Job Summary

External relationships

Leading and Managing an Effective, Sustainable Organisation

- Ensure Havant and East Hants Mind’s Mission, Vision and Values are communicated clearly and are applied consistently.

- Provide leadership, management and administration of the organisation in the execution of the strategic plans and policies.

- Develop and maintain an organisational culture of innovation, positive risk taking and employee empowerment.

Inspire and lead staff to develop and deliver innovative and effective mental health care.

- Ensure Havant and East Hants Mind has the resources (human, material and financial) to operate as efficiently as possible

Oversee the development of business plans and budgets that allow the delivery of sustainable, high-quality services which are rooted in the community and have a focus on recovery

Financial leadership and management

- To be responsible for the overall financial health of the organisation, ensuring that appropriate budgets are prepared, approved, monitored and controlled and holding accountability for co-ordinating the work of the management team on funding bids.

- Ensure programmes and projects are developed and operated within agreed budget parameters

- To work with the organisation’s appointed accountants to ensure best practice in all areas of financial management and compliance

- To improve current funding levels to consolidate and/or expand the organisation; working collaboratively with the Deputy CEO and Business Development Manager.

Strategic Leadership & working with the Board of Trustees

- To support and advise the Board in setting vision and developing strategic plans, providing the strategic context in terms of mental health, health and social care policy and practice, and funding options.

- Provide Trustees with an annual strategic/business plan; to lead the strategic planning process, developing and implementing a strategic plan for the organisation with the assistance of staff and volunteers, including financial, funding and human resources strategies.

- Ensure a long-term strategy is in place to guide Havant and East Hant’s Mind in achieving its objectives.

- Work with the Chair of Trustees to ensure that governance structures are appropriate, and that the Board and its Sub Committees are supported to have effective oversight of the organisation.

- Support the Chair of Trustees in ensuring the continued engagement of all Trustees.

- Advise the Board of Trustees on fulfilling their governance responsibilities.

- Produce reports as required by the Chair of Trustees.

- Develop policy proposals for discussion and decision by the Board of Trustees.

Legal compliance and quality

- To ensure that appropriate safeguarding and compliance systems are in place to meet the requirements of commissioners, Charity Commission, National Mind and other quality assurance bodies.

- To ensure that Havant and East Hants Mind meets its constitutional and legal responsibilities and that it has the necessary resources (human, material, financial) to meet its obligations and to operate effectively.

- To develop, implement and manage systems for setting and meeting quality standards throughout Havant and East Hants Mind’s services, projects and processes.

- Ensure senior colleagues and Trustees are updated on commissioning, policy and other changes that affect the business and service delivery.

Part 1: Role Purpose:

We are seeking an outstanding Programmes Officer for an exciting opportunity to support Street Child’s programme portfolio in Liberia and Sierra Leone. This role will cut across Street Child’s programming in the region, including a specific focus on the $12.8m Education for Every Child Today (EFECT) Project which aims to enrol 96,000 out of school children in school across West Africa over a 4-year period.

The key objectives of this role are to work closely with Street Child’s federal partners to support the effective implementation of adaptive programming, and to support accurate and timely donor reporting across a range of institutional, trust & foundations, and corporate donors. The ideal candidate will have strong written and excel skills, with experience of MEAL and financial management processes. The role will engage regular, detailed interaction with Street Child’s UK and European fundraising community.

The role holder will work in close collaboration with Street Child’s regional Head of Programmes, based in Freetown, as well as partner Programmes, MEAL and Finance teams to coordinate timely and quality implementation and reporting across the programmes portfolio.

Based in Monrovia, whilst serving a regional brief, the role-holder will be expected to be especially involved in supporting the programmes, and wider life, of Street Child of Liberia. This aspect of the role in particular demands a confident, ‘self-sufficient’ and motivated personality – who is excited by the opportunity and attendant career potential, as opposed to being overawed by the inevitable, multi-dimensional challenges.

Part 2: Key Responsibilities:

Reporting & Programme Funding Engagement – 35%

• Review narrative and financial quarterly reporting from country teams and provide feedback.
• Lead on the consolidation of narrative reporting (low-mid value donors) for a variety of donors within the portfolio.
• Ensure regular information flow to Street Child communications and fundraising teams, inclusive of collection and drafting of case studies and photos.
• Supporting income-generation opportunities - potentially including supporting donor visits, in-country donor engagement and broad-based support to the group’s global programme-funding efforts for both Liberia and Sierra Leone.

Programme & MEAL Management – 35%

• Work in collaboration with national partner and cross-country implementation teams across Liberia and Sierra Leone to ensure quality and timely implementation of project activities.
• Work alongside social, enterprise and education teams across both countries to support a joined-up approach to project implementation and MEAL, ensuring relevant data are collected with due care and utilised for project planning, reporting and learning.
• Provide strong support to EFECT programme staff and partners in Liberia & Sierra Leone in programme and MEAL department.
• Alongside colleagues provide training, guidance and advice to partner delivery staff to ensure effective and accurate use of programme documents and tools.
• In liaison with Safeguarding Focal Points monitor safeguarding policies ensuring adequate implementation of policies and procedures, and support to close feedback loops with partners & project participants.
• Provide capacity strengthening to Street Child Colleagues where possible.

Financial Support – 25%

• Support the country teams in compiling requisitions in line with programme forecasts and budgets.
• Support on the collation of financial reporting requirements for low-mid value donors.
• Support on tracking of donors & match funding within the EFECT programme.

Other – 5%

• Coordinating staff, stakeholders and donor visits.

THE ROLE 
The Croft Woodlands Project is a partnership initiative between Woodland Trust Scotland, Point & Sandwick Trust, Scottish Forestry, Scottish Crofting Federation, the Woodland Croft Partnership, Shetland Amenity Trust, Orkney Woodlands Project and Communities Housing Trust. The aim is to engage crofters in woodland creation and management on their holdings to deliver multiple benefits in terms of biodiversity, agricultural diversification, landscape and environment. This role receives generous support from Point & Sandwick Trust.

The Project Adviser will be responsible for the day-to-day delivery of the Croft Woodland Project in Lewis and Harris, and will engage with crofters, common grazing committees and other land managers to take forward woodland schemes. The focus will be on woodland creation, but the role will also involve the provision of woodland management advice. The Adviser will work closely with colleagues, the principal project partners and an external Project Advisory Group to develop relationships, deliver events, and promote woodlands on crofts. 

This role is a 0.5 part-time post (18.75 hours/ week), working closely with the Croft Woodland Adviser for the Uists and Barra and the other members of the Croft Woodland Project team. 

Initially, a company vehicle will be provided for this role, starting with a hire vehicle for the first 6 months in post. After this initial 6-month period we will review vehicle business use to ensure the post-holder is complying with the eligibility criteria as stated in our Company Vehicle Policy.  If the post-holder complies with those criteria, a longer-term lease vehicle will be sourced and provided.

THE CANDIDATE
With experience of developing and delivering woodland creation and woodland management schemes with a focus on island/croft sites, you’ll have a good understanding of woodland and croft grant schemes and of crofting in Scotland. 

You’ll have experience of advising and working with crofters, communities, land managers and woodland owners and of working with contractors and consultants. Self-motivated and flexible, you’ll be able to plan, organise and manage your own workload and develop ideas that further the work of the project.

Job title: Regional Director, East and Southern Africa

Role Purpose:

Street Child is a rapidly growing, child-focused, humanitarian and development organisation. In 2023, Street Child celebrated reaching over one million children across 25 countries over its fifteen years of existence. This was accomplished with and through a growing network of more than 200 national and local actors. The Regional Director will be a standard bearer of this ambition in East and Southern Africa, providing leadership across all countries where Street Child is operational while monitoring and pursuing growth opportunities across the region. As Street Child’s most senior representative in the region, the Regional Director will guide and drive the organisation to deliver on the objective of ensuring all children are safe, in school, and learning.

As Street Child actively seeks opportunities to expand its support for the most marginalized girls and boys, the Regional Director will be responsible for providing outstanding leadership and for resourcing and delivering high impact programming across East and Southern Africa. The Regional Director will work to identify and advance partnerships with regional, national, and local actors, as well as donors. This will require bringing a strong network to the role along with energy to represent Street Child in organisational, regional, and global forums. As Street Child country teams drive delivery for girls and boys, the Regional Director will work with country directors to develop high-functioning teams to deliver and resource ambitious regional and country strategies.

The Regional Director will manage one regional programme coordinator and will progressively assume responsibility for line management of country directors in East and Southern Africa.

• The Regional Director will act as chief motivator, working collaboratively with country, regional, and head office teams to:

• Represent Street Child at the highest level in East and Southern Africa, including pro-active participation in relevant coordination mechanisms at national and regional level.
• Represent Street Child and the needs of children in East and Southern Africa in global for a as required.

2) Advance and diversify partnerships with the local actors who respond to the needs of girls and boys in their communities, and with donors who can resource the work:

• Lead the development of strategic partnerships with relevant actors including donors, INGOs and local/national government, including at the regional level.
• Oversee the development of a resource mobilisation strategy for the region based on Street Child’s expertise and donor priorities.
• Lead and/or support Country Directors in the development of high-quality and highly competitive institutional funding proposals.
• Proactive engagement with Street Child UK head office and programmes team on strategic, networking and fundraising activities.
• The Key Responsibilities provide a high-level view of the Regional Director role. These responsibilities will evolve as the Regional Director expands Street Child’s reach across East and Southern Africa. Street Child operates with an entrepreneurial spirit that may require staff to step-up and step-in to reasonable tasks beyond the initial description of their role. The Regional Director may occasionally be called upon to provide surge or scoping support to other parts of Street Child Programmes as delegated by the Director of Global Programmes.

Qualifications and Experience:

• Significant senior management experience, leading high-functioning programme regional or county teams in the humanitarian and development sector. Previous experience as a country or regional director is preferred.
• Strong strategic thinker, with demonstrated expertise developing, resourcing, and delivering strategic plans at the regional or country level.
• Demonstrable experience of proposal development and/or winning funding; Experience in both humanitarian and development contexts.
• Strong command of the localisation agenda, and commitment to local level leadership and decision-making.
• Strong experience delivering high quality education and/or child protection programming.

As an Outreach & Development Worker you will ensure carers of all ages and backgrounds are aware of their rights and know how to receive support from Gaddum and other services they need at the right time for them. 

You will provide outreach & support sessions, deliver groups and events for carers and other relevant partners across Salford. Creating exciting new opportunities for carers through networking and building partnerships.

We are an ambitious Hospital charity with an exciting opportunity to join us on our team as a Fundraising Assistant, initially on a three month contract with potential to extend. 

We currently raise between £1-2m a year for East and North Hertfordshire NHS Trust which has four sites local to Hertfordshire, including the Lister Hospital (Stevenage) and Mount Vernon Cancer Centre (North London). About you

Ideally you will already have experience in an administration or customer service role and looking to start a career in fundraising. You will be looking for 20-37.5 hours a week and can work flexibly including some evenings and weekends to support at fundraising events. 

Main duties of the job

• Provide support to the department on a range of administrative tasks including, dealing with enquiries (postal, telephone, email, face to face), opening and sorting post.
• Work to build excellent relationships with donors to provide a high standard of customer care.
• Process one-off and regular donations ensuring procedures are followed and information is recorded correctly onto the database and thank you letters are sent.
• Work with cancer centre volunteers to support the team with administration tasks.
• To undertake specific fundraising projects and attend events as necessary or as required to support the department’s fundraising.
• To assist the fundraisers with administration of staff lottery, raffles and prize led promotion and fundraising as required.
• Support all fundraising activity and represent the charity at internal and external events.
• Manage ‘Gift in Kind’ donations and our ‘Gift in Kind’ Campaigns.

Working collaboratively across our small Communications and Development team, the post holder will develop, deliver and co-ordinate an integrated and effective marketing and communications plan. He/She will oversee day-to-day marketing activities and track their success and will help to deliver communications which are both engaging and professional.

The successful candidate will have an established track record of marketing and communications work, including digital and social media, and an ability to write and edit copy for different audiences. General administrative skills and an excellent working knowledge of Microsoft Office packages are essential. We are looking for people to work with us to make this vision a reality.

The successful candidate will be integral to achieving our strategic priorities of generating income through repeat support, and providing exceptional journeys for our community of supporters, ensuring they feel valued and engaged. The role will provide strategic support to the Director of Engagement and work with the communications and development team to ensure that our outputs are cohesive and coherent.

The ideal candidate will have experience in a similar role, ideally within the Charity sector. He/she will be a self-starter, highly motivated and with the ability to work well as part of a team.
