The new Press, PR and Internal Communications Manager will plan and deliver the organisation’s PR and Media campaigns and promote the role of their members to the public.
Essential experience:

Responsibilities
Strategic development and implementation

Key responsibilities

As our Senior Scientific and Policy Officer - Animals in Entertainment & the Media, you will develop and implement a strategic plan to raise industry standards, improve legal protection, and shift public attitudes to improve the welfare of animals used in these industries.
The role is situated in the RSPCA's Wildlife Department but the scope of the work includes all animals, including companion animals, so you will work collaboratively across several departments.

AFH is an NGO that provides aid and assistance to people affected by natural and man-made disasters. Our vision is a world of crises-resilient communities. AFH has taken a leadership role on advocacy for the ongoing conflict in Gaza and has a long history of being a thought leader on the humanitarian crisis in Syria. In order to help achieve this goal, AFH is recruiting an Advocacy & Policy Manager, where the successful candidate will report directly to the Director of Communications, manage and strengthen AFH’s advocacy campaigns, and develop and build networks to support our advocacy efforts. The Advocacy & Policy Manager will also be the focal point between the organisation and policymakers, in the UK and beyond.
The Advocacy & Policy Manager will advocate the humanitarian needs stemming from the crises in Gaza, Syria, Yemen and other contexts in which the organisation works. Your accountabilities as our Advocacy & Policy Manager will include the following:
Building external relations
- Lead on creating and executing an Advocacy strategy and relationship-building plan to ensure AFH is well connected and respected amongst key stakeholders including politicians, policy makers, governing bodies, other NGOs, etc. Regularly seek new opportunities to enhance external relations.
- Represent AFH in advocacy meetings, humanitarian coordination and other forums, conferences, events, and working groups, leading as many as possible.
- Build and maintain AFH’s relationships with influential people and authorities, including politicians and Governing bodies. Facilitate supporting regular and meaningful engagement with them.
- Build and maintain relationships with regional advocacy groups in and around Palestine, Syria, Yemen and other contexts.

- Keep abreast of regional advocacy groups in and around Palestine, Syria, Yemen and other contexts.
Supporting internal stakeholders
- Guide and advise AFH’s head and field offices on advocacy issues and trends.

- Closely monitor the evolving humanitarian and political context in the Middle East, Asia and Africa, particularly where AFH currently operates, and disseminate written and verbal updates and analysis in a timely manner to internal and external stakeholders.
- Produce high quality public and private policy and advocacy materials including letters, briefing notes, position papers, and advocacy reports.
- Build up AFH’s advocacy work in relation to domestic programmes.
- Promote the advocacy positions of the Syria Relief brand as well as the Action For Humanity brand.

Education

Reporting to the Director of Communications, you will play an integral role in shaping the digital strategy, while ensuring that colleagues develop their capacity and understanding of how to use digital tools most effectively.
Main Responsibilities
Working as the Digital Engagement Manager for Citizens UK, reporting to the Director of Communications, your main responsibilities will include:
Situational Awareness and Research

Lead the team in conducting stakeholder analysis; identifying and segmenting audiences and their positions and interests.

Strategy Development

Participate in development of the communications strategy, contributing tactical and creative ideas around implementation.

Shape digital engagement and marketing strategy, ensuring that plans deliver against the influencing goals; evaluating effectiveness of the strategy and adjusting as required.

Work with project teams to support the development of tailored digital strategies
Reputational & Risk Management

Demonstrate awareness of potential reputational risks and proactively develops appropriate protocol and messages, including expected professional fundraising standards.

Effectively represents Citizens UK with senior stakeholders
Materials Development & Dissemination

Demonstrate a track record of effective supervision and quality control of output – critically ensuring compliance with plan and audience appeal.

Ensure all work is completed within brand guidelines.
Digital, social media and website

Able to lead the team in the use of social media to increase brand awareness and impact; able to generate innovative approaches.

Lead on supporter engagement through Action Network, building the capacity of Organisers and community leaders to effectively use digital campaigning tools

Work with developers to maintain and update website CMS, support the team in creating news and blog content and help upskill colleagues to create content for the website.
External Relationships

Manage relationships and communication with external suppliers where required
Campaign and Events Management

Take an integrated communications approach to digital engagement activity.

Identify opportunities, initiate and grow new campaign tactics.

Establish systems for monitoring and evaluating key performance indicators and delivering to time and budget.
Internal Comms & Knowledge Management

Identify gaps in our internal knowledge management in digital practices and strengthen these with clear processes and documents to drive best practice amongst wider team.

Adopt a strong solution focused approach to help teams overcome any challenges and maximise their digital engagement efforts

Provide training to key members of staff to upskill colleagues.

Act as a brand ambassador for the whole organisation.
Internal Relationships

Provide line management support and leadership on our digital engagement, ensuring colleagues feel supported, developed and valued

Ensure the work produced across the team is of high quality, and reflective of Citizen UK’s values

Provide digital support and advice to colleagues across chapters and projects

Work closely with project leads across our migration work to coordinate digital engagement tactics.

Liaise with other managers and teams within the charity effectively.
