Location: Home-based/Field based covering London and South-East England. Candidates need to be based in this region or within 20 miles of patch due to business need. This region will cover as far north as Luton, as far east as Canterbury, as far south as Brighton and as far west as Newbury. • Using data to make value insights about our partners performance, making recommendations for improvement and exploring opportunities for building and deepening partnerships

• Being responsible for delivering regional activity for Legal Professionals, including regular partnership review meetings and CPD events

The Role

• This role ensures the efficient delivery of a comprehensive residential rehabilitation programme with emphasis on supporting residents’ transition to independent living within their community.

Background

Congenital Heart Disease affects 1 in 125 newborn babies, it is the most common condition at birth. Around 17,000 babies, children and adults are treated by the Leeds Congenital Heart Unit (LCHU) every year. The LCHU is the specialist heart centre for all of Yorkshire, The Humber, North East Lincolnshire and North Derbyshire.

Children’s Heart Surgery Fund (CHSF) provide tailored emotional, financial and practical support and essential resources to heart patients and their families. When families need us most, CHSF provide parent accommodation close to the hospital and a dedicated family support service during a child’s treatment. CHSF also provide vital medical equipment and resources to the Leeds Congenital Heart Unit and 19 regional clinics, including start-up NHS staff roles and specialist training across the network.

CHSF is a completely self-funded charity. Together, we are able to nurture a wonderful community of children, young people, adults and their families affected by congenital heart disease to live empowered lives.

Job Summary

As Fundraising Researcher you'll be responsible for proactively researching potential funders including corporate foundations and community funds, charitable trusts and other organisations to support our ambitious fundraising team. Working closely with the Trusts & Foundations Manager and Corporate Partnership Managers you'll ensure fundraising activity is supported across the organisation with robust research.

Role and Responsibilities

1. Research and identify charitable trusts and foundations, corporate, government and other funding opportunities that align with CHSF’s mission, vision and values.

2. Use prospect research tools and techniques to collate detailed prospect information e.g. business insider bulletins, directories, websites, AI etc.

3. Compile key information about each funding opportunity, including deadlines, eligibility criteria, application questions, and funder priorities, in a structured format.

4. Assist in reviewing and prioritising potential funding opportunities based on suitability for CHSF.

5. Support with impact monitoring and reporting to funders and corporate partners, including liaising with staff at the Leeds Congenital Heart Unit to collect information.

6. Organise and archive past grant applications, ensuring a structured and accessible digital filing system.

7. Support the team by keeping funding research up to date and easy to access for future applications.

8. Collaborate with finance/fundraising teams to ensure grant research aligns with fundraising priorities.

9. Work with the Marketing Team to promote funding received to meet the requirements of the funder.

10. Strong understanding of due diligence, data protection and fundraising regulations.

Job Title: Data & Administrative Officer

Purpose of the Role 

The HR Manager plays a key leadership role, working on, and closely with, the management team to ensure effective HR support across the organisation. Militaries are major contributors to the climate crisis but it remains unclear how large their greenhouse gas emissions are because reporting under domestic and international frameworks is often voluntary or incomplete.

Since 2021, CEOBS and our international network of academic and civil society partners have played an important role in drawing attention to this data gap. Our Military Emissions Gap project works to communicate the scale of the reporting gap, to mainstream the topic in climate and military spaces, and to help create the conditions whereby the emissions from military activities and armed conflicts are properly documented and understood. We work with a wide range of stakeholders, from militaries, academia and the media, to policy makers and peace groups.

Research is vital to the project, underpinning all of our advocacy and awareness-raising activities and, thanks to recent grant funding we are now in a position to create a dedicated post for the project.

The role

You will work with our Climate Advocacy Coordinator, Director and academic partners to produce and contribute to unique research on military and conflict emissions, military-related climate impacts, and comparative studies on civil mitigation and decarbonisation strategies. The position is an excellent opportunity for an inquisitive, creative and conscientious environmental professional, with sound climate literacy and experience in carbon accounting, environmental reporting standards, and ESG policies and performance.

Core responsibilities

• Monitoring the rapidly evolving landscape of military climate mitigation strategies and reporting.

• Keeping up-to-date with emerging good practice on carbon and environmental reporting standards.

• Identifying research opportunities and generating and implementing research projects, both independently and in collaboration with partners. 

• Contributing to the development of advocacy campaigns.

• Engaging with our diverse range of collaborative partners, including militaries, government representatives, NGOs and academics.

• Seeking new networking opportunities and relationships.

• Representing CEOBS at domestic and international events.

• Providing support to the Climate Advocacy Coordinator.

• Following relevant environmental trends and dynamics and their intersection with the military sector and climate change.

Essential requirements

• A good degree in the field of environmental sciences and a minimum of 5 years experience working as an environmental professional.

• Demonstrated experience in carbon accounting. 

• Be able to demonstrate technical ability and the capacity to remain updated with emerging issues and standards. 

• Proven research skills, a keen eye for detail and the ability to communicate complex topics clearly to different audiences.

• Excellent written and spoken English.

• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills and comfortable engaging and networking with a diverse range of stakeholders.

• The ability to work independently and as part of a team.

• Able to undertake domestic and international travel.

• Be eligible to work in the UK.

Desirable requirements

• Postgraduate qualification in a relevant field.

About the Role

Key duties and responsibilities

• Provide court representation for clients, including emergency actions, by attending hearings at Liverpool Civil and Family Court.
• Prepare and present cases ready for court hearings by checking time limits, adherence to pre action protocols by creditors, completing relevant court forms and checking fees/remissions.
• Negotiate with and signpost/refer to third parties as appropriate.
• Assist client with alternative dispute resolution cases e.g. Financial Ombudsman Service.

About us

The Court Specialist (Housing) Debt Adviser is responsible for providing a quality court representation service for clients facing court proceedings for housing and personal debt, including mortgages, secured and unsecured loans, who are not eligible for housing legal aid.

The project joins a programme funded by the Access to Justice Foundation that aims to sustain and improve access to early social welfare and family legal support and advice, to enable people to resolve these problems as early as possible and avoid the need for court or tribunal proceedings where possible. Where court or tribunal proceedings are needed, the project will provide the support needed to help people navigate the process effectively, including where support to prepare for court and at court is required. The focus of this project will be to provide housing debt court/tribunal support and representation to increase homelessness prevention.

To be successful in this role, you will need to be confident, motivated and willing to try new things, have excellent communication skills with an ability to work under pressure to achieve targets and outcomes with minimum supervision. You will need to have knowledge and experience of complex debt casework, and (county) court money claim, and possession proceedings as well as priority and non-priority debt advice, options and insolvency solutions.

About the Minster Centre

The Minster Centre is a registered charity and company limited by guarantee that provides training in psychotherapy and counselling and an affordable therapy service.

It was founded in 1978 as the first Integrative psychotherapy and counselling training in the UK and is a leading psychotherapy training institution. Now based in Queens Park, NW London, it runs training ranging from open access introductory courses to post-graduate degrees validated by Middlesex University. The Minster Centre caters for around 300 diploma and MA students each year. It is registered with the Office for Students.

The Minster Centre Psychotherapy & Counselling Service (MCPCS) also provides a safe, affordable and professional counselling service to people over the age of 18 who are experiencing a range of difficulties. The service is provided by senior trainees who are in the process of completing their therapy training.

Role purpose

The Minster Centre is seeking to develop and further professionalise its operations and is recruiting to a new Head of Finance role. This is a part-time, flexible role for two days per week in the first instance. Some time in the office will be needed to work alongside other staff and key stakeholders – this can be managed flexibly alongside working from home. The role would therefore suit someone who wants to balance an interesting and senior role alongside other responsibilities or interests.

The Head of Finance will oversee the financial operations of the charity, owning and ensuring compliance to financial policies and procedures. You will provide strategic financial guidance to the Management Committee and contribute to the delivery of the charity’s financial strategies.
