THE ROLE
We have a fantastic opportunity to join us in the position of Project Development Co-ordinator, to work on either a full or part time basis. Job Share applications are also welcome.
Covering the operational, strategic and delivery of work across the Eastern region we are looking for a Project Development Co-ordinator to operate across the counties of Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire, Essex, Hertfordshire, Norfolk and Suffolk. Travel within and occasionally outside these regions will be a necessity.
This post provides an exciting and rewarding opportunity to supervise, deliver and lead on our stakeholder and community engagement to support the delivery of NEA’s work programme. The role will help deliver projects that can change lives, particularly during the energy crisis.
NEA’s project work aims to bring improvements to the health and wellbeing of low income and vulnerable householders, through one-to-one advice, group awareness sessions, upskilling and sharing of best practice.
Delivering on a range or projects, which demonstrate good practice in delivery of affordable warmth for low income and vulnerable householders, you will understand and drive the development of partnerships working with local authorities, housing providers, and various other partners.
You will oversee the delivery of project outputs and outcomes, delivering energy and fuel debt advice directly to householders and be responsible for the preparation of reports to funders including collation of evidence of outcomes achieved, maintaining relationships with a network of stakeholders across a region.
You will also work with the Project Development Manager to identify and develop new programmes of work, including preparation of funding applications, presentation of funding proposals to relevant funding bodies and to ensure effective liaison of NEA’s work programme with other activities within NEA.
WHAT YOU WILL NEED TO SUCCEED
You will have demonstrable experience of developing and/or managing projects in the fields of energy efficiency, community development and regeneration, housing, social policy or consumer issues.
It is important that you have an awareness of the environmental, social and economic problems of deprived areas and the roles of the public, private and voluntary sectors in tackling them.
You will need good organisational skills, as well as excellent written and communication skills, as you will maintain appropriate records and data, and produce regular written reports on project progress.
You will be an excellent communicator, with experience and understanding of how to effectively address the energy needs of low income, vulnerable or disadvantaged householders - with the desire to make a positive difference to people’s lives.
Knowledge of energy efficiency, particularly within the domestic sector and community buildings, is desirable.

WE ARE OFFERING:
- £33,931 to £38,594 (Points 23 – 28) (plus £3,300 London Weighting if applicable). New appointments are usually made at the starting point of the scale.

We are working in partnership with SongBird Survival, an independent charity working to solve the ecological crisis for songbirds through scientific research, to secure their new Scientific Research and Impact Manager.
Since 2000, SongBird Survival has been fighting for a better future for UK songbirds, and they are the only national UK charity solely dedicated to make a positive impact for songbirds in the face of this devastating ecological emergency. Their goals are to drive impactful conservation through scientific research, protect songbirds by raising awareness and inspiring action, and safeguarding the most at-risk songbird species in the UK. SongBird Survival do this by commissioning independent scientific research into the causes of the catastrophic decline in songbird numbers, translating research findings into actionable strategies, which aim to make a tangible difference in the protection and preservation of songbird populations. The Scientific Research and Impact Manager role is at the heart of SongBird Survival’s mission, ensuring that their research not only advances scientific understanding but also influences policy change, engages stakeholders, and strengthens communications and fundraising strategies. The successful candidate must be able to demonstrate:

CAFOD’s mission in the Catholic community of England and Wales is to inspire and equip Catholics to actively engage in the Church’s efforts to overcome poverty and injustice. Our regional teams focus on recruiting and supporting a dedicated group of volunteers within parish and school communities, empowering them to educate, engage, and inspire others to act in solidarity for the common good. The primary purpose of this role is to provide administrative and communications support to the Community Participation Coordinators across England and Wales, with a focus on the West & Wales region as the first point of contact. This includes coordinating administrative tasks performed by office volunteers and identifying opportunities for process improvements. The Degrees Initiative is a UK-based NGO that builds the capacity of developing countries to evaluate solar radiation modification (SRM), a controversial proposal for reducing some impacts of climate change by reflecting sunlight away from the Earth. Degrees is neutral on whether SRM should ever be used, but we believe that developing countries should be empowered to conduct their own research and to play a central role in SRM discussions.
This is a unique opportunity to shape global conversations on climate science by empowering researchers in developing countries to publish and communicate their work, collaborating with some of the world’s leading SRM experts.
The Scientific Writing and Publishing Lead will play a key role in supporting researchers in the Global South to communicate their findings effectively and contribute to the global SRM conversation. Working within the Programmes team, reporting to the Programmes Director, and in cooperation with the Communications team, the Scientific Writer will collaborate closely with research teams and external partners. Responsibilities will include:
1. Support researchers with scientific writing and publishing
- Develop guidance materials on topics such as structuring research papers, writing abstracts, and best practices for peer-reviewed publication.
- Train and support researchers to develop, refine, and publish scientific manuscripts through one-on-one and group training sessions and technical editing and feedback.
- In collaboration with the Staff Scientist, help build climate researchers’ capacity to prepare and communicate their findings to different audiences.
- Advise research teams on scientific publishing norms, including peer review, and open-access publishing.
- Support researchers in choosing appropriate journals and navigating the submission and review process.
- Assist researchers in adapting their work for public and policy-facing communication channels, ensuring clarity and accessibility.
2. Lead and coordinate reports and publications
- Serve as the lead coordinator for a recurring international scientific report, overseeing contributions from multiple researchers and ensuring deadlines are met.
- Act as a writer for key sections of the report, synthesising insights from researchers into a compelling and scientifically rigorous narrative.
- Work closely with stakeholders and coordinate peer review and fact-checking to ensure the report’s accuracy, consistency, and accessibility.
3. Support Degrees’ scientific communication and outreach
- Collaborate with the communications team to ensure that external materials such as blog posts, website content, policy briefs and media articles are scientifically accurate and up to date.
- Work with the policy engagement teams to develop scientific summaries and briefings for a range of stakeholders.
- Keep Degrees staff and researchers abreast of new techniques for communicating research results to a range of stakeholders and training them how to use them.

Core responsibilities within your role will be to:
- Work with the Head of Policy and Public Affairs to set up a new press office function for AdviceUK.
- Shape proactive, impactful media plans as well as responding to reactive media inquiries.

About the role
The DAPO Project Manager will work closely with the DAPO Programme Manager and SafeLives Finance Manager to support the successful delivery of the programme and maintain effective commissioning relationships with service providers across each pilot area. On 20th August 2011, Flt Lt Jon Egging lost his life whilst completing a display at the Bournemouth Air Festival. He was coming to the end of his first year with the world-famous Royal Air Force Aerobatic Team, the Red Arrows, flying in the position of Red 4.
Jon was an inspirational individual, and inspiration is at the heart of everything we do. Like Jon, our staff and volunteers are chosen for their ability to act as positive role models; in turn they inspire and enthuse our vulnerable young students to reach their full potential. Our long-term support programmes increase self-confidence, self-esteem and aspiration, and ultimately empower young people to become role models within their own communities.
The Jon Egging Trust realises Jon’s dream of inspiring young people through his love of aviation, STEM, teamwork and leadership, helping them to overcome adversity, identify their strengths and work towards their dreams.
