Community Fundraiser - London​

Brain Tumour Research is seeking an experienced and motivated fundraiser to join our team. As a key part of our fundraising efforts in our high-performing East region, you will have the opportunity to drive income generation through a variety of initiatives, including challenge events, fundraising groups, and corporate partnerships such as charity of the year. Reporting to: Community & Challenge Events Manager

Hours: Full time, Monday to Friday (37.5 hours per week).

Location: Hybrid working – Minimum 40% of working time to be spent in the office based in Welwyn Garden City, Hertfordshire. Includes occasional local, regional and national travel.

Job purpose: 

• Lead and grow community fundraising activity and campaigns to support Willow’s strategic income goals
• Build and steward strong relationships with donors, fundraisers, volunteers, and community partners to increase support and awareness.
• Develop innovative fundraising initiatives with the Community and Challenge Events Manager, informed by sector insights and trends.
• Contribute to the successful delivery of Community, Challenge, and wider Fundraising Team targets and events

Key Responsibilities:

• To help lead and develop our Community Fundraising strategy and plans within agreed budgets to achieve financial non-financial targets.
• To raise awareness of our work and to inspire support through:
  • Providing outstanding stewardship to our network of supporters to maintain engagement and build loyalty. To provide a highly personalised approach to supporting Willow’s fundraisers ensuring our supporters receive a positive experience throughout their fundraising activity
  • To proactively develop relationships with various organisations within the community setting, including, schools, societies, community groups and companies.
  • To create a pipeline of activity, that helps us to reach new audiences through proactive outreach
  • To coordinate and deliver presentations to a variety of community audiences, with support from wider team and volunteers.
  • To organise and deliver a calendar of fundraising activity that creates opportunities for supporters to help Willow. Ensure participation and income targets are achieved.
  • To develop the charity’s social media fundraising activity in collaboration with the wider team.
  • Collaborate closely with the Communications Team, to help plan and develop multi-channel campaigns including on and offline activity that inspire and engage people.
  • To work with the Communications Team to produce campaign materials, share interesting stories and fundraising updates. Prepare content for newsletters, website, and social media.
  • To develop a team of volunteers to support fundraising activity. This could include delivering talks, attending events, and promoting Willow at community events.
  • To foster relationships with Willow’s network of charity shops and explore collaborative opportunities to mutually support each other’s initiatives.
• To ensure accurate recording of supporter information and reporting on activity through:
  • Updating the charity’s database, Raisers Edge (RE) recording all donor contact and fundraising activity.
  • Using RE as a tool to aid fundraising using data insight and reporting
  • To prepare end of campaign reports to improve results for future campaigns and capture learnings.
  • To prepare regular income reports and updates as required.
• To keep up- to- date and comply with the rules as set by the Fundraising Regulator, GDPR (General Data Protection Regulation) and other relevant legislation and codes of practice and good practice.
• To keep up to date with changes and trends in the UK fundraising environment
• To undertake any other tasks required.

Qualifications, Knowledge & Experience

Essential

• Demonstrable experience in Community Fundraising of at least 1-3 years
• Experience in managing staff and/or volunteers
• Proven record of accomplishment in delivering and meeting targets
• Self-motivated and able to work on own initiative
• Well organised with attention to detail
• Ability to inspire and influence others to support Willow
• Ability to develop, motivate and manage individuals and groups of individuals
• Ability to manage several projects and tasks simultaneously and skilled at prioritising

Purpose of the job 

 In UK Youth’s Impact department, we find, create and use evidence to respond to the needs and preferences of young people and the professionals who support them. We conduct research and evaluations to prove and improve the impact of youth work, and we co-design high-quality programmes and support offers that can be scaled. This new role will work across these areas, supporting research and evaluation projects with real implications for policy and practice. 

 Reporting to the Evaluation & Learning Manager, you will be responsible for supporting the delivery of a portfolio of research and evaluation projects. Job Description 

Reports to: Head of Programmes 

Part Time (0.6) - £27,675 per annum FTE (9 month fixed-term contract)

In2research is a high impact and evidence informed social mobility programme for socioeconomically disadvantaged people to access and progress in postgraduate study. Our mission is to drive sector change across institutions towards an inclusive research culture. We strongly believe that it is not enough to guide underrepresented people into postgraduate study, but to ensure that the culture they are entering is inclusive and a place where they can thrive. Over a year, we support participants to gain vital access to both knowledge and opportunities including a paid 8-week research placement and subject specific mentoring. 

As the In2research Alumni Officer, you will deliver a programme of continued support for the In2research participants increasing their ability to apply and be admitted to postgraduate research degrees and opportunities, as well as supporting our mission to foster an increased sense of belonging within the research community for individuals from minority groups. The post holder will have strong knowledge and understanding of the barriers facing young people from low socioeconomic and minority backgrounds accessing postgraduate research degrees and research opportunities.

The post holder will be someone who thrives working with young people and is passionate about supporting them progress to postgraduate research opportunities as well as supporting to achieve the In2research vision of creating a more diverse culture in academia.

In2scienceUK is a remote-based organisation, that requires occasional travel across the UK for events, internal & external meetings and staff co-working days.

Your specific duties will include:

•  Delivering a high quality programme experience to support In2research alumni, aligned with learning objectives, beneficiary insights, our theory of change and resource.

• Develop and deliver engaging alumni communications e.g. newsletters, email updates, linkedin group posts, to keep In2research alumni informed of relevant news, opportunities and events.

• Maintain and develop new relationships with relevant partners to secure deliver online and in-person workshops and events aligned to In2research alumni progression milestones. e.g. "What is a viva and how to prepare for one" & PhD retreats.

• Work with our delivery partners to provide students application support e.g. application clinics.

• Support the delivery of one off in person events, e.g. the In2scienceUK celebration event.

• Maintaining up to date alumni records, in accordance with data protection, as well as working closely with the Data, Impact and Evaluation Manager to evaluate and report on In2research participant progression.

• Support with the collection and creation of case studies and alumni stories to promote alumni achievements and strengthen the community.

• Support the planning and delivery of organisational in-person events e.g. celebration days/conferences.

• Work closely with the In2research programme, fundraising teams and wider organisation to ensure funder requirements are met, and activities communicated.

• Support the wider In2research team with the current programme, and development of future aspects of the programme, where relevant.

As duties and responsibilities change, the job description will be reviewed and amended in consultation with the post holder. The post holder will carry out any other duties that are within the scope, spirit and purpose of the job as requested by the line manager. • Prior experience managing alumni communities.

Are you passionate about supporting vulnerable adults during critical moments in their care journey? As a Hospital Care Navigator, you’ll be a vital part of ensuring patients leave the hospital safely and confidently, with the right support in place.

In this rewarding role, you’ll be the single point of contact for adult patients preparing for discharge from the hospital. You’ll work closely with the Adult Social Care team, health professionals, hospital practitioners, and community services to:

• Identify needs and barriers to safe discharge
• Achieve safe and timely patient discharge
• Coordinate outpatient appointments and follow-up services
• Provide clear, compassionate advice and support to patients and their families
• Ensure patients understand their discharge plan every step of the way.

You’ll meet with patients, their families, friends, or carers to assess ongoing needs, ensuring a safe plan is in place for their return home. This could include ensuring that medication is arranged from the hospital pharmacy, someone is at home to greet them, food and heating are available, and the condition of the home is safe to return to. You may be required to liaise with Adult Social Care and other home providers to coordinate home support. You’ll follow up on calls or visits to ensure the patient is managing well at home. By providing the proper support, patients can be discharged sooner, and the risk of readmission is significantly reduced.

• Has experience working with vulnerable adults in social care, healthcare, or the community/voluntary sector
• Communicates with empathy and confidence across different teams at different levels, and with patients
• Is highly organised, with excellent time management skills

To ensure that Scotty’s understands and demonstrates the impact of its work — through high-quality research, meaningful measurement, and clear reporting. You will lead the development of internal and external research projects, manage beneficiary insight gathering, and oversee the systems and frameworks we use to evaluate and share our effectiveness. 

This role is central to helping us improve what we do and explain why it matters and ensuring that lived experience remains at the heart of everything we do. 

The key responsibilities of this role are:

Impact Measurement 

• Develop and maintain frameworks to measure the outcomes of all services and programmes. 

• Ensure Success Measures (KPIs) and qualitative feedback tools are aligned to our Theory of Change. 

• Work with the Families (service delivery) team to embed consistent and meaningful data collection across all services. 

• Design simple, automated reporting processes to reduce manual admin and improve data use. 

Research & Insight 

• Lead internal research projects using beneficiary data, surveys, and feedback loops. 

• Scope and manage external research partnerships with academic institutions or sector bodies. 

• Design and deliver surveys to beneficiaries and the wider bereaved military community 

• Produce evidence to support service development, strategic decisions, influence national policy, and funding bids. 

• Lead our existing advisory group (for children and young people) and establish new groups as required (e.g. for adult services). 

• Ensure that lived experience remains at the heart of the charity’s focus on understanding of the need. 

Communication of Impact 

• Create clear, accessible insight reports and data summaries for internal and external use 

• Lead the delivery of the annual Impact Report (content, structure, coordination with teams). 

• Develop quarterly insight packs for funders and stakeholders, with engaging visuals and stories. 

• Work with the Outreach Squad to ensure impact is integrated into campaigns and storytelling. 

Learning & Collaboration 

• Act as the internal ‘voice of insight’ – bringing beneficiary perspective and data into key conversations. 

• Contribute to team training on evaluation, feedback collection, and outcomes thinking. 

• Participate in cross-functional planning, especially with the Service Delivery and Outreach Squads. 

Policy (Light Touch) 

• Track key developments in bereavement, Armed Forces, and youth policy 

• Produce brief summaries or ‘position snapshots’ where relevant to Scotty’s mission 

• Build relationships with other research and impact professionals in the sector 

The 30-day goals for this role are:

• Build a deep understanding of Scotty’s mission, our audience, the services we provide, and strategic direction.
• Develop a deep understanding of our current Success Measures, Impact measurements and Theory of Change. 
• Reviewing research and data produced by the charity and related external research previously published. 
• Understand the data structure and reporting capabilities of Salesforce. 
• Understand existing commitments (e.g. funder report, impact reports etc). 
• Taken ownership of our 2026 Community-wide survey (project will be handed over upon start). 

The 60-day goals for this role are:

• Audit current data quality and gaps across the F-Team Programmes. 

• Support the publishing of the 2025 Impact Report (NB this might have be published but let’s put it in for now). 

•  Scoped and invited members to join our first adult lived experience advisory group.

• Analysed and shared results of 2026 Community-wide survey. 

• Reached out to relevant impact and research groups to introduce yourself, particularly those attached the military or bereavement charitable sectors. 

• Identified 1-2 relevant conferences or forums for Scotty’s to present at. 

The 90-day goals for this role are:

• Held at least 1 adult lived experience advisory group session. 

• Created and shared the first quarterly Impact Review for internal use.

• Fully taken accountability for impact reporting and research projects within the charity and able to demonstrate a clear plan of action for the rest of the year. 

• Proposed an outline for the Annual Family Feedback Survey in September. 

About You

The Purpose of the Role

The purpose of the Programme Finance Officer role is to provide financial and administrative support to ensure effective financial management of programmes and projects implemented in the UK. The postholder supports the Programme Finance Manager with budgeting, expenditure monitoring, and financial reporting, as well as performing key transactional tasks such as reviewing and processing invoices, verifying supporting documentation, preparing payment requests, and reconciling project accounts.

The postholder ensures financial accuracy, compliance with donor and organisational policies, and contributes to the timely delivery of high-quality programme financial information.

Scope and Authority 

•  Acts under the supervision of the Programme Finance Manager and in accordance with organisational financial policies and procedures.

•  Authorised to review and verify programme-related financial documents (e.g. invoices, expense claims, timesheets) for accuracy and compliance prior to submission for approval.

Financial Resources
