Abianda is a London-based charity that works with young women and girls affected by criminal exploitation and violence, and the professionals who support them. We exist to ensure young women are no longer hidden in our communities and can live free from harm and abuse. We aim to bring about a culture shift in how services are delivered to young women and girls, so that they can access support that works for them when they need it.
This entry-level role is open to 18-25-year-old young women* who have been affected by criminal exploitation and violence. These experiences could be direct or indirect through relationships or areas and places lived or spent time in. You may also be a young woman who has had experience with statutory systems such as criminal justice, policing, social services or the care system where some of your experiences may be related to what is typically known as ‘criminal exploitation and violence’.

Purpose of the Role
The role of the Project Officer – Legal Services (POLS) is to support the PBLS team’s mission to advance the UN SDGs by brokering pro bono legal assistance from legal experts in support of international NGOs globally. As an Evening Women’s Shelter Worker, you’ll be part of the team running Glass Door’s women’s night shelter. What You’ll Do
You’ll be part of the overnight team making sure our night shelters are safe, supportive, and welcoming spaces for everyone staying with us. This is an awake, overnight role, you will be alert and engaged for the whole shift. Your main responsibilities will include:

Enforcing behaviour expectations – Address situations where may display challenging behaviour, using a calm and respectful approach, conflict de-escalation training is provided for all staff.

Packing and unpacking the van – unload equipment and supplies into the van at the start of the shift and repack at the end of the night. The allocated driver will return the van to base (driver shifts are paid for an extra hour).

Restocking supplies – Keep an eye on essentials such as tea, coffee, and toilet paper, and restock from the van when needed.

About our team
