraising efforts and impactful communications with our strategic priorities.
