Rights & Security International (RSI) is seeking a Team Leader on International Civic Space to help us take our international work to the next level, especially in Latin America and East Africa. The successful candidate will lead our engagement strategy across Global Majority countries while building and supporting coalitions around country-specific projects.

Fluency in Spanish is required.

Role overview:

After two years of coalition-building with partners, we have developed a network of relationships with human rights activists and groups in El Salvador, Colombia, Brazil, Kenya, Indonesia, the Philippines and elsewhere. We are looking for a strong organiser and human rights advocate to continue building this network and help other groups organise to create impact.

We aim to facilitate civil society groups’ engagement with UN and regional human rights bodies, support grassroots-led research projects through small grants, and facilitate collaborations on shared advocacy projects.

This position reports to the Executive Director and supervises the work of the Eastern Africa Human Rights Assistant (EAHRA).

Person specification:

· Degree in law, human rights, public policy, international development or another relevant field.

· Fluency in spoken and written Spanish as well as English.

· A minimum of 4 years of experience in international human rights advocacy or relevant community organising, including at least some experience in building or leading coalitions.

· Experience in designing and implementing effective plans to achieve reforms.

· Familiarity with the social and political landscape of at least one country in Latin America.

· A record of drafting and publishing human rights analyses or advocacy documents.

· A strong commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion in the workplace, and solid experience of work in multi-cultural environments.  

Optional qualifications:

· Expertise in one or more of the following areas: counter-terrorism issues, climate justice, migrants’ rights, or technology and privacy.

Responsibilities:

· Create and lead advocacy strategies with partners at the national level in countries such as El Salvador, Colombia and Kenya to stop the human rights abuses that governments commit in the name of ‘national security’.

· Oversee a small research grant programme.

· Lead RSI’s role in a major international coalition for civil society on counter-terrorism and human rights.

· Supervise the work of the Eastern Africa Human Rights Assistant.

An opportunity exists for a Researcher Officer to join the Long-term Investors in People’s Health project that aims to transform the investment system for better population-level health. As Senior Research Officer, you will help support the delivery of the charity’s broad portfolio of work. Experience working with a wide range of research activities and outputs across multiple projects is required for this role. What's the role about

This is a key role working alongside our Project Manager and Senior Race Equity specialist to shape our ways of working to be more inclusive. This will include coordinating activities, supporting taskforce members, researching, create content and training materials with support.

The role would suit somebody with strong organisational and communication skills with a background in race equity work who wants to apply these skills in the conservation sector, or someone with demonstrable coordination/administration skills and EDI knowledge and experience that wants to step into the race equity space.

Essential skills, knowledge and experience:

• Experience of coordinating and synchronising resources and people, in the delivery of anti-racist or EDI related activities and events.
• Awareness of the intersectional impact of protected characteristics, the Equality Act 2010 and barriers to people of colour, disabled people and people in other protected groups at work. 
• Experience of generating ideas that relate to EDI topics, creating short written or visual content, making information accessible to different audiences as a blog, video, infographic or other content formats.
• Strong administration and organisational skills, including the ability to manage data or records, manage own time and prioritise, create basic project plans and meet agreed deadlines.
• Experience of Microsoft Teams, Outlook, and calendar or similar
• Strong IT skills across a range of software including knowledge or willingness to learn using SharePoint to a good standard.
• Experience of working with ethnically diverse groups or networks in a workplace or voluntary setting with a coproduction approach.
• Ability to recognise and communicate sensitive topics and consider how differences in background and experience might affect how this needs to be planned and delivered.

About the PVRI
We’re a small charity with a global reach and an important purpose: to reduce the burden of pulmonary vascular disease (PVD) - a serious condition that can lead to heart damage and trigger symptoms like breathlessness, chest pain, fatigue, poor growth, fainting, and light-headedness. PVD can reduce both quality of life and length of life, but it isn’t widely recognised or well-understood.

Our aim is to improve clinical care, education, and PVD research. To do this, we bring together an international network of thousands of clinicians, scientists, academics, and industry partners supported by our small team based in Bermondsey, London. Together, we deliver conferences, e-learning, and an academic journal, raise awareness of PVD, and encourage collaboration in research.

We are seeking a Marketing Officer to help grow and service the charity's international membership, increase the value of our membership offer, increase our income, and deliver our e-learning programmes. One day, you might be writing content for our website and social media channels, and the next, you might be welcoming respected speakers and attendees from over 30 countries to our scientific webinar.

Job Title:  Fundraising Officer

Background:

Central London Samaritans (CLS) is the largest of Samaritans’ 201 branches.

Based in the heart of Soho (*), 450 volunteers deliver the Samaritans service round the clock, every day of the year providing support for anyone struggling to cope. Our core objective is to deliver services that support the Samaritans vision that fewer people will die by suicide. Assisted by a small staff team, volunteers manage over 100,000 contacts a year of which, pre-pandemic, 4,500 were face to face visits.

As well as delivering services in our Marshall Street centre, we also work in the community across seven London boroughs. From providing emotional support for London’s homeless, to running peer-to-peer listener programmes at Brixton prison, and delivering talks and workshops to schools and workplaces, we pride ourselves on the support we give to our community. Our volunteers also offer emotional support following any form of crisis affecting Londoners, such as the London Bridge attacks and the Grenfell Tower fire.

Role description:

Responsible for ensuring the delivery of the community events fundraising plans and activities. You will be managing a select number of events, along with engaging with the community and businesses to develop and implement plans for maximising income and support from individuals, groups and businesses.

Main responsibilities:

• Manage branch Community and Events, taking a lead for specific awareness events and fundraising events or activities.
• Organise events, including liaison with venues, suppliers, monitoring expenditure, volunteers and participants and ensure all preparation is complete.
• Ensure an excellent level of supporter care and stewardship with supporters is maintained and developed.
• Provide regular reports and information about activities, supporters and volunteers.

• Previous experience working in fundraising in either a community, challenge or mass participant event capacity.

Job Purpose:
Oversight of all aspects of the finance of the Irish Chaplaincy: including pay roll, payment of bills, preparation of regular management accounts and the annual budget.

We're looking for a self-motivated individual to join us as a new Legacy Officer and run a demanding caseload of legacies, helping us in the delivery of our ambitious strategy. 

As our Legacy Officer you'll be responsible for the day-to-day administration of legacies in accordance with our policies and strategy. You'll manage your own caseload of largely residuary legacies, working up to include complex and contentious cases. You will answer enquiries from solicitors and individuals in connection with bequests and assist in all matters relating to the department’s work. 

Our Legacy team is sector leading. You’ll have the opportunity to build British Heart Foundation’s (BHF) reputation as a good recipient of legacies and increase BHF’s income from bequests.

Over half of our income comes from people leaving a gift to us in their Will. Charitable legacies are therefore vital to enable us to continue our life-saving research programme to fight cardiovascular disease.

This is a blended role, where your work will be dual located between your home and our London office.

About you

With excellent spoken and written communication skills, able to communicate complex issues clearly and succinctly, you’ll have a willingness to learn and have previous experience working in a fast-paced environment.

The Grants Officer will work in the Grants Team as part of the wider Development Department, to manage a portfolio of grants that fund the organisation’s work.

ClientEarth’s Development Department is responsible for raising and managing funds to enable the organisation to deliver its mission – using the power of the law to bring about systemic change that protects the earth for – and with – its inhabitants. The department is formed of several fundraising strands: a Grants Team and a Business Development Team that manage and secure funding from trusts, foundations, and institutional donors; and a Philanthropy Team, working with a wide range of individuals and organisations to raise primarily unrestricted gifts to support ClientEarth’s work. 

Meet your Manager

In this role you will be managed by our Head of Grants, Eleonora Arcese. Eleonora joined ClientEarth in 2016 and is based in London. She leads the team that manages and stewards ClientEarth’s growing funding portfolio, which includes foundations, trusts and statutory and institutional donors. Prior to joining ClientEarth, she worked for a number of environmental NGOs where she managed a portfolio of projects focused on EU and international climate and energy policy, sustainable development, and conservation.

In her spare time, Eleonora is also a Trustee of the Board of the Hawks and Owls Trust, in the UK. 

Main Duties

• Funding portfolio management - Have a close and in-depth knowledge of their grants portfolio, including a sound understanding of the philanthropic, institutional and statutory funding mix;
• Internal and external communications - Meet with Trust, Foundation and Institution portfolio managers to discuss proposals, provide updates on the programmatic work, and to formally report back on financial, organisational and technical issues; 
• Project management - Effectively manage reporting and the grant renewal process from start to completion including working with multiple teams across ClientEarth’s European and international offices to ensure input from all avenues to complete proposals and reports in a timely and high-quality manner; and 
• Financial planning and budget handling - Work with Finance and Programmes staff to develop individual budgets for funding proposals
• Systems and processes - Maintain funder database systems (Raiser’s Edge) and other organisational databases (SharePoint) on a daily basis

Role requirements

• Experience of working in a grant management or project management role for a charity, NGO, private or public entity
• Experience of reporting to private foundations including trusts
• Experience drafting proposals and securing funding from foundations and other funding institutions
• Experience and knowledge of budgeting, and organisational (e.g. not for profit/charity) finances

About the Senior Uniformed Events Officer role:

We are currently seeking an experienced events professional to join our busy Operations team to coordinate, deliver and promote MSSC uniformed events. Based at our London NSC, the Senior Uniformed Events Officer will be responsible for delivering a series of existing events and for identifying opportunities to expand the event calendar by developing effective strategies and plans designed to maximise the charities profile. The role demands an organised and flexible approach to work including evening and weekends.

Responsibilities as our Senior Uniformed Events Officer will include:

• Ensuring that eventse.g. Armed Forces Day, Trafalgar Day Parade, Belgium Cenotaph Parade, RN Carol Service (and the uniformed elements of other events) are properly organised to produce optimum benefit in raising the profile and maximising the reputation of the charity
• Working alongside other team memberse.g. Events and Competitions Manager in the delivery of nonand uniformed events and support competitions where appropriate
• Effectively liaising with all levels of staff within MSSC departments, areas and both uniformed and non-uniformed personnel within MSSC, to ensure the smooth and safe running of national eventsand your support of national competitions
• Managing MODNET laptops for MSSC employees and limited RN personnel
• Developing uniformed eventsand competition support that, enables, and conforms to the charity’s latest objectives and strategy
• Ensuring that all allocated uniformed events and national competition support undertaken conform to the charities Policies, Procedures and other associated documentation. Including the management of the competitive experience via documented and rules
• Ensuring that both the CSC and DDOps are regularly informed of progress and opportunities thereinand attend regular meetingsand updates as required

Requirements needed to become our Senior Uniformed Events Officer:

• Two years’ experience of managing uniformed events
• Experience of developing and implementing a variety of uniformed events from small intimate receptions to large public facing engagements with a variety of internal and external stakeholders
• Experience/knowledge working in a uniformed youth environment
• Experience of working with volunteers
• Experience of managing complex uniformed events budgets
• Uniformed role with a MOD Sponsored Cadet Force

About the role:

We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced individual with first class communication skills to join the CSP team in Scotland and support them in promoting the profession and empowering members.

Liaising with, and supporting, team members across the CSP, you will assist in running successful external influencing, campaigns and lobbying, as well as organising external events, and managing communications, member networks and training.

Educated to at least A Level standard, or with equivalent experience, you will have exceptional organisational and interpersonal skills, along with proven events management and office management experience. Experience of membership organisations and supporting lobbying or campaigning activities would also be an advantage.
