Every 20 minutes, someone is killed or seriously injured on UK roads. For families affected, the emotional and practical challenges are immense. As a Caseworker, you will provide direct, trauma-informed care to individuals and families suffering from the sudden bereavement or life-altering injury of a loved one. Working mostly remotely, with home visits to service users, you’ll offer vital emotional and practical support—including helping them access therapeutic resources, financial assistance, and guidance through the complexities of medical and legal processes.

This role is flexible, allowing you to structure your own working pattern within weekdays from 6 AM to 8 PM. While travel is required, you’ll have control over your diary. The work is challenging but immensely rewarding, requiring resilience, empathy, and a dedication to making a real difference in people’s lives.

Key Responsibilities

• Providing direct support to road victims and their families in the Thames Valley region, following Brake’s trauma-informed model of care.
• Managing a caseload of service users, ensuring their emotional, practical, and advocacy needs are met.
• Undertaking comprehensive needs assessments and creating individualised support plans
• Offering emotional and practical support—this can include helping families access therapeutic resources, financial aid, or even facilitating keepsakes to honour the memory of their loved ones
• Liaising with professionals, including police officers, Family Liaison Officers, mental health services, coroners, GPs, and other support organisations.
• Advocating for victims within medical, legal, and social services to ensure their voices are heard.
• Providing support through multiple channels, including in-person, remote calls, video chats, and messaging, depending on service user preferences.
• Completing safeguarding assessments and escalating concerns to the Designated Safeguarding Lead when needed.
• Maintaining accurate case records in compliance with data protection policies.
• Engaging in external clinical supervision to manage personal resilience and well-being.
• Participating in team meetings, training, and professional development to ensure the highest standard of service delivery.

Essential Requirements:

Context of Role

Our client supports anyone affected by the sudden and unexpected death of a child or young person aged 25 and under. They provide immediate casework support, as well as ongoing services including counselling, complementary therapies, play therapy, coffee mornings, support events and a respite cottage.

As they continue to expand their services across England the successful candidate will play a central role in the ongoing development of their relationships with stakeholders. Initiative and drive play an integral part of ensuring their professional stakeholders remain engaged and champion their service to those they support. The post holder will provide immediate and ongoing emotional and practical support to families, friends, witnesses and professionals affected by the sudden death of a child or young adult.

Main Duties include:

• To initiate immediate support for a caseload of families whose children and young people aged 0-25 have died suddenly and unexpectedly across the county you reside in and bordering counties.
• Complete an initial assessment of families' needs to identify and plan the support as required in line with safeguarding and risk reduction.
• Offer emotional support and advice to a case load of families through home visits and ongoing weekly telephone calls.
• To liaise with the Counselling Support and Outreach Coordinator, who is responsible for organising formal support such as counselling, complementary therapy or play therapy, subject to consent from the bereaved individual.
• To work with hospital staff, GP’s, police officers, coroner offices, mental health teams and other healthcare professionals to raise awareness of and promote referrals into the charity from the county you reside in and bordering counties.
• To deliver awareness training in hospitals and other healthcare settings, schools and workplaces on the use of the bereavement boxes, the services they offer, how to refer into the charity and bereavement awareness.
• To ensure families have been offered a memory box and coordinate these when required.
• Facilitate debriefs within professional settings following a traumatic or sudden death of a child or young person.
• To work with hospital trusts to establish and maintain the upkeep of suitable bereavement suites for bereaved individuals to use as required.

Experience:

• Experience of working in a health, social care or emergency setting.
• Experience of working with people in distress.
• Experience of working with vulnerable people, including families and/or children.

Knowledge:

• Ensure every Emergency Department and Critical Care unit has a suitable bereavement suite

• Provide a professional counselling service and other therapies for those affected by the sudden death of a child or young person

We work in partnership with professionals who refer into the charity on behalf of the families, so they don’t have to trawl through the internet for an organisation who may, or may not, be able to support. We provide immediate, and ongoing, support and are here for as long as our families need us.

• To work with hospital staff, GP’s, police officers, coroner offices, mental health teams and other healthcare professionals to raise awareness of and promote referrals into the charity from the county you reside in and bordering counties
• To liaise with other professionals working alongside the family to provide a holistic and multiagency approach to support
• Attend relevant forums within the area
• To deliver awareness training in hospitals and other healthcare settings, schools and workplaces on the use of the bereavement boxes, the services we offer, ho to refer into the charity and bereavement awareness
• To ensure families have been offered a memory box and coordinate these when required
• Facilitate debriefs within professional settings following a traumatic or sudden death of a child or young person

• Maintain stock of 2wish memory boxes and deliver boxes to partner organisations as required
• To submit monthly/quarterly/annual reports to Bereavement Services Manager as required

• Cover members of the support team for annual leave and/or sickness
• To travel to attend in-person team meetings and in-person training as required
• To travel to in-person events as required

General:

• To be responsible for organising own work agenda, time management and administration
• To show respect and sensitivity for the cultural and religious beliefs of families
• To undertake learning opportunities and seek them out for the team
• To adhere to all company policies and procedures including Safeguarding, Confidentiality, Health and Safety and Lone Working; and to be proactive in implementing new safe working practices as appropriate

Job Purpose:

To provide operational management of the Substance Misuse Through-the-Gate (SMTTG) programme, which supports Lambeth and Southwark women in custody and their transition back into the community. As Marketing & Volunteer Coordinator you’ll play a central role in connecting our internal operations with the wider community. You’ll lead on delivering engaging marketing and communications to a range of stakeholders, including funders, corporate partners, community members, and volunteers. At the same time, you’ll manage and support our growing team of volunteers - helping to build a strong, committed network that powers our work.

For 16 years, we've been bridging the gap between school and work and improving social mobility for young people in underserved schools.

Educational inequalities are vast, and the widening disadvantage gap is diminishing social mobility progress. We work with amazing partners across the rail industry, financial services, professional services, technology companies and healthcare to deliver free, industry-focused, skills workshops to enhance opportunities for young people (aged 9-18+).

Each year we support 60,000 young people thanks to our transformational industry partnerships and their volunteers’ engagement across lightbulb moments in schools, through to intensive connections with employers.

The Programme Manager role

Due to the continued expansion and sustainability of our programmes, we are seeking a new team member to support our next period of growth into the 2025-2026 academic year.

You will be a consumate account manager to support our skills and employability programmes designed in partnership with industry. You will work collaboratively with our corporate and industry partners to support teachers and students in schools and further education institutions access a range of TTF educational programmes.

What you will be doing

• Management of multiple projects and events
• Team management to deliver programmes (proven experience of line managing direct reports)
• Building exceptional relationships with partners, teachers and volunteers
• Use systems and administrative processes
• Evaluation and reporting

To succeed in this role you will be an individual who thrives in a fast-paced working environment, be highly organised, a professional communicator, and not be fazed when you need to adapt your plans to meet schools’ needs (you will always have a plan B).

• £35,000 salary
• Full time (37.5 hrs per week)

*Hybrid working

This is a hybrid role. You will be working from home and will join Team Together Days in a co-working space in London 2-3 individual days each month. These days are considered commuting days. You do not need to live in London to apply for this role, but you will need to consider what you feel is a reasonable commuting distance and to be able to attend our team days in London. This post will support adults in Lewisham who are experiencing cancer treatment and want to take proactive steps to get and stay well. Depending on the goals they set for themselves, you will introduce them to exercise classes, adult learning opportunities, social groups and other wellbeing opportunities to keep their minds focused on the future and getting better.

You’ll work directly with people living with cancer to:

• Complete Holistic Needs Assessments (HNAs)
• Co-create Personalised Care and Support Plans
• Connect individuals to local wellbeing, mental health, and community services
• Break down barriers to access for those often left behind
