Job description

Role: Outreach Development Officer (full-time – 37.5 hours a week)

Based: London or South-East England (within 90 mins travel time of central London by public transport)

Location: Home-based with expected travel

Start date: May 2024

Our registered charity number: 298858

Can you play a key part in changing health outcomes for thousands of people across London?

Liver disease is in crisis across the country, with late or missed diagnosis leading to avoidable deaths. There is a lack of awareness and understanding of the range and causes of liver conditions, which needs to change.

The British Liver Trust is the leading UK charity for adults at risk of, or affected by, any type of liver disease and liver cancer.

The outreach team at the British Liver Trust are at the forefront of our public-facing work. We deliver a wide portfolio of patient support, health awareness and promotion and outreach projects.

We are looking for a highly motivated and well-organised Outreach Officer to join our UK-wide team – to facilitate online and in-person patient and family support groups, to engage with other third sector organisations and to build strong relationships with hospitals for the benefit of patients.

About you – you want to make a direct difference in two critical ways - by supporting people with liver disease and by helping us tackle one of the biggest health challenges in the UK.

You have great time-management skills and relish the challenge of delivering a variety of different outreach projects. You communicate with empathy and understanding, have a passion for improving health outcomes, and are adept at self-directed work and playing your part collaboratively in a wider team.

Experience of facilitating support groups is a key requirement for this role.

You must be able to work unsociable hours (some evening and weekend work involved).

About us – “I’ve never worked somewhere where everyone is so onboard and committed, it’s quite inspirational!”  We are a well-motivated team, with excellent job satisfaction and working relationships.

Some of our employee benefits include:

· Life assurance 4x salary from date of employment

· 5% employer pension contribution, rising to 7.5% at 15 months and 10% at 27 months service

· Gifted 3 days paid leave between Christmas and New Year

· Eye-care voucher scheme

· Toothfairy dental support app

· Potential for flexible working

· Extensive, unlimited high quality eLearning training

Visit our website for more information about this role or for help applying, please call our central office number.

Interview date: A first round of online interviews will take place shortly after the closing date.

A second interview (in person) will be scheduled for shortlisted candidates.

This role is part funded by the National Lottery Reaching Communities Fund (England)

Please note that this role requires a DBS check. If you are invited to interview, we would ask that you disclose any information to us that could impact this.

*Salary for candidates resident inside M25 includes London weighting
