The Senior Campaigns & Advocacy Officer will form a key part of the Policy, Advocacy and Influencing team, bringing together policy, public affairs and campaigns expertise to drive systemic change for young people. You will be responsible for delivering ambitious campaigns to achieve our aims, utilising offline and online tactics to empower supporters to join us in influencing policy and creating change.
The role will work with the wider team across our priority areas of work; spanning young people's wellbeing and mental health, adolescent risk and vulnerability, and child poverty. You will be involved in delivering long-term strategic campaigns as well as responding to immediate opportunities to mobilise and advocate for change for young people.
You will work with colleagues across the organisation, including our youth voice work to ensure that the voices and experiences of young people are central to our political campaigns activity.
We are looking for a determined and skilled campaigner to join us on our journey to deliver ambitious public advocacy efforts to bring about meaningful, impactful change for children and young people.
The role will be line managed by the Campaigns & Advocacy Manager.
Key responsibilities will be to:

To grow our network and influence, we are looking to power up our organising, particularly by running impactful events. The Political and Campaigns Organiser will work with the Compass campaigns team to support our national campaigns for electoral reform and public ownership of water. They will also work with Compass’ organising team to support our network of local groups and to contribute to our organising across all progressive parties and in particular within the Labour Party.

- Engaging and activating Compass’ member and supporter base through local groups and organising to maximise our impact, with a view to attracting and energising younger activists.
- Supporting the delivery of effective and creative campaigns - including supporting the campaigns team in writing copy and sending mailouts.
What this role might look like on the day to day:
- Meeting a local group in Warwickshire to plan an effective meeting to build their campaign against the far-right.
- Supporting the team to convene civil society leaders as part of our work on a New Popular Front by sorting logistics for events - choosing a venue or booking catering.
- Writing copy for emails to keep our activists up to date with key information about our activities.
- Supporting the organising team with desk research to feed into our political engagement work.
- Supporting our political party organising by writing template council or CLP motions.
- Following up with a member interested in starting a local group via phone or email, finding out what motivates them and building a relationship.

Skills and competencies
We're looking for:
- Strong interest in UK politics, particularly the Labour Party, with a clear understanding of the political context in which we work, which issues are politically sensitive and the culture Compass represents.
- Willingness to learn: open-minded, flexible and eager to learn new skills.
- Ability to collaborate and communicate: able to bring people together to take action, work across networks, with excellent interpersonal and communication skills, online and in person.

Experience, qualifications and knowledge
- Experience working with a not-for-profit, political party, charity, trade union or NGO.

- An insight into how local groups work as part of a national network.
- Experience in managing and running events online and in-person as part of a team.
- Experience of working with volunteers, activists and groups with different beliefs to build trust and work towards common goals.
- An understanding of the UK progressive political scene, particularly the Labour Party, and support for the aims, vision and values of Compass.

Job purpose
Support planning, implementation, and evaluation of MMHA campaign and policy work to improve perinatal mental health care systems, policy and practice in the UK.
Main responsibilities

We’re seeking an enthusiastic web and editorial officer with excellent writing and editing skills and an audience-first approach to digital content. You’ll create compelling digestible content for different platforms based on complex topics and edit copy from across the organisation. You’ll also play a key role in optimising existing work to fit evolving campaigns and SEO best practice. Key Skills and Attributes:

The Web and Editorial Officer is part of the Digital Content and Products team. We are responsible for the strategic development and optimisation of our digital platforms to ensure our websites resonate with our audiences and uphold our brand values and identity.

CONTEXT OF THIS ROLE:
At Purposeful, communications is political. It is how we amplify girls’ voices, sharpen feminist narratives, and push back against regressive agendas. The Communications Director will sit at the heart of this work - shaping and delivering a bold communications strategy aligned with Purposeful’s vision, mission, and growth.
This role leads the stewardship of Purposeful’s voice, visual identity, and storytelling practice, ensuring that everything we produce - whether op-eds, reports, campaigns, or digital content - carries our politics with clarity and conviction. The Communications Director will work closely with the Co-CEOs and across all Purposeful teams, including Advocacy, grant-making, Learning & Insights, Programmes, and Resource Mobilisation, to amplify girls’ organising, showcase our impact, and influence the broader philanthropic and activist ecosystem.
This is both a strategic and hands-on role, requiring a deep commitment to feminist movements, an instinct for storytelling as political practice, and a proven track record of positioning organisations on the global stage.
SCOPE OF WORK
1. Communications Strategy & Leadership

Lead on delivery and implementation of a new communications strategy, building on 2025 planning foundations.

Work closely with the Co-CEOs and director team to horizon scan and adapt strategy in response to organisational vision and external landscape.

Provide leadership to a small team of staff and consultants (designers, digital specialists, artists) and work collaboratively with partner communications leads on joint campaigns and initiatives.

Meticulously manage and forecast the communications and editorial budget, ensuring value for money and strong planning.

Track and analyse content performance, using insights to refine reach and engagement.
2. Storytelling & Content Development

Oversee the creation of compelling storytelling content that highlights Purposeful’s impact, amplifies girls’ and young feminists’ voices, and influences funders.

Lead editorial planning and content workflows, balancing evergreen storytelling with crisis-response or time-sensitive outputs.

Oversee production and capture of content from live and digital events (webinars, IG Lives, panels, etc.).

Coordinate brand refresh projects, including a website refresh, and strengthen Purposeful’s digital visibility with a focus on graphic-led content across social platforms.
3. Writing & Editorial Oversight

Review and edit all external content to ensure quality, editorial standard, and alignment with Purposeful’s voice and values.

Write op-eds, blogs, social media posts, campaign messaging, press materials, and executive summaries.

Collaborate with colleagues in Learning & Insights to integrate data into storytelling and publications.
